    I’d have to say... consider a 6/10 speed swap. SOMEBODY has to do one sooner or later in one of these older beasts of trucks.

      @@moose2934 its a pretty simple swap from what I researched. a 6 speed 6r80 will bolt on directly to the 5.4 and a custom drive shaft will be needed. ussshift sells a stand alone controller and then a tunner has to take out the trans from the tune as if you were running a manual trans.

    Silver fox valve body in the stock trans will help a ton. They’re awesome. Then when you pull the motor you can rebuild it with better parts and a converter.
    Also great job winning 3 out of 4 runs against a lighter truck with way newer technology and better fuel.

    5.0 coyote is cool but seeing a 5.4 2v pretty much keep up with a 5.0 is something else. First time seeing your channel, are all these videos pretty much a step by step tutorial?

    Heavy valve springs, a little higher duration cam, and up the limiter. Along with full forged bottom end, keep boost at 12 and your golden. Also jmod the 4r70w

      I wouldn't. The 4,6 can make plenty of power. Check out MMRs built blocks for the 4.6.

    Gramps is heavier and still ran with the coyote. I'm impressed with the times, stock lighting in 03 ran 14.0s from the factory in a regular cab lighter 2wd. I think your truck is doing great

    To sum up my replies on others comments, i'd go to pic n pull and grab front amd rear 3.73 factory differential instead of paying almost $3k to rebuild and throw on a throttle body elbow and throttle body from a v10 or accufab throttle body. These are 2 big differences for less than $400

    I’d say let the thing rev out too 6k. And try going to a 4r100.

      6k rpms would kill my stock rods. I’m toying with the idea of 4r100 or 6r80

    How much did it cost to complete your turbo project and is it clearly better than a supercharger?

    You could probably do a shift kit and change the shift points, and maybe do a different rear gear for better acceleration, another thing you could potentially do is lower the car with better suspension to increase your 0-60 time. Another potential thing you could do to the truck is get bigger wheels and tires for better traction, other than that I don't know any other way for improvement. You could probably put some cobra parts on the truck like a a throttle body and maybe intake manifold or something idk if it would fit but its an idea. Anyways I liked the video man, keep up the work! :)

      Yea i was looking into different builds and one I came up with is a lightning style throttle body which is dual blade 57mm instead of single 73-75mm. Amd 24lbs injectors NA. The lightning throttle body is the same for the navigator, cobra, and.... The v10. The v10 is the best donor to get from because the throttle elbow mounts the exact same as the 5.4l on the intake manifold side. And if you get the elbow you could upgrade to accufab single blade oval throttle body. Youll just have to reroute the intake pipe due to all v10 throttle elbows are curved to deiver side. Hope that helps.

    Good oil pump and mhs cams you can rev that 5.4 out and power wont drop off until 6400

    Have you thought about methanol and water injection to keep charge temps down in your intake? Might not be much but it would possibly increase efficiency of boost.

      I have an 01 that I'm slowly doing stuff to and I have some stuff planned for mine that could possibly help you. I know you said traction is an issue you could do traction bars like caltracs I'm planning on ladder bars in the rear for adjustable pinion for pre loading. I also have a 3 inch drop in the front and a 4 inch drop in the rear to lower center of gravity. I am planning on a twin turbo setup with methanol and water injection. Also a rear and front diff regear could help your times.

    id save my money and get an ecoboost 3.5 do the swap and its very fun ive got a 2105 f150 3.5 stage 3 turbos headers downpipe and intercooler a coldair intake tuned with e85 and its a beast. will be testing at the track

    You should get a 4r100 trani from a lightning and upgrade it to support more power if that trani is capable of fitting on this 5.4 without a supercharger I think it should fit right in

      I've thought about doing a 4r100 out of an expedition so I can keep the 4x4. I'd have to get rid of the 4x4 to run a Lightning trans. I really want to do a 6r80 when this one goes.

