You know, I would say this is a surprisingly controversial topic for this channel, but at this point I don’t think anyone’s gonna defend what EA has been doing besides EA themselves
It's surprising it took this long for pay-to-win practices to face this large of a backlash. I'm guessing the EA and Star Wars combo made it a big target for everyone to voice their frustration.
It not so much the pay-to-win practices being as bad as they seem, per say. It's more about the parties involved with this incident. Star Wars fans have exceedingly high expectations when it has the name STAR WARS on it (i.e. The Last Jedi backlash). In games, they expected it to be similar to Battlefront II (Classic, 2005). A unique campaign, access to all heroes, a wide variety of maps, and a wide variety of combat types (On-Foot FPS, Vehicular, and Space Combat). They expected everything to be unrestricted from the boot-up first-time. EA had the unfortunate, albeit self-inflicted, decision of placing microtransactions. If anything could have justified the decision to them, an example would be the success of their biggest potential rival in the market, OverWatch. A game that managed to incorporate, albeit unnecessary, microtransactions, yet still achieve massive commercial and critical acclaim with minimal scrutiny. EA was most likely trying to emulate that successful formula, but used the wrong licensed franchise to do it with, and did it the absolute worst way possible with said franchise. Still EA's fault, but they had beneficial intentions for making long-term payoff, again, like games such as OverWatch accomplished.
Yeah, it's not like P2W is new. The EA hate bugs me though, because I was on that bandwagon since they ruined Ultima and NOW people decide to join. As for the Star Wars element, I ignore that entirely because the fan wank is far too strong to have a sane civil discussion with anyone about the franchise. You know people hated the EU before Disney killed it?
EA have been warned by the reactions of limited beta players about the overly aggressive MTx / LootBoxes. But EA deliberately choose to ignores it. So yeah, EA brought this upon themselves.
"You can't make a game in Star Wars that violates the cannon of Star Wars"... Then why do they let you be Vader as a Hero for the CIS on Naboo in the New Battlefront II.......

I can see some of that reflected into the Battlefront 2 campaign, especially with that dialogue involving Shriv or whatever his name is.

Plenty of execs and employees across many different companies sometimes use casual language in interviews and press releases. That isn't really a problem. The problem would be if EA stated that they weren't listening at all or didn't care (Not to say they're entirely squeaky clean) like many of Konami's execs. That would have been genuinely unprofessional and more worrisome.
While we aren't shown a lot in the video, The context appears to an interview on a couch, not an in company meeting with investors or similar scenarios. So Peter Moore being casual when discussing the negative accolades EA got there is no different from say, Ashraf Ismail (Head of Ubisoft's AC Origins) talking about criticisms they've addressed from prior titles in a chill way with reporters, or other figures in prominent positions of other companies responding like this. I don't see it as being inappropriate. He is admitting that the company's track record is flawed to the public in a somewhat formal environment. (Which isn't common in a lot of companies). Could he have been more articulate and more formal with his speech? Sure. But that doesn't make him unprofessional. (Also, I personally find it more convincing that Moore was being at least somewhat genuine here with that language. Many other companies use long and business-like statements that often sound so artificial and scripted [like how many EA employees responded prior to SWBF2's launch about how insignificant loot boxes will be]. Moore's more "on the spot response" seemed like he was at least somewhat like "yeah, we really made some mistakes" instead of just reading off a script about how "we will all improve".)

Dude, you have *no* idea, Compucles. Look up the list of video game companies EA has shut down sometime, it reads like a corporate version of a virus pandemic, spreading, infesting, and destroying everything it contaminates at an exponentially increasing rate.

You can't avoid a bad ISP; because of the monopolies, you are often forced to stick with them or take a service that's so much slower that it can affect your job. In all honesty, the Consumerist polls probably were overwhelmingly voted on by high school and college age students; if all of them were in the adult world, it'd be a totally different story.
except a massive amount of gamers who buy one game a year usually an EA game. that means fewer sales of consoles and in general a massive crippling hit to gaming as a whole
yeah, the guy who they send to conferences looks like thee best example in the world of someone who sits in a room with old as fuck guys and says "ok, so how canwe fuck up the consumer even *more*?"
The Switch conference when they had the giant EA logo in red and black only to have some James Bond villain looking dude show up to represent EA. It was quite the image.
