According to Gamestop's website, these controllers are hall effect, BUT nowhere on the box or on an signage in-store did it state it. Most people will have no clue if it's true or not. I had no clue, nor am I for certain either. Without tearing it down, I won't make the claim that they are without the product clearly stating it on the packaging.
The triggers are also hall effect. There are pics of this controller opened up, and have been verified as having those fancy joysticks, and the triggers use hall effect sensors too. Furthermore, GameStop was being forward thinking and green minded designing this controller; the battery is plugged into the board instead of soldered to it, meaning its user serviceable and makes less e-waste. Only two controllers on the market, at this price point, are using hall effect sticks currently. However, there is only ONE controller, using hall effect sensors at this price point, AND features factory hotswappable customization.
I really do love what they have done with this controller over all. I'm really happy with it and the one I got for my wife made her really happy too. She loved the color combo I chose for her.
Most people are saying it, but if you walk into the store and buy off the display, like I did, there's no way to tell. That's a big detractor not putting it on the box. People will pass up on it at the store because of that.
Yes!!! You are my savior with this review. Awesome job as always! Looks like so much fun to customize, I can't wait. So happy to hear the controller is actually quality- so much better than the joke of a controller you reviewed from them before. Going to place my order online now. Interestingly it does note online that the joysticks are hall effect! Very surprising they wouldn't list that on the box as a major selling point. You might want to look into that and verify? Too bad about the button placement on bottom, but it does make for a cleaner look with all the customization (and I wonder if in the future they will have other faceplate options with graphics around that middle section). Thanks again my dude, you are the unquestioned #1 game controller reviewer on TH-cam!
Glad I could help. 😁👍🏻 I honestly liked this controller a lot. I kinda want to get one to tear it down and see if it has hall effect sticks. Nowhere on the box did it say it and I didn't see it on the listing on Gamestop's website or on in-store signage. Maybe they will update it. If these truly are hall effect, this is a top tier controller for the price and features.
@@RedBandanaGaming On GameStop's website listing for the Wireless Base Controller it has a bullet point that says: "HALL EFFECT THUMB GRIPS as Standard: Hall effect joystick adopts magnetic induction principle, close to 0 wear and tear under normal use, effectively prolonging the life of the joystick. Drift resistant, 5 million service life. High smoothness paired with joystick algorithm." You might need to just find out for yourself, though. A tear down video would be so cool to see!
They have it in their product description now on their website. It actually uses the K-Silver JH16 hall effect modules which went on the market April 2023. A lot of ppl consider it to be the best hall effect module currently being sold
Around min 3:50, you mention the controller is not hall effect. These are advertised as being hall effect controllers on the gamestop website. I bought a few of these. I love them. I like the idea of customizing the controller.

Thank you for this video! I've been interested in possibly picking up a new controller for my Switch. I'm also hoping for a future Candy Con Xbox model 🤞

Nowhere on the box or in store does it list it. People who walk in and buy it, most people, will have no clue if they're hall effect. That's a big gaff on the manufacturers part. Without taking it apart, I'm still not 100% it is. It's why I haven't changed anything. Gamestop's website has been known to put up wrong information before. I'll make a change to the description or pinned comment after I take it apart and find out for myself.
I stumbled upon then when i got a pre-order bonus for a face plate for epic mickey. I bought a separate blue and a grave digger face plate combo pack. I finally remembered to try it and so far it's the best dango controller eva. I hope this turns into the next 'wavebird' controller
They all have hall effect sticks. This is the original box that didn't list it. I was told by a gamestop employee that the company didn't originally list it on the boxes or marketing due to not knowing it was that important to the consumer base.
I may end up getting this because I ended up getting a free face plate for the controller because I pre-ordered Epic Mickey for the switch... So I'd like to get the base controller a couple of joypads and Sticks and at least another face plates so that I'm not necessarily playing with that 1 all the time
When I got this controller it worked perfectly but for some reason at a certain time of use it has the feeling to move one detection and no other ways, and I can tell it’s not drift. If anyone has a way to fix my problem please do tell me

Love the shape of the controller and the variety of faceplates.
As do I. 👍🏻
I own one of the pre built ones and an extra faceplate. It’s a very nice controller and they are indeed Hall effect

question, does the controller have bonafide analog triggers and if so would they allow proper throttle control when driving in-game?
If so that would be a definite must buy! I'm already interested just because of the XBOX Series style Dpad and customization.
For some reason whenever I'm playing on my steam deck I press the back buttons on the candy con and it freaks out
Mine has very bad input lag and random disconnects. I exchanged it , but I am having the same exact problem.
