If Drumeo has teached me anything from watching the different drummers, it is to appreciate the talents and professionalism of these drummers. Greg Bissonette was so impressive, he created something so different yet so good in his own way. Really liked it. Nice personality as well. Nice find.
john dolmayan is a super underrated drummer imo. his rhythmic hooks its what makes SOAD song so memorable. well done to gregg as well for interpreting this style so well!
It's so fascinating how Gregg interpreted the flow of the song in a more chill way, and it honestly worked really well. It also made me realize how insane Toxicity's general structure actually is. And Gregg himself is just a joy to experience, on top of all that! What a guy!
Gregg is an absolute treasure. Seasoned veteran, played and still plays with the who is who of the music world, amazing energy, great feeling for songs... Fucking nailed this one with his unmatched energy. I love it! His version of the intro/chorus has so much weight and feels so damn heavy.
I think that's the first time I've seen a guest drummer chart out the drums on paper like that, so amazing to see his lifetime of experience and, systems to get down? Too cool. Loved it!
My wife and I had the good fortune to see Gregg perform live as part of The Cream of Clapton Band about 6 weeks ago. Forget about Gregg's drumming skills which are second to none, he's one of the most incredible entertainers. We had a smile on our faces the entire show watching him. Talk about uplifting, inspiring, and infectious! Gregg's got that in spades. He brings a lot of good to the world between his talent and his attitude. One of a kind.
I didn't know him or of him but man, what a chaotic yet beautifully gentle and intelligent soul he is! To even know him, study under him, and to watch his master class at explaining SOAD was an absolute honor and gift. "Nazdrowįe" indeed to you sir, you're the breath of fresh air we all need on this rollercoaster we call life.
At this point, I've come to consider Drumeo as THE central place for drumming fanatics (and non drummer music lovers too to be honest), on TH-cam! Would love to see more and more big name drummers come onto the show, if not, just for this segment alone. Gregg has got chaotic good energy, and I thoroughly enjoyed his take on the song!
I think the coolest part of this is how each take he does something different and manages to capture another aspect/section of the song perfectly, each time. It's awesome to hear so much musical creativity bubbling forth, and at 65? PHEW 😮💨
Toxicity is the song that made me fall in love with drums. I can't even imagine listening to a drumless version of this song because to me, the drums make this song what it is more than it does to any other song I know.
This guy's energy is insane. He clearly loves what he does. Its always so lovely to see. Also being impressed by the original and lovely words of it. Great guy.
This shows a genius perspective of SOAD drummer. Greg hitting 2+4 are great in the verse, but somewhere in the songwriting process of the band the SOAD drummer fills around 'Disorder' vocals etc... made it to 'hook' status like the opening guitar lick to 'sweet child of mine' . Nice.
It's incredible the way our mind, at first, tries to deny the drum lines because of the extensive times we've heard it; and then, we realize his creativity.
14:16 🤯 when he pulled out the Tomas Haake “Bleed” kick part… whattttt? I’ve heard this dudes name for years but I’ve never seen him play. This was so cool. Smiles the whole time and killer drum grooves.
@@markusorth5450 I think he just used double pedals live, just like all the drummers who covered it, but he may have used some tricks in the studio to make it bigger.

I REALLY hope the man didn’t learn to play that whole song just in case Drumeo threw that one at him lmao
@@frightenedsoul Gregg is the Herta master. He could probably play Bleed if he wanted to.
@@frightenedsoul Silver lining: it's probably good exercise in both the physical and musical senses.
If in doubt, play Bleed
That double bass in the chorus @9:16 really changes the feel of that section and I love it!
really accentuates Serj vocal dinamics
Agree sounds so sick
I don't think I stopped smiling for a second watching this, his energy and charisma is infectious!
This is what more people need to realize. Being a working musician isn’t just about being a great, reliable performer; it’s about being someone people want to work with, someone people want to take on tour for months or even years at a time.
Gregg is acting like its his first day playing drums on Christmas day and I dont know how long he has done it (decades I imagine) but its is so wonderful to see the passion and excitement
this guy is every drummer put into one
Underrated comment. Gregg is KNOWN for being able to play basically any style at studio-level quality.