"Hi yes i'd like to report an ongoing crime, EA tried to rape my wallet... and everyone elses and dear god I don't think the attacks will stop anytime soon.. I'm scared for my favourite franchises life, pls.. halp"
al112v5 Pandemic was closed down by EA when their last game (The Saboteur, I believe) received lukewarm reception and mediocre sales, in which EA had some unreal expectations with its performance. A very similar fate happened to Visceral.
in Visceral's case was EA's own fault for trying to make Visceral make a generic shooter experience out of a game that wasn't about that, Dead space 2 sold way more than 1 and EA kept pushing Visceral towards a military shooter angle stripping the studio of their own liberty because some dumb excec probably masturbated at the sights of graphs saying how much the teens were liking military shooters.
- Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth EA the Greed? - ...No. - I thought not. It’s not a story other developers would tell you. It's a business legend. Darth EA the Greed was a gaming publisher, so cheap and so greedy that it could use the microtransactions to create...profit. It had such a knowledge of underhanded business tactics, it could even buy out its competition. - It could actually buy out competition? - Underhanded tactics are a way to many profits some consider to be wrong. - What happened to it? - EA became so wealthy... the only thing it feared was losing its wealth, which, of course, eventually it did. Unfortunately, it pissed off the consumers, and the consumers killed it in its complacency. How Ironic. EA could get more money than any other publisher, but yet not enough to buy the opinion of the gamers. - Is it possible to learn this power? - Not from a good company.
regimoos 486 To be fair I'm a F2P player all the way with no interest in climbing the ranked ladder... So I don't feel the weight of the loot boxes like competitive players.
Great summery! One thing I missed was that as a reaction to people canceling their preorders of Star Wars Battlefront 2, EA removed the "cancel preorder-button" on their website so people had to call in and wait in a cue to cancel their order.
I do agree with the "gambling" idea of micros-transactions over the very recent years. No I'm not sour because I'm poor, I'm just sick of people taking the fun and accomplishment of the game by paying full price for it, only to spend MORE money to unlock everything they need. Accomplishment by spending dollar after dollar? Or accomplishment by reaching your goal with hard work and dedication? You think speedrunners throw dollar after dollar to reach world record? Or that they practice and work hard, re-playing the game over and over until they get world record time? The whole microtransaction crap is bullshit. I missed the games like Halo 3 where you get a certain achievement or score/rank and they give you a katana or hayabusa helmet which was the real feeling of accomplishment. You know why? Because you worked for that hard skin! Not worked another job just to pay for the damn thing. If I spend money on a full priced game, I better get the FULL game. I'm not paying extra fucking money just to get something that should already be in the game I literally just paid for.
IMKevin117 - Animations/Gameplays its bullshit and it is a sad direction gaming has taken. But I fear it is the future as more and more companies jump on the bandwagon as unfortunately it works as players keep buying them...
a handful of players buy them in bulk. the so called 'whales'. however the more invasive they get the more of the people who either only buy them occassionally, or never, will avoid the game and degrade it.
Such a shame.. uncharted star wars edition sounds amazing.. and to Respawn, goodnight sweet prince you had a good run, but after your first game for EA fails to perform because everyone hates them now, you'll be dissolved just like the last 15 devs that EA have acquired. Someone, ANYONE pls stop them!
Jack Spiring I remember reading one comment that despite him being a PS4 owner, would rather be happy if Microsoft got them instead. What do you think? Would Respawn Ent be better off with Microsoft than EA?
look at forza motorsport and gears of war 4.. microsoft ruined it with lootboxes. gameplay of those games are awesome, thats probably the only reason they didnt get that much hate.. yet.
It was a bummer, sure, but if you seriously think that’s worse than the progression/loot system then you’ve got some priorities to rearrange there kiddo. It wasn’t unexpected though, I had my hunches about it from the trailers and development videos. Especially the ones about motion capture and the characters.
what ya mean man, we got a ton of diversity from EA! We got a bunch of shitty mobile games, uhhhhh, battlefront 2015 with 80% of content locked, uhhh we got battlefront 2 with p2w lootboxes, and uhhhhhhh, we getting star wars battlefront 3 in 2 years where they just hook you up to a torture device when you wanna play it.
its sad to admit but I dont remember that, never played kotor just missed my generation so I haven't known a single decent star wars game. And if this controversy isn't enough reason to take the license out of EA's incapable, downright sleazy hands, I don't think I ever will see one :/
The closest we have is "The Old Republic Online," but it's only a matter of time before EA kills that game since it's Free to Play, and therefore, not profitable.
