Thank you so much for your great reaction and analysis of Journey's phenomenal masterpiece "Mother, Father." They're my favourite group and Steve Perry is my favourite artist. His beautiful voice is a gift from God. Steve Perry was an only child born of Portuguese parents, and sadly, they divorced when he was just 7 or 8 years old. His voice, his stage presence, his charisma and yes his sexiness are simply incomparable. The whole "Escape" concert was amazing, definitely more of it. Also watch "I stand alone" and "Strong out"

I was in attendance at this concert. The Houston Summit was THE place for live concerts. Journey has never performed a bad concert in their history. I lost track of the number of times I've seen them live.
This is again, from the Houston performance of the Escape tour. Many of the videos on Journey DVD’s are from this performance, which is why he is wearing that Flintstones shirt. Steve’s performance at this venue was stellar…it was a great night for him. But he always put everything into his performances.
The red piano sits in the R&R Hall of Fame. Jonathan Cain bought it for $12,500 in 1981. Today it goes for $86,000. He said he took it on tour everywhere. Perry also suffered through his parent's divorce saying he felt invisible.

Listen to Steve’s album “Traces” released in 2018. It was written after he lost the love of his life in 2012. He was70 when he recorded it. Even though his voiced has changed a bit, he is still Steve Perry and can sing his “d” off. He’s 75 now and has signed a new record contract, so those of us that have been fans since he started with Journey (I’m 66) can barely wait for new music from him. His remastered music is also fantastic.
Glad you finally got to this incredible live performance by Journey and Steve "The Voice" Perry showing his vocal prowess. This concert was recorded live with no artificial enhancements. What you hear is what they recorded. Numerous bands back in the day, their live performances were always better than the studio/album versions. The band members actually played the instruments on their recording sessions for their albums. That's why their live performances were so good. Add in practicing every day. Also, additional professional session musicians played on album recording of various bands/singers when they were requested and/or needed. The group Toto started out as session musicians, then the formed their own group. These musicians, singers and songwriters were just talented back then and very creative. It was just easy for them to create good solid music. Their music is timeless. You seem to be in big disbelief that this is actually pure talent with no artificial enhancements. Don't take the previous sentence the wrong way, just making a statement. The enhancements did not exist back then. They did have reel to reel tape. LOL! These music artists/singers/songwriters worked hard to produce good solid music. In order to make it in the music industry during that time, you had to have the talent to make it. Continue down the Journey rabbit hole and Steve Perry's solo music. Check out R.E.O. Speedwagon's live performances, you'll be blown away with them to. They have a huge song catalog as well.
Thanks for reacting to this one I knew you'd like it, especially the story line. So the next one you should react to from this live concert is "Who's Crying Now". But if you want to go back to on of their late 70's albums listen to "Feel'in that way". I think you'll like the video. It should be on their channel, but in that video. You'll hear the pianist before Jonathan Cain his name is Greg Rollie. He used to do most of the vocals befor steve came on board. And then you'll hear Steve singing in tandem with him. And you'll hear why Steve is the one and just how unique and talented Steve is.
Neal Schon was a young guitar prodigy growing up in the Bay Area. As a teenager, he was asked to play with Santana, and greats, including Eric Clapton had jam sessions with Neal when they came through town.
This song gives me goosebumps and brings me to tears every time i watch this video. Steve puts so much soul and emotion into his singing. I don't know how he's not completely spent. And yeah all his songs sound better live. He the Voice and the GOAT
It’s about broken families and as in his own parents divorcing and how he himself was heartbroken. So many of us have gone through our parents divorcing and then years later some of us divorcing as well. Whether it was journey as a whole or Steve by himself, they always have songs that fit the things we go through in life no matter what stage we are at.
7th son in Norse tradition …the 7th son has the ability to heal … He’s trying to say to his parents that they can heal… it should not end this way ~ he’s trying to say it doesn’t have to end this way we can heal.. Back in the day. I also heard this song was influenced by a kid/Family/friend in his home town that was going through this.
Neal once said this was his favorite. Complex composition, and surely one of their most difficult. The vocal performance is stunning. The guitar and piano shine, as Neal and Jonothan hit complex music soulfully. Neals ability to play and at times make the guitar sing is jaw dropping at times. He can create and emote emotion from his complex playing, it's just soulful, words leave off. Maybe thats why Carlos Zantana asked him to olay in his band when Neal was just 18. These three with there song writing abilites, raw talent, and there hard work erned them the success they achieved. Jonothan Cain was trained on piano, beginning very young. Steve Perry started singing young and had popular, rock, and mowtown vocalists as inspirations.
Just imagine being a girl back in those days listening to Steve Perry or seeing him on stage. Dreams were made of such stuff. I am in my late 60s now, and I can bring it all back.
I would agree with what you said. People just want to vibe with the music, whereas the lyrics are what tells the story! I laughed when you said that this channel may not be for those who don't like digging deeper to the meaning of a song. I agree with you 100%. When things spark an interest, I will search it to death! Lol
I'm sooo glad you got to see this ❤❤ check out Wheel in the Sky live in Osaka another great vocal Steve playing around with his voice alongside Neal's guitar ❤❤❤❤
BTW, that piano is known as "the Whale." Imagine taking a grand piano on tour. Journey tends to be upbeat, but this song, the vocals and the guitar, is full of agony. Perry said this was the hardest song for him, and the piano solo gives him a minute to recover.

