Thanks very much for this video. My son switched his HP Victus laptop off during an update and i couldn't get it to load past the V page. Tried a couple of things on here and the resetting it to a past date worked. All good now. If it wasn't for this I'd have been forced to pay a repair shop God knows how much. Thanks.
Thank you for your assistance. The issue has been resolved. I modified the system configuration by changing the storage device from a hard disk drive (HDD) to a solid-state drive (SSD), which effectively addressed the problem.
Thank you...mine is an older desktop...tried a few things you said but nothing worked even after I changed the boot process. I ended up choosing 'reset to default' it now seems to be working. Gonna save everything I can to an external hard drive and reload factory settings. Thanks again 👍
Thanks a lot! 3 mins into the video and solved the problem. Turns out my boot priority changed from the SSD to the Harddisk that's why it didn't start. 👏
Thank you sooooo much!!!!!!! I am one of the lucky ones...followed your advice and unplugged the mouse, restarted and tadaaaaaa for the first time in months my HP laptop started within seconds!! Thank You!!!! Katja from the Netherlands

Hello thank you for your help and support 🎉I have watched several of your videos and tried to repair my HP notebook myself. I have not had any success😢I really do not want to restart my laptop because I didn’t backup my files😢 my business plan and other family memories are on there but the problem that I am experiencing is when my computer starts up, it will go to the desktop screen, and from there it blinks to a black screen. I cannot access any of my files, nor push, the start menu when I push the start button the cruiser just spins I can get on the Internet, but I cannot open up any other files. I was trying to update my computer and it told me that my computer was not healthy enough so I did a reset but I chose to keep my files after I did that reset the computer has not been the same.
If the reset didnt help, I would back up the DATA you dont want to lose and then reset again, this time choosing the 'erase everything' option or a new install of Windows. Also, did anything happen before this issue appeared? Liquid spill, overheating, Windows update, etc?
@@PC_Monkey Hello thank you for responding!!! I’m am not computer savvy therefore I don’t know how to back it up. Is there a way to transfer my data? I continue to troubleshoot using your methods, So I took out everything that was plugged into it, the mouse adapter I had a SD card inside, and I even took the hard drive off the back. Now that I have done that the system try to boot up but it appears to be stuck. I don’t think I’m explaining quite well.😩🤷🏽♀️ what I’m trying to say the system will try to boot up normally and then it will freeze and go back to that black screen. I am going to send a video.

Hello, I did the BIOS update but now I have a screen telling me the following product information programmed into the system board is missing or invalid all under system board: product name, product configuration, product serial number, product number, product family and system board CT number…is it the operating system that is junk since it passed all system tests?
Thank you so much for this video, this helped after I searched hours for a solution, read multiple official microsoft help forums and watched several videos. I thought it was a lost cause, but I followed your instructions and my laptop started up in seconds! Will be returning whenever I freak out over my laptop having silly little issues. The product name for my laptop is an HP laptop 15-dw0xxx. For some reason, when I turn on my laptop, there's a blue and white screen and it has a lot of numbers and letters. Then there is a rectangle and inside the rectangle it says "save changes and exit? " and on the bottom of the rectangle it says yes or no. And there's this terrible beeping noise when I turn on the computer. I'm very worried and I don't know what to do. Thank you so much, my dad got me this computer when I was 9 and I am 11 now. I deeply appreciate it!
Sounds like your on the correct video. Have you tried the steps seen here? Also, did anything happen before this issue appeared? Liquid spill, overheating, Windows update, etc?
Hello. So here’s a new twist on the restart problem: When “Restarting” (not power up rebooting, but the “Restart” option) my HP All in One shows the “Restarting” screen normally, then the screen goes completely blank and will stay that way indefinitely. So after much trial and error, I have found that to get the machine back to life , holding the power button down thereby forcing a power down, and then unplugging the power cord and plugging it back in, will allow a normal power up reboot. Obviously, I would rather not be doing Restarts this way! Any ideas?
For me I accidentally shut off my hp compute while it was resetting, I believe that might've interrupted it so now when I try to turn it on it gets stuck in a boot loop and I don't know what to do with it now. I also tried the steps you showed here, the results said it passed the HDD test, memory check and startup check, but it still stuck in the loop

