I think that the keyblades change because of the Keychain that Sora likely makes with knick nacks from the worlds he visits, while Donald and Goofy are using actual weapons.
It's a shame you didn't do hit effects for these, especially for the Dream Rod and Dream Shield that have really cool ones. I know it'd be painful to try and capture it.
Actually, curious enough, I heard someone saying that Sora's Ultima Weapon's core resembles a bit the dream sword, since, from all the other keyblades, Ultima actually has a sword in it. I think it is pretty cool that eventually, one way or another, all awakening weapons come back to Sora's party after all
The Defended shield was always my favorite shield as a kid, I loved that you could get this as a drop, and I would always think to myself as I fought the heartless these come from “I HIT YOU WITH YOUR OWN WEAPON”. 😂 I also like the Save-The weapons, they look really nice. The Seven Elements shield definitely looks nett r in my childhood memories than it does now, but I think if they remade it with the Unreal Engine and Kingdom shaders, it would probably look badass.
The fact that you distinguish between the different shield variant by referencing real life shield types is an astounding attention to detail which I highly appreciate. Well done

i personally never unlocked or even knew abt the seven elements from KH1. kinda flipped when i saw it and did a double take. awesome vid brought me back to playing KH1

Fantasista is an italian term,in soccer it roughly translate to playmaker, in theater it refers to an artist well versed in humorism,singing,dancing,improvisation and so on...,a very rounded artist. The word has the word Fantasia,imagination as its root, it conveys the image of a someone creative in the highest sense,someone that can charm you with that,such a feeling. Very fitting term for the highest level magician,considering all the implicit meaning.
I think I prefer the Dream weapons over the Save Weapons. Their simple designs and color schemes work well for the first game and they look great paired with the Kingdom Key.
List of weapons I normally get in KH1: Donald Duck: Morning Star, Sliver Mallet, Magus Staff, Lord Fortune, Dream Rod and Save the Queen. Goofy: Stout Shield, Smasher or Mythril Shield, Herc's Shield, Massive Bumber or Dream Shield or VII Elements for fun and Save the King. Really the Magus Staff and Herc's Shield get a lot done in the game until End of the World. Side note: Wished they give Ariel the Trident and Jack Skellington the Soul Whip to fight with
The meteor strike is a reference to FF7. Adamant Shield is a reference to the Adamantoise Shields from Final Fantasy, same with Mythryl, Genji, Defender.
One of the last trophies I had to unlock in Final Mix was Master Defender, awarded for getting all of Goofy’s shields. I was killing the Defenders in Hollow Bastion for two and a half hours (not counting the story segments) before the first one FINALLY dropped. In that same time I had acquired no less than six Wizard’s relics. I know they’re SUPPOSED to have the same drop rate, but it really didn’t feel like that at the time.
Dream Sword isn't properly obtainable, but it *is* sort of obtainable. KH1 Ultima Weapon, if you look closely, has something very close to the Dream Sword inside of it.
Generally, I like to give Donald his MP boosting staves and Goofy the large, high recoil shields. I feel like this best plays to their strengths. But I dunno, what about other players? Do you guys think Donald's hammers can be useful? The last time I played the game, I got Wizard's Relic and Defender as my very last weapons. They were outclassed by then, which is a bummer, because I think they look cool and the concept of taking enemy weapons for your own use is an interesting one (expanded upon in Kingdom Hearts II). I find the designs for Save the Queen and Save the King a little underwhelming in this game, but the new designs they have gotten in each numbered game have just gotten better and better. Final thoughts, I just wanna give a quick shoutout to Seven Elements. It’s kind of a silly weapon design, but I do like the visual representations of each magic element. And yeah giving Goofy this shield is great for getting the most out of MP Gift!
I sometimes like to do a Cleric Build with Donald, stacking his Defense and setting him to only use support Magic, using his Hammers for Offense. With that being said, I'm 50% sure that the Grand Mallet is totally useless, because it has little to no time to use before the Violetta comes in.
I actually did a playthrough where I focused on Donald and Goofy's Strength weapons. It worked out surprisingly well. Donald ran out of MP quicker, but he was of more use when he was out of MP.
This sounds like one of those "Hey maybe I should do it" but nah you would do it better. What if you reviewed all the command menus? Or maybe the premade Gummiships Like Donald and Goofy's weapons they are all things we have strong feelings about... but never had the motivation to say aloud
10:38 massive doesn't naccesairly imply large, just dense. That shield could very well be massive, as it could have a high mass without taking up much physical space.
I wish Donald and Goofy also got world Specific Weapons. Like how Sora gets world specific keyblades, so it feels odd that they don't get unique world inspired Shields or staffs...fanfic artists! To your drawing Tablets!

I miss how you can actually make Donald and goofy put in WORK if you mess with their setting and abilities. My Donald was a pure white mage and goofy would just deflect whatever you threw at him
Goofy just became a spare MP reserve for Sora for me. In many boss fights I'd just turn of his and other character abilities except MP gift so that Sora had more magic to spare. Goofy is far more useful for this reason against the Phantom boss in Neverland compared to Donald who often uses the wrong spell or casts the same one just as Sora is about to.
Honestly, you're probably on a higher difficulty if you need goofy to run something after the genji sheild, so most players would assume that's his final weapon. I know I did. Now if you excuse me, I need to go grind out the dream sheild because damnit I want it.

I think that Donald and Goofy should have had some weapons inspired by the worlds in the game. Herc's Shield fits the bill.

In KH3, I'm pretty sure at least two of goofy's weapons do reflect the worlds you travel to; the anchor and the sheriff star.

Mighty Shield / Massive Bumper is a pinball machine bumper.
So while the shield itself isn't very big, it is certainly big for a pinball bumper.
Defender Shield is so sick dude, legit is a contender for my favorite weapon in the series.

Donald and Good having worse stats and weapons in later games is punishment for their betrayal in KH1

Most of the "basic" weapons have names that reference other weapons in Final Fantasy, not just the Genji shield.

Agreed! I also think the staff may be a nod to Fantastia, the movie from the 1940s.

I love how Donald has the option to use strength and not just magic since he's canonically more a physical fighter than magic.

Donald is more of a physical fighter/berserker in canon so I prefer his physical attacks than magic.
