X7 > X6. I can understand butchering a new idea to the series, but how Crapcom managed to screw up the gameplay they've been doing for YEARS is beyond me. X6 is like 06, though thankfully not as bad.
I honestly don't find that all that bad. It also kind of fits considering he's mentally unstable and is a hyena, and if the Lion King has taught me anything, it's that hyenas aren't known for having beautiful voices. Plus, I'd rather hear that on loop for 10 minutes straight than have to play through Heatnix's or the Gate stages. X7 may be a giant mess, but at least level design wasn't the biggest part of that mess like with X6.

Shadow the Hedgehog's story. When you really think about it, there's a little beginning part, a big ending part, and the whole middle area is just a gigantic void. The guns are pretty useful, though. I even enjoy the game's soundtrack.

Other guilty pleasures of mine include Mega Man 8, Sonic and the Black Knight, Sonic and the secret rings, hell, let's say every Sonic game from 2005-2009, except for Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Rush, which I unironically enjoy and will defend as good games.
Sonic Rush is all but flawless, both in story and gameplay. Heck, Shadow the hedgehog is a great part of the character’s story arc starting from adventure 2, heroes, and ending at 06.

My brother in Gaming, I must confess, I enjoyed Shadow the Hedgehog also. So I can't be critical. Also my biggest Guilty Pleasure is Megaman Battle network Battle chip challenge.
Devil May Cry 2 is definitely a guilty pleasure of mine. Essentially a neutered version of the first game, the unnecessarily huge environments, weak enemies and unmemorable bosses were hardly inspired, all of the characters could have done with a bit more, well, character (especially with how Dante was in the first game) and the assortment of moves you could pull off were limited to what you started the game with. Despite that, I did like the atmosphere in some areas, the music was great, the way they handled Devil Triggers was cool, some of the bosses like Nefasturris and Trismagia had awesome designs as do the outfits for the playable characters, and I genuinely would have liked to see Lucia make a return if not just to flesh out her personality a bit more beyond "I'm not a real people!". It sort of helps that it was the first DMC game I ever played, so I didn't have much to get disappointed about.
WOW!! *FINALLY* some other popular TH-camr ENJOYED some of Shad-OW the EDGE-og!! I really enjoyed the gameplay while playing through it, especially since it was the FIRST PROPER 3D SONIC GAME I EVER PLAYED! It had good and even great music, that I listened to outside of the game, the unlockable weapons no one EVER mentions are nice, especially the SHADOW RIFLE! That gun was a favorite of mine. Yes, it's such a try hard at being edgy, especially with the DAMN DAMN'S ever DAMN few DAMN seconds. And yes, the storyline is seriously flawed. THOUGH, Sonic games were never known for their mind blowing stories. XD Despite all it's flaws, I think people should give it some credit, and NOT jump on the bandwagon of hate towards this game. Especially popular youtubers.

