So much of the collector community is stuck on G1 and while that certainly has its charm there is so much more to the franchise.
I certainly do like some of the Bayverse designs. Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and The Last Knight's Megatron certainly come to mind but tbh, I think one of the reasons why people like the G1 so much is that the vast cast of characters were not only distinct in design but distinct in character. Beyond the aforementioned Prime, Bumblebee and Megatron, I can't tell the difference between any of the others. They're all just these grey, alien metallic things smashing each other. None of them have any real character beyond the occasionally cringe inducing offensive stereotype.
@@charlestonjew7587 Sure but thats kind of the difference between 2 hour movies and 100ish episodes I suppose. It also doesn't help that Michael Bay is kind of an idiot. There can be something extremely therapeutic about still getting toys as a kid. When I graduated and went into the military, my dad made me burn everything I had owned prior. As an adult and out on my own in a new town, new home, etc later on, just setting aside 25 bucks each month to replace some of those old toys was a wonderful way to reconnect with that lost childhood, and a harmless little hobby to help occupy my time while still building up new social circles and support networks in life. Sometimes the simplest things really can be the best of joys. 😊
What the hell kind of monster was your dad? Did he not know that self storage places exist? Or that he might be depriving you of cherished childhood memories?
@michaelkoukaras7515 Oh he was a piece of work to be sure, broken home and all that, but as to storage places... small rural community, village of only just under 200 people in northern Michigan, back in 2001 before the internet was all that huge... he may very well NOT have known about storage places. Not that he wanted them stored, made it VERY clear he didn't want me bothering him or his new family (had remarried and had another child). So yeah, haven't seen or heard from him since. 20+ years later, can't say I've missed him in the slightest. Lol

I got to buy one of my dream transformers as an adult. I was lucky enough to come across one of the updated versions of Sky Lynx in a shop and I couldn't walk out without it. I probably paid a bit more than it was worth but I didn't care. That thing sat in a place of honor on my shelf for ages
My holy grail from my childhood that I have always wanted was Cybertron ultra class Jetfire. I have that set (but with the bonus Sentinel Prime, which is super cool btw!), and it is so fun to play with. I have a few Cyberverse figs, and I like posing them with the Arc set. It's also worth noting that the guns in the front of the ship come off on 5mm ports, so the spring-launching barrel and the non-firing guns can be held by normal-size transformers too. It's such a fun set and it is one of the coolest things to have as a kid. I'm glad you fulfilled your childhood dreams, it's super heartwarming!
I had lots of fun with this as a kid, especially with how versatile this thing is (a base/ship/medbay/jail). My only complaint is that the mini Optimus with trailer was a bit too big for the set (luckily because of his transformation I was able to shrink him, can’t say the same for megs)
Never had that Ark as well when I was 11, but the closest thing I ever got to playing was through my best friend. That was definitely a once in a lifetime thing for me 😂 Seeing you finally getting that “holy grail” really gave me nostalgia and remember those memories I had with my friend. So happy you finally got it man! I wonder if Hasbro will try making one since they successfully made the G1 ark. 🤔
I’d absolutely kill to see a studio series/Haslab/titan class movie ark. It’s highly unlikely considering how much Hasbro has been ditching the movie toys recently, but I’d pay big dollars for a massive modern version of that
@@papermelon yeah that’s true, Generations figures have been getting the most attention in reveals, and when it comes to the movie stuff it’s like 2-3 at most somehow. Fingers crossed we’d see those ships from the bayverse get made 🤞🏻
This is awesome, I recently went through all my old transformers about a month ago and literally got this one out and sat and had a little play for 5 mins with all of the old cyberverse toys. Was easily a must have for me back then as well! Love the videos man big smiles every time 👍
Around 2004 I picked up The Grand Maximus from RID, which was my white whale. It still sits as the crowning piece of my collection even among modern Titans. It's fun to see a different generation go through that moment where they have the power to buy the toys fate denied them.
My man I recently have been on a TF binge because of ROTB. I forgot how much I loved Transformers. A few days ago I got Roadbuster and Topspin from DOTM among others. The 11 y/o Filipino boy that didn’t have money to buy them is ecstatic! I love the Dinobots and Wreckers! I completed the G1 Dinobots and All I need now is Leadfoot! I feel this on a personal and spiritual level!
As someone with a December Birthday as well, I feel for your pain of losing out on some gifts. And I am so glad you got something you’d wanted as a kid. Maybe someday I’ll get one of the things I wanted as a kid.