I'm happy to see Belgium receiving some game-related coverage! It was the right decision to raise the public's eyebrows on the covert casino that is lootboxes.
I can understand the shut down of Visceral because it is in California. California is expensive. Everything you lay your eyes on we pay a tax for. There s tons of companies leaving the State because of the taxes and it sucks for us regular folk because we are losing jobs here by the thousands even as the governor keeps raising our taxes and conveniently his pay raise. But EA shutting down Pandemic was horrible. They made so many great games before, I can only imagine what they would have made if they were still a company.
why are we not pointing the finger at disney? they cancelled awesome possible star wars projects, and got rid of more than like half the cannon. no one really likes the new movies, and it seems to be all around disapointing since then, so i blame disney
George Lucas wanted the villain of that game to be "Darth Stinky." I am NOT going to beatify Lucas because the New Guard is doing EXACTLY what he himself would've done.
7:58 we now know that Ragtag eventually became Jedi: Fallen Order. Interesting to see how the game transitioned from blaster combat to lightsaber combat.
Sorry. I know. I was just being a f*cker. Lol. I guess I thought it was funny. However, I do appreciate you taking the time to write a response. It was virtuous and thoughtful of you and I'm sure I'm not the only one who thought so. 👍
So something good actually came from EA's greed?? Games with Lootbox type gambling will most likely be banned from countries that don't allow gambling (like the US, for instance). That's great! Less micro transactions, and more finished games like we use to freaking have.
Inuranchan I know people like to give it shit, but the Wii was the last system where devs had to release their games complete without bs dlc and I'm grateful for it.
The Wii was also literally 90% shovel-ware, which could barely be considered games. In any case, to get around the Lootbox fiasco, devs are most likely going to make it so it's generally the same system, but the percentages and number(s) of what exact item(s) are in each tier of 'box' are going to available to see. It's like that in either South Korea or China, for example. It's a way to get around their own gambling laws.
And the companies that sold shovelware got bad sales for it. While the good games sold really well. But now everyone can make a shitty game and the fans will be like "It 1snt di ful geim, thei ar going to reles dai wan patch". People can be so naive these days.
Valanway Theres always been a percentage of winning when it comes to gambling. Regardless, what works in China may not work everywhere. If it was that easy to get around gambling laws, why was the change corner completely removed from the Pokémon series? There wasn't even actual money involved in that case, like there is lootboxes
Barry Bend I know what you're supposed to do I play both games. TF2 is free I didn't have to pay anything for that, it's a fun game to fool around in. Overwatch was $60 for the Game of the Year edition. Only to be given a few cosmetics and 10 loot boxes that gave me crap. As I said before I'd rather unlock cosmetics like what DOOM 2016 had done. Made more of a badass because I earned it through skill. Not luck.
Sadly that's enough to get people to buy stuff. Aesthetics with a load of bullshit key words. People are so dumb and too eager to believe it will be like they imagine. It's not EAs fault we keep coming back for seconds.
I am boycotting EA, Activision, and Take Two. All scum in my opinion. Sad that Red Dead Redemption 2 is going to be filled to the brim with microtransactions if it is anything like GTA V.
What's funny is they believe they can get away with lootboxes because of how bad they get away with it in galaxy of heroes, and nobody says shit about how bad that one is.
Its obvious that EA do not know how to make games. The developers like BioWare and the late Visceral did and they shine like a beacon, but it’s when EA sticks their nose into things that things head south. They’re more interested in finding ways of making as much money as possible while spending as little as possible; that’s not how a video game company should be run. A video game company’s number one focus should be making quality games, zero monetisation, no cutting corners and no prioritising graphics over gameplay. If a game is fun, quirky, has good characters, has good story, has good music, etc. etc. then gamers will buy it and love it. If a game must be delayed to ensure quality, by all means, take as much time as you need, never think about microtransactions as the main selling point of a game, unless it’s a free game, players paid their fare when buying the game, never expect them to pony up more dough and most importantly: treat your developers and player base with respect and they’ll do the same in return.
