Nah, the 5-star chef deserved to die. He could prepare 5-star rations, but couldn't be bothered to cook them. You had to go to that one Pooyan mission to roast the rations on a spit, despite your S-ranked private kitchen.
Few months after release, we come to accept that TPP was less than what we hoped for and even lesser 3 years after. One heavily neutered cash grab lacking even the features from GZ such as hugging terrain rather than simply sliding off as if they were greased, the lack of infinite CQC chaining which was then limited to 4, no longer being able to use guards for luring during CQC restraint.

@Alvin Nguyen I know, bro. It seems very unlikely but I’m holding out a sliver of hope that he manages to reclaim the IP from Konami somehow. Maybe with enough fan pressure they’d be willing to sell it to him (no company gives anything away for free).

From the one-shot glory, to Snake fighting furiously against the XOF, to the hellish fires of MSF's mother base crashing down, to Miller's memetic "THEY PLAYED US LIKE A DAMNED FIDDLE!" outburst perfectly summing up the feelings of Peace Walker players at this point, to Paz's death, and finally the Medic, aka. Venom Snake, sneakily saving Snake from the explosion and framed away from the player to set up the twist ending of Phantom Pain and sending him on the path to eventually being killed by a sneaky boi with a rocket launcher (Solid Snake). It's so well choreographed, shot and atmospheric that it makes you forget the main experience was two hours long. Solid V: Ground Zeroes really did bring new definition to the term "short, but sweet". EDIT: Also, the music playing is Harry Gregson-Williams' last contribution to the series as Solid V: The Phantom Pain is composed by Ludwig Forssell instead. Talk about a game of lasts...

Btw those who played ground zeroe at this specific scene did anyone hold the controller getting ready to take action in this battle and ended up finding out that it was just a cut scene. Fucking KOJIMA PLAYED US ALL LIKE A FUCKING DAMMNE FIDDLE
Its crazy how the world and the perspective works. When Ground Zeroes came out we lamented that it was to short and that the cut scenes were to short etc and after The Phantom Pain was relese it ended been the 2 best cutscenes in the entire MGSV experience along with the ONLY time in the MGSV experience that we play as he "real" Big Boss.
Is Kojima a fan of the Alien movies? The part where Paz falls out of the chopper feels like a reference to the ending of Alien 3. Ripley had an alien queen inside her ready to burst out of her chest, Paz had a bomb inside her ready to blow up, both of them had a buzzcut, they owned a cat, and the way they were positioned when they both intentionally fell back off their platforms right when they died mid-air. If that's not enough, Snake yells "NOOOOOOOOOO" when she fell out the chopper just like the real Bishop did to Ripey in Alien 3. Both Bishop and Snake had a double.
Armando Loaeza Maybe it is. Kojima is a major cinephile and often takes inspiration from movies he's seen into his work. Even Big Boss is based off the main character from the movie "Escape from New York"
Zombiepeppy I was aware of that part where he was based off of Pliskin from Escape From New York. They made Solid Snake look like him in MGS2 and named after him. I heard the Snake Pliskin actor Kurt Russell was asked to be the voice of Big Boss for MGS3 Snake Eater.
Tobidecai reminds of 24 Jack Bauer since that is the voice of Kiefer Sutherland from that famous action tv show. Kiefer did an amazing job playing as old boss as in Naked Snake in MGS5 of the two games of Ground Zero and The Phantom Pain.
After looking at comment sections and on the Internet, I seem to be the only one who thinks the twist involving this scene and Venom Snake was actually really well done and cool
y'know I'm not sure why people are surprised by it, you guys do know that in MGS 4 and MG 2 it didn't show Big Boss with a piece of...shrapnel lodged in his head and him having a bionic arm, was I really the only one not surprised by that?
+WorkGalaxy47 In Guns of the Patriot, they mention how the Patriots reconstructed his body after Solid killed him in MG2. The removal of the shrapnel and new arm would've been possible had it been really him. Still though, I love the twist. People can say what they will
TheSalute3397 oh yeah, forgot about that but I still remember that image of Big Boss in MG2 (not MGS2) and it didn't show him with the piece of shrapnel, sure it was a small screen but you could see the whole face and not see a piece of shrapnel lodged in his forehead!