I've recently rekindled my love for collecting Marvel and DC stuff. And you are so right. That childlike feeling of amazement you had as a kid is so hard to rekindle. Bringing it back as an adult is such a rare but priceless joy. Well not exactly if you are searching for figures! They get pricey! Great video, subscribed.
@@papermelon I've been meaning to get one or two Transformers figs. But I want one or two huge ones that would scale against my McFarlane DC stuff. Not trying to break the bank and finding something high quality is hard.
Love discovering ToyTube channels. Really like the enthusiasm here for an older toy. Need more channels that look at the positives of the stuff they like rather than just rants. Keep it up!
My childhood dream toy was an Astrotrain that actually looked like a space shuttle in shuttle mode and a steam engine in train mode. I was beside myself to stumble upon TW-06 and more recently, EX-10. I know they get a bad wrap generally, but for me personally my giddiness matches the giddiness on here. You’re absolutely right, it’s nice to be an adult sometimes
I know the feeling. When there was a surge of high-quality remakes of classic Transformers a few years ago, I immediately went and bought Optimus, Bumblebee, Megatron, Soundwave (with all the cassettes) and Shockwave.
Heya, I am a newbie to your channel, I am watching this as a 42 year old and I am smiling from ear to ear to see the new generation of fans grow up and geek out as much as I did when I saw the first toys from my youth. it is such a joy.
Loved your expression at 1:54 I could really gauge that 'childhood innocence' feeling from it. I lack the specifics to even know what one of the my childhood dream toys I never got was called. It had to have been a Unicron Trilogy Unicron toy, I just don't remember what paint deco or even which Unicron Trilogy show it was for, because I grew up with the Bayverse and not the Unicron Trilogy. Nowadays, I'd seek Unicron in the masterpiece aesthetic, so I no longer long for that toy I saw on shelves back then. Still love my legends class ROTF Devastator tho.
I really want another legends focused toy line. Cyberverse was cool because it was a toy line to buy cheap but still pretty cool looking toys and with how modern Legends figures are, a new Cyberverse-esque line would be awesome.
One thing I learned while similarly trying to find these older figures online, was Hasbro hates search key terms. In recent years they have made “Cyberverse” and “Commander class” from THIS toy line way harder to find. Even worse if you’re looking for TF Prime figured because adding “Prime” to any search just pulls up Optimus 😂
Hasbro has like 5 trademarks for shows/toylines/etc and they WILL MILK THEM. Robots in Disguise: Oh, did you mean the tagline for most of the franchise's history, or the 2001 cartoon, or the 2011 larger scale version of the Transformers Prime toyline, or the 2012 comic book, or the 2015 cartoon, or the comic book based on the 2015 cartoon?
I love this so much. I find myself awash with nostalgia. Remembering how that plastic felt. My abuelo bought me this and the jet pack optimus prime from the cyberverse line. I’m so heartbroken that the figures I had in storage during my, “transformers are lame” phase, have gone missing. These reviews that you have made have made my year so much better. Thank you
I'm an Armada kid so I never really saw the appeal of the Cyberverse playsets. Thank you for showing that infectious joy and getting across how every toy is someone's favorite, someone's dream toy.
i never see any dotm legends fans so seeing someone who loves these figures and the cyberverse line as a whole as much as i do makes me really happy love your content man keep it up
I’m getting chills with your reactions. I love your enthusiasm. Im very happy you got the toy from your childhood. It’s great going back and getting the toys you had or wish you had. Im still going through this process and love every minute of it.
I saw the title, and listened to your intro, and I was expecting to see a Transformer from *my* childhood - which was G1 era. Something like a Fortress Maximus, or a Jetfire or something. A sharp reproach hit me and reminded me that my generation is not the only generation anymore that has reached maturity and looks back fondly on a childhood with Transformers in it. :)
Had this as a kid (not to flex) and this was a lovely little trip down memory lane. It feels good to finally get that thing you always longed for as a kid. Awesome video, dude.
The joy on your face as you open and play with this is infectious. Makes me want to pull my one out of storage! These days we're spoiled for choice with Transformers playsets/titan class transformers, but back then, this was IT! Love this video. Might pop mine out for some pictures!
This is the reason I'm buying the ultimate Optimus Prime! I've wanted one since I was 4 and it makes me feel so excited knowing I have a job and I can buy one whenever I have the money to spare.
Dude this is literally the most wholesome video I’ve seen today. Enjoy the ship! I had this as a kid, but one of the little back flappy things came broken.