But over a decade ago, I also had Ooga Booga for the Dreamcast--though at the time the only thing I was ever guilty of was reading the name aloud lol! Personally I love Star Fox Adventures is my favorite guilty pleasure. Yeah its not what I want out of a Star Fox game but it helped me through my depression. Not to mention me 100% completing it was quite satisfying. Makes the whole appearance of Dinosaur Planet in Assault for me all the more heartwarming.
Dude! I love your approach to your vids! Megaman X6 is one of my top guilty pleasures; still play it to this day (was playing it again days ago). The impossible rescuing of reploids was maddening to me (and still is-can't stop wondering what happens when you rescue them all) and the lack of true animated cutscenes was a bit questionable. But man: how many times have I beaten that game?
X6 had a lot going against it, but there were some diamonds in the rough; such as amazing music, (for the most part) good weapons, and Infinity Mijinion. (He was my favorite X6 maverick.)
Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon is probably the most faithful remake of an NES game I've ever played, and it shows. The support system that made the franchise so appealing to veteran players in the West was not present as it was in the original; the characters weren't exactly deep or as compelling as the cast of, say, Blazing Sword or Path of Radiance because, well, it's a script ripped straight from an NES game; the map design is pretty simplistic for the most part; the sprite work is pretty ugly; the unit balance is kind of all over the place; the Reclass system introduced in this game is not particularly balanced. I still had fun with it. Archania as a setting is full of interesting lore, the characters themselves, while simplistically-written, are memorable and iconic, and Marth is an all-around cool protagonist. It's actually a shame that the remake of the sequel never made it to the states, as that game is one of my absolute favorites in the series.
I enjoyed it as well (of course not as much as 9 or 10 for example) but I have to say that I am not the biggest fan of the gaiden chapters, I mean some of them are good but that is what I don't like, if I want to play and enjoy them I have to let my own units die.
Darth Revan I will admit the only genuine problem I have with Shadow Dragon is the Gaiden maps requiring you to basically let your entire army did off. I don't see them as being worth it in the end, as the units exclusive to the Gaiden chapters are largely not very good.
Yeah, me neither but the fact that you had to let most of your units to die off to even be able to play them was annoying, especially If you wanted to get a proper dark mage(wich I did), yeah normal mages are just better but I like their design.
I have a game that I had heard about for some time and wanted to see if it was really so bad. I definitely saw-and encountered-the flaws and had some frustration with it, but I still had some fun with it. That game (Flame Shield up)... ...was Mighty No. 9.
Wow. I played Shadow when I was in grade school. And I enjoyed both the gameplay and music. Up until now, I didn't realize how much it was disapproved.
I have to admit, while Shadow the Hedgehog and Final Fantasy XIII are far from good games, there's a lot in both that I kinda like. That's only from an idea perspective in XIII's case, since I haven't played it, but still. Funny thing, though. XIII? The more I think about the ideas I like, the more I consider one day playing it. Lightning Returns? Oddly enough, the relative media silence (seriously, no one talks about XIII-3) actually makes me optimistic. XIII-2? ...no, I have nothing good to say about that one, and no desire to touch it.

As someone who played #8, I agree. I enjoyed Number 5, since it revealed more of Samus' origins (and the above mentioned finishers, plus....FINALLY WE'RE GETTING METROID AGAIN!)