You mean a single player short as hell with a shit story with no effort, shitty AI that coulden't do shit taking the challenge out of it making it seem like more of a walking simulator
Sans tube yeah its funny because i put it in the hardest difficulty but after a while i had to check if i had actually put it in the hardest difficulty because it was so fucking easy, sometimes you could escape from the soldiers and enter another par of the mission
The First two games had much more content and operators, it was actually finished with many maps and planets, EA battlefront is garbage only a few maps, star cards making it unfair for other depending what they got. The single player was crap NPC were in autism mod.
1:27 "You can't take something from the future and bring it into the past." *2 YEARS LATER...* (Battlefront 2 E3 Demo) (Han Solo fighting Darth Maul in Theed Palace) Good Job, EA.
And they ruined Porsche by sitting on the exclusive license for years back in the day too. EA has a long history of this shit. They are the last company that should ever get fully exclusive deals over brand or IP rights being adapted into video games, yet they seem to get it the most... Nothing good ever comes of it.
Hilariously the line Chris Lee said immediately after the end of your quote was "It's a trap." Top notch speech writing to insert a quote in Star Wars about bad things happening to make your point about a bad thing happening with Star Wars.
case cao If they throw enough money, damn right. But I'd still plan for a way out, and a back up Indy title for when they screw me over. They throw even more money at me, they can have the back up title as well.
Good video! Just a slight correction, Return of the Jedi was not filmed in Yuma, or even Arizona for that matter. It was filmed in the Imperial Sand Dunes in Southern California's Imperial Valley. Yuma is about 30-45 minutes away. It's just a longstanding incorrect fact that keeps getting put out there. No biggie, keep on keeping on!
Whenever EA puts out a statement on how they'll make things better or how they are all for the gamers and gaming, I instantly think of Luke saying: "Amazing. Everything you just said is wrong."
So sad...this game (battlefront II) was actually fun to play, and it got a lot of good feedback from the trailers and the fixes from the first game before they fucked it up with almost forced micro transactions in order to progress. It’s not that bad of a game now that the micro transactions are turned off, but fuck man you had to ruin a to-be good game with your greedy, dirty fucking tactics? I wish someone else had taken the Star Wars license. I’d literally take anyone at this point over EA
Episode 1: Podracing, Dark Forces, Shadows of the Empire, Any/all of the Jedi Academy games, there are quite a few gems, some are more polished than others.
To the people who say SWBF2 is good outside of the Lootboxes and Microtransactions and progression system no its not. The story sucks and so do most of the characters and the games too short. EA (no doubt having decided on to with Disney) lied about the single player campaign to put in something infuriating and predictable. It goes against the canon. Its bad all over.
It's funny how the loot boxes in star wars have caused this much upheaval but EA enticing kids to spend their parents money on every years new FIFA ultimate team building the same squads they cant basically make themselves. ULTIMATE TEAM IS A JOKE. Much less so now, its a little more generous to attain packs of cards but still. When it came out etc... Bullshit!
If your company get bought out by EA. Quit before they can contract you on a project. If you get interviewed for your next job and asked why you quit. Simply say EA bought out the studio. And knowing nods will be exchanged.
Can we stop "micro transactions" in videogames??? Nothing is more annoying than knowing that someone has the upper hand just because they had some pocket change left over from their parents debit cards. Like seriously, work hard play hard. Not pay hard to be "good" Skill cones from within not from the fucking wallet
You know, I would say this is a surprisingly controversial topic for this channel, but at this point I don’t think anyone’s gonna defend what EA has been doing besides EA themselves
Avossk You can be surprised, I have seen people defend EA saying the Microtrasaction is just " "optional"
Avossk I thought it was going to be a shitty emotional video but it turned out great since it focused on facts.
I honestly think the ones defending EA are either the rich or employees in disguise doing damage control on social media places.
Well there are a few uncle Tom gamers that will defend EA using horrible arguments lmao
this channel has gone full clickbait

Maybe it's Vader right after he kills Palpatine.
There are cross era heroes because they didn't have enough heroes at launch for all maps/eras.
Or even in 2015 Jen Erso on Endor and storm troopers with shield generators
Josh Sinclair Except Vader dies seconds after killing Palpatine.