@GiveandGain01 1. I assume this happens at startup? Can you see anything on the screen during this? 2. Also, did anything happen before this issue appeared? Liquid spill, overheating, Windows update, etc?
Can you please help me with mine? I have an HP Envy X360 convertible and it was working and all I did was replace the internal main power battery pack because it wouldn't hold a charge to stay running more than 30 minutes. It turns out this model has no separate bios backup battery so I may have messed up the bios by disconnecting the battery. What it does is gets past the HP logo then gets stuck on a black screen with a spinning circle, and eventually I get a mouse pointer I can move from the mouse pad but Windows never loads. I let it run for 12 hours the other day to see if it would eventually come up, but it did not. Ctrl-Alt-Del are unresponsive so I can't run task manager. I tried a system restore that said it was successful but didn't help the issue, tried doing a Repair Startup Issues from the recovery menu but it says it wasn't able to fix it. I then tried the "Reset this PC" both with saving and not saving user data and both got a little over 50% then said "undoing changes" and ended in a blue screen that said that it could not be reset. I think the issue may be a time/date problem because the year in the bios says 10/18/7967!. I've reset and saved it in the bios several times but every time I try to boot it up, it reverts back to 7967 and the date is one day ahead of the current day. On 10/15, it said 10/16 etc. In the bios, I also tried the "load default settings" option, tried Legacy boot and Secure boot enabled and disabled in all possible combinations. I tried pulling the main battery back out and started it with no battery installed to see if that was impeding the startup but it does the same thing. I don't know if the bios is corrupted from pulling the battery or if the operating system is corrupted and setting the system to the wrong year. Do they make a bios update or install file that can be done from the command prompt in the recovery menu? As a last resort I'll reformat the hard drive and do a clean install from a bootable USB drive I made with the Windows 10 iso image but then I'd lose my Microsoft Office that came with it. And the case was replaced at Best Buy about a year ago because the hinges broke and they didn't save any of the stickers so I have no serial number or product key. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. I tried everything my IT professional friend and I could think of. Thanks

Hi.Thanks for the informative video.I have a HP Elitebook 9840M.I did a "reseat" of my hard disc and the diagnosis tool. However when I restart the laptop.Am getting the blue screen with an X000..error and when i run the diagnostic again the dst says "Failed" what could be problem and how do I fix it?
If the diagnostic test shows the HDD as not installed or if it fails, that means it may be loose or bad. Try 'Reseating' the HDD first as seen here in this video. Try the diagnostic test again. If it fails to change the scan, I would then replace the HDD and install an Operating System to the new one. If the diagnostic test showed your HDD to be healthy and none of the other fixes helped, you would now try to reinstall the operating system. We added the Samsung 870 EVO SSD to the HP slimline. It had an older bios and was working really great with the new drive, and then we updated the bios. It now is not recognizing the hard drive and won't even take us past the HP logo on startup even if we hit escape or f10. It sounds like HP bios doesn't recognize Samsung hardware and I wonder if you have worked on something like this and know of a way to access the SSD recently installed so that is the one it runs on.
@PC_Monkey Bro can u help me My windows 11 system was running laggy so i tried to install windows 10 after downloading and installing screen it restarted and got stuck on the the loading screen and i forced shut it down however after dozens of dozens of trial i finally booted my pc in windows 11 again but the problem is again happens when shut it down the same problem happens . All of the system hdd memory checks are passed. Any idea how to correct it .(I tried multiple times to install windows 10 using media creation by scratch but all the time the same problem)
Thanks for the help. I've done the F2/Smart Check... it did say "Passed". But when looking at "Short DST" is says Not Available. What does that really mean? Does it really mean it's just not accessing the hard drive at all?
Edit: Okay you answered my question later on in the video, so thanks again for your thorough demonstrations and simple-to-undestand-explanation as to what we're really doing. For the life of me, I cannot physically open the bottom part of my laptop to reseat it and I have a whole bunch of screwdrivers of all sizes. None of them work at all. The local tech guy said it is definitely a hard drive issue and needs to be replaced. Yet I don't want to do that when I'm right in the middle of a project. He needs my laptop even while waiting for that part to be shipped to us here. And so far, I've uploaded most of my most important files on multiple cloud-storage... and I foresee the inevitable re-installing to Windows 10. Thanks for the links as well. I think it's only a quick fix though. My laptop has been giving me this same problem since last year and cannot handle Windows 11. I scanned it first and it stated that it is not able to upgrade to even 11. This issue of "Your computer ran into a problem" has been happening several times now. I am able to continue where I left off after I did the diagnostic and reboot... but still keep running into this same problem. I do hope the majority of others are able to resolve it once and for all.
Yes, sounds like the HDD needs to be replaced. You can also send out the old HDD to a company that does DATA recovery and can usually get DATA off HDDs even if they 'go bad'. Would you like help with the replacement or the DATA recovery?