Imagine being one of those troops on the ground, fighting a desperate and losing battle only to see Big Boss show up, guns blazing. Even though most of them died, they must have died happy, seeing the Big Boss one last time. Man fuck Huey for doing this
I don't know if anyone will go through these comments after many years of this being uploaded and most secrets being theorized and explored but I wanted to come out to say the helicopter crash never happened. Quick points being that the post-GZ menu is an injured snake smoking during the daytime, with no medic in sight, in TPP, no tapes explicitly mention a collision occurring, bringing into question of what happened to chico, even in the paz and truth ending flashbacks, there's no explicit collision, only flashes to white, and the MAIN POINT that got me believing that there was no crash, is the short clip of the same injured snake from the post-GZ menu, looking out the helicopter in shock. This was in the 2012 phantom pain trailer, which if it was only that, that could be easy to dismiss however the scene appears again in TPP after you rescue kaz and he recollects the events of ground zeroes. Unfortunately we may never get a definitive answer, as no one knows what's really behind disarmament and Konami could care less about fixing bugs or adding whatever they were going to add out of spite towards kojima and his team. I'm hoping someone with relevancy can make a video pointing it out, if not, I was building a script and may record footage when I have more time later in the summer. If anyone has free cam on ground zeroes, it'd be nice if you're able to roam around the ending scene and make your interpretations known!
+Eng.zeezo Watching this ending made me realize how Ground Zeroes' narrative and cut-scenes are far superior than TPP ones, and how much dialogue this game has compared to TPP.
When I played GZ I only finished Peace Walker MINUTES ago and man this this feel wrong, so wrong, I even tried to think as an MSF soldier that got lucky and got in the chopper, seeing all my friends die and my home being destroyed, not to mention that in the real world, my 50 hours of Peace Walker now rest in the bottom of the ocean
So played this in 2017, V was my first Metal Gear game ever (bad idea, the bomb removal traumatized me). To say I needed a good long break after was understatement of the year for me. Had to put the controller down and go for a walk.
When I saw this ending years ago, my eyes literally drop a tear. Damn all we did to build motherbase, MSF gone like that. Just being a player you were able to feel that, imagine being in their situation if they were real persons. Damn, what they did to PAZ, Chico and to all your men at motherbase, 300 of your men wiped out. :(
I mean it was technically all for nothing regardless, you know by the end, you have to destroy everything you built up as Solid Snake in 1995/1996 during Operation Intrude N313 and later go on to beat the REAL Big Boss in Zanzibar
I was sad seeing Mother Base all destroyed and seeing all the MSF soldiers getting killed. All that hard work I put into building her during Peace Walker.
Never played an MSG game in my life but it occurs to me if that guy doesn't freak out on the kid, the kid doesn't wake up and jump out of the copter, giving Snake just enough capacity to survive, if I remember rightly from my fave video game TH-cam channels that talk about this series?
+Eagle_66 I suppose playing Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes is pointless as well. Given that Venom Snake creates Outer Heaven and ends up getting completely butchered by Solid Snake in 1999. You play the games for the memories, for the stories, for the music, for the character, for Peace Walker.
This whole cutscene is basically The state of mgs franchise right now. Kojima built the franchise and raised it like his child only for it to be taken away
One of my favorite parts about this is when you listen to the tapes of Kaz meeting Snake for the first time, he was a bumbling commander who had no idea what he was doing and in this, he's actually on the front lines with his soldiers and he's busting ass.

Btw those who played ground zeroe at this specific scene did anyone hold the controller getting ready to take action in this battle and ended up finding out that it was just a cut scene. Fucking KOJIMA PLAYED US ALL LIKE A FUCKING DAMMNE FIDDLE
i had the controller down, this game is known for long dialog/cutscenes. i did however expect a play at the end
I'm really hoping Kojima decided will feature the assault on Mother Base as some sort of tutorial in The Phantom Pain.
PSTRIPPLEE
I was ready to start shooting at the XOF but ended up getting played like a Fiddle
I felt useless in this cutscene cause I felt attached to MotherBase
NO... not my motherbase in Peace Walker dammit.. This bring tears to my eyes as I spend a lot of time building it in Peace Walker.. sht..
That NOOOOOO!!! Is always touching man
Tobidecai reminds of 24 Jack Bauer since that is the voice of Kiefer Sutherland from that famous action tv show.
Kiefer did an amazing job playing as old boss as in Naked Snake in MGS5 of the two games of Ground Zero and The Phantom Pain.
This was the continuation and the ending from the Metal Gear Peacewalkers ☮️ PSP Game. Nice but sad ending.
2:29 - 2:58
Oh the chills
That warcry though
Ya know...it takes a special kind of evil to plant a bomb in a lady's stomach...then her womb...If you guys get to Skullface...REALLY tear his ass up.
