Steve Perry is one of the best technical singers in rock history. Perfect pitch, pure voice, and sounds just as good live as he does in the studio. Please listen to more by them.
Come on ... he's aka "The Voice" so you're obviously so so right. But I also become shivers when Steve Smith goes in with the drums. Best part of all times.
At my age now genx I gotta say he's one, the others are millions. Its funny how Steve and Whitney are the male and female gave been called "the voice".
You are absolutely right. Went to several of their shows in the day-only concerts I ever cried at, during and when they were over. It was such an emotional experience. None like it.
I love the official music 🎵 video to this song. This song is my and hubby’s song … 35 years now. Nobody delivers a power ballad like Steve Perry and Journey.
If your are listening to Journey’s older music don’t listen to anyone one of their lead singers over the years except for The Voice himself… Mr Steve Perry! He is my number 1 favorite singer EVER!!!!!!!! They call him The Voice for a reason!!!
This was THE slow dance and makeout song in high school. So many feels come back listening to this. People say Steve Perry is The Voice. Hell yes he is.
Greg Rollie was Journey's original singer. Steve came on board to share vocals with Greg for the Infinity album, and Greg left after the Evolution album.
Steve Perry’s voice is one of the very finest. Journey sounds just as spectacular in their videos of live concerts, which is my gold standard. So impressive. You can’t pick a bad song of theirs.
The one singing is Steve Perry the best journey lead singer & best Rock voice ever, he's known as the voice, need I say more.🎸 They became far more popular due to Steve Perry.
The official music video is so important to watch! I’m so bummed you didn’t react to it. It portrays the entire meaning of the song! I wanted to yell STEVE PERRY lol. He is The Voice of the 80’s. Journey has a huge catalog of hits and Steve’s voice is iconic.
This song is genius. No chorus: doesn’t need one. Starts with a single quiet piano riff and crescendos into this full band, whaling guitar, Perry nailing the vocals, just an insane tune.
Never forget this vocalist STEVE PERRY, you know why...because you will never hear someone like him in your life...how special that you, being young, are amazed by this video...imagine a whole generation who lived it .... PRICELESS Thank you.
Steve Perry's voice is pure heaven and this was always my favorite Journey song. It sounds so sinceree and made me melt of the love and yearning in his voice.
YEP it’s #StevePerry🤗, ‘The Voice’🥰😊🥰 He’s widely considered to be one of the very best male singers😊 (THEEE best to me😁) May I humbly suggest you also react to the official vid? It gives us a peek into what real road-touring is like, & how it affects the relationship with the one that’s left behind..♥️ PLEEAASSEE react to it!!!!!!!!😂🎶🤗😅
Who knew, in 1969, that Steve Perry would turn out to be one of the best rock vocalists ever! In high school, he was a senior and I was a freshman. He didn't know I was alive, but I knew who he was - he was friends with my next door neighbors. I snuck out my bedroom window to go to the graduation party next door, but didn't get to talk to him. I faded out fast after 1 beer and snuck back home!
Hello Rachell, how're you doing? Your comments caught my attention and that is why I am reaching out to you. Your fan love for me warms my heart, Thank you! It's nice meeting you here.
Most beautiful line ever is “I get the joy of rediscovering you”. Love Steve Perry, love Journey and wish I had a time machine to go back to those days of my youth.
True story! One day someone asked me, who is the only group that you would sleep in line overnight for tickets to see? I said JOURNEY, without a doubt! The very next week they announce that they would be in my city soon! So I got tickets for their RAISED ON RADIO tour, which ended up being their last tour with Steve Perry at vocals! They did NOT disappoint!
Im glad I got to see them with Steve in 1979 on the Evolution tour. I've forgetten alot of concerts from then but that one still stands out. I just remember on every song Steve laying out the vocals then he would step back and Neil stepped forward and opened fire 🎸🤩
Journey played in Houston, Tx for 3 sold out shows. My best friend and I went to the last 2 shows! And then I Journey for the ROR tour as well (in Houston) and saw Perry for his first solo tour in 1994!! Some of the GREATEST nights EVER!!!
Side note, I love that you do so much research. So many people just assume that the song is however old it is since someone uploaded it onto youtube, which is really annoying. Thank you for checking up before you start!
The studio version is good, BUT sitting in the arena hearing Steve belt this out live is amazing. Been there, done that, had the T-shirt. Brendan Byrne arena, East Rutherford, NJ May 1983. There is a live version from that tour on TH-cam.
