Let me tell you this, I saw Journey live in Philly at The Spectrum in 1986 when I was in the Army stationed at Fort Dix NJ. Steve Perry and Journey were better live than recorded. That man’s voice is without equal.
The lead singer is no longer with him they've had a substitute for quite some years that sounds pretty close. Within the past couple years as well the lead singer put out some songs there was a lot of things going on a lot of mental games. He had said that he would never see again but a past relationship who died of cancer he promised her that he would sing again. It's like those songs that he put out only a few went ballistic and people were also saying that he was going to go back to journey but he has not and they've invited him back but he still will not do it I'm just fortunate I had the chance to see them you're from the Denver area and I am too and I got to see them
I had the pleasure of seeing them live in ‘82 (I think) Fantastic! Probably one of my favorite concerts! All their songs are bangers, can’t go wrong. I think you should react to one of their Live performances, you’ll see that they sound even better Live!
Steve Perry, lead singer, has probably the greatest voice of rock history but is rarely spoken about. His range and effortlessness is insane. Pitch is crazy!
Steve dated a friend of mine in high school before he met Sherri (solo hit Oh Sherri - and that’s the actual Sherri in the mv). He and Sherri were together during the journey years but didn’t last. A while back he met a lovely new lady he said was the love of his life and he committed to her despite a cancer diagnosis. Though she eventually passed away, he said he had no regrets because they were soulmates. Steve Perry is an extraordinary talent and a personal hero. Journey never recovered from refusing to wait for Steve to have his surgery and while I follow his career, I left them when they abandoned him. I’m loving your reactions. This song still makes me cry.
Steve is reportedly making a new solo album and possibly going on a tour in the US, of course depending on his health. He had to leave Journey to have hip surgery and when he recovered, the band refused to let him return. They have had 2 singers since but NONE is anywhere close to Steve Perry!
Steve’s never been married. He had two long term relationships. He has a daughter and grandchildren, but he has really been protective of them. Steve is still a tremendous person.
I saw a documentary with Steven Perry and he said he decided to walk away from music to take care of his Mother Journey will never be the same but thank you Steven for your gift to all of us❤
Journey's catalog is deep. They have had 19 top 40 Billboard singles in the US and have a total of 25 gold and platinum albums. Their lead singer, Steve Perry, left the band for a solo career, but they are still touring with a new lead, Arnel Pineda, whom they discovered in 2007 on TH-cam.
Steve left because he had health issues, no longer had the fire, lost his mom, not to pursue a solo career. Steve can be replaced. He is the heart of Journey
As a family man myself I can appreciate the feelings of leaving one part of your life behind to be an active part in your children's lives. I applaud you for making the personal sacrifice to be a father. Much respect man, much respect. Keep talking, one of the reasons I like your channel is that you're an open book to us your audience. Thank you for that.
I would say faithfully is either tied or right behind don't stop believin as their second biggest hit ever. They have many. But the next song you should listen to by them is separate ways and/or anyway way you want it.
You will Love a journey deep dive! Steve Perry was called “The Voice“ since Way back. He has a voice that’s pitch perfect and beautiful like nobody else and he makes it look so easy. There’s so many other songs to start with but this was an incredible choice. Loved your reaction and I knew it would hit you. Make sure if nothing else you do “open arms” and watch most of them Live at a concert I believe 1981 but it was in Houston. They will keep blowing your way… Separate ways, who’s crying now, lights, etc. love you man. Enjoy❤

What has always amazed me with the song Separate Ways is how great/rock'n it is, but then the went and made what is now gone down in history as the worst video ever made during MTV's prime.
I am a 68 year old white woman without a racist bone in my body. But all your talk about rap music gives me a whole different perspective on rappers. I love your stories. Don't stop talking.

And BP, you sharing your thoughts and your life with us is part of what makes your vids so special. Don't let the few that don't get it make you hold back, keep doin what you do Bro we love it ❤
My husband is an OTR truck driver. This is our song! We change some of the lyrics to fit our situation. "Traffic lights, over your blacktop world, dodging all the clowns to stay alive. Through space and time, there's always another load. Wondering where you are and lost without you." After 35 of years of marriage, 25 years of it him driving, I'm forever his, faithfully.
Steve Perry was, is, and will always be THE BEST SINGER of the 80's. Anyone else, no matter how much they sound like him is, just that, a sound alike. Journey songs were always perfection.
So many good songs....Any Way You Want It, Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin', Separate Ways...a great band to deep dive on! I love the discussions you have on the songs and the memories you share. Keep talking. This song was written by the keyboardist Jonathan Cain...
