  • We haven't taken a good look at the projections for increased days over 105 as we get ready for 2C. Let me show you what I figured out, and you can look for yourself here:
    atlas.globalchange.gov/#explo...
Open the explorer, and from in the explorer, choose the "open map" button towards the bottom of the screen.

I wish there was more of this sort of dedication to accuracy and data-driven investigation out there. Keep up the great work! We really get a lot out of your content.

It’s the fault of whoever decided the labeling of those maps. So many problems happen in society because people who are good at math and statistics are bad at presenting information! Those labels should have been something like “95.1-100°”, “100.1°-105°”, and so on. Thank you Dr Emily for all your hard work to break all of this down for us.

Thanks for the clarification. As you continue to delve into expected heat changes, it'd be great to get into wet bulb temps as well. It seems those may be particularly relevant along the Gulf Coast and East Coast.

As an Arizona resident, THANK you for sharing this! I will be here April 18 for the next AZ update!

What a great catch on that important nuance! And yikes. Tough seeing those areas in ultra red. Phew.

Thank you Emily this is very very important information that people need to have if living in these areas especially in the next 10- 30 years and 2-3 degree rise in temp..So glad I found this channel today..Subscribed!!🎉🎉

Just stumbled on this. Glad you're covering it as it doesn't seem the warnings and action is there.

great highlighting og the global problem that we have had for 30 years, that a 2 C world misrepresents the problem. People look at 2C and think, so what. If they knew what it meant in the terms you have highlighted, it may have much more impact. Not just heat days, but rain/flooding/drought. If people knew what would happen on a local level they may put more presssure on the politicians

Tucson, Arizona is in Pima county. (

What about wet bulb temps in Houston? The desert southwest isn’t the only issue. The southeast etc were having high temps and high humidity

I live in the dark red spot in the SW. Last summer I scraped a pool in the peak 120F with a long sleeve and jeans, even slept outside for those months. I drink pickle juice to survive. My grandma drank black coffee and salt in the summers lol. Y'all are yuppies lol come outside and actually work.