This official music video for this song is actually pretty great. It gives a visual story to the lyrics in a way most music videos don't. It definitely adds to the emotion of the song, when watching the video.
@Alaskanair1 1 second ago You need to watch the video when they were in concert. I believe it was in Japan. The Whole Band was giving their absolute All ..the power they all showed ..Steve gave even more than that. Watching’s Steve sing is so emotional.. you really do fall hopelessly in love with him..
Where have you been, just hearing journey faithfully, you are finally on track, but wow 😅, this is real music, how you been without is beyond me. Good luck with your reactions 😊
For Steve Perry's best vocal performance ever, listen to and watch Journey "Mother Father" live 1981 in Houston. Steve said it was the hardest song to sing live. It will blow you away!! Always do Journet live versions. They are even bettter live.
Dont know how I missed some of ur Journey but Im here now, lol. Dont always get to comment, my illness gives me trouble trying to type. When I can I sure will. Always best to try and find them live sounds same recorded or live. One of the great things about Steve. Even tho Arnel does an amazing job, no one can top the original The Voice aka Steve Perry. Really phenomenal song, beautiful. Thanx so much, Peace
The only time it was really Journey was the 2 times Steve Perry was with them. The 1st 10 years and then 10 yrs later for about 2 yrs. In the late 70's/80's, Journey was everything!!!
Voice coaches are amazed by his voice. There is so many elements to vocals, but his range which is God-given. You can’t learn that you can advance it, but it’s a innate talent. His register is phenomenal his tonality his breathing you can’t hear one gas from his mouth or his lungs It’s just unbelievable. 🍷🇮🇹💋🙏
Steve Perry aka "The Voice", is pure perfection. His talent is amazing and although the band is still performing with a new lead, it doesn't come close to Steve Perry's contribution to this band. He had a successful career a a solo artist as well. There are many great Journey songs, " Lights" is my personal favorite..you just can't get enough of Steve Perry's voice.
Jonathan Cain wrote this about life on the road and his family. Neal Schon-crazy good on guitar. Steve Smith on drums is a top fusion drummer today. Ross Valory- bass filling in to complete. Steve Perry was a drummer early on and has been a bass player for years and is a sound engineer. Has done back up with some surprising groups, eg Clannad. If you look at some of the Journey albums, you will notice he has done quite a bit of writing as well as engineering. Have a look at what they did in late 70s on video. Perry's voice was up in the angels and he was not using falsetto. Have heard some show his voice in isolation and even demonstrating how useless autotune is for his voice. He knew how to use his voice and give it personality. His voice now has changed, of course, but nothing to sneer at. Overall, he deserves being called the Voice. We were so lucky to have such fantastic singers and bands in the 70s and 80s. They had the sheer talent and nowhere to hide or disguise their music. Makes it pretty clear how sad so much "top" music is now. Happy to see the younger generations discovering true gold.
That was great, one detail missed. In the official video the family to save was Steve Smith's, Jon had lost his by then. The two Steves had a recent reunion, did you see the pictures? Smith had long red hair in the video. He is now completely bald, with a white goatee.
There’s no-one that compares with Steve. Simply put.
It’s only Journey if Steve Perry is singing.
This should be no surprise. Steve Perry is The Voice!
Steve Perry… The Voice. As far as I’m concerned, there is no Journey without Perry.
Steve Smith said something similar when he quit the band after Steve Perry left. Smith said that Journey isn't a band without Steve Perry in it.
Steve Perry - the one and only. " Oh Sherrie" is a great one. This is when he went solo. Good ole San Francisco boy!!
Steve Perry is one of the best technical singers in rock history. Perfect pitch, pure voice, and sounds just as good live as he does in the studio. Please listen to more by them.
Completely agree. One of the best of all time
Come on ... he's aka "The Voice" so you're obviously so so right. But I also become shivers when Steve Smith goes in with the drums. Best part of all times.
Absolutely agree. One of the best.
Sounds better live. Steve. Neil, all of them draw energy from a cheering crowd taking their performances to another level.
I have always said. You don't hear Steve Perry, You feel Steve Perry when he sings. That's why he's called the voice. He's one in million.
You got that right!❤
At my age now genx I gotta say he's one, the others are millions. Its funny how Steve and Whitney are the male and female gave been called "the voice".
