I own a 2017 model X I bought new. Only maintenance have been tires. Never been to a service center. Charge at home with solar for free
I really want an X.
You didn’t pay for your solar? Cause I do the same charging my car but my Sun Power solar was $53K
@@PlaidDad Mines on lease, 73$ a month. But I no longer pay for electric bills. So a lot of savings for me, plus property tax discounts. I'm in NY btw, installation was free.
How many solar panels would I need to charge it ???
@@justinliu1014how many years is the lease
Please add bookmarks Ryan!
Then we wouldn’t be tricked into clicking and watching his videos, and he would lose watch time 🥴
Seconded
yup, his whole 20 min video can be summarized in under 1 min. The amount of yapping he does my god. Yes we know cars are big and expense.
If repair costs are so low, why are all the insurance companies jacking up EV insurance costs across the board. If this is not addressed, it will hinder the adoption of ev's.
Mostly because Tesla requires you use Tesla authorized shops to repair, parts are more expensive, and availability of parts. Been in insurance claims nearly 30 years. It will drop eventually, and quite honestly future concerns for insurance on full automation as it potentially reduces accidents and thus ability to rate risk on persons. Next 5 years of insurance industry will be interesting if ev’s really start to take market share.
Repair cost after collision is different from maintenance cost non collision. I think CR is talking about routine maintenance cost.
I think it's the maintenance costs that are low, the repairs in collisions are pretty traumatic.
If you watch the wham Bam Tesla cam channel you will see how often Teslas are totaled. I don’t know what’s going on and whether this is a lack of maturity in the industry to repair the models, but it absolutely is affecting the insurance cost. My insurance cost went up 40% last year.
Not true. Teslas are not expensive to repair, unless the issue is a battery. We have two Model 3s and they are both the lowest cost of ownership that we have ever had. (I pay more in speeding tickets than I do for Tesla maintenance.)
They aren’t talking about car washes with high pressure water, they’re talking about the car washes with rotating brushes. I could totally see that vertical wiper getting damaged by a rotating brush.
The way you can tell those German cars are expensive to repair is to try to buy an extended warranty for them. I got rid of my 1999 BMW when I found out it would need a brake job and it would cost about $900, I can only imagine how much it would be today.
About 2k, ask me how I know lol
Ask me how expensive it is to have another person do ANYTHING for me, instead of just doing it myself.
Let's see, breakfast instead of myself =expensive.
Roof on my house, expensive.
I could go on, but you get the point.
@@owggarage723 I know, right. Breaks are insanely cheap and easy. They probably don't even offer 1 for a Tesla. You don't even need to buy a jack.
RE: carwash mode: when a car is being washed, it isn't in gear (i.e., parked). When the vehicle thinks it's parked and the charge door is swiped, the car thinks you want to charge. When the car is in gear, it knows you don't want to charge and ignores any swipe (e.g. rain, etc.). It's really very simple.
Car wash mode also disables the auto-wipers. Otherwise whenever the windshield gets wet, the wipers would turn on and potentially get damaged.
So car wash mode when it rains got it 😂😂😂
It also closes a little door over the cabin air intake to prevent water from getting on your cabin air filter.
Also the Sensors would go crazy.
dam that sounds dangerous water in your charge port, they need to cap it just in case
Have a model 3 since 2019 and only had to replace my wipers once. The only issue i had was the poor paint quality of the original black “solid” version. Sent it to detailing for polishing and coating costing eur 600.
Toyota or Honda have much better paint jobs. Longer range too. And a nicer interior and dashboard.
The FSD computer should be able to detect when the car is going through a car wash and do it automatically! ;)
Good point, except CT doesn't have FSD yet.
I don't think it can even handle the gate at the car wash, let alone actually taking that u-turn into the machine and chosing which side to go to
the fact tesla has lower maintenance then toyota carolla also which I own is crazy. I always though toyota carolla is the most cheapest in terms of maintenance
Maintenance cost is cheaper is one can do it themselves vs paying someone. Problem is resale. If you do your own maintenance how do you report it to entities like Carfax.