My HP Elitebook G7 Core i5 will not start. Under normal usage, I left the PC to do an HP update then shut down. Now the laptop gets stuck at HP Sure Start Recovery screen. What happens is the following: 1) Start the PC. 2) Not pressing any button, PC beeps loudly once and then the following message is displayed: HP Sure Start Recovery HP Sure Start detected an unauthorized change to the Secure Boot Keys. The keys were restored automatically and there is no further action required. The repeated occurrence of this problem indicates a security problem that should not be ignored. There are two buttons on the screen, blue "OK" and grey "Esc". 3) Regardless of which button is pressed, the PC screen changes to HP logo and "Protected by HP Sure Start" text, then switches off after cca 5s. 4) After another cca 5s, the PC turns back on and everything starts from point 2 again.

If the Date/Time does not stay correct and changes every time you turn the computer off, thats a sign that BIOS may be losing power and losing its settings. I would try replacing the CMOS battery if that is the case. You can see how to access that component here at 9:10: th-cam.com/video/kOBY4k2Mn_k/w-d-xo.html. If you need help accessing it on your specific computer, please reply with the brand and model.

For over a year it worked great except for the fact that you could not plug two usb devices or else the laptop would shut itself down. When i installed a copy of Windows 10, the laptop was usable again. It would crash everh now and then, but i could at least use it again. My perception is that whenever the laptop "thinks" thats when it crashes. Fast forward to now, i can't even get another copy of Windows 10 installed because it crashes during installation! Its either a crash where everything freezes or the blue screen of death display the error "Whea uncorrectable error". This laptop uses an M.2 ssd, which seems to be the original. I also used the scanner thats built in into the laptop, and it says that there are no problems with the processor, etc. the battery is the one who is around 50% of its life. Can you suggest me a solution? Another important detail is that crashes were frequent for example, when switching from an internet browser tab to the other 'too fast'. I'm trying to be as detailed as possible. Of course, this was before got really really bad. But this is what i meant when i said when "when the laptop thinks".

Just one question last night i did a update and after i turned off my pc and now i have this prob so is there a solution to remove the update that i did with only boot menu ??
1. A desktop wont be any different than a laptop in this troubleshooting process. Have you tried the steps seen here? 2. Also, did anything happen before this issue appeared? Overheating, liquid spill, Windows update, etc?
For a computer that does not turn on, try this video first; th-cam.com/video/kOBY4k2Mn_k/w-d-xo.html. Let me know how that goes :) Also, did anything happen before this issue appeared? Liquid spill, overheating, Windows update, etc?
my pc turns on, shows the logo and then starts loading and flashing black 😭😭 i’ve been trying all day to get it to work and nothing helps. it also says hard drive short dst check failed.
If your Hard Drive fails the diagnostic test, it would then need to be replaced. Let me know if you need help with that. After installing the new one, you would have to install an operating system onto the new one as seen here; Install Windows 10 onto HP computer: th-cam.com/video/p_N_xV7j_Xo/w-d-xo.html Install Windows 11 onto HP computer: th-cam.com/video/90zcX2iUuVI/w-d-xo.html

Hey, i've a HP pavillion 15 gaming laptop, recentyl i started encountering some issues with it, mainly it gets freezed at the startup after showing the hp logo, this is happening alot and theres no exact time when i can tell that the laptop is going to start. i just enter bios do a system check or something and sometimes it gets started. if it starts, i need to keep it in sleep mode, if I accidently restart or shutdown it, problem reoccurs. i've done the extensive check all the components show passed. i opened the laptop cleaned the fans and everything. Still the problem is there. I dont knw how to tackle this, could use some help. Thanks alot.

