Casting a former Batman VA as Harvey is a really cool touch - especially for a character who seems heroic and noble, but has something...off about them under the surface.
Since Hamill voiced Joker in several different continuities, I don’t see an issue with having DiMaggio voicing him in this show. Especially since he’s been so underutilized in the part. He’s my second favorite joker voice and a big reason is because he sounds nothing like Hamill, and stands more on his own compared to say Troy Baker or Allen Tudick (although both do great jobs as well)
The way they’re approaching Two-Face actually reminded me of how he was handled in Beware the Batman. He was initially a narcissistic and pretentious politician who become corrupt while trying to bring down Batman in his bid for mayor. He becomes disfigured and slowly goes insane, but the show got cancelled before we got to see their tale on Two-Face.
I'm curious about how they'll handle Bruce and Alfred's relationship. In the golden age Alfred was a recent hire at Wayne Manor, but so many picture Alfred as his modern interpretation as Bruce's surrogate father figure that I don't think they can get away from it. It will be interesting to see.
If this Batman's a ruthless, brutal vigilante who uses lethal force, it would make sense that he didn't have a parental figure like Alfred in his life growing up to ground him.

Edit: I'm reminded of Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders, which was an animated film made as a continuation of the 66 Batman series. In it they include a line about how Alfred worked for the Waynes since Bruce was a child, even though, as you mention, that was not canon at the time of the show.
I think it would be interesting if we see most of Batman's major foes during season one, but in their pre-supervillain/civilian stage, setting them up to become villains in later seasons. I also find it interesting that they revealed eight villains, and that there are ten episodes. If each villain gets an episode, that means that there are still two villains who haven't been revealed yet. Unless there are two episodes that don't feature a supervillain
I am happy McKenna Grace was cast. In one of her interviews she said her favorite role was background noises in Lego Batman, thus she would be very happy to have a Batman related role.

two face's design spoilers: He looks like a regular guy in a black and white suit, except half of his face is scarred except it's still in his regualr skintone and it's on his left instead of right side. almost like an injured disfigured war veteran (made the comparison considering the era this show takes place in.)
I wonder if a pre-Joker Jack Napier will made an appearance. I'm not very keen on him wearing a red pail on his head, but they could reference his Red Hood identity from the comics by having him wear a distinctive red suit which earns him the nickname.
If this show's Alfred is going to be inspired by Golden Age stories, I wonder if this version of Batman will be raised by his Uncle Phillip (allowing the show to later introduce Kate Kane AKA Batwoman) and Alfred, much like in the comics, will meet Bruce in the first episode becoming his butler and his first ally. This detail could even help the series if the creators decide to adapt the iconic "Year one" moment, in which Bruce, after being inspired by the bat, calls Alfred to help him. In the show, this could represent the first time Bruce ask someone's help, accepting Alfred as an ally
Having Kate be a part of Bruce's life could inform a lot of his relationship with Harley. I feel like her being a lesbian is something she has to keep on the low-down since, you know, 1940s. But if Bruce grew up with his cousin, who is also queer, it could help him empathize with Harley in a way the Batman can't.
Part of me wonders if they might try to bring in the largely forgotten detail that before he became Batman's butler Alfred was an actor who showed up randomly one day to apply for the job and found out the secret identity of Batman and Robin by complete accident.

Another hope of mine is that this show uses more well known villains unlike the last stand alone animated Batman show we got, Beware The Batman which used six of them (Ra's Al Ghul, Lady Shiva, Deathstroke, Killer Croc, Man Bat (who was only a villain in one episode) and Two-Face) and then filled the cast with a bunch of relatively unknown villains like Professor Pyg, Anarky, Tobias Whale (who normally goes up against Black Lightning if I'm not mistaken), Phosphorus Rex, Humpty Dumpty, Magpie and Cypher. Both Anarky and Professor Pyg have appeared in media since but the others not so much, so I hope this new show uses the villains well.
I'm not a fan of this common narrative that Batman is the 'real' persona, and Bruce is the 'mask'. Personally, I view the 'mask' as being both public images of Batman and Bruce; and the real person is both Bruce and Batman when he's alone or with people he trusts (Alfred Pennyworth, Richard Grayson, Lesley Thompkins, etc.). I think 'private' Bruce/Batman is something wholey different.
I swear I remember an interview with Bruce Timm listing the Joker as one of the characters that will be reimagined, so to me that means he's probably going to appear later on in the show whether that be several seasons away. Either that or he just made it up
That seems to be the implication. The scarred side is basically Harvey's niggling conscious finally pushed to the front in a way that he can't ignore it anymore.