After looking at comment sections and on the Internet, I seem to be the only one who thinks the twist involving this scene and Venom Snake was actually really well done and cool
I liked it, prople hate it because they can't play as the ,,real" Big Boss
+RoxasDB People didn’t like it because it looked like the game was based on the loss of sanity for big boss but ended up being for some random soldier
y'know I'm not sure why people are surprised by it, you guys do know that in MGS 4 and MG 2 it didn't show Big Boss with a piece of...shrapnel lodged in his head and him having a bionic arm, was I really the only one not surprised by that?
+WorkGalaxy47 In Guns of the Patriot, they mention how the Patriots reconstructed his body after Solid killed him in MG2. The removal of the shrapnel and new arm would've been possible had it been really him. Still though, I love the twist. People can say what they will
TheSalute3397 oh yeah, forgot about that but I still remember that image of Big Boss in MG2 (not MGS2) and it didn't show him with the piece of shrapnel, sure it was a small screen but you could see the whole face and not see a piece of shrapnel lodged in his forehead!
I dont know but i love so much this part 1:15 Big boss in action So epic!
Imagine being one of those troops on the ground, fighting a desperate and losing battle only to see Big Boss show up, guns blazing. Even though most of them died, they must have died happy, seeing the Big Boss one last time.
Man fuck Huey for doing this
"Incoming!!"
*Entering Reflex Mode*
It's 2020... This game came out 2014... DID ANYONE ELSE NOTICE THE "MSF SOLDIER" That helped put Kaz on the chopper mysteriously @ 2:33?
I can't believe Eugene Pringle went through all this on his flight from Moscow to Saint Petersburg.
Am I the only one who thinks that Mother Base scene could have had atleast SOME gameplay?
No, you are not the only one, it would be epic with that music and the soldiers falling down near to Big Boss.
good ol Kojima,
Yeah maybe at least a quick time event or something
5:33 Even though I beat Phantom Pain and seen all the cut content, I still feel like I've been left on that cliffhanger.
When you watch this video after finishing phantom pain...
2:43 He shielded Big Boss :)) What a Lad
So played this in 2017, V was my first Metal Gear game ever (bad idea, the bomb removal traumatized me). To say I needed a good long break after was understatement of the year for me. Had to put the controller down and go for a walk.
Those fill-ins at the end give me the chills. Both because I'm pissed and also because of how ominous it is.
All that hard work I put into building her during Peace Walker.
r.I.P to all the men and women I totally did not steal in PW with futlon airlifts.
Venom actually jumps infront of Big Boss here as well! Very cool detail!
Why can't i stop watching this?
Forti9x9 BEcause of the feelz and the OST
They played you like a damn fiddle
To be honest, I am here after I've heard of Prigozhin's plane crush. Truly, Kojima is a god. No Simpsons can compare.
HUAH! THEY PLAYED US LIKE A DAMN PRINGLE
People who never played Peace walker will never understand how it pains to see the motherbase Destruction.^^
3 people were played like a damn fiddle
make that 5
So this was the last time we actually played as the original snake?.
Yep
10 years later it still hurts to see all the Peace Walker soldiers die in front of Snake
So that medic who got in front of snake (slightly) got facial reconstruction to look like snake later? And become venom snake
Wait, if Mother Base was destroyed what happen to Paz's cat :'(
Dead...
I think they mention somewhere that Nuke survived but I could be wrong
Rip nuke
poor nuke, man.
This Cutscene is so awesome! Expected more from the Phantom Pain...
That Medic That GOD DAMN MEDIC I SOMETIMES WONDER HOW DID THE MEDIC GET SO SKILLED TO BE VENOM SNAKE
Hypnotherapy and combat medics also had field weapons training
This game's soundtrack is fantastic. Shame Harry Gregson Williams didn't score Phantom Pain.
With how much big boss cares about what's going on to his base and men it's surprising he still abandons it all to a double ganger to do the revenging
4:15 I love how big medic is trying to hide his own face so there is no definitive big medic look.
Who's medic, wait nevermind,.I need to find out myself I'm gonna play the other metal gear games
@@wisdomcat he is the venom snake
Never played an MSG game in my life but it occurs to me if that guy doesn't freak out on the kid, the kid doesn't wake up and jump out of the copter, giving Snake just enough capacity to survive, if I remember rightly from my fave video game TH-cam channels that talk about this series?
Most of these casuals will never know what it was like to build up your Mother Base in Peace Walker and have it all taken from you.
Replaying PW now is pointless when you know for a fact that it's going to sink in the deep ocean anyway.
I guess you're right never thought of it that way thanks :)
Ziemia there's no point in enjoying life when good moments end
Bullshit.
This ending was quite hard to watch especially the bit where they were taking the bomb out of Paz
