  • LG G3 & C3 comparison & discussion, looking at the image quality inside and outside of game mode and showcasing exactly what you are losing when game mode is turned on. The purpose of this video is not to bash LG no I just want them to improve this its to raise awareness to the issues that persist with LG OLED TV's game mode since it is often thought of as the best gaming TV and in its current state its absolutely not.

    It’s been months and still no fix, sometimes you have make a very critical video to get results. I still don’t think this will change anything but I want to try and do my part.
    This isn’t intended to bash LG or make you regret buying a g3. It’s intende to show the issues so it gets addressed. I’ve given you the work around, hopefully it works for your setup, but that’s the problem there shouldn’t have to be a work around that only works with certain setups. Game mode should just look good period.
    People will buy LG’s for HGiG and you have to be in game mode for this something I forgot to mention in this video, but what’s the point of HGiG if your colors aren’t as bright as intended and things look desaturated?

      Hopefully they will add the colorboost option to game mode so we can use it with HGIG. There will be an increase in input but if we have a toggle to turn it off and information next to it stating it will increase it by x amount all good. It's always better to have options instead of not having any options.

      @TechWithKG for sure I love it. I just don't see it done often with lg like people are either riding the bandwagon or they are fearful about getting there little benefits cut off. Meaning tvs sent out etc. I know you don't have that deal in place with lg but many do. Sony on the other hand doesn't send many tvs out to people only like 1 or 2 youtubers in total believe it or not. Idk about samsung tbh but yeah it's why we see the biggest one sided takes with lg in the past. So I appreciate seeing this. Heck last year with the c2/g2 I knew of a sim racer who got 3 lg tvs sent to him for free just for a review to keep btw. Crazy right? So yeah most of those people don't say anything bad. So I like very unbiased reviews and outlooks.

    According to another respected calibrator on YT, on the G3 and C3 do FMM + ALLM + DTM: ON to basically achieve the exact same thing as "Game Optimizer" mode, but without loosing the 'pop'/brigthness. Input lag remains the same. According to him the DTM is new and does not mess the colors/brightness/blacks like last year's C2. I'll quote him "Set DTM: On. Forget HGIG..." He goes on to say - still best to set peak HDR luminance in consoles to 4,000 nits, which on the PS5 is +25 clicks, +25 clicks, 0 clicks on the HDR calibration screen.

    I'm in the market for either an oled monitor, or an older tv to use as both as a tv and for pc gaming, and I've read and watched a lot of reviews and comments. I have noticed that many more people complain about Samsung products than those made by LG.
    Some buyers have described returning Samsung tvs and monitors 2, 3, and even 4 times, before finally giving up in disgust on the brand. And some reviewers have mentioned having to return defective review samples.
    Of course, there are others who say that they've had 0 issues with their units, but they seem to be in the minority of the reviews and comments that I've seen or read.
    Btw, I tend to discount sponsored reviews, or reviews in which manufacturers send models to reviewers. Although I understand that buying monitors and tvs can be expensive, I have to wonder, in the case of sponsored reviews, about the integrity of a review in which the reviewer is essentially being compensated for their assessment.
    As for receiving products from the company for review, how do reviewers or audiences know if those products weren't cherry-picked by those companies to ensure a favorable review? It definitely makes me wonder when commenters to a review post problems, and the reviewer respond to not having any of the issues posters report.

    • @TechWithKG
      @TechWithKG  ปีที่แล้ว

      Most reviewers don’t get cherry picked samples and all the reviewers that do call this out I hope, smaller channels like myself have to use their own means to source review units as most companies don’t send out TVs and if they do we tell you.
      What are you leaning towards as your monitor?

    • @Noneya5555
      @Noneya5555 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TechWithKG I was considering either the Samsung Odyssey Oled G8, the S90c (after watching your review, 👍🏾), or the LG C2 42". But I ruled out the G8 because it doesn't have a 3.5mm headphone jack - strange for a monitor with Native streaming apps -, no powered usb ports, and those weird mini and micro inputs. I'm also considering the Alienware AW3423. But the hdr brightness of oled monitors is noticeably less than that of tvs. I've heard that new monitors may be announced as early as next week, but they'll probably be outside my budget. Also, new models tend to have bugs, especially Samsung's, acoording to reviews and comments I've watched and read. Also considering waiting for Black Friday (also per your suggestion in a buying guide video) to see if the LG C3 42" will be discounted. Any suggestions?
      BTW, good to know about review products not being cherry-picked by companies. But how would reviewers know if they've received cherry-picked units, if the manufacturers don't disclose that info?
      Also, I especially like and appreciate your channel because one of the few reviewers who focuses on gaming. I play mostly pc games, at mostly at night in a dark room.

    Lg G3 in vivid mode (which also have the new color booster found in Filmmaker mode but without dimming after few seconds) with the game optimizer ON (VRR + ALLM auto low latency mode) it’s brighter than the S95C and equals the QD color without add negative response time(1.5ms at most) , also the MLA exceed the white bright of any oled in the market right now.

    Now, is this luminance issue affecting the C3 and G3 or older models as well? Is this something LG can fix with a firmware update or is it a WOLED limitation when compared to QD-OLED? I’m just as confused with this video as I was with the HDTV Test review.

    Noticed this in person when I went to look at the G3 in a store near me. It was even more apparent irl than in this video, I tried messing with the settings for like 10 minutes because my initial thought was that there must be some energy saving mode enabled in game mode but all those settings were off already. I was really surprised since sooo many people and reviewers make LG out to be the superior gaming tv manufacturer BY FAR. I notice absolutely zero difference in brightness with game mode enabled on my Sony A80J, and I bet it’s brighter than the G3s game mode without any fancy MLA tech. That’s why my next TV will be a Sony.

    I don't know man. I've been playing video games since the time you had to set your TV to channel 3 and use the antenna game switch box. All that to say I have gamed VERY well before Game Mode was introduced. I'm laughing thinking in the 80's that box in the back of your TV was the only Game Mode you needed lol.
    I currently have a CX, I don't play it in Game Mode and I'm absolutely fine with that. I found it to be boring, I use ALLM which allows me to access other picture profiles. I set it to my taste and go on. No complaints, no noticeable lag. I guess the caveat is that I'm not an FPS player however when I do play COD I'm fine. I guess if you want lightening fast response time, it's probably best just to play on a gaming monitor. 🤷‍♂
    While Game Mode does indeed have its merits, I think its kind of a buzzword like DolbyVision (which also has its merits), It's hyped up as a "This is the only way" type thing, when there are actually other comparable alternatives. Tune your television to your taste and be happy ya know.
    Note: I wrote this before I read your pinned comment KG. I agree you with you, they should fix it if its a problem for users. Hopefully they'll realize it could negatively affect their sales.
