    Dyno tune Vs Flash tune, what's your pick?! Reply below and let us know! www.fitmentindustries.com

      Flash tune is probably more expensive up front, but the OFT allows me to check engine codes and status instantly. Depends on how much you do to the car.

      Flash tunes are nice to get things started when modding at first. But dyno tune can dial it in perfectly. Squeeze a little more power and MPGs out of what you already have. Flash tune works, Dyno tune preferred.

    Well for the intake and exhaust you might not need a tune. All you need to do is disconnect the battery for about 30 minutes. Then reconnect it. This will adjust the ECU to run a new fuel trim and it will adjust the fuel. It measures the new airflow and adjusts accordingly.

    Yeah, I gotta get a TUNE. The hardest part is just getting the appointment with a PRO shop. I’m probably going to do Hondata. I want to be able to adjust my ECU to recognize the intake, and also adjust Air / Fuel ratios. Mass Air Flow sensor is getting hit by loads of ram jet style air. The most important part of the tune is being able to flash back to stock so Honda can do their warranty stuff / service checks.

I have a muffler and res delete, j pipe for drone, an ECU piggyback tune, a short ram intake. What else can I do? Specifically to a 2018 Malibu? Even if your car is completely stock and is older than 2007 you would benefit from a tune. In 2007 they started adding ethanol the regular fuels and if your car was not designed to run on that gas/ethanol blend it will cause your car to run slightly lean as more fuel is needed per cycle to maintain the same afrs with ethanol.

    It is extremely rare to find an Evolution on an off the shelf tune. Cobb tried entering our market about a decade ago; didn't go well. Just as our community doesn't have staged upgrades. With the CT9A platform (VIII, XI in the US), every part that makes power requires a tune. If it doesn't need a tune, like the UICP, it's only there to impress the uninitiated.
    If we're talking about a completely stock Evo running stock boost, a *good* tune will greatly improve the car's drivability and add about 30whp. Take the same stock Evo IX and add a boost controller, a TBE, and a fuel pump, then tune it - an extra 70-90whp with zero drawbacks. Unfortunately many new-ish owners don't stop there, don't really know what they're doing, and parts begin to fail. This isn't to say that it's impossible to build a reliable high powered Evolution that doesn't drive like a slug on the street; it just takes a lot more knowledge than what's offered on social media.
    As for tunes, it can make a night and day difference, depending on the platform. For example, I've driven three remote tunes, have tuned the car myself, and finally had it tuned on the STM dyno, by Em, about eight years ago. Em's tune had the best drivability by far. Power everywhere, starts spooling by 2400rpm, full boost by 3500rpm, zero knock. Reliable to a fault. Guys, choose your tuner carefully. And after your car is tuned, log it yourself and make sure that everything is running well. Can't stress the importance of logging enough.

  • @Osprey1994
    @Osprey1994 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ok so just want to say that I used an OTS tune on a COBB AP for a few months and honestly I don't think it did me any favors. It was nice initially and then I started running into some issues that I was told were nothing to be worried about. In the end I ended up taking off the AP and waiting until I felt like getting a pro tune done by either a local performance shop, or by Stratified.
    Obviously tuning your car comes with risks, and you might not know if you have a problem until you have done some damage.

    • @mattevans1643
      @mattevans1643 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, but it's much worse than just buying a standalone. You would have to rebuild it with parts that can be programmed, and with the space requirements being specific, that's a little hard. Regular ECU's aren't programmable, well, the older ones. The technology back then isn't what it is now, where they can adjust to differences to make everything make sense, they run off specific numbers. And the code and data is already there. If you know somebody who can get into it, and change it's coding then yes, by all means it is possible, but that's about it. And definitely not worth it. You can pick up a standalone and have a professional tune it for you, to deal with emmisions and all that, while still giving you more power.

      When you put any mod on a car for the car to make use of it properly it has to know its there and you have to tell it. Or pay someone to tune it. On many performance cars that come stock with a turbocharger or supercharger they can benefit from an aftermarket tune without any modifications at all.

    So if I add en exhaust, CAI, bypass valve adapter, and a new Intercooler can I use my Cobb tune to get the most out of it. Or do I have to go get my car up on a dyno and get a professional tune?

    Will a professional ecutek tune be reliable for my 2017 q60 red sport? It’s my only car I daily drive. I wanna tune it but I’m worried I’m gonna be eating too much oil or blow turbo and don’t wanna get stuck with $10k in repairs as I still have $25k left to payoff on it

    Can you use a flash tune like the cobb on an E46?

  • @natev580
    @natev580 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ok.. Performance intakes and exhaust systems do not increase the amount of airflow going to or from your engine. The intake and exhaust ports on your head/heads are only so big and will only allow so much airflow. Your valves, again are only so big and the lift and duration on your cam/cams is only so much. Without changing all of that you ARE NOT getting more air into or out of your engine without forced induction. All you are doing at that point is reducing the flow resistance between your air filter and throttle body along with from your head to the end of the tail pipe.
    On the point of a tune though. You will likely see noticeable gains over any factory tune out there, with or without mods. My truck for example. 302hp at the rear wheels straight out of the factory. It is still completely stock with the exception of a rather modest tune. It is now sitting at 367hp. Anything sitting in the showroom that most people can afford is so detuned from the factory that it is absolutely stupid.
