Hideo Kojima's Many Lost Games (1986-2024)

- Did You Know Gaming takes a look at the many failed games of Hideo Kojima. Over his nearly four decades in the video game industry, this legendary developer has contemplated making many different games, but far more ended up on the cutting room floor than what got released.

#kojima #hideokojima #cancelledgames #lostmedia - เกม
This is the second time a DidYouKnowGaming? video made me think that Hideo Kojima had died.
If I had a penny for every time that happened I would have 2, which is not a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice 🤔
Same
Or hes being blamed for another assassination
RIP Kojimbo
He's not dead. He's just posting weird shit on Twitter again
Nothing of value would have been lost .
Kojima's mentality towards making more Metal Gear games reminds me of Sakurai's mentality towards making more Super Smash Bros. games. Both creators want to leave their creations behind and make something else, but either the higher ups want them onboard for the next one, or they can't bring themselves to let someone else do the job and besmirch their franchise.
Meanwhile James Gunn got fired by Disney for tweets he made a long time ago, only for Disney to hire him back on for the GotG Holiday Special and GotG3 because Baby Groot made them mad stacks.
I kinda feel sorry for them, as great as those games are, it'd be nice to see new projects and games from them.
It's very similar to how Sir Arthur Conan Doyle talked about Sherlock Holmes.
Same with Nomura and Kingdom Hearts. He has stated multiple times he wants to make darker less happy Final Fantasy style games (like his cancelled game in my PFP, Final Fantasy Versus XIII) but he's been trapped his whole career on KH, it sucks.
Kind of like being a victim of your own success, greedy fat cats at the top don't recognize and respect the creative visionary's desire to branch out and innovate in new dimensions, instead they said "you print money, we like money."
Kojima the type of guy to get his game cancelled because its too ambitious, only to go on to make the most ambitious game ever made
He is like an anime Character, he gets Beaten down (Cancled game) and he stands up and gets on another level (Changing the GamingIndustry).
Right. Lol
@@ExFragMaster "strand type game" still isn't a real genera.
@@mattwo7 it is if you say it is enough times
Also the zombie game and "raw game" ideas were stupid. The LN and anime, Full Dive had Kiwame Quest, a game that literally blew up if you died. The protag-kun just bought a new copy when his exploded, defeating the entire point of a "raw game" which just makes it even dumber.
That zombie idea is the most exploitative idea for a game I ever heard.
😂😂ikr
Basically a "that's why we can't have nice things". If people wouldn't try to exploit stuff, we could have way more fun. But humans gotta be humans.
That idea is a lawsuit waiting to happen
Honestly that was probably because of all the time he spent in the Konami higher-ups, knowing how Konami shifted around then. I'll bet if he ever revisited that idea it wouldn't use that kind of monetization
Thank god kojima just wanted to make video games instead of doing business
The same qualities that make Kojima a genius are the ones that make me glad other people existed to tell him what was too far
That zombie idea is pretty atrocious, as creative as it is
Yeah it sounds like he wants games to explore his own interests, not so that other people can have fun. He's an artist whose medium is games.
No matter how much of a creative genius you are, you aren't exempt from thinking of some pretty awful stuff. I imagine being in the position he was at Konami made him think of more business-oriented ideas. If he wanted to be a good CEO and make a lotta money, then what he imagined was definitely clever, but surely even he knew it was something that shouldn't necessarily be done. Although I imagine if he truly believed the monetized aspect of the zombie concept was integral to the experience he wouldn't hesitate on it.
This man is insane.
And a genius
“Those who think they are crazy enough to change the world; are the ones who do.” - Steve Jobs
Kojima has proven he is crazy enough to shake up the gaming landscape, and he has, several times.
Geniuses are always insanw
@@tulip811Kanye West 😅
@SHKDWN79 Just because all geniuses are insane doesn't mean all insane people are geniuses.
That zombie game idea sounds interesting in concept and doable from a technical standpoint but pretty much impossible to execute from a business perspective, why on earth would anyone pay to not play? The servers would be deserted within a week.
I guess Kojima is one of those creatives that's so interested in doing new things that he finds interesting that he completely forgets that what the players usually want is practicality and to play games on their own terms.
Perhaps I'm alone here but in Elite Dangerous if you don't pay attention to your navigation path you can run out of fuel and get stranded in space. You can self destruct but losing a ship in Elite when you're already new enough to get lost is a big hit.
