    It’s time for an almighty American tug of war!
    Mat’s kicking off this video in the Chevrolet Silverado, and he’s going up against the Ford F-150!
    Now of course, when it comes to a tug of war it’s all about pulling power, so let’s check out their stats! Starting with the Chevy, it’s powered by a 6.2-litre naturally-aspirated V8 that can deliver 420hp & 624Nm of torque. It’s pretty heavy too, as you can imagine, weighing in at 2,600kg.
    Next up we have the Ford. It’s hiding a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 under the bonnet that can put down 450hp & 691Nm of torque. Its weight is also pretty identical to the Chevy. So with that in mind, you might think the result is a foregone conclusion, right?
    But that’s not all! We have a special guest joining us… a 6.7-litre straight-six powered Dodge RAM! Its power may be down compared to the F-150, at 420hp, but its pulling power is absolutely insane! Want to find out what it can pull? Then you’ll have to keep watching… 😉

      Traction and gearing is all that matters. Weight is a factor in traction but not the only factor. 2 million pounds on ice may have less traction than 2000 pounds on asphalt with the right tires. So a riding lawn mower with the right gearing and traction could pull a monster truck with the wrong gearing or wrong traction.

    I must say, I do not think it is the almost 1,5kNm of torque, but the heavier vehicle that made it possible to tug the Ford that easily. Torque would usually just spin the wheels, except when you have immensely more grip (due to weight). But this is also due to the characteristic of a Diesel engine being able to pull at low rpms. The V6 has to have a much higher rpm to generate torque which subsequently results in an easier loss of grip.

    • @Smoke---
      @Smoke--- ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I might be wrong, but I don’t think that’s how it works, because of the transmission. The transmission makes it so that even revving at 5000 in the gas truck, your wheels can be moving at the same speed as the diesel truck revving at 1500

    • @rogerpowers3891
      @rogerpowers3891 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The weight of the vehicle is what allows you to reach the potential of whatever torque your truck has available. So you're right, more right means more traction and therefore more torque is available to use.

The weight is likely not the only factor to put each of these vehicles in separate realms of performance. Maybe rematch on some asphalt (tarmac)?

    The issue is you have a fast off-road truck in the Raptor, a plain jane Chevy Silverado and a Dodge diesel heavy duty truck, they all do different things well. @@burgerbandit3646 Agreed. TRX has almost no payload or towing capacity, but anyone who is going to work a truck hard isn't likely to get a 1/2 ton anyway. I would put my Cummins ISB powered Ram 2500 against a TRX any day on any surface (I have front and rear locking diffs). The only thing that the TRX does better is acceleration and stopping when not towing. We even have the same amount of peak torque (650 lb ft), but I'm going to have that torque number over a much wider rev range and I'm not running a 3.55 final drive (4.56 which equates to about 4.24 given 37" tires vs TRX on 35s).

    Super entertaining and love the video, however the stats of the trucks have nothing to do with the winner here. It's a question of traction and traction alone. Has they all been wearing the same tires, it would have been a battle of the trucks, their power output, traction systems, etc. However, without eliminating the variable of coefficient of friction, who knows who would actually win? Could have been the lightest and least powerful truck had it the best tires.