@@PC_Monkey Thanks for your reply! appreciate it. I've almost backup up all the data, so i may try factory resetting, can i do that through bios setting?? also, there wasn't any spill or anything relatable, but yes i experienced heating issue and regular windows updates used be done, like twice a month maybe, but their wasn't any huge noticeable update,, it was just drivers updates or something
I tried everything in the video without luck. Hard drive and RAM tested fine. There was no option for system repair/restore, so that is actually the only thing I couldn’t try.
When I hit the power button I get the HP logo with the spinning progress indicator below, then it times out and I get he HP logo/spinning whee/“Preparing Automatic Repair” screen. When the Preparing Automatic Repair screen times out is when I see the BSoD with the DRIVER PNP WATCH DOG error

Would having a bad battery in general do this. My computer can’t run without the charger being constantly being plugged in, but my date and time is still right every time and the test says my hard drive is good. So I don’t know what my computers problem is.
If the computer needs the charger plugged in to turn on, then yes, the battery is bad and needs to be replaced. However no, a bad battery would not itself, cause a boot loop in your computer.
I have an HP Envy x360 with this problem. I cant seem to get the cover all the way off.

Now that I have done that the system try to boot up but it appears to be stuck.
If a computer looses power during a reset, many times, the operating system is messed up beyond repair. It would need to be reinstalled;

Thanks

I have an HP Stream 14-ds0013dx that is stuck in its own loop. You turn it on and it shows the HP grey logo, the one that's like a splash screen that's default set to show if it's not manually turned off in the BIOS settings. Then it suddenly turns itself back off and back on like it's just constantly restarting itself. "Stuck in the boot loop". I'm really praying you'll be able to get back to me and help resolve this issue pretty soon. I look forward to your reply....

I have an acer computer that is able to turn on, but will freeze on the starting screen. If I go into bios and press exit without saving, it will sometimes let me use my laptop. When the laptop is in use, it will edventually freeze and the only option is to power off the device. I get stuck in the loop with my computer rarely working.
Can you find any Repair or Recovery options in BIOS? Also, did anything happen before this issue appeared? Liquid spill, overheating, Windows update, etc?
My HP Elitebook G7 Core i5 will not start. Under normal usage, I left the PC to do an HP update then shut down. Now the laptop gets stuck at HP Sure Start Recovery screen. What happens is the following:
1) Start the PC.
2) Not pressing any button, PC beeps loudly once and then the following message is displayed:
HP Sure Start Recovery
HP Sure Start detected an unauthorized change to the Secure Boot Keys.
4) After another cca 5s, the PC turns back on and everything starts from point 2 again.

good morning Jamie i 'm trying everything on my computer following you along but my computer won't corporate when i go to BIOS i fixed the time and saved it then open it again and the time is already different again so i can't figured out help Please
I did a system reset so I could give my old hp laptop to my daughter. It’s doing the reset loop with flickers or updates but then restarts and it did it for hours. I did the esc and all diagnostics came back as passes. I can’t get to the page that would allow me to check time and date. Bios won’t let me update or rollback I keep getting error codes. It says to update on some website but I can’t get to it with my computer not even booting up
Sometimes a reset will fail and then the operating system will be too messed up for another attempt. In that case, you would have to install new instead of resetting;

Hi I have a HP Pavilion dv6000 when I turn it on it just starts beeping and the laptop freezes. And it also turns off automatically when it starts heating up. I want this to have a factory reset. Please help.
Hello, If I am not able to select the diagnostic options of the option, could that be the hardriver? Because the mouse and keyboard arrows aren’t doing anything when I want to run the hardriver test reading or bios setting, the mouse or arrows are not working
If your mouse or keyboard is not working, then no, that usually is not an issue with the HDD. Is your computer frozen? On which screen is it frozen? Can you use an external mouse or keyboard?
@@PC_Monkey the computer froze and I unplugged it from the power source hence the battery is dead and only works when plugged. Hi, I tried to update the Bios via the HP website, (HP ProBook 450 G2 notebook) When the update was in progress. The laptop went blank. I quickly removed the battery.

Hi! Id like to tell you what's going on with mine. I would appreciate any help.
I have a Dell Precision 5510 i bought in marketplace. For over a year it worked great except for the fact that you could not plug two usb devices or else the laptop would shut itself down. Well, for a year it worked, but as time went on the frequency of crashes kept increasing. It went from minimal amount of crashes to a very annoying issue that kept happened all the time.

Thanks for the video, but I am still having an issue. I eventually get the BSoD (Blue Screen of Death) with the error message, “DRIVER PNP WATCHDOG”.
