Jace is valid with his concerns. Blackfyre rebellion was literally waged bcus Daemon looked like a proper targaryen. In this case Jace dont look targaryen and has a small dragon. Hugh is the grandson of the old king, now owns the Old king's dragon, looks like a Targaryen. This could be another succession issue since now there's another Targaryen bastard.

Hugh's mother was Princess Saera Targaryen - one of King Jaehaerys' daughters who was very promiscuous and slept around. Jaehaerys disowned her for this and she ran away to the Free Cities where she opened her brothel and became super successful.
Saera was the aunt of Rhaenys, Viserys, Daemon and Aemma (Rhaenyra's mother).
Apparently. That's not in the books, but it's a good addition making that connection.

Jaehaerys did not disown her at first. She was sent to be a Septa but she grievously harmed/murdered an old Septa to run away. The next news of her was her at a brothel in Essos. She did not open her own brothel, because obviously she was penniless, and apparently sold herself for even the passage there.

As quickly as Silverwing accepted Ulf, it makes me wonder if Rhaena ever tired to claim her. She's an absolute sweetheart. "I'm just happy to have a visitor, would you like a cookie?"
I kept thinking she was saying “Oh hello human! I haven’t had a human visitor in a while! Would you like a ride? I love humans!”
I'm wondering if the problem with Silverwing's lack of rider was more to do with how the dragonkeepers were getting potential riders like Rhaena to behave in front of her. Silverwing seemed to like Ulf's deference and acceptance of being nudged around by her. The dragonkeepers held the dragons back from contacting potential riders (understandably!), and told them to not show fear and be assertive/confident/commanding. All which Ulf was not. Maybe Silverwing just wanted a rider with a death wish lol. I mean he stepped in her egg nest!
@@CTM418 I think she was just really lonely, and being known as a gentle dragon, like Queen Alysanne was a gentle woman. I don’t know why they didn’t give Rheyna a chance with Silverwing, first.

To your point about being the named heir, Rhaenyra was he named heir, and look at where she is. The words of rulers hold only so much power.
Also Jace is heir like Daemon was heir. Viserys got the lords to swear fealty to Rhaenyra, as little value that has now, but Jace doesn't even have that.
@@Velociraptour No, not like Daemon. Daemon was merely the heir presumptive while Jace is the heir apparent (as long as people keep believing their lies). Jace's claim is more comparable to Aegon's.

12:30 Daemon recognized both that Oscar was doing his absolute best to salvage things, which is why he suddenly switched to playing along, and that in that moment his only way to seal the deal was to take that head. Oscar Tully clearly isn't the rube Daemon originally took him for.

Yeah. Oscar knew he was young and didnt have any rep to fall back on, and Daemon realized he HAD to let this kid big dick him so the lords would see he isnt some punk ass kid. If you want them to follow him, you have to help him establish that he's worth following, and if that has to come at Daemons expense, so be it.
Also, being named the heir is not good enough, when other claims arise and if those come with some arguments that gains support from the houses or the smallfolk. Rhaenyra has her claim challenged due to being a woman, if having a dragon is not something Jace could use to prove his claim, because bastards can also ride dragons, then the sons of the greens could have better claims.
All I could think of when Ulf met Silverwing was Donkey in Shrek

Dragon keepers are the ones who carry all the deep dragon knowledge, without them it all fades away
Actually, Deamon does care about fealty, he developed great loyalty from the Gold Cloaks, but here he was put in a situation where he didn’t have control and if he needs the army, then he needs to help young Oscar be effective as paramour of the Riverlands. Daemon was not content with killing William. All of the Harrenhall experience is for Daemon to realize how the crown is not what he thinks it is and to accept how it is not really what he wants.
I agree with what you said here and the point of Daemon’s story arc. But you meant to say Oscar is the Lord Paramount of the Riverlands. A Paramour is a term for someone’s ongoing lover.
Jace has a very valid point. Being named heir isn't the win you think it is. Rhaenyra was named heir but it was contested because she's a woman and now Aegon sits the throne. Jace's own rule might be contested because he doesn't have silver hair and wouldn't be viewed as "pure." He doesn't want these dragon riders becoming his future rivals.
You can see the moment she realized that being heir doesn’t matter in ASOIAF. I believe the only heir, up to this point, that became king, was Aenys; the son of Aegon, and we can see what happened to him and his son.
This happens a lot with house Targaryen half the time the king who succeeds wasn't supposed to .
As it does not necessarily matter in real life, unless you have the backing of much of the realm.

The Lady Jeyne and Alyn of Hull actors, Amanda Collin and Abubakar Salim, were in Raised by Wolves and they were amazing.
Abubakar Salim also played Bayek, the main protagonist of Assassin’s Creed Origins, & his performance in that game was so good.
He made Bayek into one of the best protagonists in the series.