Dude, plenty and yes, they add up, both ballads and pop rock. Steve Perry was the lead singer at the beginning and height of their popularity. Check out their songs, “Wheel in the Sky”, “Lovin, Touchin’, Squeezin’”, “Still They Ride”, “Any Way You Want It”, “Lights”, “Open Arms”, Who’s Crying Now”, “Dixie Highway”, “Too Late” and “Lovin’ You is Easy”. Oh yeah. “Separate Ways” as well

The song was written by Jonathan Cain the keyboardist. He wrote it for his wife. Unfortunately they didn't stay together. Steve Perry is the singer. He left the band officially in 1996 because of a hip injury that prevented him from touring. Plus, I think he was tired of touring as well. Journey is still together with a lead singer that sounds remarkably like Steve Perry, but no one can really replace him. He is alive and kicking and after being out of the business for years, released a solo album a couple of years ago. Check out Foolish Heart from his solo album Street Talk released in 1984.
Arnel sounds nothing like Steve Perry. He needs to just quit trying and just sing like himself. He's a good singer but no one should try to sound like Steve. You're just going to get your feelings hurt.
@@trb2021 If people listen closely, sometimes you can hear Arnel's accent. I agree he sounds nothing like Steve Perry. Arnel is a good singer, but he does need to sing like himself, and keep it real.

Music should bring people together because soul has no color etc .. Definitely check out more Journey. This song also brings back so many memories of my childhood. 😊
The song was written by the keyboard and piano player to his wife. If you like live performances, "Mother Father" live in Houston 1981 is one of the best you will ever see.
My wife was in love with Steve Perry and she saw Journey and then Steve in his solo career and still has all of her concert tickets from those shows and I’m convinced that if Steve showed up on our doorstep I’d be left there by myself and it wouldn’t surprise me. She’s been in love with him since the early 80s. This is one of my favorites.
OMG, his name is Steve Perry, the keyboard player wrote it about HIS wife, they got a divorce oddly enough because he cheated. Perry is very much still alive, released an album 5 years ago, still a great singer!
He has an incredible voice that spans 3 full octives. Perry is renowned for his countertenor vocal range, which spans from F♯2 to A5. Perry's voice has been described as a "high 'tenor altino'
What is uncanny is that they inspired so many other artists to their number one hits and Grammy awards, yet never got them themselves. Also many great bands got their start opening for them.
My mom died in 1993 and Faithfully was her and my dad’s song. I didn’t cry at all until this song played at her funeral. It was like a damn broke. Took me over a decade to hear Faithfully and not cry. It’s so easy to connect to the emotion from the vocals and instrumental in every Journey song.
Journey had many hits. Please listen to more Journey, what a great band. Steve Perry's (lead singer) wife died of cancer and he just stopped touring. He is such a humble, lovely man.
Loved some of their older tunes from the late 70's....but anything they've recorded is golden. Another incredible ballad from the Escape album would be "Still They Ride".....and anything live from them is even better than studio....check out any live clip from their Houston Concert from like 81 I think.
There are several videos from the Houston concert. They all show just how great of a band they are. Steve Perry's voice sounds like it is straight from the studio, until he says "Houston", and Neal Schon's guitar playing is mind blowing.
His name is Steve Perry and is now 75 years old and never married. Jon Cain, who plays the piano in the band, wrote Faithfully about his wife of that time.
Jon Cain, keyboards, wrote this song for his first wife Tane. He is now on his third wife. Journey is amazing live. Steve Perry excels live. Listen to Journey live Houston '81'. The whole concert is unbelievable. Mother, Father will blow you away.
Steve Perry stepped in as Lead Singer in the 70’s. He was brought into the band as a supposed Portuguese cousin working as a roadie. Very sweet man. He left Journey to take care of his mom and then he got sick so Journey fired him. He went solo for a stent and his first hit solo “Oh Sherrie” written about his gf who was in the video. They broke up.
Watch their performance of Mother Father (live in Houston) to get an idea of how phenomenal this band was. Every instrument was 🔥 & of course Steve’s vocals were legendary. They don’t call him “The Voice” for nothing. Enjoyed your reaction!
Yes!!! Great band! Just what I needed on this snowy thursday to jam out to Journey! I love watching your reactions - with all the stories and eating!! 🙂
The keyboardist Jonathan Cain wrote the song. Steve Perry never married. Journey still tours but with other members. To many people, journey's sound is Steve Perry's voice. 🎶🙂🎶
Saw them live just outside of Pittsburgh PA in 1981. Fantastic band live. His voice never faltered!🔥❤️ Mother, Father live in Houston 1981 concert is a must see!! Highlights the guitar Steve's vocals and the piano too!!
