Price Lyon of Grado. The most depressing and tragic deconstruction of the "always someone better" and "self depreciation" tropes ever seen. Helps that he's no slouch in combat.
And, funnily enough, just like in mythology: out of petty hatred for his sister. News flash: Susano'o Unit proven to work on people that despise their own lil' sis. *Looking at you, Major Kiss-A-Raggy.*
10:14 why do I get the feeling that the only way to truly take care of Terami is to pull a Freddy Krueger and wipe all knowledge of him from existence.
Thank goodness someone else who likes Dr Regal as a great villain. I especially love his villainous monologue on the nature of what is good and what is evil at the end of 4.
Only starting and I already caught two Robbie Rotten references (one on the thumbnail and the other with the saxaphone) Edit: Just heard we are number one
I think Count Bleck holds the spot as my favorite villain. While it may be due to my limited knowledge on the wide variety of villains out there, I like him for being a type of villain the Mario series rarely to never sees; an emotionally tortured villain who's motives run purely on his love for Tippi. Given Mario's history of having tyrant villains such as Bowser or Smithy, Bleck is a breath of fresh.
He was just as good. I put him in the same category as Fawful; a smart villain who uses his wits as oppose to brute force. I like Dimentio for the lengths he goes though to achieve his goals. Remaining in the shadows, manipulating the game from behind Bleck's presence. He's also got an interesting personality; the psychopathic type who's almost always got something witty to say whenever he confronts his enemies. Even in his defeat, he's still got a deranged smile. Super Paper Mario had some great villains, that's for certain.
Yes. I can't agree more. If they didn't exist in vastly different game franchises, there is a descent chance that the two would get along quickly. SPOILERS TO DANGANRONPA TRIGGER HAPPY HAVOC BELOW! AT LEAST BEAT GAME 1 FOR ITS GOOD STORY! If Terumi and Junko (the original person behind Monokuma) had ever met, they would instantly be the Ultimate Despair Power Couple. It's a good thing that both the barrier of Death and the barrier of being in completely different games are keeping these two from meeting, or else I doubt that many people would ever live to see Hope again.
The Green Dragon 53 The problem is that Terumi shares the stage with NO ONE. The guy has a god complex because he IS a god. Meaning: he would hate Junko for being a pathetic wannabe and would just as soon as stab her in the back and leave her for dead as soon as cooperate
Personally I love Monokuma as my favorite villian I mean he's a build a bear reject that's monochromatic and is your headmaster of DR, DR2, and appears DR3 then appears in DRAE but this time you can finally kill him! (I haven't played DRV3 yet but I do know he is in the game from the trailers I saw) he's always causing trouble and despair where ever he goes and I love the little shit for the crap that he pulls. As he helps shows that anyone can be pushed to do anything, given they have the proper incentive.
10: Slot machines are already weapons, if you go by the definition that they take lives. 9: What can I say? 10. This guy has the wits to contend with someone smart enough to create a slot machine gun. That's damn impressive. 9. An excellent fan-made autobiography video of Eggman exists here on TH-cam. That aside, this egg-shaped scientist is both menacing and entertaining. It takes courage to both contend with a supersonic hedgehog and rip off Darth Vader. 8. Again, not familiar enough. 3. This guy is the epitome of the tragic gaming villain. Not spoiling anything, but you'll probably feel bad for him. 2. Even more of a troll than Terumi. Fucking hilarious. 1. GEESE!
Good to see number 9 and 2 on here (sees the preview) Oh come on I just literally started brainstorming ideas for that 2 weeks ago ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Though to be fair I don't think mine will work but if by some reason you're number 1 is different from mine then I might put more attention into the list.
10. Surprise Laton. XD 9. You know what they say. The more the merrier. XD 8. *shiver that outfit. *puke* 7. Yup called him. XD 6. The cake is a lie. 5. You mad Ragna? XD 4. I member. XD 3. Throw that Useless (But he's/she's actually smart and we need him/her in order for our company to survive) Employing off the window! >:( Great List as always Adam. :D
My #1 villain has to be a borb who betrayed us all. He goes by the name of Magolor. I don't care if he doesn't seem as deep as any other villains. He's just great and I love him.