Wow your super young and your a collector that’s super cool !! Great video .. when that movie came out I was already in my 30s lol I do collect the 80s version of transformers but this new transformer piece you’re showing made me realize some new toys are just as awesome as the old .. great video !!
Hey, I don’t usually leave a lot of comments on videos, but I just had to say that this video really warmed my heart. Seeing someone unbox an old Transformer toy which I once also wanted to get as a kid really brought back a lot of nostalgia. I’m sure this video gave many people some happiness, even for a moment, as they might now be treading through the darker times of life! I just wanted to thank you sir!!! Don’t ever give this up and keep up the good work
6:52 No! I grew up in the 80's. I remember the original Transformers. Life really WAS better back then ... I feel sorry for the children who are growing up now, at a time when the world seems to be getting worse, not better.
Of course things are getting worse in many ways, but better in others. In terms of transformers, they’re not made of metal any more, but they look WAY better and more accurate than yours did. Our generation has never known anything else, so there’s no reason it should impact our happiness and positive life experiences. Somebody from the 50’s would’ve told you that the 80’s was horrible compared to their time. But you were still happy. Why should we be any different just because someone says so?
I'm Tony ans I'm 53yrs Old and I've been a Transformers kid in heart to this day .I have three over 20ys old kids and two grandkids and seeing you with your son playing withthe Transformers toys like I do to this day with my grandkids Thank you .
My moment of glee was getting an original G1 Metroplex, saw one once at a market and my Mar was broke so i missed that one. I had quite a lot, i was lucky, but one always misses the ones that get away. Great video man, don't ever let anybody take this passion away.
"When I was 11, the third Transformers movie, Dark of the Moon, came out". Wow, thanks for making me feel old :) Great video. I'm glad you managed to get one of your "grail" collectables.
I got recommended this video, im not even a big fan of transformer, but seeing you finally getting the toy you wanted since little, did brought a smile to my face, good for you Paper Melon, hope you enjoyed the ship
0:47 LOL SO TRUE. I got back into toy hobbies again because of childhood nostalgia. Literally got an eBay account to get a sealed Legends Devastator figure since I felt too old during that time for toys and missed that opportunity. It definitely haunted me into adulthood since I missed that window. My significant other and I have been revisiting a lot of our childhood things and it’s been a blast
I love this for you. I had so much fun with my kids playing with this Ark and all the Legends figures. We revived OP with Ratchet on the table, locked Decepticons in the jail, flew with Sentinel as pilot and had battles all around. Great memories. Best part of being adult is buying all the cool toys I've ever wanted. Cheers!
Absolutely love this. Reminds me of Armada Unicron is was the toy as a kid that got away. Had a lot of the same feelings towards him when I finally got one.
even though i was born in 96, i was raised on the transformers movie from the 80's and it had some deep core memories to go with it. i also remember being so excited to see live action transformers when the first movie came out in 2007. i was obsessed with the mechanical design of the live action characters and I've always loved the idea of big robots bashing the hell out of each other, so the live action transformers was a dream come true for me. my collection consists of G1 characters from the OG cartoon movie, some assorted figures from the early pre-live action series, and the live action figures, primarily bumblebee. I've been looking around for figures that are cartoon accurate lately and even though those get a little bit on the expensive side, it's nice to be an adult with a full time job and a little bit of disposable income
I still have my Ark playset, and it's currently sitting in my youngest daughter's room, along with all of my Cyberverse collection. She plays with them quite frequently. It's held up surprisingly well, and still gives me so much joy to play with it along with my daughter. Another fun feature of the playset not mentioned is that the guns that store the firing missiles can actually be removed from the ship and placed in other peg holes around the playset.
As an old, crusty G1-er, it's both cool and weird to hear someone talk about DOTM toys like they're hallowed relics, but it's really no different to how I felt collecting G1 toys in the late 90s, before ebay existed. Enjoy your Ark!!
I still have mine in good condition after all these years. Roller has been MIA for a while and the back fins are missing because they just kept falling off, but other wise the set is still in good conditions with no plastic degradation unlike some of my other figures from that time.
Awesome box opening video! My favorite line, and I'm gonna borrow it for the next time someone questions my transformers purchase, is "apparently as an adult you can buy things just because you want to"
Transformers aside this is really well edited. you can tell you've put a lot of time and effort into setting up proper angles/lighting/mic'ing etc, good job, looks very professional
This is probably the most wholesome toy review I've ever seen, and I couldn't help but smile the whole time watching this. I'm no fan of DotM, and only have a few figures from that line that I bought on clearance, but this was a great reminder that Transformers has been around so long and resonated with so many kids in different decades. As someone who grew up excited about getting the newest toys from Beast Wars and Armada, it's so cool seeing people share the same experiences they had in other years with other series of Transformers.
