Dragons are likely the most innocent creatures in this story, as they are being exploited by their riders to eliminate their foes. Yes even Vhagar, I'm sure she'd choose sleep over war.
Everything we know about Dragon indicates that they are very combative, aggressive and ready for conflict with each other and anything else. They are very warlike or at least can very easily become so.
@@Kristian.B.Kristiansen So are dogs. Dogs are naturally aggressive, but through human domestication we can train them out of that, this has been done similarly in dragons it seems like which is why Sunfyre who hasn't faced battle nor was trained for it was shown to be fighting very clumsily compared to a dragon that was trained for war like Vhagar.

I'm convinced some people will not be happy unless their specific head-canon is put on-screen 100% how they picture it in their mind. And anything less than that is "ruined" in their eyes. People will find the smallest stuff to get angry over.
Meleys handled business, she was dealing with Sunfyre handidly before Vhagar turned up and then managed to deal good damage to Vhagar before hitting the ground, seems Vhagar is not as good a fighter since she is very old unless she ambushes her target.

Regardless of the outcome, Meleys took on two dragons and left one crippled, and she gave Vhager, the oldest dragon, a good beating before she died (meleys also knock down vhagar). People who say she was stupid to stay don't realize that she was trying to protect the people at Rook's Rest. Notice how she wasn't attacking the soldiers' but just simply destroying their equipment; all her attacks were strategized. Notice how she didn't say "Dracarys" but "Attack, Meleys." Yet she fought for her queen till death because she knew the feeling Rheanrya was feeling because she too had been denied of what was rightfully hers. Also, knowing that she could've prevented Lucery’s death that day of the coronation was even more motivation to fight to the death and protect the people from the rook's rest. Let’s also talk about how Team Black doesn’t use their dragons as war equipment and truly has a bond with them. Rhaenys, the queen who never was a true queen and icon, a legend!
The best analysis of her strategy. She was playing defensively. But she was outnumbered. Leaving behind no choice to return back for a second time to protect the people & secure the castle. Only to get snatched out of the air by vhagar. I think, she & her dragon had a certain understanding. And probably even knew before it that they might not make it out of there alive. She took the chances. But was taken by a massive surprise. One of the best battle sequences in the GOT universe. Or at least, the most unique one I have seen. Only to be bested by the blackwater bay explosion
Spoilers below: Sunfyre is not dead and going to make a comeback in S03 along with the rightful heir to the iron throne. Just wait for the sweet pain and agony blacks will go through
What do you mean regardless of the outcome? this was a dumb move to send a dragon for a useless castle. Rhaenyra wanted to be even more stupid like Aegon and go herself. The blacks lost their biggest and most experienced dragon just to injure Sunfyre and Aegon ( I don't believe either of them are dead) and they lost the castle. You guys need to stop coping.
@@Visionary- people seething that he can get away with boning Alicent when Rhaenyra can’t with Ser Harwin Strong without consequences I guess. Not to mention his part in the “usurpation” Also him having nothing to do until this episode and that being almost all of his scenes this season.
@@Visionary- To quote a comment I saw once: "The violence is fake. My annoyance is real." Two of the most hated traits any fictional character can have are hypocrisy and pettiness, and Cole has those in spades. His entire problem with Rhaenyra boils down to "The heir to the throne wouldn't abandon her kingdom to become a fisherman's housewife for me after I did her the great honour of sleeping with her, so now I'm going to devote my entire life to being a bitter ex and beating up her young children in my care." Also him accusing Arryk of sullying his white cloak with mud at the little prince's funeral and telling him he needed to essentially sacrifice himself to make up for it. Regardless of whether he's justified in his anger at Rhaenyra or not, people hate a bitter whiny hypocrite who takes out his anger on those who can't fight back. People like Joffrey and Ramsey have refuge in audacity - most people will never experience anyone so utterly evil or vile in real life, at least not personally, so their over-the-top evil deeds can be viewed as purely fictional entertainment and don't evoke negative personal experiences. The vast majority of people watching Joffrey won't be thinking, "Ah, that brings back such bad memories of when the king chopped *my* father's head off and put it on a spike!" In contrast, basically everyone has had to deal with a Cole at some point, so every time he's on screen it reminds viewers of negative people in their real life who they hate being around, and it only rubs salt in the wound when Cole keeps getting rewarded instead of punished for his behaviour. At least Joffrey got slapped down (sometimes literally) on occasion and took a cow pie to the face. To top it all off, most people loved Cole when he was first introduced and were rooting for him right up to his face-heel turn, so there's an element of betrayal that was never present with Joffrey or Ramsey, who both made their depravity clear early on. Personally I enjoy Cole, pettiness and all. XD I'm glad this episode showed that he really is highly capable on the battlefield and an inspiring leader. I do wonder if opinions of him will shift after this battle, as by the end of it we're pretty clearly supposed to empathize with Cole and his horror at the devastation he's helped unleash.
the guy at 16:22 also needs to keep it low next time. He had been shouting the whole episode. You can clearly see others also being annoyed by him. I guess he works at the bar but it also ruins the reactions.

