@@ruk2023-- That problem has been solved for years. Most cars will have the labels molded into the plastic or printed on the back side. Printed labels haven't been a thing since the mid-00s.
Not really. A CLE 450 starts at $65,000. A base E320 coupe in 1995 started at $63,000, in 1995 money. That's $130,000 adjusted for inflation, for an E-class. Mercedes-Benz has really done well at reducing costs while keeping the same quality as they've traditionally had.
$70k for this is insane.. it’s an entry-model Mercedes not a freaking Escalade Platinum. This is ridiculous. Edit: Yes, the replies are correct.. an Escalade Platinum is far more expensive ($120-$158k) but I was merely distinguishing between a hefty and economical price point in a dramatic fashion.. I would’ve said “not a RR Ghost,” also, which just implies that even though a RR Ghost is far more expensive, the price for a ‘24 CLE is that much overpriced. If I was to use “BMW X5” or “GMC Yukon” for an example instead, it wouldn’t have been as convincing.
The CLA is entry level. This is in between the C and E class, plus it has the turbo 6. Arguably too much more than the equivalent C class coupe was, but far from entry level.

@@strangeclouds7 I totally understand this. Point is, we can still hear his opinion and his thoughts on the car, while watching him drive it; one thing does not exclude the other. Just a few takes would make a huge difference. He could try, it's not a big deal.
Oh, I would like the sport of a GT - the problem is I can't handle it, not well. There is a way to drive Mercedes the way they were intended to be driven, a way that fits the capabilities of the model and year. And they give you "a little extra", but that does not mean you have to use it all the time.
Even aside from the melted soap exteriors, this current generation of Merc interiors are just awful looking. That alone would put me off them. A mate has a new e class and it justs so tacky
Sooooo.... Did anyone else notice that after Doug finished talking about the "seatbelt delivery mechanism"... that it was sticking out behind him as if thinking "Uuhm... hello? Is anyone there?"
I'm really not a fan of these interiors. I think Mercedes should be able to come up with something a bit more timeless and classic looking while still having modern features and appointments. Those lines above the glove box especially make it look cheap. All in all I think this interior reminds me of something I might expect to see in some sort of Kia EV. The seats are nice though.
It's ironic that the Germans are now making gaudy gadget-filled boats while the Americans are making understated luxury cars. If GM and Ford could improve their quality, they could be major players again in the luxury space.
mercedes has been doing seat controls (and now seat heating/cooling) on the door for ages and i cannot understand why more automakers don't do it as well. it's brilliantly straightforward
I hate this current design language with no lines, can't wait until Mercedes finally fire the designer and bring some fresh new blood to their design office! Mercedes used to make the most beautiful cars in history in the mid to late 2000s, and now they all look like soap bars.
Bring back the Teutonic tanks. Pulling up in a Mercedes-Benz used to mean that someone important had arrived. It didn't need to shout because it had presence.
@@bwofficial1776 I don't need to be viewed as someone important, but I want to look back every time I leave my car. I know I have a weird taste, cars like the W212 or X204 aren't typically viewed as beautiful, but no lines at all is just so boring! And MB cars have been looking like that for decades now: W212 was launched in 2008, ended production in like 2014-ish, so it's been at least 10 years, and Mercedes keeps spawning those uninspiring generic looking 1990s anachronysms of car designs. And their EQ series.... not even Doug thinks they're pretty! And Doug likes lots of simple designs like old Aston Martins.
I had a ‘22 C300 for a while with a similar interior. Same pinstriped dash, steering wheel, and controls, but different seats. I thought it was gorgeous. I didn’t keep that car long, but not because of its looks.
Hey Doug, assuming that you shot this video in your garage: be careful when opening the navigation system as it can give away your pretty accurate location. Wasn’t difficult finding it using only google maps, based on this video. Just a friendly tip😊
I owned a CLK350 last decade. It was attractive, but ultimately just one big compromise. It had sporting pretensions, but ultimately wasn't really that sporty. It had a bit more space than one might have expected for a car like it, but still wasn't very practical. What finally did it in for me were those doors. Long, heavy and a PITA in parking lots.
Where Mercedes got it right is by making the interiors of all of their new cars basically the same as the new Mercedes S class. Unfortunately: in doing so they also kind of made these cars boring as now you can get a vehicle that feels like a much more expensive vehicle, but isn’t and therefore is not necessarily as exciting since you know that everyone has the exact same thing that you do if they’re in a recent vehicle. The GLC for example looks and feels exactly like the Mercedes S class when you get it in certain trims.
I’m so mad they discontinued the E coupe. That was one of the most beautiful coupes on the road. I loved my 2014 model. Pillarless windows were such a nice touch that barely any cars have. This car sucks
Track pad upper area has dedicated arrows for next and previous track- just slide your finger left or right. It’s always has been there since trackpads come out.

I would’ve said “not a RR Ghost,” also, which just implies that even though a RR Ghost is far more expensive, the price for a ‘24 CLE is that much overpriced. I've already commented it but here I go again: We do appreciate the pace of your videos, and we know that part of what Doug DeMuro car reviewing process is to keep it simple, Doug-oriented video, but it would be really interesting if we could watch the dash, the cabin behavior and the road when you were driving. Perhaps I'm the unsmart one not to realize what's the point of poiting the camera towards you at all, however I think some takes of the dashboard and the road would be worth it, though. Great video, as always.
@@amazo991-2 I think the reason Doug doesn't care is because there's dozens of other car reviewers that do that. People watch Doug because they like his style and want his opinion on the car. If you want to see the dash and the road you can easily find another review that shows that

Agree. The 2nd Gen CLK was one of the nicest Merc designs ever. The new ones aren't a match for the sleek look of the CLK.
Saw this twice and it's still good!
I Have A CLK500, The Seat Belt Presenters Is A Feature Of The CLKs They Brought Back.

With the interior of an C-Class. It‘s just plain disrespectful to sell that thing.
Really like that Mercedes interior and infotainment setup they've been doing! Really good looking materials and tech!