To be fair, unless I missed something, wasn't the black beast more or less an accident? Even Terumi didn't want the black beast to happen. He even had to team up with the other 5 heroes just to kill the damn thing.
I understand and didn't mean to accost you or something. It's just that lately, I don't think we ever see QG make mention of what happened in CF... I understand if he wants others to enjoy the story itself instead of getting spoiled, even if it's as he said, the story is kind of a jumbled mess. No hard feelings.
it really is a jumbled mess. and don't worry, it takes ALOT to get under my skin. Anyway, that is all from Continuum Shift, which is the 2nd of the 4 games. CF is the 4th and last game
He didn’t exactly have a choice in doing that. He was sort of mind controlled and bound into a host body into helping them. Which is why as soon as that was lifted, he Boundary-shanked Nine and almost did the same to Trinity had she not sealed her soul into the Muchōrin.
Everyone will probably think I'm strange but when it comes to the megaman entry i honestly perfer the battle network games over the other Megaman games
Here's my top ten (I'm late, but I think it doesn't matter) 10. Bowser (Mario) 9. King K. Cool (DK) 8. Captain Razorbeard (Rayman) 7. Dr. Wily (I think we now, who that guy is) 6. Dr. Neo Cortex (Crash Bandicoot) 5. King DeDeDe (Kirby) 4. Ganondorf (Zelda) 3. Flowey (Undertale) 2. Dr. Ivo Robotnik (Sonic) 1. Dr. Nefaurios (Ratchet and Clank)
Surprised the Aparoid Queen from Star Fox: Assault, The Enchantress from Shovel Knight, Zero from the Kirby franchise, DJ Octavio from Splatoon, and Ridley from the Metroid franchise didn't make the list.
A kind of obscure favorite of mine is Elpizo from Megaman Zero 2. What I enjoy is that you really get to see him progress from this well-intentioned albeit warmongering member of the Resistance to basically the next Sigma after one fatal mistake dooms his entire team and pushes him over the edge with guilt and hatred. His lore is poorly explained in the game and the final boss fight with him is underwhelming, but his character arc actually makes him my favorite of the four main villains of the Zero games.
1 of my favorites has to be Lord Vortech from LEGO Dimensions, he is like Eggman but more manipulative, he even calls himself ''i am not even on the chess board, i am the hand who moves all the pieces''
Good point but I hear about Fawful more because of Fawful's minion. Even QG knows him. I can't to see minion's reaction when he sees that Fawful is not on the list at all!
If you want an example of a tragic villain then I point you to Fire Emblem. Lyon (FE8), Alvis (FE4) and [Walking Spoiler] (FE10) are great examples of a tragic villain.
Wiegraf Folles from Final Fantasy Tactics is still one of my favorite villains (at least before a certain event) simply because he's largely the villain only because you're on the opposing side, and he's fighting for what he believes in.
Is it all right if I suggest an idea for a future countdown? My idea is a top 10 worst villains list. As in the villains you feel did a poor job in their role as the antagonist and source of conflict in the story. Whether it's because their motivations were flimsy or don't make sense, they fail to pose a real threat or achieve anything, they make stupid and obvious mistakes, or some other reason. I'm a big fan of your work and I just thought it was an interesting idea that could make for a fun countdown video.
Your point about the Number 6 and 1 entries is really interesting. Frankly speaking, I DESPISE Master Xehanort for the shit he pulls across eleven years of in-universe time in the Kingdom Hearts series, but the man makes suck an effective villain that it tends to lead to some of the most epic boss fights in the history of the industry (specifically the final battle of KH2) and when the time eventually comes to put him down for good, it will be one of THE most satisfying (and likely difficult, given this series's track record for cheap bosses) of all time.... You know, when KH3 eventually comes out.