Difference is you can work on and fix your Toyota. Try that with a Tesla. Fix it yourself and Tesla will cut you off their fast charger system. There is a full utube channel dedicated to this issue.
@@davidbarclay4968 realistically no one really fixes their toyota carolla also. I have a 2018 model and its complicated as hell to fix. Oil changes are too complicated and messy to do also and tire rotations need special equipments to do so. I am sure 70s and 80s cars are easier to fix but really all modern cars cant really be fixed by yourself and most people would just go to a mechanic then be bothered like myself included. Dont want to nasty oil spills or dirt on me lol. The max fix I do on my toyota is change the car air filter since thats an easy fix and so is tesla too
@@davidbarclay4968they dont break. No maintenance. !
@@rajarshiroy2599 Speak for yourself I have Toyota and do all my own maintenance including oil changes that are easy as. Comes down to your level of skill. I like the idea of Tesla but in my case won't end up being cheaper due to initial purchase price.
Car wash mode keeps the charge port closed, ignore push to open on the cover and disable auto wiper. If you are not in car wash mode, charge port might open after it got pushed by washing brush and port cover might get damaged. Auto wiper might activate and get damage if washing brush is in the way.
Ryan what tint ratio did u get on ur new M3?
I am waiting for the Model Y when it goes 48 volt...
Steer by wire needs to be the default, if Elon wants yoke to be adopted en mass, they all need to have it eventually.
It's already gone 16volt. Mine has the 16volt low voltage battery.
……… might be already
I don’t have a Cybertruck, but I do use crash mode on my other teslas. It’s been really glitchy lately. I’ll click car wash mode as the crash attendant tells me to shift to neutral. The car will go into car wash mode and then jump out. It kinks up all the works in the car wash and everyone freaks out. I’ve been using car wash mode for two years, so it’s not likely user error. But it seems there is a glitch in the software. Almost to the point I’d rather just shift to neutral and not use the mode.
They are pushing for a cheaper EV because Rivian released the R3X and people are wanting a smaller vehicle. While Tesla does have low maintenance costs, I’d be interested in seeing what accident repair costs are because even the small damage it ends up being a massive repair cost.
Good video thanks.
PS
Your weight loss program is working, keep it up. Good health to you
Bring us the Model Y Juniper!🎉🎉
Hey Ryan, love the channel! I am exploring purchasing a Tesla and you have terrific info. Since I have a Tesla Solar/Powerwall system, and therefore the Tesla app, I have noticed that with all their pricing changes, they have taken used cars off their listings. I am assuming that those were mostly previously leased cars. Any info on what happened to those? The were certainly an interesting possibility for me. Thanks and keep up the good and helpful work!
Ok, low maintenance cost until the BATTERIES GO OUT. That makes up for the savings in early years
I watch your channel all the time... I have a question and perhaps a sow for you to make. Using a Tesla Y map, do you know how to make it go where you want it to go, without it making its decisions. in other words the map will only do what it wants not what i want... do you know of a fix for that. I tried the pin thing but it still makes its own turns and not mine. I hope you can show us how to do that... keep up the good videos!
There are settings in the navigation to make some adjustments (no tolls, etc). Also you can add stops. Beyond that the system is using realtime traffic times. I dont think you can pull and drag route like an iPhone or google map.
Did they change steering wheel in M3 performance?
I'm thinking the rivet-fix adds function and uniqueness, turning the first editions in collectors vehicles in near future......sure to do well on Cars'n Bids
My Bolt has carwash mode. There's a button with a big 'N' on it. It's between the PR and D buttons.
Neutrum?
Hey, does anyone know the second Milwaukee tool being used in the cybertruck pedal fix b-role in this video?
Milwaukee M12 rivet gun
However, why hertz cancel Tesla rental car du to low demand and high repair cost?
