Fun fact: the music at the start is the first time Ramin Djawadi used the piano for this series, so immediately, it puts you on edge and you know something is up.
Yep, and its extremely rare, probably haven't really been done before for a "fantasy" type setting like this to use a piano, a non-stringed wood instrument (guitars, violins, bass, etc) for the score. But I think the use of the piano was just masterful!
That guy is brilliant. I'm so glad they brought him on for House of the Dragon, but I wish the series was as good as he is.
@@b-six-twelveHouse of the Dragon is incredible! What are you on about?!
@@curtismoore6576 i wouldn't call it incredible. but am willing to concede that might be the source material's fault.
@@curtismoore6576lmfaoooo that show is like Riverdale in comparison to GOT 🤡 the amount of BS those showrunner have changed to fit their own agenda like aging characters down and completely changing them for no reason is why it’s not that great
"She was good, she was kind, and you killed her!" breaks my heart every time
The actor is Irish, but has the best Geordie (Northern English) accent on TV 🫶
Same! I love Davos, I was so sad for him when she died.
And they cut out that great speech mostly because of sh*tty editing and cringy as* joking. 😤
GoT has been the only show that made me tear up… the burning of princess shareen.. and bran murdering hodor….. on a side note, if you thought S6 E9&10 were going to be the only episodes on another level in TV history, just wait for S8E3!
@@veot.2869- There's more???? 😮
The thing that always gets me about Jon Snow’s parentage situation is that Ned DIDN’T EVEN TELL CATELYN. Instead he kept the secret to himself even if it meant that his wife would hate him, or resent the child, or that the general public would think of him as dishonourable because it was better than risking letting the secret slip, endangering Jon.
Catelyn was much worse to Jon in the books. It is also much clearer why Ned didn't tell her for sure. I mean it is there in the show, but it is much better fleshed out in the books.
Its also why Ned was so adamant about not doing as Robert commanded in killing Viserys and Daenerys
Catelyn wasn't a good liar and people would have noticed if she started treating Jon differently... also a secret isn't worth as much the more people know about it...
@@archmaester6594 It's less about being a good liar. If a situation came where selling out Jon would save her own kids, she would have done it which is why Ned never told her. She wouldn't take the secret to her grave.
Well we also know Cat is dumb and makes horrible choices. She's never be able to keep the secret & her husband & his nephew safe.
Honestly don’t think it gets the credit it deserves, but when Davos confronted Melisandre, one of the best scenes of acting in the whole series. Felt every bit of it
He is absolutely my favorite side character ❤️
EVERY. DAMN. BIT.
"She was good, she was kind, and YOU KILLED HER!" 😭😭 that performance is my favorite of the series. You really feel the paternal relationship he had with her.
@@ChrisMovieMisfitit’s very interesting because it’s not in the books. Smart move on the shows part to add it.
@@MMKOCH200 as much as the showrunners get bashed (and often justified) they don't get enough credit for some of the good things they added. Like the Davos and Shireen relationship.
Could hear the emotion
At the beginning when Cody said, "F*ck Walder Frey," all I could think was, "Just hold that thought for a half-hour or so." 🤣🤣
I swear he know the plot already. There's no way he doesn't to make teh board and keep up with all the info at one time. he's ben spoiled and just says stuff conveniently all the time right before or and episode before it happens even before its set up😭😭
@@aziivo5012 They don't know anything ahead of time. The Walder Frey thing was probably emphasized in post after the fact. Part of my job is reading people, and this is one of the few reaction channels who I've never found faking anything that I've watched.

Underrated comment 🤣🤣🤣
The King has Landed.
Damn 😂
Cody: "Blow up the Sept? I would die."
Me: "What are you, Tommem?
The Wildfire was there from the Madking. He placed caches of it across the city and what he meant from "burn them all" was to blow shit up. That was the little rumor Cersei asked Qyburn about.
