    1. An Se Young Delaying the game on purpose to rest as she is tired.
    2. Carolina Marin celebrating loudly to try and influence the line judge's decision on a close call.
    3. Wang requesting a shuttle change when the opponent is ready to serve, delaying the game.
    4. Kevin Sanjaya blowing the shuttle to make it go out
    4.5. Easy to tell players fighting
    5. Jordan serving when the opponents clearly weren't ready.
    6 Lee was injured and refused to play? Looks like she was stepping off the court which isn't allowed.
    7. Momota signaling to Axelsen that he wasn't ready. This is a common gesture, but Momota was likely doing it too much which can be faulted for delaying the game.
    8.Takahashi visually expressing that she is displeased with the decision of the line judge.
    9. Iskandar delaying the game on match point.
    10. Polii has been spoken to various times by the umpire about walking around randomly after a point, and got a fault for it after this instance. The fault was for delaying the game but the commentator dubbed it "slow play".
    11. Ygor being unsportsmanlike, easy to tell from video
    12. Antonsen blatantly talking to his coach mid set.
    13. Easy to tell from video 5:56
    14. Some really weird betting/matchfixing drama from the olympics
    15. Yellow card for throwing racket
    16 Hard to tell, at the start Kevin Sajaya kicks something towards the German side of the court and got faulted for it later
    17. Malaysian pair getting frustrating and displaying unsportsmanlike conduct

      14. It's not match fixing / betting drama. Basically the winner would have to face a harder team, while the loser would still progress, so South Korea followed suit and try to lose like China. They were both trying to lose lmao. Same thing with Indonesia. I believe the rules were changed after that so they'd be forced to play hard... Like racehorses

    I totally agree with David Togi about it being confusing. E.G., "5:40: "You have to [give a yellow card]. It was SO blatant." WHAT was so blatant? And 6:30 - It's clear that the players were trying to lose, but WHY?? Also, please assume (because it's true) that not everyone who watches these are experienced Badminton players. I just started, and I'm watching a ton of videos to learn rules, technique and strategy, and frankly, most of what I see is meaningless unless I already know what I;m here to learn. Catch 22 sort of thing.

      Well I dont even understand most of these either. But in the case of the players trying to lose I know why. The next upcoming match would be an easier pairing for the losing team. I dont remember which teams the next opponents were tho. But yea in most other cases I didnt understand the reasons.

    • @pickleballer1729
      @pickleballer1729 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lg3rm553 Yeah, even though I understand the reason for losing intentionally I've never understood how that makes sense. I mean, if you throw away the first game you've got a loss anyway, and then if you lose the second game you really screwed yourself. It kind of strikes me like the logic of Doomsday cults that kill themselves because they believe they're about to be killed. Huh?

      @@pickleballer1729 It was a case of match play qualifying into a tournament, like the world cup. The teams that were disqualified for intentionally losing had already qualified for the tournament. They were jockeying for position within the tournament.
      Imagine Ghana shocks Brazil and qualifies 1st in their group, while Brazil qualifies 2nd. If you win your group, your team plays Brazil in the tournament, if you qualify 2nd, you face Ghana. Losing is beneficial.

    • @pickleballer1729
      @pickleballer1729 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ytadventurer9170 Thanks for the explanation. Glad they were disqualified. We used to do something similar to that when I played on a Chess team, but it dodn't entail losing a game. We called it stacking. It works best when your team is closely matched to the opponents, but the players on each team are widely spread in ability. You put your weakest player on board one, best on board two, etc., basically forfeiting the top chair game to win more of the rest of the games. Totally legal, but sometimes that backfired too, like if the stacked TWO chairs deep. The Chess strategy begins before the Chess games.

      I have the same problem, but I think I have 5:40 figured out. A lot of these cards seem to be due to a player being exhausted/cramping and delaying to recuperate. I think at 5:40 he was delaying During the play. I.e. super high slow drop shots to make the rally as long as slow as possible.

    Misconduct rules in badminton include:
    Unsportsmanlike conduct: This includes behavior that is considered unprofessional or disrespectful towards other players, officials, or spectators. Examples include swearing, making inappropriate gestures, or deliberately distracting opponents.
    Deliberately delaying the game: This includes deliberately slowing down the pace of the game or taking too much time between points.
    Throwing racket or equipment: This includes throwing a racket or other equipment in anger or frustration.
    Coaching from the sidelines: Players are not allowed to receive coaching from the sidelines during a game.
    Illegal equipment: Players are not allowed to use equipment that does not conform to the official rules of the game.
    Leaving the court without permission: Players must obtain permission from the umpire before leaving the court during a game.
    Failing to follow umpire instructions: Players must follow the instructions of the umpire, such as serving in the correct manner or standing in the correct position.
    --
    The penalties for misconduct in badminton can vary depending on the type and severity of the offense. Here are some examples:
    Verbal warnings: The umpire or referee may give a verbal warning for minor misconduct, such as unsportsmanlike conduct or delay of game.
    Point deductions: Points may be deducted from a player's score for more serious misconduct, such as intentionally hitting the shuttlecock out of bounds, racket abuse, or insulting language.
    Disqualification: A player may be disqualified from the match for severe or repeated misconduct, such as physical abuse, cheating, or excessive arguing.
    Suspension: In extreme cases, a player or team may be suspended from future matches or tournaments for serious misconduct, such as match-fixing or doping.
    It's important to note that the exact penalties for misconduct can vary depending on the level of competition, the rules of the specific event or tournament, and the discretion of the officials.

    While there's no clear rule of a player must serve within a determined timer, it's absolutely ridiculous that it is at the umpire's sole discretion to either penalize a player or not. The tennis player gets 25 seconds between points. In this time they get someone to toss them balls, deliver towel to have a wipe down, crack a joke or two. And after just 4 to 8 points they get full 2 minutes break. Tennis is overly privileged and badminton players definitely deserve more respect.

      Black card: When a player continues to breach the laws after even receiving a red card, the Umpire calls in the referee with a view to disqualification. If the referee agrees to disqualify the offending player, a black card is given to the Umpire by the referee.
      Red card: A red card is given to singles/doubles players when two yellow cards are given to them by the umpire. when a player/team receives a red card, the opponents gain a point. Furthermore, the players/teams are fined with a heavy fine.
      Yellow card: Warning

    • @DKChyna
      @DKChyna ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@icedlatt3 i know that. What I meant is, that I don't think Jordan was doing anything wrong. I'm pretty sure, that the rules states, that the game should be played at the server's pace. But I'm not sure, might be wrong!
