Have a AR with a 20 inch BCA Grendel on it. Sighted in at sub moa 50 yards for a 200 yard dead hold using Hornady Black ELD match factory ammo. With that ammo opening week for TN gun season, got two deer and a coyote. Both deer were at 175 yard and coyote at 30 yards. That ammo is accurate and deadly in my setup even though it is a match bullet. Thanks for the video.
I finally got two boxes of Alexander Arms 129 gr Hornady sst rounds i can’t wait to try em out , thank you for the continued info on this gun i was really worried when i first started messin around with it because so few people have videos with proven info !
Friendly suggestion - Trigger follow-through. When you squeeze the trigger, keep it fully depressed through the entire recoil cycle. An easy check on this is when you release the trigger you should hear the trigger reset occur. Not as huge of an issue when shooting off a sled but will definitely affect accuracy from less stable positions.
I gave up on finding Grandel ammo and handload 129 &130gr. boat tail bullets over accurate arms 2520 powder. I ditched the muzzle brake and put on a sound forward, compensator. at 100 yards my groups shrank to three-quarter inch. just a note if you’re a hand loader.
I have a 20" BCA 6.5 Grndl upper that shoots pretty nicely. I don't think I've ever done better than 1 1/2" at 100, but I use cheap Wolf stuff all the time. It's a range rifle only and I'm happy with it. Got it in 2019 when BCA was really slow. Under 250 bucks shipped, which IMO is a great deal. Those 129 grain bullets were impressive as heck. Really not a terrible group in the bunch given the 16" barrel, IMO. Have a great weekend
Best thing you can do with the Grendel is load your own in my humble opinion. Good video though, I appreciate the variety of options you tried hopefully you find an option that works well for you.😊
I know bca has a horrible name. But I picked up someone’s cheap build at a gun shop. I couldn’t pass up the price. The optic and mount was worth way more than I paid for the firearm. 20 inch bca Grendel upper and an Anderson lower. It’s shooting 1 moa and better with 123 sst hand load and 123 sst hornady custom. I have to say I’m very impressed.
I've been struggling with Hornady black getting 3 inch groups at best. 4 inch or worse with Wolf 90 gr. I will have to try the Anderson if I can find any. 6.5 Grendel is hard to come by these days.
Don't discount the Wolf. My best group with Wolf was a raggedy 1 moa. That's not bad. However, American Eagle 90 gr TNT is one hole capable @ 100 yds. But the Wolf ain't bad, and if you're lucky to cop some OG Wolf Gold brass case with the otmbt bullet, you won't look at Alexander Arms ammo the same, ever...
@@TheDoorspook11c I didn't! I was being serious. The wolf in this caliber is lighter and faster than a lot of what's out there. My grendel loves it. Wolf Gold isn't made by wolf usually, prvi I think, but it's usually awesome stuff too
Late to the party, but I have the same issue with chevon reticles like the many variants of the ACSS. I love the range finding, wind holdoffs and BDC holdovers the incorporate. But, for activities that require repeatable precision, like shooting groups, I have trouble using them. I know it's a personal thing with how I deal with a more "floating" aiming point versus one with crosshairs to help guide and reinforce my aiming.
I have an AR with a 20 inch barrel and switched my birdcage muzzle brake for a sound forward compensator. It shrank my groups down to 3/4 inch at 100 yards.
I have ruger american predator 6.5 Grendel i get about half inch group at 100 yards with 123 grain sst customs and doe i shot with it only ran anout 40ish yards good cailber for deer in my opinion
Maybe you explained this in the past but how do you explain the deviation in grouping between manufacturers? What does one mfg do to improve their consistency over the others?
I can tell you that , Alexander made the 65 Grendel so its a sinch he would make all of the ammo perform better than other factory styled ammo of the same cal , Alexander Arms sst 129ners are Hornady bullets sure but they load in Alexander’s brass , powder and primer so you get way better results than you do if you use Hornady custom or Hornady black so on and so forth 👍🏻👍🏻
That and depending on the rifle. Certain rifles like Certain ammo. The consistency of how much powder that is placed in each individual round is critical as well. There are flaws in all manufacturing processes so one companies machine may trickle a few more or a few less as far as powder weight. There are many other reasons as well but scot is the expert on this one.
You need a suppressor on that rifle. I have an 18" BCA barreled AR that will shoot sub .5" groups with the suppressor on and opens up to about 1" without the suppressor. This is with my reloads shooting 120 gr Speer Gold Dots.

Thats awesome! Congrats. Thanks for watching
Nice work! Any hogs up there?

Absolutely. Something I've struggled with. I'm not a fan of the sleds lol. Thank you for the input. Much appreciated
Thanks. Good video. Nice shooting. Those should do the job veery well. Thanks for sharing. Take care.
Much appreciated. I think I'm using it this deer season. Take care

Much appreciated. You as well
man that barrel is like the 20" BCA grendel barrel I had. after i got 100 rounds thruogh it it tightened up to about 1"

Definitely agree with you on loading my own. Very much appreciated 🙏
The fourth group did very well. I'll have to try them in my 6.5

I haven't had issues with their grendels but have with other calibers. I still am a returning customer. Glad you got a good find.

I try to order from their website but it's usually a minimum of 4 months before I get it.
Thanks for the new vid :) I missed the pt2! You forgot to group the wolf stuff tho ;)
I try to keep it to these 5 but I could probably do a video with at least a few cheaper options 😁.

I put the VG6 6.5 brake on a 18 heavy barrel improved nicely. After watching different video’s and reading comments i think its the bca break
I have an AR with a 20 inch barrel and switched my birdcage muzzle brake for a sound forward compensator. It shrank my groups down to 3/4 inch at 100 yards.
My favorite load for my 6.5 grendel is Federal 90 grain tnt ,but man is it hard to find.
Have you thought about a new barrel?
I have 2 Wilson combats and they ahoot tiny little groups. Use them varmint hunting a lot
Maybe eventually

I have an Anderson 16” upper that shoots sub moa with Hornady 123gr sst

Could it be that the BCA is affecting accuracy, it is a cheap gun leading me to believe heat treating and raw materials aren't great ?
Could be. It's definitely not a "precision " rifle but it got the job done
Looks like you found your load for that rifle. 129gn sst 1/2 moa?
Absolutely
What is Barrel length on this rifle?
18"
Try changing the barrel..

No disagreement there!
Make mine a bolt action
I prefer bolt action as well