Being a kid of the late 80s and early 90s, the transformers that I always wanted were the combiners, specifically Superion, and for some reason or another, Skylinx (and a little bit of Grimlock). I always enjoyed watching Silverbolt kinda captaining the other aerialbots in the cartoon. About 10 years ago when ThinkGeek was still its own entity I jumped on the opportunity to grab one of the updated aerialbots combiner sets. I'm still just casually looking for the right deal on the updated Skylinx, but my only surviving transformer from childhood is my Optimus Prime that I received for my 5th birthday. He doesn't look like much, but it's a reminder of like what you said, how much simpler things were when we were kids. I also love the fact that our own kids know that it's okay if mom or dad decides to buy toys for ourselves and not necessarily for them. 😄 Thank you for reminding me of these little forgotten things that bring us joy.
I was fortunate enough to get this as a kid - and I still have it! Truly great memories with it, and this scale is still my favourite for Transformers to this day!
Its always fun to get the figures and toys we wanted but couldnt get growing up, or just a grail toy in general. The hasbro haslab Unicron , I still get emotional thinking about how long I wanted something like that and finally have it. But also thanks for making me realize how damn old I am lol, I have bought and sold online at least 10 over the years of the transformer you have and it was what you wanted as a kid. Cherish your years and live life as happily as you can, before you know it, you're in your 40's with body aches and pains
I've gotten to get my hands on toys that I remember being so huge when I was a kid and yeah... they're teeny tiny now. I imagine proportionally toys we thought were huge as kids are probably the size of titan class figures now? We've grown big and the toys are struggling to keep up lmao
You know how great this ship is. I brought it when the movie first came out and all played features IS STILL WORKING. Even now the lighting still works randomly somehow 🤔
I can understand that feeling. I finally purchased Optimus primal from 1999, when I was 17. I couldn’t stop there, so I purchased all of the Optimus primal‘s that I could. Love it
I'm GenX, and was among the first generation of fans. I love seeing younger people find as much joy in Transformers as I did, and still do. It's also great seeing you share this with your brother.
It genuinely feels good to do this. I always wanted G1 Soundwave when I was a kid (yeah I'm old) but as much as my folks tried to track it down for me, for some reason it was the one TF I wanted that they could never find. Fast-forward 20 years and I bought myself one on Ebay. It felt so good to have it finally. Of course a few months later they came out with the masterpiece version so I bought that too and that was even better :)
This was pure joy to watch and I'm so happy for you! And that you share the fun with everyone. I've recently gotten back into lego, and while financially I regret it, I'm having a blast XD
I know it looks like I misspelled “squeeks”, but I didn’t lol. That’s really how I spelled it back in the day when referring to the little guys, so it’s canon for me now 😂

Haha there’s a constant battle between my inner child and outer adult when I see some of these eBay prices 😬😬
I want both of those sooooo bad
I know the feeling. When there was a surge of high-quality remakes of classic Transformers a few years ago, I immediately went and bought Optimus, Bumblebee, Megatron, Soundwave (with all the cassettes) and Shockwave.
0:12 make sure to refrigerate the arc
the smiles of joy, man. love seeing us young adults healing our inner child.
Super happy for you, dude! Keep up the great work, your content is so chill and super well made!
So nice to say, thanks man!
Heya, I am a newbie to your channel, I am watching this as a 42 year old and I am smiling from ear to ear to see the new generation of fans grow up and geek out as much as I did when I saw the first toys from my youth. it is such a joy.
Loved your expression at 1:54
I could really gauge that 'childhood innocence' feeling from it.
Haha so true. Also trying to search for the original trilogy toys just brings up an onslaught of the new studio series versions 😂😂
You know you can put a “minus” sign in front of the search term, right? You have to search like this: Transformers Prime -Optimus
@@VAULT-TEC_INC. Thank you, that’s really helpful 🙂
@@VAULT-TEC_INC. genuinely solid tip, always forget this exists
Thank you
This is what core class is missing
your reactions and the way you feel about it, brought me right back to whenever i buy a old figure from my childhood
When I was young, I had this toy, and I gave it to a donation.
I FORGET ABOUT THE LITTLE TRANSFORMERS WITH THE SHIP !