You are absolutely right. Went to several of their shows in the day-only concerts I ever cried at, during and when they were over. It was such an emotional experience. None like it.
I couldn’t agree more with you! You feel his voice; you don’t just listen.❤️
you feel Steve Perry!
Steve Perry was Journey and the group now are just a counterfeit. My Opinion
Just a tribute band after he left.
It's hard to believe that someone hasn't heard of Steve Perry!!!
“I get the joy of rediscovering you” the best lyric sung by the best vocalist of all time.
Faithfully is one of those song that if you're not ready for it will bring tears to your eyes when you think about loved ones you're apart from.
Makes me feel really old when the guy has to look up who the lead singer was because he's never heard of him or Journey.
Steve perry the Best male voice ever no one cant touch Steve perry voice Steve perry the GOAT
I love the official music 🎵 video to this song. This song is my and hubby’s song … 35 years now. Nobody delivers a power ballad like Steve Perry and Journey.
Steve Perry is called the Voice. Won’t listen to any Journey music without Steve. They would never have become famous without him.
I agree wholeheartedly
Absolute, journey isn't journey without Steve Perry. 👌
Albeit Steve Perry's voice is sensational, however, John Farnham of Australia is literally known as The Voice.
@@maryhuhnke4706 Only Steve has that title, John Farnham has a song called the voice.
@@maryhuhnke4706 John Bon Jovi gave Steve Perry that nickname as well and it stuck
Right up there with “Faithfully “ is “Open Arms”
If your are listening to Journey’s older music don’t listen to anyone one of their lead singers over the years except for The Voice himself… Mr Steve Perry! He is my number 1 favorite singer EVER!!!!!!!! They call him The Voice for a reason!!!
I’m with you, never anyone else. Steve Perry is the voice. The one and only.
The music video to this is fire….
Back in the 80's we called them "the voice" instead of Journey lolloll Steve Perry IS THE VOICE!!
Dude, NO! You only got half the experience. You have to watch the music video to be able to fully love and appreciate this music masterpiece!
I agree!!
Exactly, you have to see the way he feels the lyrics!
Absolutely agree!
Yes do a 2nd one & use the video. Astonishing Live!
Proof that God gives a chosen few special talents …
Journey pretty much created the 'Power Balad". It was unheard of before then.
This was THE slow dance and makeout song in high school. So many feels come back listening to this. People say Steve Perry is The Voice. Hell yes he is.
"I get the joy of rediscovering you" simply put, is one of the most beautiful lines ever to grace a ballad! ❤
You must watch the live version of this song; Steve Perry's voice is matched by his emotions and is heart-wrenching!
Steve Perry is the original singer. He has an amazing voice that can't be replicated by anyone!
Greg Rollie was Journey's original singer. Steve came on board to share vocals with Greg for the Infinity album, and Greg left after the Evolution album.
I get the joy of rediscovering you. Beautiful and it sounds like something out of a poem.
The guitar outdo to this is gold. Neal is a legend.
Yep, Steve Perry sang my teens. That is all. LOL
Hit "Mother, Father" - Journey Live in Houston 1981. You won't be sorry. One of Steve Perry's best vocals ever.
Steve Perry’s voice is one of the very finest. Journey sounds just as spectacular in their videos of live concerts, which is my gold standard. So impressive. You can’t pick a bad song of theirs.
You can’t pick a bad song of theirs….perfectly said!
Steve Perry made this song famous. His voice is iconic
I’d rank this as the 1st best love song of all time. By far, my favorite rock ballad. 🥰🥰🥰
The one singing is Steve Perry the best journey lead singer & best Rock voice ever, he's known as the voice, need I say more.🎸 They became far more popular due to Steve Perry.
The original singer was Steve perry. No one can replace him. They can try...but no one can out sing him
Übertreffen? Nicht mal in die Nähe von Steve kam und kommt auch heut noch kein anderer Sänger 🤔
Keyboardist Johnathan Cain wrote this. The video is a must see!
Always have video. I love seeing the singer. I can hear it on the radio anytime
What girl wouldn't want this song dedicated to her!? ❤️❤️
Many a bride and groom's first dance was to this song.
The official music video is so important to watch! I’m so bummed you didn’t react to it. It portrays the entire meaning of the song! I wanted to yell STEVE PERRY lol. He is The Voice of the 80’s. Journey has a huge catalog of hits and Steve’s voice is iconic.
