    Looks good. I have an 85 shorty. Just swapped my 305 out with a peppy 350, and getting ready to re-harness the whole truck. Fuse box was toast and the wiring was atrocious. Once I learn a little more about LS, I'll eventually drop a 6.0 in.

      We have a 74 shortbed 4x4 that's getting a 6.0L also. Should be plenty of power! 😁 I think a lot of people are intimidated by LS swaps, but if you're willing to put some time and ingenuity into it, you'll be fine. We have a few videos on this 85 C10 swap, and more to come, so hopefully they'll help you out when you get to that point. Thanks for watching, and best of luck! ✌

    One thing to note is when pulling this from a junk yard if you are using the transmission you must take the entire black box off the transmission case with the plugs. These are glued in from the factory and require a heat gun to remove and reassemble.

    • @UglyTruckExperience
      @UglyTruckExperience  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    FYI for others watching this video....you can use E-85 in the older LS1/LS6 engines. You just need to change the fat EV1 injectors out with the skinny EV6 injectors. They're the same length and use the same electrical plug but are E-85 ready injectors.

    • @UglyTruckExperience
      @UglyTruckExperience  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! We're actually doing the same swap on a 1974 K10 which is virtually the same frame. I'm using a 4L65E and I used a Advance Adapters adapter to fit the trans to the NP208. That puts the transfer case in the stock position. I was able to use the truck's original motor mounts with the adapters I used in this video. I did have to grind on the adapters and the AC mount to make it fit. It's a really tight fit, I wish I had modified the frame before I set the engine in. We still have to finish this truck, so we'll have a video on it one of these days.

    • @UglyTruckExperience
      @UglyTruckExperience  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would love to try to do that myself. It would require the front differential being custom or modified. I have a 74 k10 with a 6.0 liter and a 4l60e transmission. I bought a adapter for that transmission to fit the original np205 transfer case on it in the stock location so I did not have to modify my driveline at all. Even though the adapter was a $1000.00 it was still probably the cheapest route. If you try it either way, let us know. Thanks

      @UglyTruckExperience  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We used the original motor mounts from the 305 we took out, and just used LS adapter plates. We used ICT adapters on this one, but we've used the LSX in the past and have had great luck with them. They make it pretty easy to get the engine to sit exactly where you want it. Here's a link!

    Those square bodies were some great looking trucks. But I would never use the 5.3. The 5.3 has a lot of valve train issues. I've even read many stories of spun bearings.

    • @UglyTruckExperience
      @UglyTruckExperience  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The square bodies are some of our favorite trucks. Every engine seems to have its own set of issues, but it has a lot to do with how well they are maintained. I think both the trusty 350/5.7 and the LS 5.3's are both going to be around for a long time. We like them all.

      @@diduck6878 We see so many issues with DOD/AFM/VVT. The fuel economy is great when everything works as it should, but when something goes wrong, it tends to be major.
