  • Does the Candy Con Controller from GameStop Have Hall Effect Sticks? Well, that's what I'm here to establish in this video. The boxes say nothing. The store says nothing. The employees don't know. Let's take a closer look at GameStop's website and see what it says too.

    The website didn't list it as having hall effect thumbsticks originally. That was added later. I think this batch of controllers is just their soft launch to gauge interest. Hopefully they add it to future packaging. Also, there's rumors that they will be doing collabortations with transformers, marvel, disney, and star wars for customization options.

      That's pretty cool. I hope there's enough interest in these controllers to keep them going.

    Candycon is a gamestop brand. Gamestop owns the patents on the name

    Those are definitely hall effect sticks, same sticks used by Gamesir controllers (albeit custom colors). They are made by K-Silver and the model number is JH16. A lot of unknown brands are already using the same stick, the BSP controllers. I have a bsp controller and took it apart, the sticks have k-silver branding.

    Akchuwally, ha, when they first put the controllers up on the website, it did not have the snippet on Hall Effect sticks. Some Redditers actually took apart the controllers and confirmed they are Hall Effect sticks AND triggers. After GameStop realized that people wanted to know that detail, they after the fact put the info on the website.

    They definitely are hall effect sticks, the triggers are as well. Its been very responsive for PC side scrollers like Rogue Legacy, which is way better than a keyboard/mouse to play.

    I’ve been looking forward to getting this controller for my Switch. The red and blue combination would match my Mario Anniversary edition switch

    Thanks for the update! These controllers are pretty awesome value for what you get and they look so sweet! I think you're right that they underestimated how big a selling point the hall effect sticks are and have added the language on the website as an afterthought. So far is seems GameStop is slow launching the Candy Con (since it isn't even stocked in all of the stores yet), but I'm excited to see what is next. If they release an Xbox version my whole family is getting custom controllers. Nice job with the surprise for your wife!

      Thanks for that. 👍🏻
      She loved the controller too. She loved the colors I chose for her as well. 😄

      I'm sure they will get some xbox and PS5 versions out eventually. Just picked one up for a friend's birthday, who only games on PC.

    That was exactly why i didn't buy one. I specifically wanted hall effect sticks.

    Were you going for a NGE Eva-01 theme on that new controller?

      No. My wife's favorite color is purple and I just thought that out of all the colors they had, the teal looked the best with it.

    Awesome update on it the box probably was made before they decided to add it and they didn’t want to waste money on packaging again but that a problem with it but they can recommend you video on it also if you go back to the instructions on the last page there a company that you can go online before gamestop

    I passed these up because it didn’t say hall effect on the box. The employee had no idea what hall effect even was. I won’t even look at third-party controllers if they are regular.

    Customizable, DECENT controllers may very well save GameStop. I've had 2 Joy Con and an Xbox Series controller start drifting on me in less than a year of owning them and that shit is infuriating, especially with the Xbox one where they don't offer free "don't sue us" repair like Nintendo does. Recently got a PS5 and I am bouncing between trying to use the analog sticks as little as possible and as much as possible so that I can either make them last or wear them out and cash in on my one-year warranty.
    My only known issue with the Candy Con however is that it uses the Nintendo button layout and the face buttons are the one thing that can't be swapped around so it's gonna make PC games feel weird. But holy shit, a PC and Nintendo controller with customizable parts, gyro, and hall effect joysticks for like $50 is an amazing deal, I'm gonna have to hop on this.

    Mine works fine for the Switch and fine for my Windows 10 comp but my W11 ....well dont play hardcore Diablo with it.

      Windows 11 sucks for everything but especially gaming- I've heard it has a tendency to deactivate graphics drivers and revert to the default drivers. Microsoft needs to get their heads out of their collective ass.

    why dont you trust yourself enough to take it apart, its got normal screws and everything is right there, you need to gain some confidence
    and if you're going to say that other people have taken it apart so you won't, can you at least link to them, because you're the first result for "candy con teardown"

    • @RedBandanaGaming
      @RedBandanaGaming  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'll take it apart if that's the case. Might as well. 👍🏻

    • @wilsua
      @wilsua 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RedBandanaGaming There's no need to take it apart, you can already see that there's no potentiometers on the joystick modules.