Well said Michelle the video is a must see 4 this song I'm with you when he was trying to find "the singer " .

I agree he does need to react to the official music video
Another vote for this... will give you a whole new understanding
Once again…the official video is so moving
This song is genius. No chorus: doesn’t need one. Starts with a single quiet piano riff and crescendos into this full band, whaling guitar, Perry nailing the vocals, just an insane tune.
He will never be replaced! My fav. Singer and band!
When you love a woman off of trial by fire….. one of their best.
Yes it's Steve Perry the one and only voice.
Never forget this vocalist STEVE PERRY, you know why...because you will never hear someone like him in your life...how special that you, being young, are amazed by this video...imagine a whole generation who lived it .... PRICELESS

Yeah you definitely need to watch the video.
Who's crying now live in Houston! My favorite of all time!
Great song from the voice Steve Perry
Steve Perry was the lead singer in their hey day of the 70's and 80's. They are not the same without him.
Totally agree.
Steve Perry's voice is pure heaven and this was always my favorite Journey song. It sounds so sinceree and made me melt of the love and yearning in his voice.
The official video adds to the emotion of this song.
YEP it’s #StevePerry🤗, ‘The Voice’🥰😊🥰 He’s widely considered to be one of the very best male singers😊 (THEEE best to me😁)

PLEEAASSEE react to it!!!!!!!!😂🎶🤗😅
Being faithful was and still is the lifeblood of separated/deployed couples, and they took up this song back in the DAY.
The official video really drives this one home.
Who knew, in 1969, that Steve Perry would turn out to be one of the best rock vocalists ever! In high school, he was a senior and I was a freshman. Oh my word I feel old! 😂 Steve Perry is the lead singer!
He was an anointed singer. Soooo awesome
Steve Perry sang nearly all of their biggest hits, if not all.
He sang them all, just didn't write them all.
That’s he’s called the “VOICE”
Hello Rachell,
how're you doing?
Your comments caught my attention

Most beautiful line ever is “I get the joy of rediscovering you”. Love Steve Perry, love Journey and wish I had a time machine to go back to those days of my youth.
Power ballads are rock.
Belted this whole song right along with Journey. Definitely one of the best love songs of all time imo
That is beautiful !
You need to hear to „send her my love“ :)

Special times. I do miss the those days. I hope you check out all that was given to us back then . Very much worth it. Enjoy
They don't call Perry "The Voice" for nothing.
Beautiful song. Hits you in your feels.
This song is perfect from start to finish. The line "I get the joy of rediscovering you" is just beautiful and so emotional. ❤
Steve Perry is the first one to sing this. This video and greatest hits is Steve Perry singing. The music video helps understanding the song better.
Watch the video for MTV, on the tour bus. Explains it all.
This is one of my favorites along with wheel in the sky
Steve Perry, never will be another like him! Magic!!
nothing better than seeing you react to some of the best rock bands ever....
I would love to see you listen to Stone in Love. In my opinion…..the best Journey song.
The studio version is good, BUT sitting in the arena hearing Steve belt this out live is amazing.
Been there, done that, had the T-shirt. Brendan Byrne arena, East Rutherford, NJ May 1983.
There is a live version from that tour on TH-cam.
Was there too. Oklahoma City 12th row on the floor.
I saw him in Philadelphia at Veterans Stadium. Oh my gosh!!! He was my heart throb still to this day!! I'm so happy there are still fans!!❤❤❤
This official music video for this song is actually pretty great. It gives a visual story to the lyrics in a way most music videos don't. It definitely adds to the emotion of the song, when watching the video.
The video for this is pretty epic as well. Gives the best context for the song.
In my opinion, Steve Perry, Lou Gramm from Foreigner and Freddie Mercury have the best male voices EVER!
Try Rik Emmet from Triumph live at US FESTIVAL 1983...GREAT VOICE AND GUITAR VIRTUOSO! One of the best live sets ever captured!
Steve Perry is the original lead singer.

Stone in Love and Separate Ways take turns as my favourite Journey songs....either should be next up.
Stone in Love 🔥
SP IS still THE VOICE. I was lucky to be in my teens 1975--1980 to fall in love with Journey. I'm still forever theirs. Faithfully.
Journey was huge in the day. Especially with the ladies. The only singer you need to know is Steve Perry. One of the all time greats.
