Funny, my Rouge fell 7ft from a shelf, hit my desk, then the floor and it’s still intact. Not a crack or stress mark anywhere.
"Complete accident waiting to happen." We watch your videos to see if you'll break the figure or not. That's one of the things that makes your videos interesting. I'm sure I saw someone mention about how they set-up bets on whether you'll break the TF figure or not.
so I picked this figure up for myself for my birthday the other day, as a treat, and honestly I'm really really happy with her. I admit she has her faults but honestly I think she's absolutely fantastic and I'm happy with her. Respect your position though, I understand what makes her off putting but for me despite her imperfections she, as a whole, really nails it. Especially pleased with the die-cast parts.

Wow! Up to the point that you put them side by side you started to have me thinking maybe I do want to buy this after all ... but next to Rouge ... just looking at the faces ... it's like Rouge is a serious collectors piece and the official is a joke. It just looks like a little kids toy despite all that cool engineering and all those individually nice elements (hip and leg sculpt, paint, butterfly shoulders etc.) that seem great but fail to sum to a whole greater than those parts.
IMO Arcee is a design for a character that was difficult from day one, look at the canceled G1 figure, that thing is... nothing good about it really, but still, that was the 80's, but such a unique design coming from a character as shapely as her is never easy, and while others may think others do it well, I just don't see anyway to do a solid robot mode for Arcee with no sacrifices like many want without making her just a figure that doesn't transform or just change the G1 design to make it work, and that isn't the case yet
I am RARELY impressed by MP since it is synonymous with ideal or perfect and they rarely are but this Arcee is REEEAALLY using the word Mastetpiece pretty damned fast and loose, I think lol.
It is too expensive and it uses too much of the T-30 mold. The only difference on this one that her chest sunk too down. Lol
Plus I wish there was a G1 head for Big firebird's Nicee/Arcee.

Ok, so they did it, they made a G1 Masterpiece Arcee and Generations Arcee that looks like the classic character. Can we now scrap that design so we can have something decent with the transformation and toys?

Agree with mostly everything you said (I am a proud owner of MMC Azalea), but I consider the shape of FEET more hateful than the backpack's size, actually. They look like flat irons to me.

Looking at the latest mp seeker, it seem the torso can't swivel around.
The MMC Arcee is great. I really like how she fits in my shelf. And her height doesn't bother me as much as it does others. She's as tall as the MP-28 hotrod and that's good enough for me. And she looks clean and proportionate.
Not switching my FT Rouge for this one I just transform my figures one time for my photo archive and display them in robot mode (except for the Dinobots that I got two sets of Gigas to display in both modes). The rest stay in robot mode forever. And I agree with Bobby. FansToys Rogue looks more aesthetically pleasing. And that's what really matters to me. The only reason I would get this Takara versión Is to put her in extreme action poses for more dynamic photos. But... that chest piece kills it for me.

Fantastic video! Thanks for the in-depth review. Kinda sad to hear there won't be a vs for arcees but I understand why. And the aesthetics are certainly super subjective. To that end I leave you with a bit of a meme.

A better ambidextrous gun option might be a 90 degree piece on a pin running vertically through the handle. Give the plastic clearance to turn 90 degrees so it can be for either hand. There. Where's my money, TT?
I remember when this was first revealed at a toy show, everyone was just certain that the chest was mis-transformed. Then the official promo pics came out and the chest was still like that and once again fans were convinced that the photographer for Takara had it transformed incorrectly. I knew better. What’s really sad is that I’ve already seen pics of someone on FB who has modded that chest piece to shit higher and not sacrifice articulation or transformation. So why oh why can’t Takara figure this shit out? Get em outta here!
I think Takara's designer A-team was on vacation with all the money made from MP-44's profits when MP Arcee was cobbled together on the drawing board.
The one thing TT really nailed it in robot mode is the leg curve, but it's not worth it to buy a $150 figure just for the legs.