That's obviously for fun and gameplay reasons like a mixmatch. That's not actually canon AT ALL, and you know that already.

It’s a shame. DICE is a great developer and 2017 Battlefront II was shaping up to be a great game if it wasn’t for EA’s overwhelming greed.
It doesn't help DICE's case either when they've said several times that they literally cannot do single player stories.

"You said PROFIT???" - EA
And some improved A.I would make it twice as better
This is why we play _LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga_ kids.
That game is good
Thank god EA hasn't been able to touch the LEGO games.
Don't forget Lego Star Wars 3: The Clone Wars and Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga is best Star Wars game....Change my mind.
@@tiffany-chan1235 Cool It's My Favorite Too
Jesus Christ. EA's micro-managing legitimately ruins games AND developers. If they suddenly imploded, nothing would be lost.
+Scerttle well, except for which companies get their IP's (Mass Effect, Dragon Age, etc.)
i think its a little late for that.
except a massive amount of gamers who buy one game a year usually an EA game. that means fewer sales of consoles and in general a massive crippling hit to gaming as a whole
Watch before it gets taken down
DecXa kind of shocking tone for a dykg video, would not be surprised if they eventually take it down.
It's a factually correct title though
Doesn't really help that every EA executive looks like a super villain.
yeah, the guy who they send to conferences looks like thee best example in the world of someone who sits in a room with old as fuck guys and says "ok, so how canwe fuck up the consumer even *more*?"
Phosphorus White And their brains are rotten tomatoes
The Switch conference when they had the giant EA logo in red and black only to have some James Bond villain looking dude show up to represent EA. It was quite the image.
Here’s a little lesson in thievery, this is going down in history!
Queen Sectonia My thoughts exactly. The CEO looked like Robbie's more rotten long lost sibling!
EA has ruined every video game they have touched Command and Conquer being my own personal grudge against them.
rip so many good franchises
Mine as well.
Tiberium 4 was worse than colon cancer.
EA is the True destroyer of worlds, video game series gone in an instant because of those shits
C&C, Wing Commander, Plants vs Zombies,... The List goes on and on.
rip westwood studios
EA looks like they're proudly defending their title as Worst Company of the Year for another several years.
Breaks my heart that they would do that to Amy Henning. Just goes to show that EA cares not about talent and creativity, but money.
Wow I had no idea that EA shut down pandemic, Thanks for destroying the studio that was a staple of my childhood
Weird Shark Spread the word. #EArapedmychildhood
#NeverforgetPandemic
"Hi yes i'd like to report an ongoing crime, EA tried to rape my wallet... and everyone elses and dear god I don't think the attacks will stop anytime soon.. I'm scared for my favourite franchises life, pls.. halp"
Didn't Pandemic disappear by their own fault?
al112v5 Pandemic was closed down by EA when their last game (The Saboteur, I believe) received lukewarm reception and mediocre sales, in which EA had some unreal expectations with its performance.
If you still have Christmas money, buy the original Battlefront 2 on Steam. You will not regret it.
Just came off of Galactic Conquest. It is the best thing possible to be honest.
And republic commando

EA is the Empire of gaming.
sn95mustang wot
But Empire did nothing wrong.
Not true. EA is far, far worse.
More like the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Money-mongering, evil bigots that take over studios like the Trade Federation takes over planets.
EA = the _true_ Dark Side
Sense of pride and accomplishment
They were talking about themselves for ripping people off.
PollyGlodd Probably
When you feel so proud and accomplished for dropping 1.5k on their game. Wow that's truly inspiring!
Talon The Retro Gamer I feel nothing but emptiness and depression. Sense of pride and accomplishment my ass

and to sum it up: how EA destroyed every company they bought
Did you know? Loot Boxes are the cancer of videogames.
*video ends*
I don't mind Hearthstone's, but maybe that's because I already expect a card game to have randomized packs.
LoL is pretty good about it, with only cosmetic items being dropped by them.
Injustice 2 has a decent loot box system I think. Gives a good balance between usefulness and cosmetic
regimoos 486 To be fair I'm a F2P player all the way with no interest in climbing the ranked ladder...
Arvid Olson Actually it turns out they didn't remove it
TheMightySwooj oh! Is that so? I didn’t actually see it myself, only forwarding from others on reddit so don’t take my word! :)
As far as I know there never was a refund button on their website.