Is battery replacement considered maintenance after 10 years
I'm more shocked that Buick and Toyota owners only expect to pay around $4900 over 10 years, vs Teslas $4035. That seems super low, especially for Buick
I love how your source for repair costs spells Tesla “Telsa”. They seem like a SUPER reliable source. 😂😂
Did that survey account for the days of my life I’ve spent bringing the car in to the “service” center for the multiple issues I’ve had with my MY? Days of work lost, 90 minutes each way, mileage on the car…that’s a cost too even if the actual repair is covered by warrantee.
This Consumer Report article has me thinking, if BEVs have less moving parts than ICE, why is Tesla anywhere near Buick.
Recently bought some recommended stocks and now they are just penny stocks. There seems to be more negative portfolios in the last 3rd half of 2023 with markets tumbling, soaring inflation, and banks going out of business. My concern is how can the rapid interest-rate hike be of favor to a value investor, or is it better avoiding stocks for a while?
I truly believe that the 48 volt architecture and Drive By Wire will be in all new refreshed Teslas and new models...
Not a chance, drive by wire is still much more expensive
@@speedismyfriend You have no idea what you are speaking of in this situation. I spent my career in the electronics industry. There are so many areas of cost savings that it is not funny. It did cost Tesla a lot of R&D research revenue, but that cost has been paid, now it is just putting it into all of the vehicles.
Thank goodness you know more than the US department of transportation that said that the incremental cost of a drive by wire system is $1000-$2000...or the companies selling drive by wire systems for $2500...
@@nicolasziegelasch1550 All that I can say is, just wait and see....
@@nicolasziegelasch1550 That was published, prior to Tesla releasing their 48 volt 48 system with drive by wire....
How does one sponsor only a portion of the video?
I have been interested in Tesla, I keep hearing how they are getting easier to buy, the problem is picking up or if needing service in shop, I have to drive 118 miles or over 200 miles to any service, according to the Tesla map, taking time off of work to take over and to pick up, if Tesla really wants to sell, get more service centers, until then I just can’t see myself investing in a Tesla, especially when we have some of the lowest kWh rates in the nation.
Tesla co founder, JB, started redwood to build gig factories to recycle batteries. They have raised a lot of money and have 2 factories is production. Look out for this IPO in coming years.
Strikes me that the greatest maintenance cost for Teslas must be the tires ... that may need to be replaced sooner than on ICE vehicles ... and the EV specific tires may be more expensive than the typical ICE replacement examples.
More expensive, yes. More frequently, not in my experience.
I think that a lot of the "more frequently" comes from overpowered fast cars driven aggressively. I see lots of posts of people getting similar tire life as with their previous gasoline cars, if driven calmly. With my cheapest car Tesla makes (so far), with acceleration set to Chill, I still accelerate faster than about 80% of cars on the road, I find. If you don't need a sports car, skip the Performance versions, set the acceleration to Chill, and drive normally not aggressively. Of course, it's tempting with the peppy acceleration of EVs to drive zippily, but if you can forgo the most absurd levels of acceleration, I think these tire issues, largely aren't.
Agreed. Tyres are around £170 per corner for a Model Y is pretty expensive. The ones for my Smart Car cost less than £50 fitted and balanced. There's no economic reason for some of us to go Electric.
@@rogerfroud300 I chose Prius Prime. I rarely go more than 40 miles in a day. On occasion I need to travel from Miami to a rural part of Alabama. My Prius will outrun the fastest Tesla in "beast mode" on this road trip from Miami to Leroy Alabama. When you get into rural areas, in addition to the extended charging time, your adding hundreds of miles to your trip. In some rural areas of south Alabama you have to be careful not to allow a car to get low on gas as they don't have a lot of gas stations everywhere, so you can imagine what infrastructure for EV's. The cost of charging Tesla's away from home is almost the same as premium gas.
@@bearcubdaycare You're correct. I drive my CTS like I stole it, and will do the same when my cybertruck gets delivered. I can afford tires, life is too short not to be enjoyed.
