Exactly. As much as I understand the need/push for EVs, and there's some great ones out there, you will never again get that engine rumble on cold start, the smell of gasoline, the vibration through the shifter, the linear winding up of a naturally aspirated engine. I'm blessed to have a 2019 Bullitt as a daily and the cold starts, exhaust and rowing my own gears is what makes me love my commute.
There will be time when I will get an EV or PHEV either due to costs or regulations, but for the time being, my passion is fueled by my V8.

Doug's excitement about this car is so obvious in the video, but when he got back from borrowing it to shoot this video, he experienced an equal part something else that I often feel after driving this car: relief. Every drive in this car is an EVENT. Even when it doesn't catch on fire.
My dad bought this car in 1974 and it was after its third fire in the late 70s that he took it off the road (well actually it took itself off the road). I was born in the late 80s and the car was never roadworthy during my life until I was 31 years old. As a child, it was deeply disappointing (and not credible) to tell your schoolmates that you had a Lamborghini but it was a paperweight Lamborghini. I'm delighted that it's back on the road now and getting shared with enthusiasts like Doug or Jason Cammisa, but also all of the strangers who approach me when I'm out in it and simply thank me for driving my own car. I've never owned anything that has had that effect on people before. Seeing it on the road is quite literally a dream come true for me.

Around 1985-85, I saw a Miura for sale in a San Antonio used car lot (I thought is was a Pantera). I stopped in and asked how much they wanted for it... $13,000. When asked if I could test drive it, the salesman said "sure". He brought out the key, and I noticed it had a hinge at the head. It turned out that (at least in this one) the ignition switch was close to other dashboard parts and a normal length key would not have fit. I still remember the sound of the engine (which started instantly) behind me. I backed the car out of it's parking space, shifted into first, and then another salesman came running out to say they had taken a deposit on the car and we couldn't drive. So I pulled it back into it's space and shut it off. I got to drive a bright yellow Miura about a total of 30 feet!

My grandfather had one in red. The story on how he became a Miura owners was interesting. He was in Italy on vacation and walked into an Alfa Romero dealership. The Alfa 1750 caught his eye and he wanted to buy one on the spot. Little back ground on my grandfather. He owned several heavy diesel service centers in southern Florida and NYC. He also had a franchise license to sell Peterbilt trucks. Anyways, he purchased the Alfa 1750 and while waiting to finalize the deal, the owner of the Alfa Romero dealership asked my grandfather what he did for a living. My grandfather told him the owner of the Alfa dealership what he did for a living and the owner of the dealership told my grandfather that he loved American trucks and wanted a long nose ring. My grandfather told him that he could arrange a deal and the owner stated that he wanted it for his farm. My grandfather told him that he had a slightly used 1968 Peterbilt 359 and that he would part with it for 28k. The owner of the dealer then said I have a car that I don’t fit into very well, but is beautiful and I will trade you the Alfa 1750 and a Miura for the long nose 359. To make a long story short, the deal was made and my grandfather came home with a 1968 Miura and an Alfa 1750. My father inherited both cars and the business when my grandfather passed and still owns both cars.

Doug, I would love to see this park next to your Ford GT! Transverse V12. Crazy then and now. Odd that these cars were incredibly inexpensive in like the 80s/90s. In the Countach era, these were looked at as dated styling. 😅 Like you could’ve gotten one for $30,000. And the issue was to maintain them would be very expensive. Now that they’re worth more it’s worth it to maintain them. When this debuted and was parked next to giant American cars, it looked so crazy like a spaceship. You have to remember that in the late 60s American cars even muscle cars were huge. This was 43 inches tall like this thing.

OK… that’s enthusiasm and happiness in driving that did it for me. That’s an “I gotta get one” kinda drive… Doug sell it all and get one!

What an absolutely amazing experience and video Doug! In terms of pure excitement and joy the Miura gave you, I think it tops your emotional Doug score. What an icon and it didn't disappoint in any way!

Honestly Doug...the first time I came across one of your videos was after searching for Miura reviews, only to realize that you hadn't yet done one. Since then, after watching countless reviews and videos on your channel, it's truly great to see you completely gleeful behind the wheel of this gorgeous car. You are like a kid in the candy shop. And I'm reminded of my childhood and my love for cars. Thank you.

Like a lot cars of that era, the seating position was often jokingly described as' Italian Standard Ape', meaning you needed short legs and long arms, the pedals were often off-set towards the center of the car, because of wheel arch intrusion. Great review Doug!

Such great fun to (vicariously) join you on your day with this amazing car! And I’m glad you (and it) did not catch on fire.
Thanks to the owner for lending it to you so we could all get an up close and personal look inside.
It’s hilarious that the window switches are labeled (duh!) but virtually all the rest of the switches and warning lights are not. If I had the car, I’d have to get one of those label maker things to put names on them.
    Great video, Doug.

I think this is why Doug became a car reviewer. Just look how happy this guy is in the intro and at the end.

imagine being a passer-by and seeing a t-shirted man sitting on the curb with an iphone on a stand crying his eyes out because he finally gets to film what you consider to just be "an old sports car, maybe one of those ferraris"

On of the most beautiful car ever. To me, Doug seems a very humble person. He puts lost and lots of hard work to bring these amazing reviews to us.

Doug really loves what he is doing. Every review, even if it isnt some super rare supercar he brings alot of enthusiasm.

I should hope so, he makes millions doing it. Enthusiasm is the bare minimum.