I know its so stupid and cod games are the worst with this
I always thought Usain Bolt just bought a loot box to be that fast.
Well fucking said, man, well fucking said. I am SO HAPPY that someone else shares my thoughts on this detestable subject.
a handful of players buy them in bulk. the so called 'whales'. however the more invasive they get the more of the people who either only buy them occassionally, or never, will avoid the game and degrade it.
You should make a ‘How EA ruined’ series. I’m sure you’d have plenty of material.
Jakfrost25 they ruined sports games, battlefield( before BF1), and Need for speed
You can dedicate an entire channel to that.
Well I'm an xbox owner and I say hell no! Microsoft are even more useless and money grabbing when in comes to actual games and not consoles I'm afraid
Can you elaborate on why Microsoft is a cash-grabbing company?
Jack Spiring look at RARE! Now they make garbage for the kinect
look at forza motorsport and gears of war 4.. microsoft ruined it with lootboxes. gameplay of those games are awesome, thats probably the only reason they didnt get that much hate.. yet.
Worse thing they did was lie about the story being imperial focused only for you to turn rebel in about 1 hour.
Not really. At all. Even if that was a credible issue, it wouldn't be the worst thing they've done.
It was a bummer, sure, but if you seriously think that’s worse than the progression/loot system then you’ve got some priorities to rearrange there kiddo.
It wasn’t unexpected though, I had my hunches about it from the trailers and development videos. Especially the ones about motion capture and the characters.
l really don’t like playing as the bad guys, especially in Star Wars. Makes me feel dirty
LIPZXNFVCX cause like, growing up as a kid I’ve loved the rebellion so much that shooting rebel soldiers makes me feel horrible
TheDinoSir Well there are people who feel the same about shooting imperials.
"EA did nothing wrong; the gamers are just crying wolf!"
~ Inept new outlets
I boycotted battlefront 2, we as consumers need to take a stand when something is ruining the industry, the more that do it the better
man i remember when there was actually a diversity in star wars games
what ya mean man, we got a ton of diversity from EA!
Yup that was almost 15 years ago.........
its sad to admit but I dont remember that, never played kotor just missed my generation so I haven't known a single decent star wars game. And if this controversy isn't enough reason to take the license out of EA's incapable, downright sleazy hands, I don't think I ever will see one :/
boop bap Is it at least the torture device from Empire Strikes Back?
I miss the rogue squadron saga... It makes me sad that i'll never see a new one
Makes me sad hearing that KOTOR music and knowing we'll never get another Star Wars game like it.
The closest we have is "The Old Republic Online," but it's only a matter of time before EA kills that game since it's Free to Play, and therefore, not profitable.
Better star wars than ep vii to ep ix.
It’s aged like a fine pound of ground beef on the counter out of a container
Josh Sinclair you now have to be a subscriber to use chat which was not the case a year ago!
They made so many great games before, I can only imagine what they would have made if they were still a company.
many people forget that Visceral has always been a part of EA. they started out as EA redsands
An Uncharted-style Star Wars game? I chubbed up a little bit when I heard that. I bet EA would screw it up, though.
EA already did screw it up. That's why we're here now, lol.
Alternate video title: How EA ruined a bunch of gaming studios.
Yeah, the real story here is how EA has been eating good studios for ages and slowly turning them into crap. Like a huge corporate Sarlaac.
Why the hell did those small studios sell out though?
armzngunz There were several hundred millions of reasons.
I like the title because it's the truth. Keep up the good work!
And they dare call those two games Battlefront. They don't even play like the original battlefront games. They should've called them something else.
31Darkstar I completely agree with this.
31Darkstar I hate having to say Battlefront 2 classic.
31Darkstar FrontBattle Dos
Because the originals suck by today's standards? Take the nostalgia goggles off. This game and the last are good
Craptain Falcon at least the old ones were finished games...even if 2 was rushed. And nostalgia would mean I don't still play it today. Try me
The day EA goes bankrupt is the day gaming becomes great again.
Activision, 2K, WB Games and Ubisoft would still be alive though.
Actually, we would be better to not let it di...
Nevermind the beer already lose effect
A C E, if EA dies, all these talanted people will be able to find a better place to work at.
Activision is no better...
