I can't believe how well Project Tupolev captured the look, sound and overall feel of the engineer's panel for the 154! And it's freeware!! It sounds just like this!!
My grandpa captained one of these for over 25 years for Tajik Airways years and years ago. When you meet a man like that you know exactly why he was capable of flying one of these beasts and not everyone is.
Dear RA85535 That was the best engine start up i have ever seen. I love Russian aircraft. I admirer all the design innovations that are developed throughout the cold war We were always told that Russian aircraft were inferior to US planes I can tell you that they were wrong. I am so glad that we have the internet. Thank you for posting the videos. Wishing you best regrades from us here in the states. Max
Skilled engineer. There is a great document for the startup procedure for this plane in the flightgear docs, does this and all the gyro / autopilot alignments. Good read. The navigation system in this thing is actually unbelievable in a modern age of gps, had to read it a few times and I still don't understand it fully. I can see why this cockpit had a dedicated navigator in these planes, in addition to the engineer.
Thats the inefficient turbo jet engines. Modern engines are high bypass turbo fans and less noisy/more fuel efficient. Also meet noise regulations. These are 1950's/60s designs from a byegone era. Most airlines got rid of jet engines in the 1970's and 80's.
@@bEEBO178 he said it is an awesome engine noise, he is not saying it the the most efficient engine ever built. It is an awesome engine noise, it was in the 1970/1980's and it still will be in 2040.

Oh how I miss it! Replaced by a computer. Was talking to an old retired KC-97 FE the other day and I said to him "I bet no one in the sky on this day muttered 'shorted secondary on 24 left' and entered it in the 780".
Missing screws is a way of life in an in-service airplane, western, or otherwise. Really each instrument needs only two. That blue color, oh, that was also McDonnell Douglas paint scheme for the DC-9 fleet, and even some DC-8s were painted that way out of the box. If you were ever a DC8 flight engineer, you flip almost that many switches, and knobs. Only the switches didn't "click" that load. LOL!!
I was totally impressed with how "solid" ALL of the switches sounded as they were activated! SNAP, SNAP!!! Usually don't get that kind of reaction. Just love all of those autosyn synchro style indicators; those ARE instruments! I agree, the NEW panels are OK, but that "ain't" switching the switches, or manipulating the controls. This IS flying at its best! Thanks, N-6395T & B-6370 USPA
😂 if the light doesn’t turn on, tap with finger. Love it ! Basically it’s the same sequence 3 times, 3 engines. Love the sounds. True engineering right there
Analog gauge..lights..switches..and turbo jet engine sounds..never fail to impress me. One thing that confuse me, is it only engine 1 & 3 reversing in Tu 154?
AFAIK this is a sound of a device which equalizes fuel consumption from the tanks (автомат розхода - awtamat razhoda), so the plane center of gravity wont get shifted to one side or front/back. If you have MSFS, go download the Project Tupolev Tu-154 and try everything yourself. The startup procedure may seem complicated, but is rather logical when you know what you are doing.
Listen to all those ticking relays this aircraft is manually operated using simple eletric and electronic devices thus no need of complex and sensitive computers that noone except from the manufacture can fix or replace. So it will fly as long someone can push the buttons.
а что это трещит на седьмой минуте, когда двигатели на взлетном режиме? на МГ слышно тот-же звук, но уже не так часто. предполагаю, что это щелкает расходомер. или не?
honestly wtf is up with your dualism. I love both automatisation and manual control In most aircraft you fire up the APU with 1 button, attleast in the Tupolev you still have control over all it's functions. In the airbus you have that too but it's digital.
Good question... Once in the air I think there should be the same procedure for inflight start using the natural fan autorotation... Actually you should focus only on the deffective engine. I think you have just to move the start-master, crank and the respective engine start selector to on (up position) providing continuos it ignition, ensure you have the right forward speed and... pray! ;p
