- Here is 10 guitar riff played on a keytar. A keytar is a mix between keyboard and guitar. And it is the mobility on stage that represent the guitar part of the name. Not necessary the sound :-) This is not a "show off" video, just me having some fun with my key tar. I play these songs out almost every weekend, and people are going crazy - Not because I am a great guitar player, but I am the "Entertainer". So dear guitar players... Dont kill me :-)

It's an instrument and you also need to learn how to play it, any instrument in the hands of a clumsy person is a piece of plastic

Yeah the static parts of the sound are fairly near perfect. But the expression elements are still a bit limited I guess because the keytar doesn't have as many "inputs"

@@GlennMainMusic It was meant so! Check out this guy. He was the first keyboard player playing electric guitars sounds that really inspired me. I even attempted to make a song where I programmed keys to play lead guitar sounds instead of recording them with guitar but at the end I still recorded the song with guitars... I couldn't get the keys to sounds so crunchy and awesome as this guy is able to : th-cam.com/users/MattGuillory unfortunatelly he deleted lots of just brilliant videos he had on the page, but there's still some goodies there
This is why children of bodom was such a cool band. They had 2 lead guitarist and a key guy that just shredded together. Keytar is a fun machine

Keytars are so underrated. To me I see them on equal to a regular Synthesizer. I wonder why more artist don't use these instruments. The only musical artist I know that is mainstream who uses a keytar is Lady Gaga due to the fact she loves the 80's
That dude from Muse sometimes plays a keytar live, but he usually does pads or chords, not like a keytar solo which would be better

really? Herbie Hancock has been using them regularly since the 80s. George Duke and Chick Corea too. Among others.
Ghost has two keytar players. They're wonderful at it, even going on a keytar solo in Mummy Dust

@@dited358 - I think that most people concider this as a 80's "thing" - But for me the 80's never died.. :-) I love to be able to move around on stage, and to interact more with the audience. So I have no idea why this instrument is not so much used :-)

I recently bought a Sonogenic SHS-500 as a birthday present to myself. It's my first keytar and I absolutely love it! Keytars don't just look cool, you also look cool playing it! I'll eventually upgrade when I'm ready, but this is my starter to the keytar world and I'm excited to use it outside of just practicing!
(I produce more than live playing instruments)

😂 I have dug that song since the old days, and always wanted to play it like Iron Maiden did… so this is my best shot 😂 It’s a song that really deserves a REAL guitar , but one of my favourite riffs… so I just had to do it 🤘😃🤘

Really nice. Great playing and vocals too. Was on the fence vs the Edge, but you gave me hope that one can get nice results from the Lucina.
Thank you :) I have them both, and I find the Lucina very easy to bring along on flights and tours.. but the Edge is a bit more “powerful” in the way that you can program it like a synth.. and more control over effects.. but that being said.. the Lucina is sooo nice 😃😃😃

Self Control was originally recorded by Raf (Rafaele Riefoli) in Italy. But yes, the Laura Branigan version is what most people know.

I own 15 keytar models from the 80s to now and sometimes i plug my guitar effect on my keytar to add some extra distortion and more metal side to my solos !

Great choices :) I think my favourite is the one I’m using in this video.. but mostly because of the inboard sounds and size of the unit. Perfect for flying 😃
I also have the KORG keratoses you mentioned , but I use them more for electronic synthwave gigs :) My first Keytar was a black KORG 😃😃😃

That was awesome... I've got an old Korg Karma with the best guitar sounds I've heard yet.. I know it's not a Keytar, but I was wondering if you've heard the Karma before. I know it's got the same engine as the Triton, but I had a Triton and I don't remember having that sound it

the Lucina is such a nice Keytar it is not bulky or heavy you could play a full concert on this :D another nice thing to use is the Yamaha Reface DX it has a keytar kit it is so cool as a Keytar :)

I am having lots of different key tars, but for this video I used my Roland Lucina AX-09
I love this model because of the sounds and the size of it. Very lightwaith and easy to bring on gigs. I use Line6 Wireless (mono) and spread the sound with reverb and delay from the mixer :-)
I have to ask. What is the keytar with the red keys? It looks awesome!

I am a big fan of the “Roland” keytars.
It all depends on what sounds you’re after. The Roland has lots of great synth sounds, and on the Roland Cloud you can download a lot as well. And not to forget that you can dump sounds from the Zenology 😃😃😃 I’m not saying the KORG is a vac choice.. it’s all a matter of personal taste 😃😃

The guitar sound is just an original patch inside the Keytar itself. And the rest of the backings I made using various plugins and hardware :)

Oh yes :) And I discovered that after this recording. Because at first I thought the AX EDGE didn’t have it.. but it had … so yes … you get the same sound… and as a bonus you can program the effects and the sound itself as well… so the edge is PERFECT 😃😃