When it comes to Terumi/Hazama, there's another thing I could add to him, at least he is more interesting then Izanami. Sorry, I found her a boring villain. Also, "GEESE-SU!...."
Some villains are so generic Take over the world or universe, destroy things, destroy something only to remake it into something else Yawn Good thing there are some villains that are interesting Some aren't even from games I've seen Anime villains that are pretty cool
His motive is actually interesting. Personal Freedom. It’s selfish, it’s cruel and he would bring ruin to everything, but what he desires is to be free from the influences, desires, interventions and power of others. He hates Amaterasu because everything he does adheres to her design, he hates the world for being so pathetic yet also having the capacity to tie him down and threaten him. He hates the reliance on Takamagahara to stay in existence.
An excellent list...definitely one of the best I've seen. Some of my favorite video game villains are Nightmare (Soul Calibur), Scarecrow (Arkham), Juri Han (Street Fighter), Xehanort (Kingdom Hearts), and Hades (Kid Icarus Uprising).
11:02 Ah yues, Dr Regal. The first video game villain that I really had to work to defeat. And the first one that I understood his motives and thought "This guy is freaking nuts"
A villain archetype that I really like is one that wants to do what's best but does it in the wrong way and is blinded by one specific thing they want to protect. A good example would be Lygen from Chaos Wars.
I can think of a few you might've omitted for various reasons QG and I'd like to know why that is: Shao Khan (Mortal Kombat), M. Bison (Street Fighter), Albert Wesker (Resident Evil) and Ridley (Metroid)
I was surprised to see a villain from the Battle Network series on here. That series seems to get a lot of flack, especially that villain's debut game.
I was both hoping and expecting Xehanort to at least be on the HMs. But it's nice to see Mr. Regal as high as Number 4! Love when I see characters from series I know but rarely hear from others.
One of my favorites, if not favorite has to be Dr. Weil from Mega Man Zero. He is responsible for most issues in the series (and ZX following), he is smart enough to bring himself from banished to righthand man to the full top of leadership easily, got Omega as a weapon and then you get to the end. He has one of the best final bosses ever (yes, better than Omega) with major story beats. Zero’s final monologue before he removes the tyrant from the equation for decades to come makes Weil and his impact so great
Opinions: 10: Haven't played any Layton games so I have nothing to say 9: Ah yes, the best villain not named Ghetsis 8: You expected it to be Kefka or Sephiroth, BUT IT WAS I, KUJA! Also, Kuja is such a good and tragic villain 7: Excuse me why aren't he, Eggman, and Kuja higher?! 6: Ah yes, the comedy and intimidating villain 5: Never played BlazBlue but his trollface is too good 4: I prefer Sigma 3: Never played Xenoblade so I have nothing to say but I do say Asgore is a better sympathetic villain 2: Ah yes, the fourth wall breaker and entertaining villain 1: WHY ISN'T IT GHETSIS?!
10. Jean Descole - You make this series sound so awesome!
9. Ivo Eggman Robotnik - I 100% agree!
8. Kuja - I prefer Kefka, but Kuja is a great villain!
7. Ganondorf Dragmire - All of my yes!!
6. GlaDOS - This is just creation creation at its best!
5. Yuuki Hazama Terumi - I think he was made as a message. And I love him all over!

4. GLaDOS (Portal)
3. Hades (Kid Icarus: Uprising)
2. Kefka (Final Fantasy VI)
1. You (Undertale's Genocide Route)
Price Lyon of Grado. The most depressing and tragic deconstruction of the "always someone better" and "self depreciation" tropes ever seen. Helps that he's no slouch in combat.
lyon a villain? nah
But QG, how could you not mention Terumi's biggest play? He broke the Takamagahara's ass with the power of mathematics!
Forget that.

Matt Roberge these villains and many other moments are what make super paper mario a fantastic game. ( and probably the last good one)
Try danganronpa. That series has AMAZING characters and the villains are great as well.
Count Bleck is so great and memorable, absolutely above Bowser

Izanami IS Boring, So Thank God Terumi's The Big Bad, Cause He's FAR More Interesting
Does Anyone remember the Terumi Joke in the old QG Countdowns ?