Shadow the Hedgehog was actually quite fun, at least when I was younger. I mean, a Sonic character? With a GUN?!?! Blew my fucking mind back then. Also, BREAK DOWN BREAK DOWN
It's understandable why people disliked Shadow the Hedgehog™ because of how many times it differentiated from the other Sonic games, but it was actually one of my favorite games for PS2 as a kid. The guns never bothered me, I'd go as far as saying they improved the gameplay for me. I actually wasn't aware of the swearing for whatever reason, probably naivety protecting my young mind. And I'm pretty sure at this point I was the *ONLY* one who actually *liked* the Egg Dealer boss. Mostly for the quotes, but still liked it. It's only natural I get eventual hate for actually liking this game(and Egg Dealer), but I'm in TH-cam comments territory, it's to be expected.
One of my guilty pleasures would have to be... FE: Awakening. Yes, most of the characters are either too anime tropey or have no depth whatsoever. Yes, the story pretty much nosedives after Gangrel gets axed and Grima is brought in. Yes, the gameplay is broken BEYOND belief because of the pairing system. And yes, it gets way too easy because of said broken combat and the fact that you can already make your best units halfway through the game, either by grinding or going through the game naturally. And yet, despite ALL of that... I still had some fun with it. The way the support system worked meant that pairing up one male and one female unit that I wanted together was pretty neat and left a room for a lot of possibilities for the child character (some of which can be OP from the get-go if done properly, but I digress), the characters that were actually well-written were a lot of fun (Owain, Cherche, Donnel, and Kellam comes to mind), and there were a few chapters that, while not taxing on the brain, did have some really nice atmosphere to it.
so you've mentioned xseed have you played the legend of heroes games as in trails of the sky or trails of cold steel because their are amazing nihon falcon games that were released via xseed.
While the mixed opinions on the Sonic series can make a lot of the games fall under guilty pleasures for me, I'd say mine from the series is Shadow the Hedgehog. It's stupid, yeah, but I still like it if I ignore the story to some extent and just see it as a game (including the missions). I will say, though, that Magma Shelter (I think that was the name) was not only stupid, but a dick move by the developers. That Shadow Android crap is so stupid that it's clearly just a punishment for people trying to reach the goal ring and play it like a normal Sonic game. You want a real Neutral ending, do a Hero mission and end with Cosmic Fall. Much more fulfilling, and the stage itself is my favorite out of the five finales.
I also think 06 as my guilty pleasure. The game is bad in many ways and Sonic and Blaze were the WORST characters to play as, but I'm dead serious when I say I liked the game's story, for the most part, soundtrack was one of the best ones in the entire series, the game had the best villain of the series and the final level practically fixed EVERY problem I had with the game.
One of my guilty pleasures is ride to hell retribution. It's basically a B movie made Into a game. Though the fact that it's riddled with glitches Just makes it more hilarious.
After watching Rabbidluigi fight him A) I think his balloon form is too easy as opposed to too hard, and B) the revenge is unsatisfying message COULD have worked if they had actually downplayed the fight, something I noticed after realizing Batt doesn't look like final boss material. He should've been treated as just another guy to kill, like the early bosses.
Other M also had that stupid glitch where one of the doors you NEED to open to progress through the game was permanently shut which not only meant that you had to delete that save file but Nintendo even had a service that lets you send them glitched saves to be fixed for free since the Wii wasn't capable of downloading patches
You know, I'm surprised to find another person with the Shadow the Hedgehog game as a Guilty Pleasure. I also got quite a lot of mileage out of it, not just from the trial of unlocking and beating Expert Mode, but me and friends had fun in the Multiplayer as well. Yeah, it had multiplayer, and while simplistic was quite enjoyable. They tried a bit too hard to make Shadow edgy, but at least they got the gameplay controls and Music right.
My guilty pleasure is Street Fighter the Movie the Game. The console version was okay but the Arcade version was my favorite, it was ridiculous but pretty funny, like the movie. Captain Sawada is a legend! Kamikaze-Banzai! Thanks for the video Quarter Guy! Have a nice day!
I remember Shadow the Hedgehog for Gamecube. Took me quite some time to get all 326 endings, and clear expert mode. Oh and X6, Blaze Heatnix fave character. I even have him set up MY flame shields. Wheelie Breakers, why do the bikes have to be so fast in platinum championship while mine just slugs away?
Heatnix could have been so much better, and that's why my favorite Maverick from X6 is Infinity Mijinion (as he was one of the *TWO* to put up a real fight).

Guilty pleasures... well, one of mine is The Adventures of Bayou Billy for NES, lack of hit stun for the enemies, pretty difficult driving stages, decent shoting stages, but hardcore as hell, I have to take a look to those again... BTW, I agree with you with Mega Man X6 (another guilty pleasure of mine as well and Castlevania Judgment).
I'm pretty sure Metroid: Samus Returns is a remake of Metroid II: Return of Samus, but that's not necessarily a bad thing Also, I wouldn't mind seeing Bub and Bob get a new game

Mine is Dragon age 2. Looks nice, sarcastic Hawke is amazing, some excellent companions like Aveline, Varric, and Isabellea, story was decent and has some very rewarding mission. However at the same time, some routes with your friends and certain plot points are way too obvious, some side characters are straight up pointless or wasted, and the world didn't feel as expansive as it was and both main factions don't learn from mistakes in the previous arcs.
Only after 7 years did I actually unlock Shadow's Expert Mode. Beat it in 4 tries or so. Cosmic Fall can suck it. But anyway, yeah. Shadow the Edgehog is my biggest guilty pleasure too. I don't mind that Shadow is pretty loose because his control doesn't get in my way that often. I don't mind the relatively linear level design because if the levels weren't, the missions wouldn't be tolerable. In fact, I'm okay with most of the missions. Only 5 or so make me question my life. The end of path bosses are actually pretty fun for me, even if it's for the wrong reasons (hello, Egg Dealer). The guns are actually pretty good and make the enemies with health bars easy to manage. And finally, I agree with the music. It's not as forgettable as everyone says it is. I'll recognize a good amount of stages and boss themes, and I swear it's not just because of my memory. As for other guilty pleasures, well, Mario Party 9 and Island Tour (The former being my favorite Mario Party and the latter being my favorite handheld Mario Party) Mega Man 5, most of Sonic And The Secret Rings, PokéPark Wii, and there would be more if I played more game franchises.
Okay, serious question here, what's with all the hate for Final Fantasy 13, I mean I get it, some games are not for everyone but most people call it a bad game and honestly, most of these points are very dumb. The quarter guy actually brought up one of the points that is actually true, the halways can get a bit repetetive but that's only a fairly small issue but why the hell are there so many people that complain about a Japanese game being fucking Japanesque (yeah I ranted a bit but it was actually a serious question I'd like to discuss in a civiliced manner).