Open Arms has the same deep emotional connection as Faithfully, only it’s when they get to be together again. I’ve always considered the two songs as parts A and B of the continuing love story. I started taking singing lessons at 60 because it’s the scariest thing on earth. I’ve been working on Faithfully and Open Arms for years and I’m finally close to singing it to my lady. I got to see them with Steve in 78 and two times after that. It is one of my best “misspent youth” memories. “Patiently” kind of fits between Faithfully and Open Arms as “what it’s like on stage every night” Other great songs are Lights, Wheel in the Sky, Feelin’ That Way, Anytime, and of course, Separate Ways - so far the hardest SP song I’ve found to try and sing. The new singer seems like a super humble and decent guy, but it feels like a cover band now. The guitar player is an obnoxious, self-important ass, but they were definitely a once in a lifetime combination. Oh, and the lead guitar player player and the keyboard player before Jonathan Cain both played for Carlos Santana in the original band.
I love the line where he says " I get the joy of rediscovering you" It is a beautiful song. I was 16 yrs old when this came out and it was me and my boyfriends song just like it was every couple's song lol.
Should I react to more Journey? YES What songs of their should I react to? YES Do they have other great hits? YES What should I check out? YES What are their great songs? YES Here's a tip ANYTHING from their 1981 Live in Houston "Escape" tour is GOLD.
Saw this band twice in Atlanta in the 80s. Steve Perry has the greatest rock voice ever! He sounded just like this live. Thank you for reacting to Journey.
Jonathan Cain, their keyboard player wrote this. Cain has been married three times. His first wife was singer Tané McClure for whom he wrote "Faithfully". Steve Perry, the lead singer has never been married, by choice. He is still alive and will be turning 75 on January 22, 2024.
One of my all time favorite songs. I love the lines: "...the road aint no place to start a family..." and also, "..the joys of rediscovering you..." When my husband and I were separated for a few weeks due to work, I played this song a lot.
As the wife of a sailor I can relate to this song, my husband had the band at the military club I worked at dedicate this to me every weekend when we were dating, it got us married lol, that was 40 years ago and it still warms my heart to hear it.
I ve always told my wife - if there ever was a singer I d want to be , it would be Steve Perry. He was called the voice. To me , he has the best rock voice ever. Two others who are in Steve s class would be Lou Gramm ( original Foreigner lead ) and Bad Company s Paul Rodgers. My favorite three anyway. I m old now but I could sit and talk about musicians and groups forever.
Thank you for your video, man. I’m a lowkey huge Journey fan and I just appreciate you. It’s different when you’ve been through it. Your experience and testimony of your music career and experiences add so much level and depth to this song!!!! It’s amazing, man. So many wonderful things are unappreciated and it’s a shame. It’s wonderful to see someone who can appreciate them and this wonderful song as much as you can especially coming from a different musical background!
I just want to thank you for reacting to this video and for sharing your story. This song, this video brought back so many memories that I’d locked away. My ex fiancé was a tour manager and this song really portrayed that life. I’m crying rn.
I really enjoyed this reaction. Your input as a fellow "music man" and sharing that it "ain't all it's cracked up to be" in terms of the travel and separation from loved ones was really great. I used to "sing" (more like screech since I cannot sing a single note) this song driving down to see my cousins in South Florida. Good times. Journey was IT back in the day.
Hey man I love watching you out of all of the rappers reacting. I love listening to you. Don't stop talking about how you relate! I'm glad for you that you decided to step up and be the man and daddy your kids needed❤️
You have to hear Steve live!! it starts with a tingle in the air and ends up with the hair on your arm raising. His voice is angelic and soaring!! I was lucky to see him in 81 on the Escape tour. Best night of my life.
I was on tour and on the road for the better part of 15 years. Those people around you that you share your creative and literal space with become your home away from home. Family. I call it an accelerated relationship. In normal life it would take you 5 years to get to know someone, when in this environment it can happen in 6 months or less. I look back on it fondly as well.
Ok, ya got my heart on this group!!! When I lived in Texas I went to every concert to go see Steve Perry, hot!!! Lol, he has the most amazing voice, I'm a singer as well, I appreciate all different jams!!! Thank ya B.P. ❤
I know you've heard it already but that's journey brother and Steve Perry is one of the greatest singers ever!! And journey is one of the greatest bands of all time!!! 💯
The best reaction videos are the ones that are the most authentic. You could tell this hit home by the detail provided in the lived experience. This is why I've watched this authentic reaction multiple times to an iconic song.
Journey is my coming of age GenX band. I have their box sets. Listen to Lights, Who’s Crying Now, Winds of March, and then try Perry’s solo stuff. There is a lot to love.