There are plenty of already existing studios that could use more manpower. Or, if all else fail, they can gather up and go indie.
why are we not pointing the finger at disney? they cancelled awesome possible star wars projects, and got rid of more than like half the cannon. no one really likes the new movies, and it seems to be all around disapointing since then, so i blame disney
If I was George Lucas I would have said to Disney I'll give you the rights but you have to let us finish 1313 I want that to be apart of the cannon
Why Finnish? Why not Swedish?
George Lucas wanted the villain of that game to be "Darth Stinky." I am NOT going to beatify Lucas because the New Guard is doing EXACTLY what he himself would've done.
Nieroshai Wasn't it Darth Icky?
Dan Eda i appreciate this
The fuck do depressed Scandinavians and military weapons have to do with this shit?
What ruined Star Wars games was Lucasarts being shut down by Disney.
5500somerandomdude I definitely agree with you on that 👻
naa the 2 new star wars films are pretty good unless you are some OT fanboy that forgets the issues the first ones had due to nostalgia.
B Diez the ST is riding on the OT,crait was hoth minus the snow.
pray for respawn, titanfall 2 was so good.
7:58 we now know that Ragtag eventually became Jedi: Fallen Order. Interesting to see how the game transitioned from blaster combat to lightsaber combat.
4:28 Oh thank God! Finally someone who is wearing a cape actually being a hero!
I was so pissed I almost downvoted the video until I remembered that this is not DYN Gaming’s fault.
DYN?
Danny Vasquez I think he meant Did You Know Gaming, but he got the K mixed up with N.
Sorry.
Markell Hawthorne I’m with you on that man.
Overwatch and tf2 only use loot boxes for cosmetic stuff not active characters or better weapons. Unlike EA. #SaveBioware #SaveStarWars
Team fortress 2 is free to play, Overwatch's lootboxes are crap. Just make the DLC purchasable, not something you get at random
I'd rather unlock the cosmetics through achievements while playing, not through loot boxes.
In both games you earn the boxes from play or through some random prerequisite but for tf2 you need to buy or earn keys to unlock them.
Not luck.
Barry Bend I like OW’s lootboxes but in general we all should not use the Just Cosmetic argument as stated by jim sterling.
The revenge of the sith song at the end really made it SO much better. Thank you editor.
The original Battlefront II is by far the best Star Wars game I’ve played, and this explains all of the Battlefront 3 problems.
Pay 20$ to unlock shirtless kylo Ren
Holy Shit, that title! xD
Even though the new battlefronts is pay to win trash, the game looks fuckin beautiful though
Disgusted Dedede even though it isnt pay to win anymore
Sadly that's enough to get people to buy stuff. Aesthetics with a load of bullshit key words. People are so dumb and too eager to believe it will be like they imagine. It's not EAs fault we keep coming back for seconds.
The damage is already done though. And people have finally open their eyes that EA will not learn their lesson.
Boycott EA ! Do not buy EA games. Do not support loot boxes or microtransactions !
I am boycotting EA, Activision, and Take Two. All scum in my opinion. Sad that Red Dead Redemption 2 is going to be filled to the brim with microtransactions if it is anything like GTA V.
I'm doing that already. I bought battlefront 1 only when it was 5 dollars for ultimate edition.
How about Bethesda and Epic Games?

Our community and this video gives me sense of pride and accomplishment
EA has ruined Madden/NBA Mobile,Star Wars,Mass Effect?!?!
What's next?
Plants vs Zombies?
Too late. They already did.
Golden Jokster27 Don't forget they ruined Dead Space.
Sir Sandvich Wait how!?!

FiendIII_Thomas Kaine How?
Sitting on Ceilings That sounds more like it...
Sans tube that’s what happens when you let an ign writer make a story for a video game
Sans tube That's funny, because the first two Battlefront were exactly that...
The First two games had much more content and operators, it was actually finished with many maps and planets, EA battlefront is garbage only a few maps, star cards making it unfair for other depending what they got. The single player was crap NPC were in autism mod.
I love how the first music of the video is just as intense as the topics.

"You can't take something from the future and bring it into the past."
*2 YEARS LATER...*
(Battlefront 2 E3 Demo)
(Han Solo fighting Darth Maul in Theed Palace)
Good Job, EA.