I've said this to Elon as well but also share it here.... Instead of random price drops, Tesla should work with local electricians to do L2 charger rebates and installs as part of the purchase process. Setup times for someone to come evaluate adding a L2 charger in their garage right through the app, and work with local energy providers on rebates, etc. One of the biggest fears for many people is range anxiety and being unable to charge quickly so making L2 charging a standard practice and part of the buying process will quell a lot of the fears people have and realize how much easier their lives would be with an EV.
Repair costs are good if don't own for more than 10 years. After that time most EVs probably won't be worth fixing and will become worthless. Would like to be wrong about this.
The model s still has a market for resale even with 2013 models that have high milage.
Let me know when EM is gone and Apple CarPlay is available.
Why is Apple CarPlay such a big deal? I have had it before and don’t miss it on my Tesla!
I think you have to take in the tires on these vehicles run $1500 to 2000. Due to the weight, they seem to wear out faster.
You have some real skill as a presenter. Very nice episode. Just found your channel.
A month after getting my MY, some squirrels chewed up a wiring harness. Not covered under warrantee, natch. $1000 to repair.
Thankfully they have not returned. In the 7 months since, no issues.
I can see Tesla vehicles being used as charging hubs for people or things to attach to them or be able to remotely do something, kinda like those electric scooters just sitting there waiting for someone to come along and scan it and ride off, not exactly sure what they can do. But I believe it’ll be something similar to that idea
Superior driving experience is subjective.
Yes, a new Porsche @ 250K delivers a better experience. But not a new Porsche @ 60K.
Telsa? Where did this report come from?
Consumer reports which historically has been anti-tesla.
Given the other manufacturers cars are almost all ICE cars, Tesla's repair costs are surprisingly high esp in the outer year. This is not indicative of what an EV should be like but part of the Tesla engineering philosophy where you delete any part that won't cause issues in the warranty period but don't care about what happens after that
lubricant was probably added by a tech to make it easy to install the pedal cover. good their design is such that hitting the brake stops the accelerator control unlike other major manufacturers that had much uglier accelerator internal malfunction. car wash water have all kinds of harsh chemicals not present in rain water besides minerals that cause temporary spotting.,
Car washes are not all created equal. You have brushed car washes and brushless car washes. I think the warning against using Car Wash mode when going through car washes has to do with brushed car washes and the potential damage they can cause to the windshield wiper and other things. Brushless car washes should be fine but you must use the car wash mode
I hand wash my model 3 only
Ceramic coated and wrapped mine.
Well worth it
A 30-35k vehicle is very competitive in today’s market. Not sure 25k is realistic?
My 2022 MY, had the windshield and side pillars replaced just about a month ago water got in from a rain storm and that’s when I noticed. And when about 6 months ago the driver daylight strip went out and got replaced by Tesla. Service experience 10/10. I have to take it in because my driver chair is feeling like it’s loose and stitching is coming undone, my dashboard wood has splints and warping as well and they said that will get replaced at no charge. Definitely quality issues BUT thus far they have taken care of me and I have never had such an amazing service experience like with Tesla. I’m in the Coral Gables location in Miami, FL.
Tesla does not adhere to normal industry standards of waterproofing their cars which is why there are so many leaks.Saves money...
my 2006 Hyundai costs me less than $400/year in maintenance and that's Australian dollars. Still waiting for a small EV to be produced that can replace it.
I still think the EV future will stagnate unless a new type of "energy storage" is developed.
Can't help but be reminded of Sunny in iRobot
The Cybertruck accelerator pedal "fix" looks like a kludge that might have its own problems. They'll probably properly fix in new Cybertrucks.
"They'll probably properly fix in new Cybertrucks" No of course not, they want to recall every Cybertruck in the future. They love their cars so much!
The truck that can drive thru massive amounts of water can't go thru a car wash?
I have had a model 3 performance for 4 years. I had to replace the brakes, as I rarely used them due to effective one-padel functionality. That costs me roughly 3.000 dollars in local currency, but other than that - it's been really cheap to maintain. Remember to use your brakes ;)
Why did you have to replace the brakes if you seldom used them?
Not having to replace brakes is supposed to be a benefit of one pedal driving.
