      It's funny because yesterday my sister was watching a video that mentioned her, and she said: "Who is Kylie Minoog? (yes, she said it like that)" Being that one of my sister's favorite characters in gaming is Cammy, I was disappointed she didn't know her and gave her the facts. Though, to be fair, I wouldn't expect her or anyone to actually watch this movie. lol

This game quenched that thirst for a while, until Street Fighter Alpha, X-Men:Children of the Atom and Darkstalkers/Night Warriors showed up. After those games and others showed up these were hardly revisited...there are probably a lot of pristine SF:The Movie discs out there.

    I never owned or even played any version of this game. However, I remember around 1997-98?, I had a Game Informer magazine. Which showed a well detailed move list, combos list, and super moves, of each character on the Sega Saturn version. I musta been 11 or 12 years old. It had several pages with many great detailed screen shots, which at the time looked impressive. I dreamed of finding the game for a couple years, but just never could get my hands on it. I always had my face smothered in that magazine, drooling over the screens shots. I took that magazine everywhere, to hell and back, until it was crispy and wrinkly. I'll tell ya, even tho I never played it, HOLY CRAP, is it nostalgic to me. Just based on that nostalgia alone, I think it'd be worth playing for fun.

    I always liked fighting games with air juggles, so I was a fan of the arcade version... never understood why people hated it so much. It's certainly not a Mortal Kombat knockoff; it kind of looks similar, but doesn't play anything like MK.
    A friend of mine had the Saturn version, which was slower than the arcade version, and played nothing like it. I was really bummed about that.

    • @budgiecat9039
      @budgiecat9039 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah the PS1/Saturn versions were pointless because they were just a palette swap for SF II Turbo. Just like how Dragonball Evolution on PSP was nothing more than a skin swap of Dragon Ball Z Shin Budokai for PSP. So just like that game, at that point, you might as well play the original game then. Especially since the PS1/Saturn version had poorer framerate at that. The arcade version is completely different which then makes it unique; plus it had superior framerate.

    Street Fighter: The Movie (Arcade) is a Speedrunner's Go To option, based on my experience with it, the amount you can do with its Combo Stacking is more than enough to deliver phenomenal results from a Showcasing perspective and this is why it is a fan favourite of the TAS community in recent years; what I presently don't know about the Saturn and PSX version is whether or not its engine benefits from a CPU Overclock of the console, wishfully doing so will reduce some of the issues with Slowdown that these builds had (if not Coding Optimizations, if that can alternatively be done in a mod) and allow for an experience that is more on par with the Panasonic and Dreamcast versions of Super Turbo, the Home Edition of SF: TM definitely deserves the uplift after all these years and wishfully somebody out there has managed to improve upon it outside of what we've seen in the Mugen scene thus far (see how these characters function in Mortal Kombat: New Era for better clarity).

      imyanigmw I know there are people out there that like it, but the ones I’ve spoken to never really played Street Fighter as a kid. They don’t understand why I hated it when it came out.

      Growing up as an avid street fighter fan in the 90s, the movie was a dream come true. I think Van Damme playing Guile was a no brainers back then and as a 13 year didnt care how others perceived that movie. The Street Fighter movement was at its highest at the time and I'm simply glad I was too young to hate this movie, lol.

    I wonder how far you can extend those combos and juggles? I like the air to air and the fact you can tech the throw tech. I'd be interested to try the arcade version, not sure I'm interested in the ports. Thanks for another great video.

    I started playing Street Fighter II: The World Warrior in the arcade in 1991 when I was 16, and it quickly became one of my all-time favorite video games. I was still playing Street Fighter games regularly in 1994 when the movie came out, and went to see it in the theater. I thought the movie was okay. After the movie I went to Space Port in the Bangor Mall to play Street Fighter and they had Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game there. It was terrible. It felt nothing like a Street Fighter game, and that's the only time I ever played it in the arcade. Many years later I tried it again in MAME but it was just as bad as I remembered.

    I feel like I'm the only person in the world who played this in the arcade back in da day. It didn't hold my interest super long but I did play it. I stopped when I figured out akuma has a strong Tatsu infinite. But still I didn't think this game was absolutely terrible. Even then I enjoyed myself playing it. But it doesn't feel like Street Fighter, that much be true. It's like a weird Street Fighter/ Mortal Kombat hybrid, not Just because of the digitized fighters, but the gameplay itself feels like it has early Moral Kombat's jankiness (you know what I mean. High punch spam ftw!) Mixed with some of Street Fighters incredible precision (combos, cancels, reversals, and all those mechanics that give the game its incredible balance for which we praise it). Its a really funky mix and hard to describe to a person who only knows modern fighters. The amount of incredible jank we were forced to deal with in some games...you guys can't even imagine.

    Don't know if it was mentioned yet, the actor who played T. Hawk, Gregg Rainwater, got paid his portion of his contract to begin filming frames for the game, but he kept the money and never showed up. I like this game. While choppy, the Saturn version has some nostalgia value for me, because I am a huge fan of the movie

    I don’t know about the UK, but in the US, unless you had a 3DO or a good PC, this was the closest thing you could get to having SSF2T on a home console. I had the Saturn version. This might have been the first title that really showed how much of a 2D powerhouse the Saturn was as compared to the PSOne

    Eesh....I remember back, probably in 1996 when I found a PC set Capcom was offering. It had a copy of Super Street Fighter 2 (with Mega Man 1 and 3), a cheap-feeling six-button controller and a VHS copy of Street Fighter the Movie. Marked down to $4.99. Pretty much all I ended up using was the controller; the game wasn't that good on my PC (with Mega Man 1 and 3 being particularly horrible), and the less said about the Movie, the better. However, I still own Street Fighter the Move the Game for my Saturn.
    And I have to say, while it wasn't all that great a Street Fighter game, as a regular old fighting game I had fun with it.