I love how the season 5 ended with Cersei and Jon at their lowest and season 6 at their highest.
Same with Daenerys.
Not Cersei, yeah she became Queen but lost Tywin, Tyrion joined Dany, Tommen died because of her, Jamie is angry at herz
Ned was so honorable he kept his sisters secret to the grave. This episode is amazing!
Ned never cheated on Cat, but he chose to sacrifice his reputation to protect Jon from Robert’s wrath.
The trial scene with the setting, the music, the building tension and the final explosion is my favorite scene from GOT. It's all the more incredible since clues to Cersei's plan had been placed during previous episodes.
- Episode 6: at the beginning, Bran has multiple visions of the past and the future, and we see the wild fire spreading underground
- Episode 8: when Jaime speaks to Edmure in the tent, he tells him Cersei would be ready to reduce cities to ashes for her children
- Episode 8: Cersei and Qyburn discuss an "old rumor" that Qyburn's little birds confirmed, saying there was much more than they thought
- Episode 9: Tyrion tells Daenerys that the Mad King had scattered caches of wild fire under several places in the city, including the sept of Balor
Great breakdown!
And without forgetting the most ironic: in episode 7, Olenna tells Cersei that she is surrounded by enemies and asks her if she plans to kill them all by herself :)
The Great Sept of Balor.
I love the scene but it never made much sense to me. At least the aftermath didn't. Like everyone was just ok with that? Non of the other houses rose up? The faith militant was popular with the people of kings landing. They didn't riot? I like the scene I just don't understand why it didn't have consequences
@@Djo4200 Cersei blew up all her enemies in King's Landing so maybe the people thought it would not have been a good idea to revolt againts her 😬

You are truely one of a few reactors who immediately made the correct conclusions about Jon. Very nice. Now the fan made "R+L=J Who is Jon's mother" is a "Must watch" before you start season 7.
very refreshing they didnt go down the incest rabbit hole like most
@@ramoncarter3121Fr like how would that even make sense lol
Please watch it AFTER season 7. It's technically a spoiler.
@@jasonrd316 How? It doesn't refer to anything that isn't revealed in this episode. It's only a spoiler if you don't understand the reveal in this episode.
@@janeathome6643 Then why watch it at all? Why watch it now vs at the end of the show? I'm not trying to spoil anything...the show reveals everything in it's own time. This wasn't created by the show, and we know the show does more with this next season, so their intention is clearly to have a reveal. You do that before the intent it's a spoiler. That's it.
Minute for minute I think that this is the best episode of the entire series. It had so much packed into it, touched on so many storylines, had so many reveals and so many great moments that I don't think any other episode tops it. There are still several great moments and episodes coming up in the final two seasons, but this one was the best for me.
yup
I absolutely LOVE this episode!! I have "Light of the Seven" on my Playlist and believe me, when I'm in my car and feeling thoughtful and introspective, it DOES get played lol! I wholeheartedly agree with a lot of sentiments here that the first 15-20min is some of the best music/TV I've ever seen. Everything pulls together to create an absolute masterpiece !✨️ 🙌🏽
That's how l feel about the Targaryen theme, it gets played on a regular basis!
Agree with both of you! Light of the Seven and Mother of Dragons or Fire and Blood are my alarms every morning 🤣

This is hands down my favorite episode of the series. It has everything I love about this show all packed in one epic episode: betrayal, big reveals, POWERFUL perfomances, that feeling of "Oh shit, shit is about to GO DOWN!" multiple times, great character moments with Arya, Davos, even Cersei has her moment for like the one time we can get behind her, even the music is at its best. This was one of my favorite reactions!
And now you know why Ned was against the assasination for Dany in Season 1.
Very emotionally, in fact.
I never even thought of that till you said it 😅
Because she was a child. There is no other reason. He turn Jon to a Night Watch to end the line there and protect him.