Ok are we sure that yukei termei isn't the father of junko enshima
Scarlet soltice
I could see because the both of them want to fill the world with despair.
Y'know, just by reading the description, I found two WANO references before I even hit play.
And the first one that I understood his motives and thought "This guy is freaking nuts"
when I heard gluttony fang, I was scared that Hazama was gonna be on the list. I knew how much you hate him QG.
I'm pretty sure we'll hear Alex at some point in this video...
Another video well done QG! Very excited for the next top 10!
Before watching, Robbie Rotten is number one
if he included all media i could predict a bunch of yugioh villians Z-one merik bakura nash vector yuri sora (maybe) and fujiwara yusuke
I'm proud of you. Would you like to join the Endangered Meme Preservation Committee?
I wanna join too!
Me
Shut up and take my money
Ye
Yeah, why not!
Was that footage from the BlazBlue anime?
+The Quarter guy would you say the Positive reactions to Geese's trailer was...PREDICTABLE?
8:31 burrrrrrrrrrrn
Villains I like in Video Games is Airy from Bravely Default, Cyrille Le Paradox from Sly 4, and Valentine from Skullgirls
So Hades in Kid Icarus is Terumi but competently written?
A villain archetype that I really like is one that wants to do what's best but does it in the wrong way and is blinded by one specific thing they want to protect. A good example would be Lygen from Chaos Wars.
I can think of a few you might've omitted for various reasons QG and I'd like to know why that is: Shao Khan (Mortal Kombat), M. Bison (Street Fighter), Albert Wesker (Resident Evil) and Ridley (Metroid)
If we lived in a world with villains like these, it would be a marked improvement.
They probably do live in our world as humans.
How could you put the GREAT DR. EGGMAN SO LOW!?
I knew Hades was going to show up....... how could he not?
Bruh, you completely neglected that Terumi's actually the consciousness of the god Susano'o.
DUDE! SPOILERS!
10:38 Have people forgotten that Star Force is a thing?
do a countdown of kof characters
Now look at this vid that I just found. When I say “go”, be ready to watch. Go!
Now watch and learn. Here's the deal. Just slip and slide on this banana peel.
*Shows Mario Kart footage of the Banana Peel doing its thing*
Ha ha ha-
*racer goes into own banana peel*
*shriek* What are you doing!?
SuperGoker64 "watch the video, not porn!"
Wait... Ganondorf has a surname?
+KnightSpark Yeah, it was recently re-confirmed on Nintendo's Zelda site.
I was surprised to see a villain from the Battle Network series on here. That series seems to get a lot of flack, especially that villain's debut game.
Honestly, my favorite villain in videogames would probably be a toss-up between Egil from Xenoblade Chronicles, and Guzma, from Pokemon Sun and Moon.
“...these kinda shower thoughts...”
Hey man, good nerds don’t take showers.
Two words. Handsome Jack
*sigh* and no mention of Danganronpa for anyone who loves Junko and her absolute Despair talent.
That last segment got too real.
...And I like it.
Funny thing some time after this Geese is coming to Tekken 7
I know, right? The man gets around.
Zero’s final monologue before he removes the tyrant from the equation for decades to come makes Weil and his impact so great
and now Geese is coming to Tekken 7... God damn what did he do to the mishima family
Opinions:
10: Haven't played any Layton games so I have nothing to say
9: Ah yes, the best villain not named Ghetsis
8: You expected it to be Kefka or Sephiroth, BUT IT WAS I, KUJA! Also, Kuja is such a good and tragic villain
7: Excuse me why aren't he, Eggman, and Kuja higher?!
6: Ah yes, the comedy and intimidating villain
5: Never played BlazBlue but his trollface is too good
4: I prefer Sigma
3: Never played Xenoblade so I have nothing to say but I do say Asgore is a better sympathetic villain
2: Ah yes, the fourth wall breaker and entertaining villain
1: WHY ISN'T IT GHETSIS?!