@@danimal107 When you don't use them - they rust. If you use them, they 'clean' / toil the rust off, but if they get to to rusty, they have to be replaced.
Tesla told me that you could use one pedal driving, but just break hard once in a while. I've turn the one pedal driving off for me, while my wife still uses it 😄
Edit: maybe more of an issue in Denmark than in California...
I like this guy...
Tesla is in talks with 1 major automaker - Elon said this a year ago and nothing has happened. Note on its recent earnings call, Mobileye said it had signed or was in advanced negotiations with 14 automakers....I see every major automaker initially going with one or more external players and also doing it in-house. For instance, VW is using Mobileye for Audi and Porsche, doing a single model in China with Huawei, doing 2 models in China with Xpeng, developing its own system in China with Horizon Robotics, and its own system global with Bosch. That is five paths to self-driving in a consumer car and in addition they are doing robotaxis with Mobileye (already testing in multiple cities)
Seems to me the separation between the top cars should be much larger if EV's actually had lower maintenance and repairs... yet Buick and Toyota essentially have the same numbers.. but they are ICE powered and have more complex powertrains systems.
It seems to me the EV's should be at least 1/2 the total cost of ANY ICE powered car.
BTW.. I also drive an EV now and love it... I was doing an oil change every 5 weeks which sucks.
But I had a Toyota hybrid previously that went 425,000 miles, still runs and drives on its original engine trans and hybrid battery.
Prudenbtly grow our vehicle volumes in a more capex efficient manner - translates to we have built 2 factories in Berlin and Austin that we have only managed to reach 40% of design capacity despite slashing pride and destroying our margins to the bottom of the industry level, so now we need to find something to fill them....
FSD has been "later this year, early next" for 8 years dude.
“Coming soon” 😂😂😂😂😂
I wish Tesla would buy Aptera
I think there is a seriously critical point that needs to be made as far as Model Y developments and a cheaper Model Y. Realize that the updated Model 3, although cheaper to procure, led to a massive surge in demand which led to price increases when the model 3 was/is even more expensive than the model Y. Anyone expected a cheaper model Y should understand that this will without a doubt happen with a Model Y refresh as well. Production cost going down doesn’t directly correlate to purchase price going down. Surely prices will eventually go down (beginning with Model 3, not Model Y). In the short term this probably just means better products for us and better margins for Tesla. Don’t expect an updated Model Y to be noticably cheaper than current prices for at least a full calendar year or maybe more after an update is even released.
A friend of mine has a model 3 , 2019 model. He drove 65k miles. He had problems with a drive unit. Tesla’s tech took more than a week to figured it out. During the time that they diagnosed the issues. They texted him said. The labor cost it is $8000,00😮. But luckily his car is still under warranty .
Driving Tesla has a cheap maintenance cost , that not true.
Drive unit failure seems extremely low for Model 3/Y.
You do realize that even brand new Toyota vehicles have engine failures too right? It's called an AVERAGE because it's the collective of more than one person's outcome.
@@jameshathaway5117 i know that . Here I am talking about the labor cost for diagnostics for $8000,00? Unexceptionable. I never see before. I already owned 6 brand new combustion cars that includes Lexus, Toyota, Honda. I never payed that much of the labors . Right now I owning the a Tesla too. I hope I don’t have to see this type of the problem.
@@totielam ah now I understand more. Your wording didn't make it clear that the $8k was for diagnostics rather than repair costs. If it is for diagnostic and repair it's pretty on par with gas cars but if it was diagnostic alone I agree that is pretty ridiculous. Drive unit failures at low miles are very rare statistically but this kind of thing happens with all cars gas or electric. Sorry I misunderstood the point you were making.
They need to work on the manufacturing and QC processes. Fit and finish just isn't there and the improvement is slow. From what I hear the China factory produces solid vehicles though...
Is this opinion based on experience? I’ve had my Model 3 for a year and there have been exactly zero defects. Panel fit is good and the paint (the base white) is really beautiful with nice sparkle and about the best finish of any car I’ve ever owned.
