      @@Alakazzam09 The different grooves (including custom grooves) and the ratio system give it more meaningful options than any other fighter I can think of. By far, actually. It also has an extremely large and diverse cast of fan favorites from the two biggest 2D fighting powerhouses.

      Not everyone loves it, electronic music ages horribly and this is basically an europop mixtape, I like rock soundtracks on fighting games personally, but many other genres fit as long as they put effort in creating something fitting, like the bluesy, classic, jazzy, folk soundtrack of Fatal Fury, Art Of Fighting and earlier kof's. The soundtrack of MVC and MVC2 was lazily made and was probably just outsourced rather than designed with the game in mind.

    • @Judgment
      @Judgment 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      CvS2 soundtrack is good. The variety in numbers is a bit lacking during actual game play, as there's not many stages to choose from, especially during the arcade days (only six stages were available in versus mode - New York was surprisingly available in 1P only). All things considered, it aged very well. So did CvS1 to be honest.

One of the things I loved was its nods to other fighters, for instance., when Sagat wins and can be heard saying "try again kid" a reference to his what the player heard when they lost in the first street fighter. My biggest gripe with this game was Capcom recycling character sprites (Morrigan is the biggest offender here). If they gave Chun Li new sprites, everyone else that needed them should have had them (MORRIGAN).
    Another gripe I have is that this game could easily be Street Fighter vs King of Fighters. More character diversity was needed. This game could do without the evil and superpowered clones.
    Another gripe is the lack of EX moves. That was a missed opportunity, especially for P groove.

    The reason people love the Cube controller is because it feels good on the hands, the A button on the center and the rest of the buttons around make it easy to press simultaneously with the other buttons, the stick feel like they can endure everything and are precise, and that "clang" sound the triggers do make you feel like you're actually pulling a trigger.

    The Game Cube controller is one of the best ever made, "awful" is a word more suitable for the Dreamcast controller but anyways xD, incredible video about the greatest VS fighting crossover in gaming history.
    PD: God Rugal stage music is awesome, the rest is just correct, but overall this game has a better OST than Street Fighter III, Alpha 3 or Marvel Vs Capcom 2....and this is a fact. Awesome work Top Hat Gaming-san , please do SNK VS CAPCOM Chaos too!!!

    The reason the gamecube version was inferior was never about the controller. It was about the techs that other versions had were removed from the gamecube specifically. The roll cancel was removed in gc but it was placed in other versions. So obviously you’re missing out on a big gameplay feature used as a staple in the arcade.

    As someone who grew up playing fighting games on a controller rather then on sticks, I definitely prefer the PS2 controller. At this point it's jus muscle memory for me.
    Square-Triangle-R1 are your Punches
    X-Circle-R2 are your kicks
    L1- ex punches
    L2- ex kicks.
    Mind you not all game have the EX mechanic so those are generally replaceable
    Also the reason the GameCube controller is regarded as one of the best I think is how comfortable it is to hold. The indents on the triggers really made holding it feel nice. Definitely not my pick for a fighting game outside of Smash Bros.

    My only complaint about the CvS games is I feel the King of Fighters original characters (Kyo, Iori, etc.) did not adapt well to the slower Street Fighter-style engine. Fatal Fury characters did alright because that game ran at a similar speed, but KoF is an extremely fast-paced game and the characters were made with that in mind.
    That aside, this game is one of the best fighters ever made. I still give the edge to MvC2, but this is a real close 2nd.

  • @blvk3
    @blvk3 5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    1st off, the MAD story should be: how many mistakes can be picked up in this video
    P groove is totally from sf3 series.
    I guess you never tried that game series in depth at all
    this really annoyed me, when you get this so wrong
    moreover, i am not even trying to correct anymore groove references, because it is well established everywhere in the FGC by now
    after watching the whole video, i can tell this is one the least researched video from you to-date, such as groove origins and character origins
    with mistake everywhere, butchered names also everywhere.
    i am still amazed at how you would still be doing fighting games videos, despite knowing very little of them in general, i have watched all of them from you, and i was holding back on commenting, because i could see you have been trying very hard, although you had mistakes here and there.
    But you totally dont get this game at all, this game is meant to be a celebration of both companies 's pre-millennium creations and clashed them together for fans, this is a very comprehensive piece of art, very fun and yet very unbalanced. Not only you have a vast selection of chars, but you can also use different grooves in combinations which will affect the play style of the characters, not to mention different ratios and will impact team combinations as well.
    yes the sprites can do some work, mostly right with Morrigan's, but 80% of them are new redrawns, barring a few from SFA3, and the 3D background is a bit meh from todays standard. but you have to consider what year it was released on, it was 2001 and 2D backgrounds were considered outdated, and i was to wowed by that when i saw that in the arcade when they combined 2D played style with 3D animated background, although i do admit if they had added the intro for each stage, just like CVS, it would have been perfect.
    lastly the GC controller, not going to say it is perfect. but if you consider MOST of the game that we play, regardless genre, we have ONE main button which we use the most, it could be a side-scroller, like veiwtiful joe, 3D platformer like modern Mario, even survival horror like REmake, THE ONE button that you press constantly you dont want to miss it, and in a design philosophy it totally makes sense, and it shouldnt be dismissed as bad design just because it is not a traditional button layout. and i personally loved it, and the only downside is that it doesnt work well in fighting games, that i cant argue.