    No doubt you are suffering from the torque converter slipping, and of course the low stall.
    Gearing is way too high and needs to be 4:10-4:30 final drive adjusted for tire size.
    Without major engine mods you are limited.
    Cams could help a bit but be careful using stock valve train parts.
    You are at the limit of stock motor power without spending some $$$ for rods/pistons/bore/ported heads.
    Water/meth is not a terrible idea with the current setup.

    the rev limiter you should set it to 5900 ish rpm, I know that 2 valve should handle a little more then 5k

    Honestly man the 3.55s and the 4 speed are whats killing ya.. When you install the built motor I'd put in some 4.10s or 3.73s

      Yea i had a 99 5.4l f150 with 3.55 and now an 03 f150 with stock 3.73. And just the small gear change makes a hugeee difference! Definitely swap gears man! You can probably grab stock 3.73 axles at any pic n pull. Just look at axle codes

    Hey mate I have a question, I have a 2003 lincoln navigator with the same engine, and currently, it's cracked and I'm planning on swapping the engine and I'd like to know what is the exact engine measurements and if I could put the new ford 7.3L Godzilla into it. On the ford website, I can find the exact measurements for the engine but I can't find the exact measurements for the 5.4 triton.

    I have a 05 F150 w/ the 5.4. Been thinking of doing the coyote swap vs building the 5.4 anyone have any thoughts on this? My truck is a pre-runner and made for the dirt.

      Build that (3v??) !! Don't spend $10+k on a stock Coyote when you can put that money to good use n save a couple of thousands of $$$ while having a stronger engine with boost at 1k hp.. I'm a 2v guy so i'd build me a 5.4L 2v, but the 3v makes a bit more power..

      Oh yeah, but the stock rods don’t like anything much higher than 5,500, so it would probably blow to pieces pushing the rpms that high.

    I have a ton of ideas that I wanna do but can't financially 😔😂😂 but man, do a shift correction kit on the trans, will improve speed and smoother and quicker shifts. Its a $50 dollar kit. Another thing is, get a 80mm throttle body. I have one and my truck is n/a but it definitely pulls better. Ditch the fan cluth and get electric ones, lightweight crank pulleys. And install high performance ignition coils. And best upgrade you can do, is tire upgrade 🤣

      I already have electric fans to make room for the charge pipe, but a shift kit seems like it might be next.

      I can attest to the performance coils making a difference. Long story short I accidently got accel 3v coils for my 2v not paying attention(which they're rated for higher voltages, so lucked out) and ran them for couple years but then switched to the Msd street fire i believe, the red ones. And man what a difference over accel not just in performance but quality too. When i first installed the accel coils I changed the plugs knowing it would give me back some power, but wasnt expecting a significant gain like I got. So definitely helps. Also make sure theres no slack in throttle cable from inside the cab. Look under dash as very tip top of gas pedal where the cable attaches. Then you simply lift up on the gas pedal until it reaches full extension and see if theres slack. If so, add zip ties in a row to take up slack. One obvious way you can tell is if the gas pedal sits way lower in line with than brake pedal. My father in laws expedition was shifting odd, constantly in and out of overdrive when accelerating, didnt have a ton of torque. He had over 1in of slack so we threw 3 zip ties on it. And now shifting perfectly, and way more down low grunt with quicker throttle response. Man he was tickled pink like we threw on 6lbs of boost😅

    6R80 in that sucker would be deadly, 6 gears would be the perfect match for your motor you'd have a way better power band instead of having to lug down too 3500 every shift and you don't have to push through those tall ass gears so hard

      Don't know about a 6R80 but a 4R100 definately will. It might suck up some of your horsepower but it is WAY more stout than 4R70.

      There’s a guide for swapping a 6R80 into a 99-04 Mustang. They use 2v engines and 4R70W transmissions as well.

      @@AutoDetour you can get a 6r80 from an 09-10 5.4 F150. Believe 5.4 Expeditions around 06-14 too. Then you get an aftermarket controller. I have had a couple boosted 5.4s and the 4r100 just shifts way better under power than even the multiple different built 4r70ws I tried.