Good List! I don't really have that many guilty pleasures, but I do have games that I enjoyed that other decried... Let's see... Sonic 2006 - Pretty miserable excuse for a Sonic game, but I do enjoy the level design from Sonic's story. One of the few things that game got right. CastleVania: The Adventure - Well, I play a version that speeds Christopher up & gets rid of the losing upgrade mechanic. With that, this becomes a good game. CastleVania 2: Simon's Quest - Well, I like it enough to give it a full playthrough every once in a while. There's also a version of it that fixes many of the issues it has. Mega Man X6 - Not a bad game, just heavily flawed. Problem is the difficulty, this game is the toughest of the X games & not a lot of people were used to that old school difficulty. I was when I was a teen, so it didn't bother me too much. I just did a full playthrough of the game a few months ago & still didn't have too much trouble because I knew what I was doing. I will say this though: This game was designed with the Ultimate Armor in mind. Whoever thought that was a good idea ought to be shot. Story is being retranslated right now. These 4 would count as a guilty pleasure, I think. The others, no because I rarely play them. CastleVania Judgment - It's not a bad game, really. I only played it once. If you don't like the controls, just use a GameCube controller. OST is amazing. I don't like the artwork though. X_X Final Fantasy 2 - Again, not a bad game. I know the mechanics turn people off but once you get used it to it, it's not too bad. The difficulty is a bit much, though.

Not sure if it can be considered a guilty pleasure...but I'd have to say that one game I never hear the end of me being questioned why I like it is a little known DS title by the name of Eledees: The adventures of Kai and Zero.
Glad to see someone else on the bandwagon for War Gods. I loved the cheese factor of this game and, to be fair, some of the fatalities were much better then what MK had at that time (of course, 9 and X have upped the ante)
I wouldn't call this game a guilty pleasure per say since I found very little wrong with it gameplay wise, but I can't understand why fans of the franchise dislike it. It's Starfox Adventures. I love this game. Granted it's more of an action adventure game and not like it's predecessor, Star Fox 64, but it really doesn't bother me in the least.
Hey, it's Wheelie Breakers! I don't think the lack of info was an issue, but the limited monsters and the story being literal bs (the enemy racers were always blatantly overpowered) definitely made me stay in casual races every now and then.

Dude! I love your approach to your vids! Megaman X6 is one of my top guilty pleasures; still play it to this day (was playing it again days ago). The impossible rescuing of reploids was maddening to me (and still is-can't stop wondering what happens when you rescue them all) and the lack of true animated cutscenes was a bit questionable. But man: how many times have I beaten that game?
X6 had a lot going against it, but there were some diamonds in the rough; such as amazing music, (for the most part) good weapons, and Infinity Mijinion. (He was my favorite X6 maverick.)
Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon is probably the most faithful remake of an NES game I've ever played, and it shows. The support system that made the franchise so appealing to veteran players in the West was not present as it was in the original; the characters weren't exactly deep or as compelling as the cast of, say, Blazing Sword or Path of Radiance because, well, it's a script ripped straight from an NES game; the map design is pretty simplistic for the most part; the sprite work is pretty ugly; the unit balance is kind of all over the place; the Reclass system introduced in this game is not particularly balanced.
I still had fun with it. Archania as a setting is full of interesting lore, the characters themselves, while simplistically-written, are memorable and iconic, and Marth is an all-around cool protagonist. It's actually a shame that the remake of the sequel never made it to the states, as that game is one of my absolute favorites in the series.
At least the FE3 attack remix was pretty good.
I enjoyed it as well (of course not as much as 9 or 10 for example) but I have to say that I am not the biggest fan of the gaiden chapters, I mean some of them are good but that is what I don't like, if I want to play and enjoy them I have to let my own units die.
Darth Revan I will admit the only genuine problem I have with Shadow Dragon is the Gaiden maps requiring you to basically let your entire army did off. I don't see them as being worth it in the end, as the units exclusive to the Gaiden chapters are largely not very good.
Yeah, me neither but the fact that you had to let most of your units to die off to even be able to play them was annoying, especially If you wanted to get a proper dark mage(wich I did), yeah normal mages are just better but I like their design.