Yeah, when I originally watched this episode, I was like, "Rhaenys died a Dragonrider's Death" 🫡 But, watching Morgan watch this scene, really made it hit harder. 😢
This show has done a great job of humanizing the dragons to the point that I cried when Rhaenys and Meleys went down. They both died a warrior's death. I wish Aemond had put his sword through Aegon in the end to ensure he was dead. Aemond is a villain but I prefer him to the rapey Aegon.
Rhaenys was sent by Queen Rhaenyra to protect the people of Rooks Rest in this Battle. Just because Vhagar shows up to fight it doesn't mean the Battle is over. If Rhaenys had fled back to Dragonstone, running away from the Battle and Abandoning the people of Rooks Rest, Rhaenyra's claim would be viewed as weak. Like Queen Rhaenyra runs away when things get tough. That's the simple answer for Rhaenys's suicide mission. Put even simpler, there were still people to protect. By the Queen 👑 Who *ALWAYS* Was 💔 ❤️
Neither side is as saint. I am afraid neither of the sides cares for the commoners if their interests are not aligned by "helping" them. It was just a weak attempt by Blacks to show their power. Had they had "such love for commoners" they would have sent someone to stop Cole way before he started taking over castle after castle until he arrived at this one.
@harrypotter416267 what!!?? 🤣🤣 The Black's are the only side that specifically pursued Diplomacy-First approach because they DIDNT want War to befall the commoners. Rhaenyra was the only one in this equation who DIDNT WANT WAR. The inherent Fascism & Misogyny that drives & motivates the Green IS THIER OWN and nobody else's. The Greens are the EXCLUSIVE REASON there is even War in the first place!!! series are you watchin!!?
@harrypotter416267 Absolutely not. The Greens were "little bitch boy" upset that "a girl with coodies" would sit the Throne. The Greens are motivated by Fascist Authoritarian Patriarchy. The Greens are the ONLY side that wanted War. They are the single EXCLUSIVE reason there is even War in the first place. Rhaenyra literally offered to share the Throne with the Greens MULTIPLE TIMES! She is also the only side that pursued a Diplomacy-First approach. The Blacks are the only ones WHO SPECIFICALLY TRIED TO PREVENT WAR because Rhaenyra was concerned about War befalling her commoners. WTF Series you been watchin!!!? 👀
the fact that he and Aemond were able to successfully trap and kill one of the biggest weapons Rhaenyra had despite Aegon coming in and almost ruining it all is a massive achievement. He’s gonna prove himself a great strategist and leader as the series goes on
They were probably hoping for Rhaenyra, was relieved it wasn’t Caraxes and satisfied it was Meleys, rather than a smaller prize like Moondancer or something.
Yeah it is kinda show’s fault that it made people see him just as the guy who has sex with Alicent but he was always competent and now for sure we will see that fully, at least at the moment he and Aemond have a strategy to win the war while Blacks’ plan by Daemon is rather… not so good
The cheering as the Green's dragons got maimed was disturbing. Even if you're on team Black, the dragons are innocent; it's like cheering for war horses as they get shot, it's weird.
Right! I was looking forward to the dragons fighting but when I saw it, it was heartbreaking to see those beautiful creatures destroy each other. I discovered a new found dislike for the Targaryens. 😡

Dragons are likely the most innocent creatures in this story, as they are being exploited by their riders to eliminate their foes. Yes even Vhagar, I'm sure she'd choose sleep over war.
Granny a vet, she misses combat probably which is why she accepted Aemond

Солнечный огонь, мелкий неопытный дракон.

@@zenith2068Why do people actually hate Cole so much? He doesn’t even come close to Joffrey or Ramsey when it comes to being a “bad” person.
@@Visionary- people seething that he can get away with boning Alicent when Rhaenyra can’t with Ser Harwin Strong without consequences I guess. Not to mention his part in the “usurpation”
Also him having nothing to do until this episode and that being almost all of his scenes this season.
@@Visionary- To quote a comment I saw once: "The violence is fake. My annoyance is real."
Two of the most hated traits any fictional character can have are hypocrisy and pettiness, and Cole has those in spades.
You can instantly see who's read the book the moment Rhaenys says she will go