Greggs positive attitude is so incredible. And I love how he's explaining everything he's doing so others can understand. Truly a great human being!
Caught him with his ninth red bull of the day at the end there
🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤙🏼
If Drumeo has teached me anything from watching the different drummers, it is to appreciate the talents and professionalism of these drummers. Greg Bissonette was so impressive, he created something so different yet so good in his own way. Really liked it. Nice personality as well. Nice find.
We absolutely need a 'Drumeo out of context' video, Gregg has so many golden clips
I'm only 3:30 into the video and I'm exhausted watching Gregg. Love his energy.
I read this comment exactly at 3:30 and I agree 😂
I've wanted a SOAD ep and when it finally comes the show is STOLEN by the contagious energy of Gregg Bissonette - what a legend!
His energy is thru the roof! My man is definitely a showman!
john dolmayan is a super underrated drummer imo. his rhythmic hooks its what makes SOAD song so memorable. well done to gregg as well for interpreting this style so well!
Gregg is national treasure - boundless enthusiasm and humility from one of the most versatile, experienced and well-educated musicians on the planet.
Dude. EXACTLY me and my thoughts. Couldn't agree more. And I too fell in love with drums thanks to Toxicity.
Samesies.
He has the energy of a toddler! I love it. Please bring him back 👏 👏 👏
This guy's energy is insane.
Nice.
His shirt choice says it all about him… kid at heart, creating, having fun. Love it. ✌️❤️
I know nothing about drums but seeing what he drew up on that paper makes me pretty sure he's a genius
I like how he plays the verse but the iconic drum roll is hard to get over
The only drum videos I watch on the internet and I am a non musician. Let’s get a million more of these videos!
Greg is a legend, and so is Drumeo for making these series! Absolutely love Greg's take on this one! Thanks for awesome work Drumeo team!
It's incredible the way our mind, at first, tries to deny the drum lines because of the extensive times we've heard it; and then, we realize his creativity.
I’ve never seen such joy and confidence in the process as with Bissonnette. What a pro.
14:16 🤯 when he pulled out the Tomas Haake “Bleed” kick part… whattttt? I’ve heard this dudes name for years but I’ve never seen him play.
This was so cool. Smiles the whole time and killer drum grooves.
I thought it was the intro of Hot for Teacher from Van Halen lol
@@MrSculaxo Don't know if it's true but I always heard Alex had double beaters per pedal for that song.
@@markusorth5450 I think he just used double pedals live, just like all the drummers who covered it, but he may have used some tricks in the studio to make it bigger.
@@MrSculaxo Ha, I think that's it too, but another calf crusher.
I know right? Would've been pretty hilarious if they did try to stump him with Bleed and it was the one modern metal song he actually knew perfectly
In my entire lifetime I won't have the amount of energy Gregg had in this one video
I have no idea what he's talking about or how to read those charts/notes these drummers make, but I LOVE that he's walking us through it. I'll bet he's an amazing teacher.
The energy coming out of Gregg is amazeballs. This was a really fun watch. One of my top three of these in the series!
We need more SOAD songs on the channel.
This guy's energy is just through the roof. You can hear his love for music and drumming
One of the kindest gentlemen to ever sit behind a drum kit. Talent will get you liked, kindness will get you remembered. He was in little old Johnson City, TN several years ago and I got to meet him. I was embarrassed that I didn’t know Gregg was that GREAT of a player then. He was playing all kinds of world grooves and polyrhythms (I had no idea what that even was then, haha).
I was ready to heard him yell “Leroyyyyy Jenkinnnnss” at anytime. Awesome foward energy!
I remember going on a high school field trip, the dude sitting next to me shared his earphone and we listened to the album Toxicity. Instantly loved it and he said "you can't call yourself a drummer until you learn Toxicity". He didn't know anything about drumming but I took it to heart and learned it as my 1st "showoff" drum part
I'm 35 and bought my first drumset a few years ago. Always told myself that this would be the first song I learned. It's a joy to play 😁