And they ruined Porsche by sitting on the exclusive license for years back in the day too. EA has a long history of this shit. They are the last company that should ever get fully exclusive deals over brand or IP rights being adapted into video games, yet they seem to get it the most... Nothing good ever comes of it.
*grabs popcorn*
Mimu Mi Away with you EA.
Remember that casino planet in the new Star Wars?
Oh you mean the Planet of EA? where they rule it with a Iron fist?
Hilariously the line Chris Lee said immediately after the end of your quote was "It's a trap."
Top notch speech writing to insert a quote in Star Wars about bad things happening to make your point about a bad thing happening with Star Wars.
Love how Dazz says “sense of *pride* and *accomplishment* ” through gritted teeth. You can *feel* the anger
You know Disney was coming for EA when Star Wars was compared to Joe Camel by a government official.
I might move to Hawaii or Belgium now.
Cheeky Squirrel Nuts lmao
If I was a video game developer, I'd go indy and never work for EA.
Your morals might changed after EA throws a bunch of cash at your doorstep.
case cao If they throw enough money, damn right.
Do how EA ruined EVERYTHING
Bobby Shewan Dr Seuss's How EA ruined everything
Bobby Shewan I love fifa 18
A -Wade LOL
the best nah. It's basically just the same shit every year with Fifa or NFL or any of that shit. I miss games like NBA Jam and shit like that
So sad...this game (battlefront II) was actually fun to play, and it got a lot of good feedback from the trailers and the fixes from the first game before they fucked it up with almost forced micro transactions in order to progress. It’s not that bad of a game now that the micro transactions are turned off, but fuck man you had to ruin a to-be good game with your greedy, dirty fucking tactics? I wish someone else had taken the Star Wars license. I’d literally take anyone at this point over EA
I've never played any starwars-game, and I definitifley won't play the new one^^
Play the pre-Disney Star Wars games:
Battlefront 2 (2005), KOTOR, TIE Fighter, Lego Star Wars, rogue squadron etc
Episode 1: Podracing, Dark Forces, Shadows of the Empire, Any/all of the Jedi Academy games, there are quite a few gems, some are more polished than others.
To the people who say SWBF2 is good outside of the Lootboxes and Microtransactions and progression system no its not. The story sucks and so do most of the characters and the games too short. EA (no doubt having decided on to with Disney) lied about the single player campaign to put in something infuriating and predictable. It goes against the canon. Its bad all over.
Thank you for summarising recent Kotaku articles.
*You can't spell steal without EA!*
*When you want to make an unoriginal joke, but someone else has already done it, and takes all the attention*
We stand united against EA - Tired of this BS, only thinking about money.
RandomHero From Space only u lol
The Galactic Empire >>>>>>>>>> E.A
Mass genocide is better than ripping people off!
Oh well, at least EA Tetris was good... And then they lost their licence...
Micro Transactions should stay on IOS and Android. I didn't pay $60 for a incomplete game...
When has EA ever not ruined a franchise or a studio or gaming in general?
It's funny how the loot boxes in star wars have caused this much upheaval but EA enticing kids to spend their parents money on every years new FIFA ultimate team building the same squads they cant basically make themselves. ULTIMATE TEAM IS A JOKE. Much less so now, its a little more generous to attain packs of cards but still. When it came out etc... Bullshit!
Saiyan Cragus it’s because people who buy Fifa every year aren’t classified as intelligent lifeforms
are they some subspecies of madden fans?
Pay 50 more bucks to unlock the next part of this video
The pronunciation of "Koen Geens" turned into "Cohen Jeans" makes this extremely hilarious.
If your company get bought out by EA. Quit before they can contract you on a project. If you get interviewed for your next job and asked why you quit. Simply say EA bought out the studio. And knowing nods will be exchanged.
Like we needed more reason to hate ea Disney and Lucas, thanks
EA didnt ruin Star wars, commercialisation did, did we really want car insurance using its name to promote its bloody Mercats?
Mike Dix
By that logic, Star Wars has been ruined since 1978.
wow EA only has themselves to blame
Can we stop "micro transactions" in videogames???
Nothing is more annoying than knowing that someone has the upper hand just because they had some pocket change left over from their parents debit cards.
Like seriously, work hard play hard. Not pay hard to be "good"
Skill cones from within not from the fucking wallet
Why are the best sounding star wars games always the cancelled ones?