Sandy Munroe says the QC and fit and finish are now top class. I'd believe the guy who said the M3 was the worst car he'd ever seen in his career when he got the first one and says it's now world class over some random person who hasn't spent his whole life in the industry.
Remember we would all be driving SELF DRIVING CARS by yr 2020 ? I’m waiting for my flying cat I mean Car
I will continue to wait until a 25k Tesla is available.
Soon after fsd is complete
Never happen.
I want to know about those repairs, how much is cosmetic rather than functional. If I were to buy a Tesla and scratch the side, I'd be sad but overall I wouldn't care. Teslas have so much power, that I'd expect their costs to be because they went a little crazy taking off really fast.
That 25k tesla might be after project gas savings. Currently Elon says MY are $29k with the Gov Rebate and Gas savings. M3 might hit that 25k description 🤔
Not sure why tesla insurance seems to be much higher than other brands if maintenance and repairs should be cheaper
My insurance has been less than $80/ month with tesla insurance
When your Porsche EV Taycan 150,000 is worth $50 k in just 2 years 😆😆
Tesla could make the 3 or Y below $30k and still make money but they would need something new in the $50K+ range. Maybe a larger SUV different from the Model X without the fancy doors.
It's probably pulling in air somewhere that water isn't normally getting because water is being sprayed up and weirdo
If ya can't parallel park it...
Practice
It's fine
So sports car still not showing up once again. If there was more charging infrastructure across the US, EV’s maybe more welcomed.
Yeah if it’s so cheap to maintain, why their insurance is so damn expensive….
They wanted $1,500 to replace 2 flat tires on my 23 Model 3 Performance...
Tesla has the same idea as modern games do. We can ship it unfinished if we can fix it with software patches.
Yes, and their profits show they are on the right path to success.
I hope “new products” include Roadster and Cyberquad. Why doesnt Tesla spin off company(s) for products that dont align with Elon’s Mars goals. Perhaps a tax reason? I’m sure Drew Baglino or others would consider leading, no?
Tesla has zero to do with Elons Mars goals. Tesla and SpaceX have very little to do with eachother. Not sure what made you think to mix the goals of the two companies.
@@jameshathaway5117 NOPE! products, products, technologies and growth are associated with his Mars ambitions…he said so!
A 10-year-old Tesla we'll have 150,000, mi and at least with one battery replaced. Do you even believe what you are saying? How much a new battery cost on top of those expenses you mentioned?
There are many Teslas out there with over 250k miles on them without ever having a battery change. The model 3 and Y have very low battery failure rates. They actually have a high mileage club that tracks this stuff.
@@jameshathaway5117 yet there are a lot of Teslas out there with battery failures at $80,000 as well. What is the percentage of those so-called Teslas with 250k with no battery replaced?
@@emrebingol527 the failure rate directly coincides with the battery type. For instance the 2170 and 4680 batteries that are designed specifically for automotive applications are proving themselves very robust. Most of the high milage cars you will find with the original battery are 2170 cell model 3s. The 4680 batteries look very promising with extremely low failure rates but they are relatively new to the market so most of these vehicles don't have high enough miles to tell for sure. From my understanding the 2170 cell cars have a replacement rate around 12 percent amongst high milage cars. It's hard to find definitive numbers because we are looking at multiple models with multiple battery chemistries from different manufacturers at play. Also I'm assuming when you said $80,000 you ment the battery being replaced at 80k miles not costing $80k. There is no battery pack other than the semi that cost anywhere near that much.
Where is modl2?? the vehicle that would, give tesla the icing on the cake,??😂
There’s no reason why a Smaller TSLA will sell more than other top sellers, Toyota Corolla only sell in the top 1-3 because they have versions of the car that are $15k, RAV is not small and neither is Model Y, smaller car will not sell like they think it will. Make the model Y $30k and it will sell 3-4million
My toyota, almost 4 years, only oil change and air in the tires.... Can tesla beat that?
