    Best car I have owned. I am enjoying the experience so far. Tesla should move the right blinker to the right and keep the left turn blinker on the left. I do not miss a "normal" steering wheel at all. Tesla does need to improve the overall quality and needs to follow through with driver experience but we all have to remember, 10 years ago, Tesla was a non player in the automotive world. Today, they changed the industry. Growing pains are a natural part of the process. Mercedes, GM, Volkswagen, Ford, Toyota are all brands that have history dating back 100 years in a few cases. The fact that Tesla is where it is and what they have done as far as influence is huge but going forward, they need to work on the after purchase experience.

      Same here, absolutely love the car. Mine was purchased in late Aug 2021 and it doesn’t have any quality issues:
      no gaps, no trim issues, no noises, etc. Mine does have the little worm thing on the yoke but it’s not very noticeable. Even in the cold winter months, the range is still pretty good.

    I can personally testify to the safety profile of the Model S. My last one (pre-refresh, but same basic frame) was destroyed when someone drove the wrong direction on a freeway at 4:40 am and hit me head-on. I lost my glasses and was not even as sore as I get after a workout. The car was totalled, but I was fine. The other car, an old Cadillac, was pulvarized, the other person was killed, and their vehicle's wreckage quickly caught fire. I was so stunned at being alive after that, that all of the hypercar performance features now seem like an ancillary bonus extras after that, the sheer ability of this car to protect the driver from wrecks that are fatal or seriously disabling in other vehicles.

    • @Javeho
      @Javeho ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow that is really amazing… so have you done anymore experiments without your glasses??? I wish that happened to me when I took my glasses… all I ever get is bruises from running into things and a headache

    I have watched your channel for a long time and I took delivery of a Model 3 LR on Feb 8. Thus far I have found no production flaws. It came with the v11 updated UI. I have been aware of previous versions. When in doubt try voice command rather than hunt through menus, especially when driving. The suspension is on the rough side but I like how it handles and accept that it doesn't offer a marshmallow ride. Learning to watch the screen while backing is hard for me but it is growing on me because the rear view and side mirrors are pretty small. The blind spot cam is in the left lower corner which usually means my right hand on the wheel is somewhat in the way. I noticed that yours was in the lower middle. I find the interior lighting to be almost useless. I have been adding accessories, console organizers, trunk mat, bag hooks but am very annoyed that the trunk has no tie points. I can buy them but knowing where to drill that is safe... Tesla should have included a few. I am still deciding on how to park. I have a long driveway and a left turn to enter the 2 car garage with no excess width to make the turn easier. I can place it better by backing in. Adding a 14-50 outlet would be easier if I nose in. Backed in, would require a longer run for the 14-50.... 6" vs over 20 feet and more damage to a finished garage. I will live with the 120v 12A for some time before deciding. It actually works for me so far. So far being plugged in hits the 80% every night. I have been letting the battery run down.... still has 179 mile range which probably would be okay for the rest of the month.
    Oh, I need to say this car is so much fun. It put's a smile on my face every time I juice it even a little.

    The service appointments(due to bad quality control) and lack of parts available, drove me to sell my Model 3 2021. The bad thing is they only tell you that they do not have the parts required to fix your car when you are already at the service center, which requires me to re-schedule another service appointment and take a free from work again. A simple phone call from Tesla service center could have saved so much time for me. But happened to me 3 times!

    Just took delivery of a 2022 Model S LR after waiting 9 months, my first Tesla and EV. I'm blown away by the car. Getting used to the yoke faster than I thought I would. I can't find any QC issues like Ryan experienced. The only thing that puzzles me are some settings don't seem to work, like I set the car to honk to confirm it's locked when I walk away but it doesn't. And the car seems to do what it wants regardless if I have it set to unlock only driver's door or all doors when I approach. And one key fob never worked.

    • @Bonelaw11
      @Bonelaw11 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can program the key fobs to work using the app and the key card. Remove the battery cover and make sure the plastic has been removed. If you’ve tried both then I don’t know.

    23:49. Can be useful if you're not sure whether your thing fits in the trunk or not. When you're loading out you figure out it doesn't fit, yet you're still holding it, so you then just press the trunk buttons without having to take the thing out and walk around the car to fold the seats down. Button press, push it forward and it's loaded. Not useless at all.

    Can confirm phantom braking is an issue with our 2022 model 3 Sr
    On 2 lane highways when passing bigger vehicles or vehicles in tight packs it would slam on brakes right before passing

      On the highway from Colorado to New Mexico, It felt to me like the phantom braking would happen whenever we got a sudden downhill. The car seems to be braking so it doesn't go over the max speed. If it's a long, predictable hill, the car can handle it. If it's a sudden dip in the level highway, I get a phantom break.

    Great review, Ryan. And spot on. I've had my Model S LR for about 6 weeks and love it. I'm completely comfortable with the yoke, except for the horn. Only a few minor issues at delivery and they were fixed at a service appointment. But really, in this price range the car should be delivered without problems. I also would like to see; following distance on the scroll wheel, overhead parking view, front camera when parking, energy screen, and automatic opening and closing frunk. Hopefully a future software update will fix the first 4 items. Overall a brilliant car. If they would just pay a bit more attention to the small details, they'd be there.

