Choco Loco James they sort of did with the beatemup collection at least with arcade spiritual sequels which they legally held the rights to the characters for, that said not sure why they excluded the snes games when they always include super ghouls and ghost in similar ghost and goblins collections

final fight is such an iconic game! this was the pinnacle of the beat em up genre which spawned games like streets of rage and turtles in time. great job here man
A game that I recommend covering that gets unfortunately overlooked, and technically a prequel to Final Fight that features Mike Haggar in his wrestling days, is Muscle Bomber aka Saturday Night Slam Masters. The art and character design by Tetsuo Hara of Fist of the North Star is still great!
I love Street Fighter and Final Fight and was so hyped when they finally officially merged back in Street Fighter Alpha. Playing as Guy I'm SF was awesome.
Some of SNK's team used to be a part of Capcom as well. No doubt about it, that definitely was Duck King 😎 probably character designer added it to be an easter egg.
It's been a well-known fact that the original final fight was intended to be a sequel to Street Fighter but what I truly love about it is the fact that Capcom was going to integrate the final fight world into Street Fighter! Growing up in the 80s I played this game many times in the the arcade and always dreamt to fight alongside Cody and poison fighting with the likes of Cammy and Ryu! Luckily my dream has finally came true and I couldn't be any more happier!

Of course, given the times we live in, I find myself doubting anyone voicing an opinion that says she was always 100% female and not get crucified for it.

Cody's lore is soo interesting. Out of alot of the cast he has had some of the best story arcs. From hero to criminal to mayor of metro city. I don't get how you can call Cody boring or generic.

The intro animation is also censored between the Japanese version and the US. The Japanese version show Jessica on TV in her underwear when the US version got the edit out. In the Sega CD however they recreated it with her red dress as seen at the end of games.
I remember having a huge crush on poison and still do ever since! Still hate that stupid no punching girls policy passed by Nintendo for the SNES because it's made her sexuality always a question and confusing ever since!
And the decision didn't age well. What they basically said was you can't hit women, but it's ok to beat up trans people. Yikes. Nevermind that not too long afterwards they'd just put Chun-Li in Street Fighter II.
I think Final Fight should adopt the Yakuza open-world sandbox style. Capture the same level of humor with mini-games that have shout-outs to other Capcom properties. For example, a mathematician loses his thesis and you're tasked to find his missing papers, but when you bring them all back, it's the formula for Forth Energy from _Star Gladiator._ Do stuff with that with solid gameplay and it'll work.
Best wording I've heard yet as to the explanation for Poison, thanks man! And did I hear the phrase "down the rabbit hole" right next to Poison? Part of me would like to think that's a tip of the (top) hat but maybe I'm dreaming. Either way awesome video and A-M-A-Z-I-N-G thumbnail once again
I want a massive capcom fighting game. They don’t need no marvel, tekken or SNK to crossover with. Some final fight, street fighter, darkstalkers, rival schools, etc, characters, plus other capcom characters. Think the capcom version of smash brothers, but in the style of marvel vs capcom 2 or dragonball fighters. Bonus game on the home console will be a beat em up style game like final fight.
There was Capcom Fighting Jam, but that was fairly meh and not massive, I think a crossover with Konami could be cool too, but Konami prob don't possess the sense of fun enough for that anymore
You missed final fight one for the gba arguably the most interesting version with alpha versions of guy and Cody as unlockables. Mighty Final Fight also at least deserves mention unless you plan to give it its own video
OH YEAH! Sis & I played this game to death. Arcade, SNES, Sega CD (esp sega CD). Only a few in the series we didn't play. You know, I'd like to see a remaster with all the special features and more and 3-4 players at once (yeah maybe add in someone from 2-3). Considering that Double Dragon got an awesome facelift I think it'd be cool. And some of us still want to see a mix of FF & SOR (but not as BOR). combo.
i don't want to see that because then you'll have fans baying at the moon for SoR characters in Street Fighter and they really aren't that interesting. i played SoR 1&2 and i hardly remember them.