@@LSG101097 LOL. Yeah, no other reason. Ned would have killed for him. Or anyone else in his family. He did what he had to do. He didn't care about ending any line. His worry was how violent Robert was with anyone Targaryen, and how much danger that put Jon in.
It was just because she was a innocent kid had nothing to do with her brother having a baby with his sister especially since he still believes she was abducted.
This episode put Cersei in my Top 5 list not even going to lie😂 also when she called them “Hateful Hypocrites” she means the same people like the Lords or Ladies who marry their cousins or Uncles/Nieces. Also the same people who supported the Targaryens yet them openly marrying siblings
"the same people who supported the Targaryens yet them openly marrying siblings"
lol either they accepted it or they got burned, by dragon fire or wildfire 💁♀they didn't choose to accept it . also they were right to oppose it , brother/sister is a biological abomination, on top of moral abomination
A little hint that most people missed on the first viewing...
The closing music as the credits roll is a mix of the Stark and Targaryen themes.
Cool little detail: Arya still says "My lord" and not "Milord." Throwback to when Tywin said the difference.
I don't know why I thought this episode is just gonna be the great sept being blown up. I forgot the second half was gonna be in this episode. What an epic finale.
This was the game of thrones peak. So amazing, so much potential, I wish the show runners didn’t get bored and rush thru the final two seasons.
I WISH YOU BOTH GOOD FORTUNE IN THE WARS TO COME
Notice how Daenerys didn’t shed a tear for Daario, but for Jorah, she was extremely emotional at the thought of him leaving/dying.
Always loved that little tid bit.
they should portray characters closer to the books and made him creep he was but of course they did not
Women are just like that. Whoring and leaving is their hobby.
Jorah was a creep but he was close to her long before than Daario, thats why she was emotional but she doesn't love any of those
That’s exactly why he was friendzoned
I would've shed a tear for Daario. *fans self*
The wildfire Tyrion used in the battle of the Blackwater wasn't any of the hidden stashes under the city. It was new wildfire that the pyromancers had been making. So all the old and hidden wildfire was/is still down there.
I can't tell you how many times I've seen this episode now, but the scene where Davos confronts the Red Woman STILL makes me so emotional!
Jaime Lannister mentioned about the wildfire beneath the King's Landing when the Mad King ordered him to kill everyone in the city and Mad King also believed that he'll be reborn as a dragon, Jaime disobeyed, etc
And Qybern mentioned to Cersei about a "rumor" being true, and that there was "more, so much more"
You’ll find me playing “light of the seven” while doing stuff around my house quite a bit. The first 15 minutes is some of the best tv I’ve ever seen.
“it’s setting it up like you’re going to a funeral.” Man, you nailed that part right.
Best opening sequences ever! The music is the cherry on top and becomes Cersei’s “song” afterwards. It’s the only time in the entire show they used the piano which is so cool. To me this song and Daenerys song is chilling to hear every time. This whole episode alone is in my top 5!
I’m so happy you noticed how Varys teleported just to be in the “cool shot”.
You are officially ready for season 7 and 8, where teleportation is a normal thing all of a sudden
I actually hate that they now have to watch season 7 and 8, the show up until the end of season 6 is still one of the best shows of all time, but after that there’s a sharp decline in story telling and pacing, production quality is still good for the most part.
Well, all the ships including Dorne and the Tyrells are represented so clearly he didn't teleport. Enough time has passed for the armada to form up.
Yeah, that cool shot brought so much promise for the final two seasons... we/us non-book readers were so naive. lmao
What is it with people and this teleporting stuff?! It wasn't the next day!!! There is an entire FLEET of ships there. What do you think they ordered them on Amazon?!? It took AT LEAST months to build them but most definitely years to build the ones that were added to the ones they got from
the slavers and Iron Isles. Do you realize how long it takes to organize an armada? How long it takes to stock the ships with food and supplies?!? Do they really have to tell people that for them to understand that there was a time jump? It is the weirdest thing to me.