    Great review.. Love my Plaid. Agree 100% with pros and cons. My major negatives are the horn placement and no unlock door buttons while the car is on. Dropping or picking up my wife entails me hitting the control button then hitting the unlock button. A lock/unlock button on the top left of the screen would be much quicker. Thanks

    I've had my Model S Plaid for almost 2 months now and love it! I would not go back to a steering wheel or stalks, I like the yoke better now and prefer the turn signals buttons as well. Same with the onscreen shifter, I also prefer that and have no interest in going back. I also love the little things like the blinkers automatically turning off when you change lanes and the auto gear selection when you hit the brake, very cool. Only changes I would make on the inside is having the horn be in the center of the yoke rather than on a button and put the blind spot video on the center screen rather than the middle screen. On the outside I wish it had the soft close doors that the Model X has, and kinda wish the frunk had a button to auto close it.

    • @toondkn
      @toondkn ปีที่แล้ว

      The turn signals on the steering wheel seem like an improvement in ergonomics/effort required to indicate indeed. I however cannot imagine the on-screen shifter being handy and faster than a stalk when doing multi-point turns while parking.

    Ryan - as an owner of the 2022 LR 'S' - with 3,300 miles - I can add some things you didn't touch upon:
    1) To your point - there is an issue with the audio options. I can add to your issues - as I have the XM Radio ap literally disappear every day or two. No one 'owns' this - Tesla claims XM, XM claims Tesla. A 'soft' reboot doesn't bring it back. A 'signal refresh' sometimes does - but not all the time. Bizarre, but I suspect others have the same issue.
    2) As you are also in the LA area - you can verify what I'm about to claim: The autopilot will 'change' (reduce) the speed you're going when it sees fit - and raise the speed when it thinks appropriate. Several areas on the 10 Freeway have this 'issue'. Would greatly appreciate you driving thru the same areas - and reporting accordingly.
    One final point - I too have gotten used to the yoke - and the lack of stalks - but the bigger question - to me - is whether such a setup is 'better' than the traditional setup. Certainly there isn't a person (lol - even Elon) who would swear that having the horn on a small, capacitive button on the steering wheel rim is safer than having it located in / on the center wheel airbag (for those old enough - French cars had the horn 'button' on a steering wheel stalk: That went the way of the dinosaur).
    As others have suggested - they yoke should have been an option (or - a true wheel should have been an option).
    Keep up the great work - it's terrific to see the growth of your channel.

      I have the software upgrade and honestly the summon mode is just a gimmick. It’s fun to be able to tell family and friends that you can control the car from your phone, but only goes forward and backwards. If you think it will come and get you at the front of the store for example 99% of the time it will say that it can’t. It only works if the entire lot is empty. So for me it’s just a fun gimmick to show family and friends.

    Spotify - I'm pretty sure it's a Spotify issue and related to other spotify players on your account. It could be a coincidence, but I've noticed when I kill Spotify on my phone the car immediately connects to spotify, within nano seconds... lol.
    In addition, on my Linux computers, I noticed ever since I got my Plaid those computers would randomly just stop playing audio from any sources. At first I thought it was random and a Linux problem, but soon after I realized it's always after I drive the car. Coincidentally enough, when I kill spotify on the computer all the audio comes back without the need to reboot.
    I'm pretty sure this is not a Tesla problem.

    • @Guest_1138

      I completely disagree.. exactly who is “catching up”? Overall quality? Sorry? So other manufacturers have octovalves, and heat pumps and fewer parts over all? Better range? Lower cost? A legacy EV will break down as much as an ICE vehicle, they must do this otherwise the dealerships won’t sell them.. EV only startups can’t ramp up and produce in volume fast enough. meanwhile Tesla is running away from the pack. And interior features is NOT a sign of a better quality car.. it’s just a bunch of bells and whistles.. Tesla put all that in a single screen. It’s not an airplane. You don’t need to see every gauge at once.

      @@Guest_1138 YES..agree with you completely. We've been driving teslas since 2017. In the last two months I have test driven the ID4 and the EV6... The KIA was the more interesting of the two but so "gimicky" and full of hard plastic and silly design 65k with the 5k dealer mark up. The ID4 is an electric tiguan... just not great, sorry.
      Our Plaid has almost 11k on it and has none of the issues "QUALITY" reported above ... my daughter's 2018 early m3 has over 50k and not a rattle or shimmy and 0 service. Our 2019 x had 38k miles and had the half shafts "upgraded to the new design after they failed. Our leased 17 100d never had any issues. We drive these cars like cars... coast to coast all the time and we are hooked now. But I think that my taste has evolved over the years and it's hard to see the "familiar" approach that legacy auto manufacturers are pursuing as anything more than just that. For me it's Miles Davis not Miley Cyrus, so a matter of taste I suppose.
      I do agree that the stop sign issue is a problem. Here in rural GA we have many merging roadways that have stop signs that appear to face directly at the car causing it to react. It will be interesting how this will be addressed moving forward for all manufacturers!

    software is nowhere near the price quoted, and IMHO simply doesn't work now. When I tried it in a loaner and
    in a rental vehicle, I spent too much time and agida worrying about what idiot stunt it would pull next.
    Re the yoke - naaahh... The lack of the horn button in the classic location is the major reason I won't have one.
    All the controls bunched under our fingers, well, OK, but why not left turn under the left thumb and right turn under
    the right thumb? THe noise level and suspension would also sell this car to me.

