Just picked a mk1 with a non intercooled HKS turbo kit and piggy back ecu, dunno what it's running, it's fairly tame but this gives me inspiration to get some standalone and an intercooler....
We need to see what power it makes, it was at about 70% injector duty if I remeber correctly so the wastegate having one bolt holding it on probably saved it 😂
I went through a couple budget ebay turbos before I decided on a BorgWarner efr 6258. I guess they're hit or miss. But as mine is a daily, I sort of needed that reliability from the turbo. Great vid!
On my 1.6 I run a VF23 IHI Hybrid, last dyno saw 292whp with a cracked piston, currently having it rebuilt with Wiseco pistons. Let’s see where that gets me 🤞
We paid £110 for the turbo, £645 for the manifold and downpipe. DIYEFI sent us the ECU, then we used our own oil & water lines and an O2 sensor. Robbed the intercooler and pipework from other projects, which retails around £320 so probably £1600 all in
I fitted the same turbo last year, dumped it for a genuine td04 now as I had boost control issues. Wastegate port is too small so would hit over 1bar even when wired open!
port the wastegate. I had to do the same on my Borg Warner S1BG Turbo. It would hit 1.2bar (17psi) with the wastegate open. After a lot of porting it now works fine and I absolutely love that turbo. Running 17psi now, but with electronic boost control on my stock 1.6NB making about 230whp
@@mielsen7498 i had the same issues as Vyizis with my ebay td04, i ported the wastegate as much as possible and even shaved some off the channel that the exhaust gasses come from in the mail port and still creep issues... all i did was buy a used genuine exhaust housing and problem solved.
my ebay td04 has lasted a year at 10psi and still going strong, had to source a genuine exhaust housing though because the casting on the ebay one was shocking and was boost creeping like a motherfucker...
Nice quick boosted job Leigh. The Chinese TD04 probably could do with a better thrust bearing though - would make a good video Instead of the risky job of drilling the sump, why not take the oil drain to where the dip stick enters the block and connect there - you can make a simple Y-junction connection and avoid drilling the block!
Thanks Phil. We've drilled plenty of sumps but this time round I didn't measure it carefully enough and nearly paid the price. Closer to the front there is absolutely acres of space and it wouldn't have been an issue at all. Only concern with the dip stick drain is ensuring there is enough of a fall on drain hose to prevent the turbo getting backed up. I'll look into the thrust bearing, have you got any more info?
@@BOFIRacingTV all you have to do is make sure you service your car (tune up) but looking at this video and the way you treat your cars..no surprise that a hole in the sump is the best idea for you
i run a 95 1.8 with g19 manifold, downpipe & dipstick oil drain, ebay td04, ebay intercooler, ebay intercooler piping kit, rx8 yellow injectors powered by ME221 @ 276.2 bhp and 247.4 lb-ft
(crank) on 10psi

Maybe a dumb qyestion but can you still use your dipstick and why would you use it as a drain?
@@SybePlays Yep, still a functional dipstick and using it as a drain saves having to drill into the sump and risk shavings getting in the pan.

Nice! Get an intercooler on that and it'll be way better straight away
@@BOFIRacingTV would a piggy back cope with the change? Sorry total noob to piggy back ecus
1993 Mazda Miata limited edition. T2 turbo, 200hp
To be honest, the only thing that broke was the stock rad is pretty damn impressive. Should call this Miata "The Mule"

That's a serious step up in terms of turbo

Nice! TD04L turbine?
BOFI Racing something like that 😉
Class video. How much did this cost all in?

"Moog from wish".....brilliant! Was it just me or did it sound like it was knocking its brains out during the burnout?
No wasn't just you. Exactly what I was thinking
When it restarted it definitely was 🤣
I have a full eBay kit I pieced together on mine, works great. MSPNP2 and RX8 injectors
Jason Walker The Second I picked out all the parts separately. $100 eBay cast iron log manifold is what I put on mine
Just ordered more stuff from your website. Looking forward to seeing the stuff and fitting it
Thank you! 😊
I've ordered a genuine tdo4 and am waiting for it to be delivered. Its 4 times more expensive. I'm wondering should I just try this one? Thoughts?
All we have done is burnouts with it so far. We will put it on the dyno and see how long it lives

Just reread about it being a junction at the block. Good idea if we machined a fitting that kept the dipstick at the right level

Hows that rolling road coming along ?
Im commites to finishing my supercharger build but all these turbo videos!!!
Plenty of supercharger content to come!
So, did you dyno it?
I think you should do a rotary engine swap on one of your cars ASAP v8’s so common place. Turbo or NA.

just drill it and weld a bung