Woah !
I'm an Armada kid so I never really saw the appeal of the Cyberverse playsets. Thank you for showing that infectious joy and getting across how every toy is someone's favorite, someone's dream toy.
This is the transformers fandom in its purest form. The sheer joy from the experience is abundantly clear.
i never see any dotm legends fans so seeing someone who loves these figures and the cyberverse line as a whole as much as i do makes me really happy love your content man keep it up
Am I supposed to believe the decepticon you put in prison was black merely by coincidence?
💀💀
This video made me feel better. Most of my childhood wasnt great and seeing you and ur brother just, playing around... was nice
Mine would randomly go off in the closet.... nightmare fuel
i'm so happy for you, really, i know what it's like to do this, and it's great!
did wheel jack stay in peru
I’m getting chills with your reactions. I love your enthusiasm. Im very happy you got the toy from your childhood. It’s great going back and getting the toys you had or wish you had. Im still going through this process and love every minute of it.
I saw the title, and listened to your intro, and I was expecting to see a Transformer from *my* childhood - which was G1 era. Something like a Fortress Maximus, or a Jetfire or something. A sharp reproach hit me and reminded me that my generation is not the only generation anymore that has reached maturity and looks back fondly on a childhood with Transformers in it. :)
As another Old timer I had the same reaction. Thought it was going to be Omega Supreme. I bet he and his brother would have loved Micromasters.
Had this as a kid (not to flex) and this was a lovely little trip down memory lane. It feels good to finally get that thing you always longed for as a kid. Awesome video, dude.
This was simply nice. I’m happy you shared the moment.
Honestly really enjoyed the video, you touched great points thanks for sharing!
Wasn’t expecting that solid life advice at the end. That hit the feels
Im very sorry to say that growing up i had this toy. I loved transformers so i played with it often. It did not survive a year.
Don’t ever give this up and keep up the good work
I got this as a birthday present back in the day, still have it
There's something charming and genuine about this I can relate
Dude the world is getting rapidly worse it's insane..
At least TF One was pretty good
I'm Tony ans I'm 53yrs Old and I've been a Transformers kid in heart to this day .I have three over 20ys old kids and two grandkids and seeing you with your son playing withthe Transformers toys like I do to this day with my grandkids Thank you .
Wow, thanks for making me feel old :)
Great video.
The TF holy grail from my childhood was the original Fortress Maximus. This seems much more attainable at least.
never was a transformers kid, but your smile at 2:20 pretty much sums up how precious this was to your childhood
Excellently put together video! A fun watch. I love your genuine happiness! The toy is really cool too!
Oh god I remember having this as a kid, and I loved the absolute shit out of it.
even though i was born in 96, i was raised on the transformers movie from the 80's and it had some deep core memories to go with it. i also remember being so excited to see live action transformers when the first movie came out in 2007. i was obsessed with the mechanical design of the live action characters and I've always loved the idea of big robots bashing the hell out of each other, so the live action transformers was a dream come true for me.
my collection consists of G1 characters from the OG cartoon movie, some assorted figures from the early pre-live action series, and the live action figures, primarily bumblebee.
Dark of the Moon came out 13 years ago, and I was an adult still. I am too old...
As an old, crusty G1-er, it's both cool and weird to hear someone talk about DOTM toys like they're hallowed relics, but it's really no different to how I felt collecting G1 toys in the late 90s, before ebay existed.
Enjoy your Ark!!
Im really happy for you on this One. I just pulled mines out of storage and showed it off to some friends. Im so glad I bought it all those years ago.
I still have mine in good condition after all these years. Roller has been MIA for a while and the back fins are missing because they just kept falling off, but other wise the set is still in good conditions with no plastic degradation unlike some of my other figures from that time.
Buying the playsets you couldn't get hold of as a kid is exactly what adulthood should be about.
Heh, modern Micromasters. Would've loved this as a kid =)
Seeing you're genuine smile made me very happy. Never stop making content.
I genuinely expected this Ark to be titan class sized 😭😭 we were such tiny people
You know how great this ship is. I brought it when the movie first came out and all played features IS STILL WORKING. Even now the lighting still works randomly somehow 🤔
This set is Nostalgic. I bought it when I was in highschool during Toys R Us christmas sale. Its worth $10 back then and it was worth it!
Well you made me buy it, and it arrived today and wow yeah you are completely right. It was amazing reliving my childhood. Thank you 😂
It genuinely feels good to do this.