Good morning, as always, you definitely show the “fun” when talking Transformers! It’s always nice to see your reviews. I don’t disagree with you on the vehicle mode. It does look good, but no one can seem to clean up the underside. And the overall look of this seems very off putting for me. I’m glad I went with FT Rouge. I think they made a more premium version for the price. This TT is almost $30 more than the FT version and while the articulation seems to be there, they definitely missed some of the looks that made Arcee a wanted character by the fans. The lower part of the car mode shell should have had a joint somewhere to be removable, to give the option of a cleaner backpack. I feel weird talking about her chest, but yeah it needs to be fixed. Just stretch the top up a bit. I wonder how easily it can be removed. Third party chest augmentation?

I've seen some people get her into some amazing poses online. The Spider-man ones are insane.
I love this. Behind Megatron (Beast Wars & G1 Masterpiece) Tigatron and good old Grimlock, this hits every spot I want it to, no matter how much hate this gets. Does it have issues? Hell, yes. The faces are kinda pointless; floppy toes; body sculpt could be improved; there are some horrifically fragile parts....BUT compared to other MPs - Bumblebee (II) Hound & Sunstreaker (overpriced, fragile, too complex), Optimus Prime (it's 400 f'n pounds and it's a goddamn toy. Just no.) et al. the vehicle mode couldn't be any better. TT haven't added 8,000 pointless (but very expensive) accessories. It poses beautifully. 0 kibble. I'm also writing this 24 hours after one of the collapsing side panels which Bob said were fragile (dude's right!!!) broke right off because the hinge had no give. Lifetime design, my arse. I've been looking at the third party efforts for years, and they ain't right. Not even close. This is a TakaraTomy Masterpiece, its Arcee, its great. They can do better, but I still love it.

A third party company will make a replacement chest for this and then it'll be quite good. The most direct comparison would be the Ratchet/Ironhide mold. Once you get the hip flap modification done to those, they're fantastic. Of course, this shouldn't HAVE to be the case...but we do what we must as collectors sometimes. I haven't even got into a full movie cast display yet, but when I do...she'll probably be the one. The sculp, chest aside, is still fantastic.
Even if Shadow Fisher (or some other company) does exactly that. Does TT still deserve your money with how they just mailed it in with this figure?

Even though Azalea get a lot of hate because she's stylized, But Azalea seems to be better overall than even the official version. Plus Azalea doesn't have the sloppy laziness of a backpack either.
Saw pictures and thought I may pass, saw your initial thoughts and thought probably pass. Watched this and definitely will pass and never look back.

It is almost exactly like T-30 Arcee. The only difference that her chest on the T-30 version doesn't sag down. I think the wheel effect thing is from the original movie. She used it on one of the junkions at the chase scene on the planet of junk.
Yes he said so in the review. What he wonders was if it protruded from the front part of the car, or from the wheel hub. My guess is on the latter, but honestly i dont really care because i think the entire idea is stupid, but thatsmy opinion
The headsculpt that everyone seems so impressed with is right from T30 Arcee too. About as much retooling as ER Seekers from Classics. I'm fine with that tactic on my 20-30$ toys, but I expect more from an MP.

People need to realize you are takin' a sports car and convertin' it into a robot that shape like a Barbie doll, I don't think their will ever be a perfect Arcee.

If it wasn't for the chest and the fact that I have 4 other Arcees in the house, I'd strongly think of getting this.
On an unrelated note, was it just me, or did it sound like Bobby was talking into a tin can the whole time?
My hope is that their new Skids MP will signal a change in direction (again) for the MP line, back to a hybrid style and (fingers crossed) better materials.