Dorne is between Slavers bay and the Stormlands, its quite likely they just picked him up instead of teleportation.
IMO the best episode in game of thrones. Btw you should react to R+L=J for more information about jon snow and his parents
The first like 20 or so minutes? Beautiful. Anything else? Not really imo

Oh god this is going to be a good one. 13 episodes left to go. Thank you both for the laughs keep them coming :-)
The Winds of Winter was a terrific episode. So much happened. Now that we know John's lineage, we also know that makes him the last male Targaryen, which is a threat to Daenerys's claim to the throne.
27:50 Good eye... and yes, she was staring at Jamie for good reason! :P
But yeah THIS was a hell of an episode! SOOO much happened its hard to even remember what happened! Start with a beautiful and haunting piano score over the destruction of the Sept, ending all the Sparrow bullshit AND the Tyrell children AND the loss of Tommen and the start of torturing that Septon bitch. Then, yeet Melisandre out of the North. Sam making it to Oldtown to the biggest library ever, giving him a chubby. Danny giving Dario the boot and naming Tyrion her Hand. And hey look, Arya is back in Westeros and she's getting down to business to defeat the Frey's! Uncle Ben looking like stale rice saying he cant come with Bran past the wall so he's gonna stay frosty, while Bran fully commits to being the Three Eyed Raven and seeing the BIGGEST bombshell about Jon's parentage. And we see the Martell's having a meeting with Old Lady Olena Tyrell, making a pact while Mr. Clean rocks up telling them that they're all teaming up with Danny. Then, by the by, lets have Jon be named King in the North, sounds good. Lets also crown Cersei Queen while Jamie looks at her like "Did you just kill our damn son?!?!" And lastly the biggest and most ridiculous amount of ships ever shown carrying Danny, the Unsullied, Dothraki, and Greyjoys back to Westeros.
Did I forget anything? Goddamn I keep forgetting how amazing this episode is!
37:13 No, Jon is the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. That would make him Daenerys' nephew because Rhaegar was her and Viserys' big brother. And Maester Aemon is actually Jon's great-grand uncle.
Maester Aemon's younger brother was Aegon V (as Sam told us in S05E08).
Aegon V's son was Jaehaerys II.
Jaehaerys II's son was Aerys II, the Mad King.
Aerys II's son was Rhaegar Targaryen.
As for Shireen dying, it was blood magic. A life for a life. It's why Jon could be brought back.
That final scene of the season 6 finale was everything. The music, the cinematography, the storytelling without any words..
Y'all made us wait for this one lol I knew I would enjoy your reaction to it. The music, the acting, all of the wonderful paybacks... cinema gold in my opinion
You guys have to watch R+L = J by Robbie McD. It’s a good watch and shows how good GRRM is as a writer. A lot of people have reacted to that video and its an amazing video.
The map and your updates are a good part of the fun! Also, I’ve got to suggest Googling Diana Rigg (Lady Olena) again. She was a knockout, gorgeous as the co-star of a British show called The Avengers (no, not them)!!
Diana Rigg was a damn Bond girl. YES she was hot!!
She was more than a damn Bond girl...She was married to him.
She also looked a lot like Natalie dormer
Man… I would give anything to watch the first 20 minutes of this episode again. Almost everything is PERFECT… amazing moment altogether
Ok I know the beginning song is Cerseis, but I call it the Arya song because if you listen to the lyrics it says “Arrrrryyaa Aryyyya Oh Arrryyaa”
Ahhhh!! My FAVORITE episode!! The entire thing is perfect television.. the suspense, the realization, the anticipation, the explosion, the revenge, the reveal, the shock, the satisfaction.. and the MUSIC.. its perfection..
The music as Queen Daenerys is sailing to Westeros gives me chills! I play it in my car when I need to hype myself up! lol If i’m not mistaken Ramin said his favorite music to compose was for the Targaryens and you can definitely tell!