      @pablojams5152 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Look to your local and federal gov’t news for that. Biden has talked about it recently but it’s gonna be a while until more infrastructure is built up. Also down to your local city/government to choose when and where they get installed at. I’m hoping they’ll be at least half as prevalent as gas stations in 5 years or so. The goal so far is to put EV charging in already established lots instead of building new spots for them like gas stations though some have propped up at convenience stores with gas stations like Wawa etc. because charging typically takes longer than gas fill up they want chargers at places you can find a way to spend time at. Government idea of charging infrastructure vs consumer/manufacturer ideas are very different so I’m interested to see where we’ll be in 5-10 years.

    A vast majority of Tesla Plaid buyers get them for one thing....they are the fastest cars on the planet (a caveat here that I should mention is other European cars that come fairly close to the Plaids performance usually cost at least double the Plaids base price, and the Rimac Nevera, which is about a half second faster than a Plaid, last week was certified legal for all countries safety requirements, will only have 150 models made and
    costs $2,400,000 before options!) that you can buy from a manufacturer that you don't have to spend an additional $20-$30K to modify them to still be slower than a S Plaid. AND for you folks that agree and have interest in speed rather than how far we can go on a charge, or how much your Teslas will be worth 3 years from now, or the minor fit and finish issues that are always mentioned by Tesla haters, and are usually taken care by Tesla when mentioned when you buy this Model, this will be right up your alley! The TOP LINE Lucid Air offers 1,111HP, while the Plaid offers a supposedly 1,020HP, BUT there is a TH-cam video that has a Plaid on a 4 hub dyno that develops 1,101HP STOCK from the factory. The Plaid also weighs approximately 400 pounds LESS than the Lucid Air, and averages between $20,000 to $30,000 Less than the advertised $179,900 than the Lucid costs DEPENDING ON OPTIONS CHOSEN for each car.
    Last month a Tesla Model S Plaid in Napierville, Quebec set the new record for the fastest quarter-mile time for the electric sedan at 8.83 seconds and 161mph.
    The Model S had a stripped out interior for weight savings, as well as SV104 wheels wrapped in Mickey Thompson drag radials at the rear and Michelin PS4 tires on the front.
    Not content with the blistering fast time, the same Model S Plaid has set a new record this week. At the same track in Napierville the Model S crossed the line in just 8.77 seconds at 162.55mph (261.60km/h), a 5.67 second 1/8 mile time and an outstanding 125MPH to 162MPH time in 3.1 seconds!!!
    As for what changed that allowed the car to go faster this time the owner, TMC user mulot30th, said there was an additional 60lb weight saving over the previous attempt due to someone else being behind the wheel on the run.
    Additionally he said there a slight change to the suspension.
    “Main change is suspension geometry change (slight) which reduce “tire drag” a little bit at least that is what I intended to do with that and have worked,” he said.
    Interestingly, the top speed at the end of his quarter mile run of 162.55mph is inches away from the electronically limited top speed (when not in Track Mode) of 163mph.
    As first told earlier this week, Quebec-based Ingenext was able to hack their way past that limiter and reached a top speed of 216mph (347km/h).
    As for this Model S Plaid, the owner says that while the car does not feel like it is slowing down when crossing the line, he feels there is not much room to improve beyond 8.77s with the current setup, but a BIG brake option available from Tesla and several other Tesla specific after market parts dealers at a much reduced price, and TOP OF THE LINE HIGH SPEED RATED STREET TIRES should also be used!
    You can check out the record runs both of TOP SPEED and FASTEST QUARTER MILE time on several TH-cam channels

    Ryan I think you need to give FSD beta another chance and drive it every day every drive for about 2 months. After this I predict you will say it is worth the 12K. There is a learning or "comfort" curve that occurs that is hard to explain but very real. I would feel so let down now if I didn't have my FSD beta. Autopilot although nice seems to lack intelligence after using FSD beta. There is also something about having a system that takes care physically navigating your route all the way to your destination that feels like the ultimate luxury. Just want to convey that not everyone feels that FSD beta is not worth it. It most certainly is to a growing number of people.

    I can't understand how issues like your and so many others can pass the many inspections points that these cars must go through before being delivered to a customer. Unless (Musk and Management) are fully aware and think or assume that customer will take the cars anyways and will be corrected later on. I ordered my Model Y Performance and it is schedule for delivery on March 6, 2022 and I will not take delivery of a car with issues like this. It is just not right.