It's ridicolous how they keep throwing more and more obscure characters from Final Fight in modern Street Fighter games... yet they still don't include Geki, the absolute best character from Street Fighter 1.
Capcom drop the ball on Street Fighters 30th Anniversary they should have made a Street Fighter game with all the characters from Street Fighter One to Street Fighter 4.
Well, Mike Hagar's fighting style kinda lived on through Zangief; if you look closely at Zangief's moves & animations from the various Street Fighter II games and even into Street Fighter ZERO2 & ZERO3/Alpha2 & Alpha3, they're very similar, if not identical to Hagar. As for Hagar himself? Ehh. Storywise, it wouldn't be the most possible thing; being the mayor of Metro City, he's a busy man. As for Street Fighter ZERO, where everyone is younger, well, at that point, Hagar was probably busy with his wrestling career in Saturday Night Slam Masters. (Unlike Mike Bison aka Balrog, who was a boxer who got banned for fighting dirty, or even Zangief, who wanted to show his Russian pride & strength to the world)
I absolutely adore this game. I would play it daily at my nearby convenience store and was one of the very first games I purchased for my Super Famicom all while Final Fight was still heavy in the arcades! Since the early 90's I've owned Final Fight for the following; 1) Super Famicom. 2) Sega CD (excellent port). 3) xBox via Capcpm Classics. 4) PS3 via PSN Double Impact. 5) iOS. 6) Nintendo Switch. There is no good reason why Capcom has not re invested $ into this series for 1) revamp of the original game with updated HD graphics and 2) a proper sequel.
Final Fight was initially shown off as a sequel to Street Fighter which is what Capcom wanted (as Street Fighter ’89) - one of the main characters in the game, Haggar, even refers to himself as a former Street Fighter - but after arcade operators saying it was nothing like the fighting game, the title was finally changed to Final Fight before its official release, after feedback from operators stating that the game was nothing like Street Fighter.
Mike Haggar is so well liked we overlook what would only be a tragedy in others. When does Mike train legs? He probably say it's an optical illusion caused by his corduroys of Justice.
1) There is no preproduction proof that Final Fight was supposed to be "Street Fighter '89." At one point in development, a team member suggested the name, but upon feedback in trials, it was confirmed a bad idea. 2) The Andore Family was inspired by a friend of Nintendo of Japan. 2) Lou Ferrigno has a "g" in the name.
Talking more about arcade games is, I think, a good idea. There are a lot of videos on TH-cam about games on home consoles. Arcade games are less discussed.
You were right the first time, it reflects NYC in the 70s. The first stage is pretty much the Bronx during the 70s. The later stages are pretty much going to manhattan.

RJ if you do a bit of research, I’m sure you’ll find that the original designers of Poison described her as a new half ( Japanese term for a trans person). Or so I believe.
Streets of Fire, what a wonderful somewhat overlooked gem of a movie. Many people haven’t even heard of this movie, now that is a crime. The soundtrack of this movie is wonderful too, checkout it out on TH-cam. The track “Tonight Is What It Means To Be Young” alone is awesome. The movies has a strange, timeless feel to it. It’s like a mix of the 1950’s & 80’s. A wonderful movie, must be checked out. My first experience of playing this franchise was the version on the Gameboy Advance, called Final Fight One. And it’s a pretty good port too, impressive for a GBA game.
Final Fight is easy to pick up and play but will take time to master.. I’ve always liked this genre ever since Kung Fu Master.. An oft underlooked gem which may be the best of it’s kind all around is Bruce Lee on gba.. It’s my favorite beat em up yet no one ever mentions it!
Final Fight takes time to master? For me, it was Double Dragon. Final Fight didn't have that many moves, but it did have combos. The reason why no one talks about Final Fight anymore is because Capcom took that game in lame directions when they gave it to North America. Japan still loves it, but America ruined it, even with the Street Fighter cartoon series and Final Fight Revenge & Streetwise.
Ken Masters Final Fight being it obviously has less moves makes it feel a lot more timing based to me.. Almost tho not quite akin to an automatic running game..

I still remember playing this game in a 7-Eleven when I was nine or ten years old. I still have some great memories of the arcade (machines) back when it was literally everywhere. Good times.
Still got love for this game after all these years. I knew people that played the coin-op so much they could finish it with a single credit for each player. I still remember being blown away by Final Fight on the SNES, although for some reason I never bought it... I did however get the MegaCD version which was superb. I still own the game as a part of a 360 Capcom compilation. Might have to dig it out...
Growing up, I never had a Super Nintendo. I had the Sega Genesis and Sega CD. I grew up playing Streets of Rage and Streets of Rage 2. Final Fight was seen as a "weak wannabe" by me and my friends. But also seemed to be the Nintendo exclusive. I never played until I got Final Fight CD, which was cool. But I really got into the series when I recognized Hugo and Poison in Street Fighter 3: Third Strike! And again in Street Fighter 4. I wanted to know EVERYTHING that made them cross over!

The lightly scribbled note include in the concept art, definitely suggest that the idea of having a woman in a gang, beaten up by the players, was something that didn't sit well with the office worked or higher ups. I had the SNES version of this on 3.5" floppy disks before, since I had a UFO 18mbit disk unit for my Super Famicom. I have no idea if the games I had on disk still work or not. I got to enjoy Final fight on one of the Capcom Classic collections on the original Xbox.
One of the various nicknames (of which there are least 14 major ones) of New York City is Metropolis. Calling it Metro City is no different then calling it Metropolis or Gotham in the Superman and Batman universes when obviously it's basically New York. It's just another version of something familiar and easy to draw on.

Pretty sure Zangief is the reason Haggar hasn't made it to street fighter yet as they would be about as similar as ryu and ken.

I absolutely adore this game. I would play it daily at my nearby convenience store and was one of the very first games I purchased for my Super Famicom all while Final Fight was still heavy in the arcades! Since the early 90's I've owned Final Fight for the following;
1) Super Famicom.
2) Sega CD (excellent port).
3) xBox via Capcpm Classics.
4) PS3 via PSN Double Impact.
5) iOS.
6) Nintendo Switch.
There is no good reason why Capcom has not re invested $ into this series for 1) revamp of the original game with updated HD graphics and 2) a proper sequel.
Beat 'em ups have been pretty dead as a genre ever since the 32-bit consoles came around. They never worked quite as well in full 3D.