Firebug is a surprise but I can imagine him being merged with Firefly, so it's obscure but not totally out of complete nowhere. But Gentleman Ghost DEFINITELY wasn't on my bingo card, let alone Nocturna (Natalia Knight). Very interesting. Is Gentleman Ghost going to be an actual ghost? Who knows what the implications are. And I'll be happy to see the Joker or not - I love him, but he's been done to death too. But I can't help wondering if he'll be revealed later on.
Please don't be too hard on the new voice of Batman he has to follow the legendary performance of Kevin Conroy which is a very tough job that would put a lot of pressure on anyone.
This could be going the way of "My Adventures With Superman", honestly. Pay attention to any side characters who get a bit more attention than side characters should during the run of what might be a first season. Even IF no Joker is named yet, that's not to say that one of those side characters might not become him if it goes to another season, like Alex "Lex" Luthor. Got plenty of exposure, kept popping up, your mind keeps telling you he's just a background character at first, yet it was clear they were going somewhere with it. I forsee the typical bald Lex eventually in that series, and God willing, Batman will have a Joker.
I think this is very likely. We might see major Batman villains before they become villains in season 1 . So we might see Edward Nygma, Jonathan Crane, Pamela Isley etc. before they become supervillains in later seasons. I think it's likely we might see the pre-Joker as Well, either as the Red Hood or a seemingly random character. It would be cool if the show introduced multiple characters w who are likely candidates to become the Joker in later seasons. And they keep the audience guessing about who will become the Joker. A lowranking mobster, a comedian, a worker in a chemical factory, a thief who disguises himself with a red hood,...

Personally, I'm kind of tired of the whole "Bruce Wayne is the mask" take on Batman. We've seen it 8 million times already, I just think it's a bit cliche at this point because it's usually how Batman is played. I think I'd like to see a Bruce who likes being a jovial, good natured Bruce, but who has cultivated a talent for suppressing his anger and trauma because he knows as soon as he puts the mask on that's when he gets to vent. Like the mask is a focus for him, being Batman would be medicinal for this Bruce.
It seems like the trend of characters is about how they grow to become more than the masks they wear. Harley wants to be more than her vengeful urges. Harvey learns to break away from being the greedy lawyer. And hopefully Bruce realizes he doesn't HAVE to be a dark, tortured soul to be Gotham's savior. Meanwhile you have Clayface, who embraces his mask and suffers for it.

Just as I'm finishing up Midnight Mass, I see the news that Linklater is playing the Batman. I'm excited to see how he handles the dual roles of Bruce and Batman, especially after seeing him in Midnight Mass (which he is fantastic in an all around great horror show). On a sidenote, I'm excited to see Jamie as Harley. It's cool seeing her pop up every now and again.

I have to say that the Emotionally scarred Batman has been played to death by now. I think it's time togo back to a healthier Batman, like they had in the 1970s, by Dennis O'Neil and others from that time. More of a detective and less of a "crazy ninja" Batman, as John Byrne once described him.
I heard Linklater’s voice, and tbh, I’d have never guessed he took inspiration from Conroy’s Batman, he sounds more like Keanu Reeves’ John Wick than Batman, sounds like he’s constipated. To me, there’s only one guy who can replace Conroy’s Batman, and dare I say, surpass him, and that’s Jeremy Sisto, listen to his voice in JL The New Frontier, it’s basically the perfect Batman voice. I don’t have biases towards Conroy, cause I grew up listening the native voice of BTAS’ Batman. And while I think Conroy is great, the second best, still doesn’t compare to Sisto’s voice imo.
So I can assume you've never seen Marvel's Legion or The New Adventures Of Old Christine since you don't recognize Hamish's work. Julia Louise Dreyfus and Clark Gregg stared along side him. Dude has a rare talent for comedy and drama. Yeah I'm a fan of his work.

