An engine swap is about 9 months of "why did I do this, this was a terrible choice" but then it turns into "this is the best thing ive ever done" It's basically like having kids
For me it's been years of research and planning and saving, and all in all it's proving to be very easy, Btw it's not too hard what im doing, its a auto to manual swap and d series to k series. Clean af Automatic civic to stick shift k20 turbo
EVERY time I think about getting back into cars and modding, I come here. This channel is what keeps my kids having good Christmases. Wish this was around when I had my RSX. By the end, I had ruined that car to the point that I literally gave it away for free.
Don't engine swap a car. Build it. Buy a rolling chassis and build the car from scratch. Strip everything out of the car until its a bare metal skeleton. This makes measurements for all the fab work 100x easier. Heck, this makes everything 100x easier. Understand that to do a good job that almost everything will need to be replaced with new and often custom made parts. An aftermarket ECU is highly recommended. It's never "Oh I'll just buy this longblock and get a couple of mounts made and i'll be good." Bring tons of money, tools and time.
Sounds about right, tons of money and even tons of more time, and then there’s blood, sweat, and maybe tears 😭 lol, and then maybe just maybe, you can get the car to start... and stay runnin for longer than 10 seconds...

I got a volvo 240 (92)... I got a guy to take out factory engine, throw in 16 head on it... and turbo'd it.... nearly 3x the horsepower while looking stock!
Some engine families easily swap. People have done the GS300 with the Aristo 2JZ-GTE motor from Japan, and it’s literally plug and play for the most part. You can 1J swap an IS300 or SC300 for around 5 grand excluding any trans work.
RedShade151 I was recommended well over 10k for my is300 to be done and fabricated at a shop. Worth it? Or should I save the 4000 in labor costs? This includes trans work which mine is auto
A lot people exaggerate the work... it’s the patience that you need... see I put a 3516 c HD engine in a Miata and it’s the love of my life but I took a year
NeedForSpeed1967 them engines were amazing considering they could take the supra to 1000 plus horse power without an aftermarket engine because they were stock in the car. Tuners were tuners you swap out some parts tweak the engine and had something with the same amount of power as your big block Chevy dodge or ford v8 with two less cylinders and because of that the 2JZ is crazy expensive
@@vipervidsgamingplus5723 Well the jdm has smaller fuel pump but stock internals you can double or triple the horsepower imagine if you boosted a 2jz GTE its not a valve bender
I was involved in putting the new ford 6.7 turbo diesel in a few different Excursions. But did more like a body swap. Cut the back wall at the B or C pillar on a brand new F250, F350, or F450. Then slide the back end of an Excursion in, to make either a 4 or 6 door Excursion. The f450 Excursion looked badass as a dually.
Yeeeeeeeah I said the same thing then I found a 92 D150 for a really cheap price. Then........a month later Holley announced they made mounting brackets for a hemi swap on my truck. Now, I just got an 05 Durango and yanked out the engine last week (9 hour job😥). I need to rebuild the engine then it's going in the truck 😅 already expecting the tears and regret.
I swapped a V12 into my Lawnmower easily. Edit: Thanks for the heart Fitment! the real reason I watched this was because I was thinking about swapping a RB26 into my S13.
If you research and plan, it doesn't take long at all. I swapped a 351w stroker/tremec manual trans into my 2012 V6/auto Mustang. It took 28 days from start to finish, and I only had to fabricate one thing I didn't expect (a bracket so I could relocate the radiator expansion tank). It even fit under the stock hood with a 3-inch air filter element. No frustration, no surprises. I did manage to kill the OEM fuel pump (it took six months) because it's simply not intended to be on all the time at full flow (I replaced it with a walbro and it's been running fine for the last 6.5 years. What you didn't mention is that a motor swap is going to cost (much) more than you expect. It's the no-see-ums that get you (I have over $500 in AN fittings in my car), as well as your attention to detail and what you're willing to live with when it's done. If you're happy with a salvage yard ghetto swap, you can pretty much cheap out for everything, but expect shit to break often. Doing a swap is one thing. Doing it well is a completely different thing.
I'm going to do an engine swap pretty soon I'm going to be putting an h22a in my 97 Accord and since my Accord had an F22 basically it's a plug and play it's going to take some time to get it done but it's going to work lol wish me luck though!!

Guys!! All the best!! I went through hell while swapping my engine!! All the very best to all young car guys out there!!
A lot people exaggerate the work... it’s the patience that you need... see I put a 3516 c HD engine in a Miata and it’s the love of my life but I took a year
Rip looks like I’m not going to 2JZ swap the new 2020 Supra anymore.
Nah. Toyota were atleast smart about it. They made it easy to swap if you buy the banger version
Put a V8 in it
Ahmad Sarwar but Daigo already swapped it
NeedForSpeed1967 them engines were amazing considering they could take the supra to 1000 plus horse power without an aftermarket engine because they were stock in the car.
Engineers have trouble designing and building cars that work to budget and requirements, a dude in his garage is in for a rough time 😉
The wiring part killed me. I made that mistake thinking it’ll look so nice with all the wires hidden
This makes it sound really really scary but I feel like that won't deter hardly anyone. Great video you put great emotion behind this decision
I started watching this only to realize I never wanna engine swap a car ever haha
@@sadboycali good luck sounds sick
@@mercury0214 thank you!
@@sadboycali You better give us all updates on this very thread my friend!
Well I would love to swap but I don't got a garage...
Best cars in my life were engine swapped. Now Im looking forward to swapping a K20/24 or 1UZ in my new E36.
YALL STAY READING MY MIND, first it was the so you want a Miata, then the wide body, now this😂
WE GOT YOU FAM

This post was brought to you by #Toyobaru gang
I agree with everything you said. Probably the hardest thing I've ever done in my life
The fact you guys have a topic for literally everything is insane😭😭
we got you fam
I swapped a V12 into my Lawnmower easily.
Edit: Thanks for the heart Fitment! the real reason I watched this was because I was thinking about swapping a RB26 into my S13.
He took it back after you said that lol
@@1040heart bro I seen that and was laughing when I read your comment. I died
Haven't found a video I found funny every 30 seconds while learning something. Keep it up. Hoping to do a 26rb in an RX8.
Thank you! ❤️
So angry lmao. I bet there was some good story's with your datsun.
Good advice, I was thought about it lately, thank you!
8:38 I can't tell you how many times i've lost my god damn 10mm. Made me laugh so much, because of how true it is.
Glad you could feel our humor there! 😂
Someone really got alex triggered for him to go off in this video. 🤔
i`m plannung on swapping a 20v 4AG into my Polo 86c
I'm going to do an engine swap pretty soon I'm going to be putting an h22a in my 97 Accord and since my Accord had an F22 basically it's a plug and play it's going to take some time to get it done but it's going to work lol wish me luck though!!
The last two minutes was golden🤣🤣
My dream is to 2jz a rx7 and rotary a Supra
weird flex but ok
Good! So haters quiet down.
Welp....I’m not with it but I’m not against it
Her: "okay, but can you explain why she's liking all of your tweets?"
Me speechless : @2:26
1:53 Not every engine swap makes sense. you cant just take any engine and put it into any car
meanwhile rob dahm is over here rotary swapping a corvette
One time I put a Chrysler 426 into a Geo Metro. Never had any issues. Took 20 minutes