Final Fight was initially shown off as a sequel to Street Fighter which is what Capcom wanted (as Street Fighter ’89) - one of the main characters in the game, Haggar, even refers to himself as a former Street Fighter - but after arcade operators saying it was nothing like the fighting game, the title was finally changed to Final Fight before its official release, after feedback from operators stating that the game was nothing like Street Fighter.

Haggar was the star of Saturday Night Slam Masters, which you should definitely cover, as well as Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Infinite.
1) There is no preproduction proof that Final Fight was supposed to be "Street Fighter '89." At one point in development, a team member suggested the name, but upon feedback in trials, it was confirmed a bad idea.
2) The Andore Family was inspired by a friend of Nintendo of Japan.
2) Lou Ferrigno has a "g" in the name.
Talking more about arcade games is, I think, a good idea. There are a lot of videos on TH-cam about games on home consoles. Arcade games are less discussed.
You were right the first time, it reflects NYC in the 70s. The first stage is pretty much the Bronx during the 70s. The later stages are pretty much going to manhattan.

Nope. She was listed from the beginning in concept art as a newhalf. Meaning she was never 100% female.

RJ if you do a bit of research, I’m sure you’ll find that the original designers of Poison described her as a new half ( Japanese term for a trans person). Or so I believe.
Streets of Fire, what a wonderful somewhat overlooked gem of a movie. Many people haven’t even heard of this movie, now that is a crime. The soundtrack of this movie is wonderful too, checkout it out on TH-cam. The track “Tonight Is What It Means To Be Young” alone is awesome. The movies has a strange, timeless feel to it. It’s like a mix of the 1950’s & 80’s. A wonderful movie, must be checked out. My first experience of playing this franchise was the version on the Gameboy Advance, called Final Fight One. And it’s a pretty good port too, impressive for a GBA game.

Final Fight is easy to pick up and play but will take time to master.. I’ve always liked this genre ever since Kung Fu Master..
An oft underlooked gem which may be the best of it’s kind all around is Bruce Lee on gba.. It’s my favorite beat em up yet no one ever mentions it!
Final Fight takes time to master? For me, it was Double Dragon. Final Fight didn't have that many moves, but it did have combos.
The reason why no one talks about Final Fight anymore is because Capcom took that game in lame directions when they gave it to North America. Japan still loves it, but America ruined it, even with the Street Fighter cartoon series and Final Fight Revenge & Streetwise.
Ken Masters Final Fight being it obviously has less moves makes it feel a lot more timing based to me.. Almost tho not quite akin to an automatic running game..

Your work is outstanding, well, Final Fight is like the competitor of SEGA’s Streets of Rage games, if this is going to be a series dedicated to Final Fight, how about a video telling why FF 2 & FF 3 are only released on consoles and there is no arcade version of them as far as I know.

I think Metro City is supposed to be in New Jersey, with Manhattan, New York in the background across the water. I wouldn't have thought of this until I moved to the East Coast!

I still remember playing this game in a 7-Eleven when I was nine or ten years old.
I still have some great memories of the arcade (machines) back when it was literally everywhere. Good times.
I think we've seen enough official Poison art to say either she's actually a woman this whole time, or her surgeon is really good at avoiding scars.

I knew people that played the coin-op so much they could finish it with a single credit for each player. I still remember being blown away by Final Fight on the SNES, although for some reason I never bought it... I did however get the MegaCD version which was superb. I still own the game as a part of a 360 Capcom compilation. Might have to dig it out...

Growing up, I never had a Super Nintendo. I had the Sega Genesis and Sega CD. I grew up playing Streets of Rage and Streets of Rage 2. Final Fight was seen as a "weak wannabe" by me and my friends. But also seemed to be the Nintendo exclusive. I never played until I got Final Fight CD, which was cool. But I really got into the series when I recognized Hugo and Poison in Street Fighter 3: Third Strike! And again in Street Fighter 4. I wanted to know EVERYTHING that made them cross over!
The arcade version and sega cd is really the best way to enjoy this game.

The lightly scribbled note include in the concept art, definitely suggest that the idea of having a woman in a gang, beaten up by the players, was something that didn't sit well with the office worked or higher ups. That's why it was scribbled in. Though I wonder how well that would sit in today's political climate.
You can play Final Fight on a Sony Psp and the port is excellent only downside does not have the Sega CD soundtrack version.
Mike Haggar was in Saturday night slam masters which is a very good and fun game...Capcom should have included Haggar and a few characters from slam masters in the street fighter titles...

I had the SNES version of this on 3.5" floppy disks before, since I had a UFO 18mbit disk unit for my Super Famicom. I have no idea if the games I had on disk still work or not. I got to enjoy Final fight on one of the Capcom Classic collections on the original Xbox.

One of the various nicknames (of which there are least 14 major ones) of New York City is Metropolis. Calling it Metro City is no different then calling it Metropolis or Gotham in the Superman and Batman universes when obviously it's basically New York. It's just another version of something familiar and easy to draw on.