I have to admit, while Shadow the Hedgehog and Final Fantasy XIII are far from good games, there's a lot in both that I kinda like. That's only from an idea perspective in XIII's case, since I haven't played it, but still.
Funny thing, though. XIII? The more I think about the ideas I like, the more I consider one day playing it. Lightning Returns? Oddly enough, the relative media silence (seriously, no one talks about XIII-3) actually makes me optimistic. XIII-2? ...no, I have nothing good to say about that one, and no desire to touch it.

It's understandable why people disliked Shadow the Hedgehog™ because of how many times it differentiated from the other Sonic games,
but it was actually one of my favorite games for PS2 as a kid.
The guns never bothered me, I'd go as far as saying they improved the gameplay for me.
I actually wasn't aware of the swearing for whatever reason, probably naivety protecting my young mind.
And I'm pretty sure at this point I was the *ONLY* one who actually *liked* the Egg Dealer boss. Mostly for the quotes, but still liked it.
It's only natural I get eventual hate for actually liking this game(and Egg Dealer), but I'm in TH-cam comments territory, it's to be expected.

One of my guilty pleasures would have to be... FE: Awakening.
Yes, most of the characters are either too anime tropey or have no depth whatsoever. Yes, the story pretty much nosedives after Gangrel gets axed and Grima is brought in. Yes, the gameplay is broken BEYOND belief because of the pairing system. And yes, it gets way too easy because of said broken combat and the fact that you can already make your best units halfway through the game, either by grinding or going through the game naturally.
And yet, despite ALL of that... I still had some fun with it. The way the support system worked meant that pairing up one male and one female unit that I wanted together was pretty neat and left a room for a lot of possibilities for the child character (some of which can be OP from the get-go if done properly, but I digress), the characters that were actually well-written were a lot of fun (Owain, Cherche, Donnel, and Kellam comes to mind), and there were a few chapters that, while not taxing on the brain, did have some really nice atmosphere to it.

While the mixed opinions on the Sonic series can make a lot of the games fall under guilty pleasures for me, I'd say mine from the series is Shadow the Hedgehog. It's stupid, yeah, but I still like it if I ignore the story to some extent and just see it as a game (including the missions).
I will say, though, that Magma Shelter (I think that was the name) was not only stupid, but a dick move by the developers. That Shadow Android crap is so stupid that it's clearly just a punishment for people trying to reach the goal ring and play it like a normal Sonic game. You want a real Neutral ending, do a Hero mission and end with Cosmic Fall. Much more fulfilling, and the stage itself is my favorite out of the five finales.
I also think 06 as my guilty pleasure. The game is bad in many ways and Sonic and Blaze were the WORST characters to play as, but I'm dead serious when I say I liked the game's story, for the most part, soundtrack was one of the best ones in the entire series, the game had the best villain of the series and the final level practically fixed EVERY problem I had with the game.

After watching Rabbidluigi fight him A) I think his balloon form is too easy as opposed to too hard, and B) the revenge is unsatisfying message COULD have worked if they had actually downplayed the fight, something I noticed after realizing Batt doesn't look like final boss material. He should've been treated as just another guy to kill, like the early bosses.

Other M also had that stupid glitch where one of the doors you NEED to open to progress through the game was permanently shut which not only meant that you had to delete that save file but Nintendo even had a service that lets you send them glitched saves to be fixed for free since the Wii wasn't capable of downloading patches
You know, I'm surprised to find another person with the Shadow the Hedgehog game as a Guilty Pleasure. I also got quite a lot of mileage out of it, not just from the trial of unlocking and beating Expert Mode, but me and friends had fun in the Multiplayer as well. Yeah, it had multiplayer, and while simplistic was quite enjoyable. They tried a bit too hard to make Shadow edgy, but at least they got the gameplay controls and Music right.
Funny thing is that I actually don't know any persons that played the game and didn't like it.
My guilty pleasure is Street Fighter the Movie the Game.
The console version was okay but the Arcade version was my favorite, it was ridiculous but pretty funny, like the movie.

