I bought the bmw 760e over the Merc in the uk. I’ve just been informed by bmw there’s a recall on the car which involves removing the dashboard. There’s no way the technicians can take the dash out and put it back together again. As always bmw customer service have washed their hands from this problem and the dealer who is Miles away just want me to take it to any local dealer. So I can see a very big problem coming. So please before buying the bmw or any other bmw please check if it’s on a recall o know X5’s and some x7 d are also on a recall and more than 1.5 million cars worldwide. Bmw don’t want the cars back. There’s just no quality control any more. This car wasn’t cheap either. It was approx £140k Please do your research with buying a new bmw.
Mercedes will continue to provide a more luxury focused experience, whereas BMW will focus on driving dynamics. It's good to have a choice. Mercedes needs to fix quality and finish on the interior whereas BMW needs to consolidate a design language and prove their cars will last for more than 5 years. It's more often to see old mercedes than bmw's on the roads.great video, thanks.
BMW reliability has skyrocketed as of late, so I think they already working on that. And they recently made their lead design swap over to Rolls Royce, so I hope their designs will improve soon too. Cause if it wasn't for the design really BMW wouldve washed the floor with Mercedes here. Rly disappointed in interior quality on Mercedes as of late, they feel rly cheap especially if not trimmed out.
For some reason that 7 series is starting to grow on me. Has something of a Rolls Royce squarish vibe to it, whils the merc is more flowing. The bmw imo looks way more distinguishable whilst the S class, somebody that doesn't really now what it is could think its a c class or and e. Wasn't it like announced too that bmw's design lead is swapping over to rolls royce?

Have the S580e W223. Faults so far - High voltage battery warning (Do not drive warning) within first week. Back to service centre and solved. - Fuel cap actuator failed, cannot open fuel cap. I drive 95% in EV mode so didn't realise for months. Replaced. - Charging port actuator failed, twice. Replaced both times. - Water got into the front lights resulting in total failure (no lights, no signal), twice. Replaced both times - Has idled rough in engine mode (car shakes even) since new, which MB says will go away, it's been two years, it has not gone away. - Car won't shift gears when engine mode is engaged from EV mode, will take 10-20 seconds before it will shift up. MB says it's normal, does not feel normal. - Left rear passenger door blind stuck, won't close. Minor faults/non-fault, complains - Fingerprint sensor almost never works, maybe because I have dry hands but the feature is useless for me. Use facial recognition instead, don't use it personally - One OTA update will not install no matter what for months. Solved when brought in for service - Cannot fit two full size luggage in boot - Self driving when in stop start traffic will disengage after 10-20 seconds, don't know how it works. Not helpful in traffic jam. BMW (iX) does not disengage no matter how long you stop - Steering wheel buttons to scroll through options is inaccurate - Volume control on steering wheel "jumps too much", have to use the control on centre console for more granular adjustment - Update seems to have removed rear passenger massage function. Only the kids use it. - Since I am one of those no-chauffeur S-Class owners, not having ventilated seats for driver and front passenger seems like a cheap move (maybe country specific) Otherwise when it works it is a nice comfortable car as you expect. Could drive better
So conservative. Bangle butt E65 745i 1st time BMW outsold them & have been #1 global premium ever since. Only S-Class I've been in was a cab, have yet to ride in 7er (& given size & price of i7 probably never will).

Hi Thomas, the new BMW is hideous looking. I will choose the S Class every time over the ugly Bimmer. I do not care for the big screens in the S Class. I am enjoying my 2008 S550 very much. It has many high tech options....but no turbo and its still very spacious and luxurious.
Awesome review, thank you, Thomas. I think the new seven series looks fantastic. That being said the S class is more elegant and the interior is a bit classier. The BMW has a beautiful interior, but it’s more futuristic and cold…. Not necessarily in a bad way.
First of all, please don't put accusations out there without really knowing me. And concisely about this: Check out the final conclusion again at the very end of this video where I explicitly say I'd pick the GLC. What I am doing in the review itself is looking at the markets: Because on the Northern American market, the GLC is not available with air suspension nor rear-axle steering which make a huge difference in driving in Europe and the X3 is way cheaper in the US than it is in Germany for example. So as I pointed out, the price-performance ratio in the US is way better for the X3 whereas in Europe you have more "distance" in luxury driving between GLC and X3. I have no brand bias what so ever. More to my personal car history here: th-cam.com/video/NCWeljyA0X4/w-d-xo.html
Driven both the new eclass and new 5 series. Overall the BMW is the better vehicle. It's better engineered and has superior dynamics. Looks wise are subjective and interior is more comfortable in the 5 series.
I feel like modern BMWs are overhated. They are great cars, even with their controversial styling. Mercedes is more settled with their styling, aside from the EQ sedans they are more evolutionary and not radical. And generally they know their stuff with luxury cars as well. I'd say with modern luxury cars it's mostly a matter of taste. None of them are a bad choice, if we take money out of the equation (you shouldn't buy them anyway if you don't want to lose a lot of money) However in terms of strategy it seems BMW is a bit more successful at the moment, but that can always change - both brands had their highs and lows. If Mercedes gets better with for example interior quality (which it seems they probably already did) and gets their EV sales up then they are pretty much on par again I'd say.
VERY different companies, world's largest truck manufacturer made luxury sedans while motorcycle manufacturer smaller upstart challenger who awoke sleeping giant from their slumber (Daimler had to buy independent tuner AMG from former employees to compete with M, now most manufacturers have performance divisions, but it was small independent who kick-started it). E class>5. Series
X5>GLE
X3>GLC
Both
Neither, A5 Coupè