I could see a 3rd party making a fix for the chest area. To me that is what is really killing the look of the figure. The backpack doesn't bother me at all. I don't display my figures backwards! LOL great vid
After seeing the scale and the transformation
, I'm curious to see this againt the oversized KO of their legends scaled Arcee.
I have almost every transforming G1-esque Arcee, licensed and official, and I agree the vehicle mode is probably the best. Also I like the curvier legs they went with, makes them more visually interesting. The transformation is a bit less intimidating than FT's - in fact, that is almost exactly the transformation scheme from the original Legends Arcee with some extra bells and whistles added on. If it ain't broke I suppose. But of course the biggest problem there is the rear of the car. They did okay I guess, but FT's is cleaner (say what you want about the transformation, the mass shifting on that thing is black magic).
I really have to deduct marks for the chest and head though. The chest is obvious, it looks mistransformed, I don't know how it made it out of testing. The front piece needs to fold out to cover more of the torso, or just give her a fake chest (tee hee). Also they went with the narrow triangular face style like Toyworld's Leia. I'm sure she looked like that sometimes but FT's rounded face is much better looking to me.
If you ask me FT is still the only game in town if you want a true MP Arcee. Sure it feels like it might break in transformation but it looks the part in both modes, and has the best robot mode which is the most important one. MMC's is nice but doesn't feel as premium, the aesthetic isn't quite as good and its scale is off (I suppose that's subjective, she's about the size of Hound but FT's is the size of Kup). And Toyworld... ahahahaha.
This is Arcee though, we have to grade on a curve because clearly the animators in the film never intended to make a robot that could feasibly transform in the real world. Had there been a G1 Arcee toy it would've looked almost nothing like her. IIRC the toy concept wasn't even the right colour lol.
Maybe someone will mod the Takara's chest (and hopefully, head) and it'll be in the running. Fingers crossed.

no avoiding the backpack, so its fine by me. I do wish she had two of the silver pistols. Over all I didn't find the transformation to scary. est alt mode for sure. Side by side with the FT there are bits I like for both.

I like mine, but my waist and left arm are pretty loose. Her backpack makes her lean back on mine. Still pretty good overall.
Somewhere between the three options the perfect Arcee exist. If only you could combine best aspects of them.
I've said similar things about the various Springer options.

My only gripe with MP Arcee is the chest. I have no idea why they thought that was okay for the chest, but I say that to say this....lol, I knew we would see people who would find a way to "fix" Arcee's chest. I am not sure how you feel about modding or altering the actual engineering to make it better? After seeing the fix on that figure and how it looks and not having to sacrifice anything else, I am looking forward to this figure more now. The alt mode is always important to me and glad to see they nailed that part of it. I know this was on loan to you so I wasn't sure if it was included, I don't remember you showing off the red visor gimmick they included with this figure. I watched your video a couple of times to make sure I didn't miss it. I know FT Rouge had that little gimmick as well, so I was surprised. I assume at some point you will make a VS. between FT and TT? Maybe even a threeway...lol am I right...between MMC, FT, and TT. I was thinking they didn't paint the pink gun because it goes in the holster and they figure why paint it if it's going to get scrapped off anyway because of that? IDK just a guess? As always I love watching your videos and look forward to seeing you next.

TT's gone from looks good from the front but a mess from the back to looks bad all round, but the alt mode is great with this one. I've got rouge for my arcee and the medic repaint for the mmc one, between them I've got everything I need. This is way too compromised for me to ever consider.
Idk, I think the starscream and hound look really great in both modes. I definitely see what you mean with bumblebee and arcee though.

Why the kid gloves during transformation? I can have her transformed in under 2 minutes. Someone challenged me to speed transform her as they thought she was a pain to transform. I timed myself doing it. After you transform her for the first time and see where everything goes, it is a simple process. The hardest part is the windshield. My personal ranking of the three MP (style) Arcees, and yes, I have all three, are: Fanstoys > MP > MMC. Take the head from the MP and put it on the Fanstoys = best Arcee.

It would not have been good, but the lesser quality plastic could at least be "justified" if it had kept the price the same. Lowering the quality AND raising the price is completely unacceptable.
Someone jurryrigged Rouge's chest onto their MP Arcee, not only did it look better, but he said (I have to take his word on it) it did not significantly affect articulation or prevent alt mode from working.
Skully is the only transformers reviewer that I watch.
