It will be nice if you go through the wrong settings in the ecu and show how should it be done correctly so people can avoid this kind of mistakes. Beside that you make forging the bottom end looks like an oil change - 20 min and you are ready to go :D
I had no idea true car enthusiasts still existed in the UK! So glad I found you guys, hopefully I'll have a Miata to show you, my MK2 is very bad at the moment but I'm pouring my heart, soul and wallet into it, got some unique ideas.
Can we take a moment to appreciate Wills hair transformation from the beginning of the video! I take full credit 🤟 (disclaimer I’ve never cut hair before)
BOFI Racing a true petrolhead then ;) I fitted the rad I got from yourselves along with the hoses will sorted out after UPS cocked up the delivery. Quality is great. I’ll be after a roll bar and ECU soon... ITB time 🤪
Sorry about that, UPS are generally one of the better couriers in our experience though. Hopefully they don't mess up next time! Thanks for buying the rad, we run the same one in a few of our cars. Oh I'd love to do a silly ITB build... Maybe after I've had my fun with the Rotrex...
Top effort guys, mega 2nd gear burnout too! What front splitter you got there, it's just enough? Looks like my EP Racing one on my Civic, but it's obviously not. 😜
I just got a second engine to build up for my 2.5. Can’t decide between supercharged or turbo, don’t have enough money for either lol. Liking quality British MX5 content, keep it up! Did the oil pump get Boundary gears? I am starting with a solid bottom end and full dynamic balance for my built motor, are the updated oil pumps worth the £££? In the planning stage right now.
As male Miata owners age they often experience their rods bending. Fortunately modern medicine--- technology ---- has cures, painful though they may be. Hang in there, buddy, we're pulling for you!
Hi guys, love your content. One question, is there a spec list of Wills car? What wheels, bumper lip, ecu, turbo, power and stuff? Keep up the good work, cheers from the Netherlands
Great stuff guys! I like the whole rods only build, a lot less invested if you fuck it up. I've been wondering if you could do it without taking the crank out. But I suppose the new main bearings are worthwhile. One of those drill powered three legged stone hone tools like the Clarke CHT259 could be the ticket for this kind of build. Also don't the maxpeedingrods come with arp bolts?
Thanks! You could definitely do it without replacing the mains bearings. Our engine was of unknown mileage, had a bent rod and also showed signs of wear to the bearings, so wasn't worth the risk. If you pulled the rods out and everything looked good you could skip the mains. We are looking into a DIY hone tool but we haven't used one before and didn't want to mess it up first time. Plus if you're going to the effort of rings it's not that expensive to have a machine shop do it for you. The MaxPeedingRods come with ARP fasteners. K1 & Manley use a bigger bolt so they're a worthwhile upgrade if you're doing pistons too.
@@BOFIRacingTV summarizing, what was the total amount spent on rebuild and what parts did You changed? Rods, Headgasket (standard?), ARP head studs? I think, that I will be doing same stuff with my engine... haha
With good 99 RON fuel, we can use more timing with higher compression to make more power with less boost, keeping the turbo in its efficiency range so it heats up the charge less
Did the head you used in this have hydraulic lifters being a non VVT head? Are they happy enough to run with the VVT bottom end? Literally contemplating this exact set up as my bottom end has just gone boom!
I miss this content boys, here’s hoping the boys can get back together and start doing content again 🙏

Production quality is stepping up nicely lads 👌🏼. Solid turn around on that engine swap 👍👍
Thanks Kully 💪 it was a really dirty way of doing it but it got the job done!

Imagine blowing new engine again on camera... When music started at 15:01 I thought it was a goner :D
That would have sucked 🤣
It’s so nice seeing an engine rebuild in one video instead of dragged out over a month
slap it together 😂
Can we take a moment to appreciate Wills hair transformation from the beginning of the video! I take full credit 🤟 (disclaimer I’ve never cut hair before)
There are a few more of us in the office that also need some help in the hair department 😅
fantastic video. That burnout was amazing.
Knock knock
Who's there?
Will's MX-5
The burnout at the end of this video is inspiring! Top effort!
What front lip you got on there?
Great work chaps, top quality burnout!
He's an animal
What a mega turnaround!
Subbed, your content is great. 2 year stock na8 owner, learning what I can before "getting my grabby hands" or whatever all over it.
Another great video guys, Wills a really nice guy I had a chat with him last time I was down at the unit about his secret love for hondas
Thanks William, he is a very valued member of the team! He's a bit of a deviant, had a bunch of very cool cars and bikes.

Such a cool video!! 🔥🔥
😁 Cheers

I didn't even know you had a youtube till I saw your recent FB post. Cheers!
It's pretty new! Hope you enjoyed 😁
Rate that 2nd gear burnout! 😍
He's an animal
Great video! Keep it up, you guys are getting better! I would honestly love you guys to do a detailed engine build start to finish.
Thanks! We'll do one soon 💪

Not surprised you bend your rods watching the end lol

Awesome Build, what is the torque specification for the ARP 2000 bolts that came with those connecting rods?
Cheers! They're 24 Ft-lbs
Like the videos guys, nice burnyard you have there. 👍
Hi guys, love your content. One question, is there a spec list of Wills car? What wheels, bumper lip, ecu, turbo, power and stuff? Keep up the good work, cheers from the Netherlands
Hi Robin, thanks! It's a D style lip, UL12 bronze wheels, BC Racing Coilovers, GT2560R, ME442, and a used Kraken turbo kit
Did you polish the crankshaft? Or just cleaned it and put in the new bearings?
That’s what I’m wondering as well

Did you do anything to the crankshaft?
Think you need to get some BOFI Racing overalls created. All I could notice was no PPE 😉
I was wearing gloves 😅 we definitely need some trackday suitable merch though. Gotta keep those arms covered
glad your going forged that what I wanna do
We'd definitely recommend it! We would have liked to hone the bores and put new rings in it really but we had to get it done ASAP
@@BOFIRacingTV summarizing, what was the total amount spent on rebuild and what parts did You changed? Rods, Headgasket (standard?), ARP head studs? I think, that I will be doing same stuff with my engine... haha
Bent my rod so bad I couldn't get it out without removing the piston pin
Nice video guys 👍
Thanks Martin 😊
Why the higher comp VVT bottom end is better for boost?
With good 99 RON fuel, we can use more timing with higher compression to make more power with less boost, keeping the turbo in its efficiency range so it heats up the charge less
Why most people swap vvt block on bp4w head?
What limiter settings is this using in ME? Lots of pops
Isn’t maxpeedingrods super questionable quality? This is the second vid I’ve seen you guys use them in
cheapest you can buy
I need my mx5 to sound like wills 🔊😎 35000 mile mk2.5 can you help?
Is it still running??
What turbo kits that and bhp u running
Awesome 👍
🙏
what wheels and tyres? like
Did you say minus 17 or minus 70 degrees lol
I'm wondering the same 😂
Definitely Leigh bent more, as he is a bit more bent I reckon
😅
Did the head you used in this have hydraulic lifters being a non VVT head? Are they happy enough to run with the VVT bottom end? Literally contemplating this exact set up as my bottom end has just gone boom!
The 98-00 NB1 BP4W head uses solid lifters. There would be enough oil pressure to run the lifters with the VVT bottom end still though.
Is it me or you didnt planned the head
cool video broski!! check out my channel as i build my turbo NB8B! cheers!
The way that you have your oil catch can routed is useless
WTF?! 13:43