Opened for Marshall Tucker in Smithfield, NC. Got to meet Extreme, and they played on Our equipment! 😂 Stopped by the club to sign auto's, played a few songs, with us sitting on stage. Love and peace from NC
You’re the best-definitely a life well lived if you chose your daughter over a different life…and I love your “ramblings” - that’s called communication and we don’t have enough

Yes if you check out Mother Father make sure it is in Houston live
This song takes me back to high school. Never has there been a voice like Steve Perry’s. He is iconic. Love this song.
BEST Journey song ... EVER! Steve Perry is AMAZING...
best rock voice on the PLANET!!!! Steve Perry is still alive, never married but has a daughter from his 20s. His girlfriend died a few years ago
Steve Perry was one of rock and roll's best vocalist. Need to do a reaction on Open arms, mother father, open arms there's so many to choose from.
Watch their performance of Mother Father (live in Houston) to get an idea of how phenomenal this band was. Every instrument was 🔥 & of course Steve’s vocals were legendary. They don’t call him “The Voice” for nothing. Enjoyed your reaction!
Steve Perry’s voice is just magically magnificent! This is my favorite Journey song! Check out Steve’s solo hit “Foolish Heart”!❤❤
Yes!!! Great band! Just what I needed on this snowy thursday to jam out to Journey! I love watching your reactions - with all the stories and eating!! 🙂
One of the greatest songs ever written and sung. Hands down
Dude Journey 1982 Houston, do them all, but mother father. Steve Perry was called the voice for a reason.
The keyboardist Jonathan Cain wrote the song. Steve Perry never married. Journey still tours but with other members. To many people, journey's sound is Steve Perry's voice. 🎶🙂🎶
You'll never regret spending more time with your children & family. You will tuck those memories in their hearts just like yours. That's precious.
Steve was an amazing singer, one of the best
I saw journey live 3 times. Unbelievable band, they have a catalog of music that has stand the test of time. I love watching people discover them.
Saw them live just outside of Pittsburgh PA in 1981. Fantastic band live. His voice never faltered!🔥❤️
Mother, Father live in Houston 1981 concert is a must see!! Highlights the guitar Steve's vocals and the piano too!!
Oh I agree that one is my favorite song by them
Open Arms has the same deep emotional connection as Faithfully, only it’s when they get to be together again.
“Patiently” kind of fits between Faithfully and Open Arms as “what it’s like on stage every night”
Other great songs are
Lights, Wheel in the Sky, Feelin’ That Way, Anytime, and of course, Separate Ways - so far the hardest SP song I’ve found to try and sing.
YES
What songs of their should I react to? YES
Do they have other great hits? YES
What should I check out? YES
What are their great songs? YES
Here's a tip ANYTHING from their 1981 Live in Houston "Escape" tour is GOLD.
Saw this band twice in Atlanta in the 80s. Steve Perry has the greatest rock voice ever! He sounded just like this live. Thank you for reacting to Journey.
Wonderful reaction, thank you for sharing your personal experiences ❤️
Steve Perry was and forever will be my all time favorite male artist. Thanks for appreciating his amazing talent!
LOVE Journey! So many memories surface when I hear their music!
“faithfully” by Journey is definitely one of my all time favorites! A punch in the gut! Beautiful!!!!
I love Journey, i love Steve Perry, i love this song and i love this video - GOOSEBUMPS every time 😍🥰
Any way you want it is another classic to check out!
I love how you tell us what you feel and so happy that you felt what we did with these songs. They were so different than what’s out there now. ❤️
Lead Singer is STEVE PERRY! Watch Journey's Houston Concert from 1981 - You'll be blown away - his voice LIVE is INCREDIBLE! No one compares!
Your reactions are always so positive, and honest. Straight up. Rare to find these days. Rare. 😊
I knew this song would hit you in the feels. Much respect for putting your family first.
I just want to thank you for reacting to this video and for sharing your story. This song, this video brought back so many memories that I’d locked away. My ex fiancé was a tour manager and this song really portrayed that life. I’m crying rn.
the piano player actually wrote this song...beautiful!
Journey and Train are on w whole different level. The songs show each facet of young in love to failure to sentiment!
Best slow dance song in junior high in the ‘80s 😂 as an adult, I appreciate this song on a whole other level
His voice in unparalleled he is amazing and can still sing just like this
Steve Perry
You seek, in all your reactions, AUTHENTICITY. When you find it, you rave in it. You see it here. This entire song authentically reflects a reality you have experienced, so it means much to you. This commitment to authenticity is why you are the best reactor on TH-cam. Stay that way.
Hell yeah, seperate ways (worlds apart) is a must!
Faithfully and Open Arms are my favorites of many Journey hits.
I love Journey and Steve Perry was such an amazing singer. I’m 63 and still to them on DVD’s. It broke my heart when he left the group.