Oh good another version of Batman who is a grumpy loner who eventually grows and matures. How original. While I do not care for Vigilante Quinn, I am interested to see her interactions with Renee. Speaking of whom, I really hope Renee gets a major role in Caped Crusader and is not just a bland love interest for Harley. Casting Diedrich Bader as Dent is a great choice. However I am tired of the "realistic" portrayal of Harvey's disfigurement. I prefer the more grotesque but cartoon style look. Similar to his appearance from TAS. I can't wait to see Gentlemen Ghost debut. So far this series gets more exciting every day, but I really hope future DC cartoons focus less on Batman and put the spotlight on other heroes like The Flash or Jonah Hex.
The one thing about Harleen Quinzel being driven mad by some of her clients being some of the worst people … Psychiatrists get therapy. Really, they do. Because yes the clients will dump all kinds of crap on them and they need someone they can talk to about it, someone who understands, someone who can kind of offer a second opinion. No, a psychiatrist would not name her clients in therapy, but she might say "I have a client who does X" … it might be possible to work out who a person is talking about, but they won't name names or confirm if asked. There's also a fair bit of hypotheticals and details changed to protect privilege of the guilty.

The original firebug was named Joseph Rigger, a former army demolitions man who lost his family in a building collapse and decided to commit arson about it- to get rid of the clearly unsafe buildings. There was also the second Firebug- a supervillain groupie of sorts named Harlan Combs who was an unrepentant sadist and thrillseeker- Mr. Rigger wound up aiding in his capture after originally selling the suit and name to Combs.

I like your videos because you're cheerful and when you're negative, you're objective and explain why rather than saying it's rubbish or blaming woke culture (which I've always found weird since comics are ironically one of the most progressive media). A little trivia - I remember seeing an old IG post on Christina Ricci's page with her wearing the Michelle Pfeiffer Catwoman mask. She must be a big fan.
6:12 Not trying to be controversial or anything, but in real history, in the time Caped Crusader is set (1940’s) psychology was a brand new thing and not really respected by the medical community, people in the lgbtq+ community were considered to have mental illnesses, and Asian-American racism was at a high point after Pearl Harbor. So with that being said, I’m really curious how Harley became a licensed psychiatrist.
I don't think that the sexuality of the psychiatrist was necessarily an issue back then - I remember reading that the actor Montgomery Clift had an openly homosexual therapist in the 1950s - but I have a feeling they're going to sidestep the socially acceptable bigotry of the era. I could be wrong though!
I honestly really dislike the Joker so I wouldn't be mad if he didn't appear (not an objective fact just my personal opinion, I think he's too nasty in a non entertaining way) I absolutely love what they've done with Harley Quinn though so far
I totally agree. I have grown to really dislike The Joker and would be happy to see him just not used in the show. Give other villains a chance to be the big bad for once!

Alfred didn’t really become Bruce’s father figure till about the 70s and 80s but this is more golden age and not silver age

I'm not a fan of this common narrative that Batman is the 'real' persona, and Bruce is the 'mask'.
Personally, I view the 'mask' as being both public images of Batman and Bruce; and the real person is both Bruce and Batman when he's alone or with people he trusts (Alfred Pennyworth, Richard Grayson, Lesley Thompkins, etc.). I think 'private' Bruce/Batman is something wholey different.
I swear I remember an interview with Bruce Timm listing the Joker as one of the characters that will be reimagined, so to me that means he's probably going to appear later on in the show whether that be several seasons away. Either that or he just made it up
Hamish is such an interesting choice... he doesn't usually act with a deep voice and I'm genuinely intrigued about his take on the character

That seems to be the implication. The scarred side is basically Harvey's niggling conscious finally pushed to the front in a way that he can't ignore it anymore.

Firebug is a surprise but I can imagine him being merged with Firefly, so it's obscure but not totally out of complete nowhere. But Gentleman Ghost DEFINITELY wasn't on my bingo card, let alone Nocturna (Natalia Knight). Very interesting.
Is Gentleman Ghost going to be an actual ghost? Who knows what the implications are. And I'll be happy to see the Joker or not - I love him, but he's been done to death too. But I can't help wondering if he'll be revealed later on.

This could be going the way of "My Adventures With Superman", honestly. Pay attention to any side characters who get a bit more attention than side characters should during the run of what might be a first season. Even IF no Joker is named yet, that's not to say that one of those side characters might not become him if it goes to another season, like Alex "Lex" Luthor. Got plenty of exposure, kept popping up, your mind keeps telling you he's just a background character at first, yet it was clear they were going somewhere with it. I forsee the typical bald Lex eventually in that series, and God willing, Batman will have a Joker.

I think this is very likely. We might see major Batman villains before they become villains in season 1 . So we might see Edward Nygma, Jonathan Crane, Pamela Isley etc. before they become supervillains in later seasons. I think it's likely we might see the pre-Joker as Well, either as the Red Hood or a seemingly random character. It would be cool if the show introduced multiple characters w who are likely candidates to become the Joker in later seasons. And they keep the audience guessing about who will become the Joker. A lowranking mobster, a comedian, a worker in a chemical factory, a thief who disguises himself with a red hood,...