Yes... did you miss the part where they said the average maintenance cost for the first 5 years was around $500? That means many people experience litteraly ZERO cost of maintenance in that time. Even oil changes every 6 months will add up to around $500 over 5 years and those are unavoidable. That's why the statistics say Toyota is more expensive to maintain than Tesla...
Given that the Model 3 refresh isn't any cheaper than the previous version, I'm skeptical that the Model Y Juniper refresh will result in lower prices, especially if that refresh increases demand, it seems unlikely that they would lower the price at first.
My 2022 Y Performance has been in the shop several times and each time the service center could not determine why the front motor was being disabled or regen braking disabled. Now my confidence in Elon software is so low that when sister company SpaceX launches a rocket I get under a bridge. I really like Elon and respect what he has done and I wanted to like my Y, but it has no soul and I will revert to a BMW or Porsche when the lease ends.
Hertz said that the Tesla was very expensive to maintain and repair and because of that they got rid of many Teslas in their business. What is going on here? Can you address that issue?
Link me to the article that says that.
Hertz needs to invest in their own repair shop instead of farming it out.
Hertz only quoted the collision cost as excessive not maintenance.
Let me guess, he’s confident they’ll all be out next year
Thanks Ryan. I dont understand why we need a 3rd party like consumer reports to come out with a study that finds EV's are cheaper to maintain...well dud of course they are
Why is Tesla so expensive to insure?
They need to stop with thr FSD, its never happening
Never is a long time
There is a situation of being between a rock and a hard place. It’s like tube televisions. Think anyone would buy on of those now? This is where the EV situation is coming now. With every new generation of batteries the older models are CRTs. That’s why those cars are piling up now. Most people can see the writing on the wall. In 3-5 years range will increase to 700-1000 per charge with 5 minute charge times. Not only that they will be exceedingly cheaper. 50” standard definition tv in 1996 - $2,500. Today 85” 4K flat screen $1100. In 10 years it will be impossible to sell ICE cars mainly because they will no longer be manufactured. In EVs it’s all about battery tech. That is changing every year.
Highly doubt recycling the batteries will make them cheaper. More environmentally friendly yes
No Apple CarPlay is big inconvenience
💪🏻👏🏻
Perfect sponsor for us who just got let go by Tesla. lolol
they never claimed to be premium, brining ev to masses is the goal
I’ll pull up to the woods in my cybertruck and my cyberbot will get out and help me cut, drag, lift, split, and load my firewood.
whats Telsa
The one and only thing they need to work on at tesla right now is switching V12 speed controls back to the driver as it used to be. What a bunch of BS.
Tesla should follow FORD'S and HYUNDAI'S lead and produce a compact pickup. Engineer Simone Geitz? Produced a Model 3 derivative called the Truckla. This vehicle could be produced on the Model 3 line.
Ah yes the industry leader should take notes from the companies that can't make a profit on their EVs... makes perfect sense.
@@jameshathaway5117 - I think it DOES make sense. Suppose Tesla had a Model 3 quality and cost pickup to compete directly with the Ford, Hyundai, etc, pickups. I think the buyers of small pickups would have good reason to choose the Tesla version. The fact that the others can't make an EV profitably is part of why a Tesla truck would be a winner.
@@Ralphie419 the number 1 best selling truck is the F150. The market for the Cybertruck is bigger than if they made a smaller pickup to compete with the Ranger ect. It's all about economies of scale and smaller pickups would be more difficult to keep the costs down on due to lower sales volume.
@@jameshathaway5117 - You're probably right that the market would be smaller and they might not choose to go into it. Part of why I think they SHOULD, though, is that *I like small pickups* and would buy one, whereas I have no desire for an F150 size truck or larger. We can't always get what we want, can we?
@@Ralphie419 don't get me wrong I would love for them to make a small pickup and I think it would sell but it would probably end up being more expensive than the model Y due to economy of scale. A little ranger extended cab size Tesla would be sweet and probably beat the doors off all the 90s sport trucks however for the foreseeable future I think it's a pipe dream. But hey dreamers gotta dream brother.