People miss the significance of vermithor basically incineration lines of dastardly and kinda repurifying her family line...Jace has a reason to not only be worried about his own claim but the fact this will lead to splinters down the line
Vermithor and Silverwing were King Jaehaerys´ and Queen Alysanne´s Dragons.
Firstly Silverwing is like the Golden Retriever of Dragons thats why hes so chill with Ulf.
Second Hugh´s Mother was a Daughter to Jaehaerys who he disowned because she was sleeping around and now in the end one of her bastard sons is getting his dragon xD
I think Jahaerys & Alysanne would be proud their daughter raised a son with integrity.
@@awhartig5847 I mean.... from what Hugh said she didn't. All the integrity seems to have come from him raising himself, and protecting his family. He's ashamed of her and she fled to Essos, overseas.
I believe towards the end of his life Jahaerys really wanted to reconnect with his daughter. So I think he would be happy that his daughters son claimed his dragon

Abubakar Salim who is on critical role, raised by wolves (excellent performance) really is making his mark in acting.. He plays Alyn of Hull on HoD - outstanding actor, I hope he gets more roles in future.
According to the lore as I recall Hugh's mother Saera Targaryen sister of Baelon Targaryen, Visery's and Daemon's father. She was "Free Spirited" and King Jaehaerys an the family disowned her, she was not a bastard (given this episodes theme). Vermithor is fierce and so must be his rider.
My guess is that Hugh wasn't born in Westeros but was born in Essos when Saera went over there to work in a pleasure house and then own one
So happy seeing Vermithor truly on screen. Love seeing 'The Bronze Fury' brought to life. One of my favourite dragons.
Edit- Also Ulf is lucky that Silverwing is one of the friendliest of the dragons, otherwise bye bye.

See, that's what many people get wrong. Being named heir only matters as long as the monarch is alive. When the monarch dies, if there exists a stronger claimant to the throne, then being named heir means diddly squat. That's why, Aegon and his brothers' existence puts Rhaenyra's entire claim in question, since their claim is stronger than hers (call it misogyny, but they're the king's true born sons in a male-preference primogeniture) they really have no choice but to sit the throne; if Aegon doesn't sit the throne, his and his brothers' lives are in constant danger.
This is the second episode we see a dragon egg pile the first time was when Daemon was grabbing them in S1
It is not a good idea to give ordenary people superhuman strength who previously had none. It is even less good to give power to people who have suffered before. The danger is much greater that they will now take what they want and think that they are entitled to it now. Do we really think that Hugh is honorable? Previous episode has shown that he is not. He knocked down a man to get his food instead of going to the beach himself. And here, too, he is driven by the desire to gain power, even if his wife did not wishes for it. And did he really save the woman's life here or just wanted to prevent the dragon from bonding with her? Because the dragon stood relatively calmly opposite the woman, he did not attack her. He then drew attention to himself. Also interrupted a possible bonding moment.
I think Ulf had it so easy with Silverwing because he took on the smell of Silverwing's children from kicking in the balls. She accepted him more as one of her children.

This is wrong. Vermithor was heating up to blast her. We see the brightness in his mouth. So it wasn't a bonding process and Hugh could see that.

Larys kept the rumor of Seasmoke quiet to keep Aemond in the dark. He's now 100% loyal to Aegon & is actively sabotaging Aemond.
Daemon is one of the three main characters and Matt Smith is the biggest name on the show, they will keep him around as long as possible. Also I believe this episode was filmed before episode 6 and because the kiss was not scripted to this Rhaenyra and Mysaria it never happened. Also don't wish Mysaria happiness, she is a Littlefinger level snake.
Mysaria has the best morals out of most of the main characters so for what reason would i not wish her happiness?

I'm seeing more Robb Stark in Oscar Tully, than Lyanna Mormont. Makes sense the Young Wolf is a descendant in a few hundred years.
Oscar has cleared the way for Bloody Ben Blackwood to come on stage.
Archie Barnes as young Lord Oscar Tully gives my favorite performance of the season. I feel about his performance here as I did about Bella Ramsey's first appearance as the young Lady Lyanna Mormont in GOT.
I just immediately sign up for both of them - 10 outta 10 stars. I live to see an actor not just rise to the occasion but elevate what's on the page even further, especially in a smaller role.

Actually he's that guy's Son, Otto's Nephew. That guy was Hobert Hightower the previous Lord and is dead now.
4 and ten means 14, that's how they say ages in this show, and Rhaena is 16 so it would be 2 years before he war, Laenor has been presumed dead for 6 years.
Silverwing is the most docile and friendly dragon even to strangers. The lover/mate of vermithor. 😍 Just like Queen Alysanne and King Jahaerys I are the old riders or vernithor and silverwing and they were married as well. I believe thats daemons and viserys grand parents. The old king in episode 1 season 1.

They’ve given no indication that Laenor is dead, and that’s something they are going to have to address in the last episode of the season, unless they feel comfortable upending book canon .
They already upended “book canon” when they didn’t kill off laenor, so no they don’t “need” to address it. Nor is it a bad thing to do things differently from the book
The very fact that Seasmoke has a new rider is the clearest in-world indication that Laenor is dead.

I think the circle of fire with the sheep bones indicates a downward sneak attack and then gorging on the already dead sheep by tearing at the carcass leaving just the bones

From the beginning, Daemon was portrayed as brave, strong, and cruel, but never as wise or cunning. Now, after Alys' magical psychotherapy, he might gain a few IQ points.