A reminder that the book series is titled A Song Of Ice And Fire.
And this is why if anything is about to go down, I am slipping out and saying I accidentally left something needed outside. She is a good person for letting them know they need to leave, but it prevented and her brother from leaving 😔🖤.
Amazing reaction, guys! Thank you.
That said, I would like to clarify some things that might be confusing:
1. Jon Snow is the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. Therefore, he is the dragon and the wolf (Targaryen AND Stark). Rahegar, his father, was the brother of Daenerys (The Mad King was their father). This means that Daenerys is Jon's aunt.
2. The wildfire that Cersei used to blow up the sept came from caches put across the city by the Mad King (As revealed in Jaime's bathtub scene with Brienne in s3ep5). The location of these caches was unknown to most people since Jaime never talked about it to anyone before Brienne. It is implied that Qyburn used Varys' former spies to discover this. Hence, the "rumor" he was talking about in a previous episode.
3. Book adaptations stopped somewhere in season 5, although some events from this season happened way earlier in the books.
The theme playing while Cersei gets the crown… breathtaking!
I just started watching, but can’t resist saying how epic this reaction will be!! You two are awesome, so fun to see new reactions to old thrills. Thanks!

the song at the start of this episode is so amazing
This Episode is one of my favourites, quite possibly joint-first. I play the piece Light of The Seven on the Piano nearly everyday😂 (The Light of The Seven, is the name of the music playing at the beginning for those who don’t know the name)😂
With this episode you have achieved peak Game of Thrones.
The next 2 seasons are peak ! , anyone with a brain can understand that .
Yeah its straight downhill from here, for sure.
Should check out R+L=J. Good to see what hints you may or may not have picked up on. Love the reactions, you both are awesome!
This episode shows why Cersei is my favorite character. The acting by Lena Headey really is something else!
For some reason the female characters on this show always felt so much more interesting to me than the male characters? Cersei, Arya and Dani are by far my favourite characters. Tyrion and Theon were the most interesting male storylines imo.
@@mosovanhereally? Because I found Tyrion to be a rather boring character
@brianalex5083 For me he was one of the most interesting characters (story-, character depth-, and personality wise), yes! But I guess we all watch this show in our own way, and we all connect differently to all these characters. For example; I always found Jon Snow a boring character with a way too "predictable" storyline (a little less in the books, though). But he seems to be many people's fave 😄
So who was your favourite?
Oh she shined in this episode. Cersei and Sansa became my favorite characters, love them! …AND Jamie, Brienne and Jon OF COURSE!
She is by FAR the best character on this show.
This is probably still my favourite episode of the show. It's so well done with so many incredible moments and sure, Cersei is a nasty piece of work, but I kinda love how she takes control here in such an impressive, if not dark way! Plus, the fact Lena Headey didn't win any awards for this episode is a crime.
We were shown and told many times by various characters and through visions all throughout the seasons that the Mad King Aerys hid wildfire throughout the city. Qyburn and Cersei discussed a “rumor” about something, presumably the hidden wildfire, and Qyburn said it was “much much more” than a rumor.
Thanks for another excellent reaction 😍 This was my favorite episode, particularly the opening sequence including the song “Light of the Seven”, an absolutely beautiful piece of music.
12:13 I always forget that pycel actually DECKS the first kid before they killed him😂 glad you caught that too 😂😂😂
Cool part is that little lyanna speaks up for jon. Named after jons mother🥲
Those chained books were called liber catenatus in Latin (Kettenbuch in German) and were common in medieval libraries until the Renaissance. They prevented books from being stolen or, in some cases, being dropped.
Showing them here was a nice touch.
However, AFAIK, chained books were usually kept in front of the reading desks for obvious reasons. Having to unchain them to take them anywhere would have been too difficult.

Looking back at ep 9 & 10..these are the two best episodes in television history.