Well this isn’t the first time that the Joker didn’t appear in a Batman franchise like the 1940’s Batman serials that no one talks about and of course that short lived Batman cartoon Beware the Batman which Anarky seems like a stand-in for the Joker and also this Harley Quinn reminds me of Echo from Gotham tv series.

Personally, I'm kind of tired of the whole "Bruce Wayne is the mask" take on Batman. We've seen it 8 million times already, I just think it's a bit cliche at this point because it's usually how Batman is played. I think I'd like to see a Bruce who likes being a jovial, good natured Bruce, but who has cultivated a talent for suppressing his anger and trauma because he knows as soon as he puts the mask on that's when he gets to vent. Like the mask is a focus for him, being Batman would be medicinal for this Bruce.
It seems like the trend of characters is about how they grow to become more than the masks they wear. Harley wants to be more than her vengeful urges. Harvey learns to break away from being the greedy lawyer. And hopefully Bruce realizes he doesn't HAVE to be a dark, tortured soul to be Gotham's savior. Meanwhile you have Clayface, who embraces his mask and suffers for it.

Just as I'm finishing up Midnight Mass, I see the news that Linklater is playing the Batman. I'm excited to see how he handles the dual roles of Bruce and Batman, especially after seeing him in Midnight Mass (which he is fantastic in an all around great horror show).
On a sidenote, I'm excited to see Jamie as Harley. It's cool seeing her pop up every now and again.

I heard Linklater’s voice, and tbh, I’d have never guessed he took inspiration from Conroy’s Batman, he sounds more like Keanu Reeves’ John Wick than Batman, sounds like he’s constipated.
To me, there’s only one guy who can replace Conroy’s Batman, and dare I say, surpass him, and that’s Jeremy Sisto, listen to his voice in JL The New Frontier, it’s basically the perfect Batman voice.
I don’t have biases towards Conroy, cause I grew up listening the native voice of BTAS’ Batman. And while I think Conroy is great, the second best, still doesn’t compare to Sisto’s voice imo.
So I can assume you've never seen Marvel's Legion or The New Adventures Of Old Christine since you don't recognize Hamish's work. Julia Louise Dreyfus and Clark Gregg stared along side him. Dude has a rare talent for comedy and drama. Yeah I'm a fan of his work.

While I do not care for Vigilante Quinn, I am interested to see her interactions with Renee. Speaking of whom, I really hope Renee gets a major role in Caped Crusader and is not just a bland love interest for Harley.
Casting Diedrich Bader as Dent is a great choice. However I am tired of the "realistic" portrayal of Harvey's disfigurement. I prefer the more grotesque but cartoon style look. Similar to his appearance from TAS.
I can't wait to see Gentlemen Ghost debut.
So far this series gets more exciting every day, but I really hope future DC cartoons focus less on Batman and put the spotlight on other heroes like The Flash or Jonah Hex.

The one thing about Harleen Quinzel being driven mad by some of her clients being some of the worst people … Psychiatrists get therapy. Really, they do. Because yes the clients will dump all kinds of crap on them and they need someone they can talk to about it, someone who understands, someone who can kind of offer a second opinion.
No, a psychiatrist would not name her clients in therapy, but she might say "I have a client who does X" … it might be possible to work out who a person is talking about, but they won't name names or confirm if asked. There's also a fair bit of hypotheticals and details changed to protect privilege of the guilty.
So long as they don’t turn Montoya into The Question …

Nope! The original firebug was named Joseph Rigger, a former army demolitions man who lost his family in a building collapse and decided to commit arson about it- to get rid of the clearly unsafe buildings.
There was also the second Firebug- a supervillain groupie of sorts named Harlan Combs who was an unrepentant sadist and thrillseeker- Mr. Rigger wound up aiding in his capture after originally selling the suit and name to Combs.

6:12 Not trying to be controversial or anything, but in real history, in the time Caped Crusader is set (1940’s) psychology was a brand new thing and not really respected by the medical community,
people in the lgbtq+ community were considered to have mental illnesses, and Asian-American racism was at a high point after Pearl Harbor. So with that being said, I’m really curious how Harley became a licensed psychiatrist.
I don't think that the sexuality of the psychiatrist was necessarily an issue back then - I remember reading that the actor Montgomery Clift had an openly homosexual therapist in the 1950s - but I have a feeling they're going to sidestep the socially acceptable bigotry of the era. I could be wrong though!