That concert from Houston was made into a live album! Incredible ❤❤❤❤❤
Neal Schon was a young guitar prodigy growing up in the Bay Area. As a teenager, he was asked to play with Santana, and greats, including Eric Clapton had jam sessions with Neal when they came through town.
Omg this never gets old I love this tune ❤ saw Steve Perry in San Antonio back in the day
Journey is one of the greatest bands, and Steve Perry is the best.
Steve has described the way he writes a song is like a story for a movie
Same here.. I was in love with him😊
my first journey tix were $18
Me and you and everyone else too!😍😂
Eternally the best voice ever
Love that you finally got to this gem! The band at the "zenith" of their career with this tour. This was also the first live concert to air on MTV!
In folklore, a seventh son is believed to have special powers, such as healing, fortune-telling, or dowsing
What is dowsing?
I would agree with what you said. People just want to vibe with the music, whereas the lyrics are what tells the story! I laughed when you said that this channel may not be for those who don't like digging deeper to the meaning of a song. I agree with you 100%. When things spark an interest, I will search it to death! Lol
The ohhhhhohhhhh part was out of this world, and the ending of song Steve did a microphone dismount, otherwise known as Mr Perry’s mic drop🎤
I'm sooo glad you got to see this ❤❤ check out Wheel in the Sky live in Osaka another great vocal Steve playing around with his voice alongside Neal's guitar ❤❤❤❤
Keep it real bro thats why i watch your vids ..Mother Father just an amazing song...
bro you made my day reacting to this .
The Escape album was 🔥 !
BTW, that piano is known as "the Whale." Imagine taking a grand piano on tour. Journey tends to be upbeat, but this song, the vocals and the guitar, is full of agony. Perry said this was the hardest song for him, and the piano solo gives him a minute to recover.
My uncle drove Elton John's to the top of a mountain resort. Dirt Switchbacks!
Yes I mete Jon and he calls it the whale he replaced it I don’t remember the name he calls the new 😅one
Saw this tour it was amazing. The 80s was a helluva time to be alive.
I never thought you'd DO this one!!! (haven't watched yet). You will love this (I think). Awesome. My favorite Journey song.
One of my favorite Journey songs
There's a difference between technical skills and really being to make people FEEL the song.
The keyboardist is Johnathan Cain, he wrote Faithfully. Played standing up too. ❤❤❤
Bro you gotta do journey
Still they ride live in Tokyo 1983
It is fire 🔥 😊
YES!!! Steve had the flu that night but you'd never know it! Awesome tune, awesome performance.
Steve is the best he is an icon. This was done with no auto tune; this is just pure raw talent. Journey are icons! When is says faith and believe I believe the seventh son he is referring to is Jesus Christ. Love your reaction!
Loving Touching Squeezing please 🙏 Such an emotional song about divorce of your parents. Been there done that. Great reaction and Peace out ✌️ ☮️ 🙏
Rocking Mama LTS for sure but it's gotta b the vid where he is in the red shirt and black (nicely fitted) pants 😊