In the closing scene 36:03 you can see Martell and Tyrel ships alongside the Targaryen ones, and that explains why Varys is there with Daenerys, bc the 3 armies already met near Dorne (I believe)
The Light of the Seven from Ramin Djawadi. Genius music.

Man I just realized how hamfisted the dialog Arya says to Walder is. "The last thing you're ever going to see is a Stark smiling down at you." Jesus christ D&D have you ever heard of show, don't tell?
They mentioned a few episodes ago that the Mad King had caches of wildfire all over the city
What doesn’t make sense is that if he said “burn them all” why didn’t that one explosion cause a massive chain reaction throughout the city
This is my favorite episode of the show:
- starts with "Light of the Seven" which became instantly my favorite motif from the series and very little dialogue; what's there provides a backdrop for the music not the other way around
- Aria makes a comeback to Westeros with a big entrance
- the "King in the North" scene hits harder than the one with Rob (partially thanks to Lady Mormont)
- the hundreds ships finale is epic closing take
- some other great scenes - meeting in Dorne or naming Tyrion the Hand (again)
Also, technically, though Targaryens themselves had other rules for succession - blood provided only right to be a claimant, with actual ruler elected by the virtue of other merits - by the purely hereditary rules introduced by Baratheon being currently in effect in Westeros, Jon is the rightful heir. After Rhaegar's death on the battlefield, his title of Aegon's heir passes to his children before his younger siblings - as Robert's crown passed to Joffrey, his illegitimacy being the only legal leg to stand on for Stannis.
I was 4 months pregnant when this episode came out.. I had no idea what to name our daughter.. after this episode I knew. 😂❤
Arya was born 5 and a half months later 😂😂
As good as episode 9 was, I think this tops it. Great reaction and could almost see the wheels turning in your brain!
Ive watched got in its entirety countless times via reaction channels, and everytime im as emotionally moved as the first time. This episode is masterfully paced and told.
Jon - That's why it's called a Song of Fire and Ice. He brings the two together.
The wildfire that blew up the sept was placed underneath it by the mad king. Tyrion mentioned that he had caches or wildfire under key landmarks in the previous episode whilst talking to Danny.
Cersei also asked Qyburn about “is that a rumour or more”. The rumour being, are there caches of wildfire underneath key landmarks. This was the conversation when she learned that trial by combat was no longer an option.
Tyrion had the alchemists make new wildfire. The head of the alchemists said that they'd been working day and night since they received Tyrion's command. Qyburn confirmed that the mad king's stores of wildfire that he had stashed all over the city were still in existence. Presumably Jaime had told Cersei about the mad king's plan to blow up the entire city, so she knew to ask Qyburn to send his spies looking for it.
Remember the story from Jamie about the Mad King , he placed wildfire under the places in the city ( including the Sept ) . That’s why it was under there
Sansa: “actually lord Glover you’re gonna have to scrap that 1000 years and start from scratch. Don’t let me catch you lying again now”
One of the best episodes in the entire show. So many iconic moments
Y'all had me crying laughing this whole reaction lmao
I did the watch along with you as well and it’s great! Thanks for taking the time to do that!
the mindblowing thing about this episode is that SO MUCH happens and you have almost no time to process what the fuck is going on because they just skate right past everything. incredible tv.
This. And its not sloppy in the slightest either!
My favorite episode of TV ever made! Followed by a close second of The Expanse season 3 finale.
imo the shot of a small gust of wind from the blast blowing Cersei's hair as she smirks down at her enemy's deaths is one of the coolest of the show.
Prob a top 5 episode of GOT.. I like how little of a moment they make that window shot
Best episode of any show, ever. 6 seasons of unbelievable story telling culminated into a one hour long finale that pretty much wraps up the events we have seen up to this point, and paves way for the events we're about to see. Just perfect all around.
The music for this Kings Landing episode is my absolute favorite and a perfect choice. I listen to this all the time.
The Varys teleports are real ! lol.