Mine is Dragon age 2. Looks nice, sarcastic Hawke is amazing, some excellent companions like Aveline, Varric, and Isabellea, story was decent and has some very rewarding mission. However at the same time, some routes with your friends and certain plot points are way too obvious, some side characters are straight up pointless or wasted, and the world didn't feel as expansive as it was and both main factions don't learn from mistakes in the previous arcs.
Only after 7 years did I actually unlock Shadow's Expert Mode. Beat it in 4 tries or so. Cosmic Fall can suck it.
But anyway, yeah. Shadow the Edgehog is my biggest guilty pleasure too. I don't mind that Shadow is pretty loose because his control doesn't get in my way that often. I don't mind the relatively linear level design because if the levels weren't, the missions wouldn't be tolerable. In fact, I'm okay with most of the missions. Only 5 or so make me question my life. The end of path bosses are actually pretty fun for me, even if it's for the wrong reasons (hello, Egg Dealer). The guns are actually pretty good and make the enemies with health bars easy to manage. And finally, I agree with the music. It's not as forgettable as everyone says it is. I'll recognize a good amount of stages and boss themes, and I swear it's not just because of my memory.
As for other guilty pleasures, well, Mario Party 9 and Island Tour (The former being my favorite Mario Party and the latter being my favorite handheld Mario Party) Mega Man 5, most of Sonic And The Secret Rings, PokéPark Wii, and there would be more if I played more game franchises.

Okay, serious question here, what's with all the hate for Final Fantasy 13, I mean I get it, some games are not for everyone but most people call it a bad game and honestly, most of these points are very dumb. The quarter guy actually brought up one of the points that is actually true, the halways can get a bit repetetive but that's only a fairly small issue but why the hell are there so many people that complain about a Japanese game being fucking Japanesque (yeah I ranted a bit but it was actually a serious question I'd like to discuss in a civiliced manner).
One guilty pleasure of mine: Wipeout for the Wii based on the ABC Show. It is horribly put together, but my god, the over the top ragdolls combined with all the glitches make it freaking hilarious!

Sonic 2006 - Pretty miserable excuse for a Sonic game, but I do enjoy the level design from Sonic's story. One of the few things that game got right.
CastleVania: The Adventure - Well, I play a version that speeds Christopher up & gets rid of the losing upgrade mechanic. With that, this becomes a good game.
CastleVania 2: Simon's Quest - Well, I like it enough to give it a full playthrough every once in a while. There's also a version of it that fixes many of the issues it has.
Mega Man X6 - Not a bad game, just heavily flawed. Problem is the difficulty, this game is the toughest of the X games & not a lot of people were used to that old school difficulty. I was when I was a teen, so it didn't bother me too much. I just did a full playthrough of the game a few months ago & still didn't have too much trouble because I knew what I was doing. I will say this though: This game was designed with the Ultimate Armor in mind. Whoever thought that was a good idea ought to be shot. Story is being retranslated right now.
These 4 would count as a guilty pleasure, I think. The others, no because I rarely play them.
CastleVania Judgment - It's not a bad game, really. I only played it once. If you don't like the controls, just use a GameCube controller. OST is amazing. I don't like the artwork though. X_X
Final Fantasy 2 - Again, not a bad game. I know the mechanics turn people off but once you get used it to it, it's not too bad. The difficulty is a bit much, though.
Yeah, X6 was flawed, but having old school game difficulty was refreshing! I like Mega Man for that reason! DIFFICULTY!
That and the history I have with Mega Man. He was my childhood hero, especially when I started watching the 80's cartoon!

I wouldn't call this game a guilty pleasure per say since I found very little wrong with it gameplay wise, but I can't understand why fans of the franchise dislike it. It's Starfox Adventures. I love this game. Granted it's more of an action adventure game and not like it's predecessor, Star Fox 64, but it really doesn't bother me in the least.