The community started the Fuel Rats, a group of people you can ping on their website and they'll come fuel you up. If asked would Fuel Rats exist before I knew they did, I'd say no. It turned out to be the coolest emergent behavior I've seen in a game (cool for me. I'm still not sure why they do it 😅)
Point of my rant is I think a lot of things become more probable when the game promotes the solution being the interesting part.
@@hanzflackshnack1158 that's really neat. But I'm afraid it still counts as playing, the player isn't immediately and permanently killed if they fail, there's a chance to learn from one's mistakes and come back. The zombie idea proposed by Kojima is more of a case of messing up once and that account becomes useless, and on top of that you're supposed to keep paying for it.
@@axelprino My bad I should know what I'm saying before I say it... I somehow had it in my head that what he proposed was someone can come save you, not you'd have to make a new account every time you got bit... His idea is indeed odd.
He might be on to something with events forcing players to change their role in the online atmosphere but yeah my bad for wasting your time....
@@hanzflackshnack1158 I think they do it because there's nothing else to do in the game other than space trucking anyways.
yes, please please please an in-depth video of P.T.!
Mikami telling him live, in front of a crowd "I've never heard about that", Kojima insisting, and Mikami doubling down "It's the first I'm hearing of that" is hilarious lmao.
Also, is that Suda51 with them on the stage ? Looks and sounds like him. Probably around the days of Killer7 I imagine.
it is! it's from an event called snake vs zombie and the full talk is on youtube rn with english subs if you want to watch. the event was actually used to premote no more heroes
Boktai has a HEAVY reference in MegamanBattleNetwork4 !!
The first boss, Shade-man has a weakness to light attack based chips and Django himself makes an appearance specifically tied to this boss
Otenko and Kojima (Director Ozma, even though he's only a producer for Botkai) also make cameo appearance in BN4 and there's Gun Del Sol (shortened to GunSol) Chips that can be program advanced into the PileDriver. Also it's not just Botkai and BN4, Botkai 2 also has a crossover with BN5 where there's a crossover battle mode unlocked using wireless adapters and a cheat code where Django and MegaMan compete to delete ShadeMan. In Botkai 2, ShadeMan returns as an optional boss that rewards Django with the MegaBuster (in spite of getting hit by the Pile Driver _twice,_ now, Shademan returned for the final time in BN5 which was released later the same year) and crossover battle points can be exchanged for a charge shot and more MegaMan armor. W slotting Botkai 2 in to BN5DS gets you MegaMan SolCross, the return of the GunSol chips and a Django navi chip. Then there's Gyakushū no Sabata (Botkai 3) and exe6 (MMBN6) . Crossover Battle 2 features Hakushaku (The Count) instead of ShadeMan. In Gyakushū no Sabata, the Rock Buster returns with more Rockman exe (MMBN) themed armor sets and Coffin Bike customizations. (IIRC, there was also an Otenko obstacle chip at some point? )
And then there's Bokura no Taiyō: Django & Sabata (Lunar Knights) and Ryusei No Rockman (Mega Man Star Force) . By linking these games in Danjo & Sabata, the title characters (Aaron and Lucian in Lunar Knights) can fight Ox Fire (Taurus Fire) which rewards the player with War Rock (Omega-Xis) as a Terrennial. In SSR, Dango and Sabata help -War- Rockman ( -Omega-Man- Star Force Mega Man) fight Henkyōhaku Raimā (Margrave Rymer) . Also apparently items can be transferred between the games?
What I heard is that their kids loved the respective other games as well so they basically made a collab to make them happy but don't quote me on that.
The BN Collection has the stuff that was cut from the US versions back in. (BN4-6 had Boktai content)
Edit: I see mattwo7 already went into this. Oops
Battle Network 4-6 all have Boktai references! All of them let you use the Gun Del Sol and summon Boktai characters. If you have GBA Wireless Adapters, you can fight ShadeMan in BN5 while also fighting him in Boktai 2. BN6 has a whole sequence with Django and the Count that was originally removed from international releases but restored in Legacy Collection because they’re based on the Japanese versions!
Boktai is amazing. They even added the Gun Drl Sol in MGS4, and tie it heavly in side content to Megamam BN. They really need to remaster it like with the FF7/8/9 games where it has a command to raise/lower the solar levels, kinda like the Raising Sun solar patch for ROMs
It's not so much a reference as a cross-over.
Not the "Strand-type game" reference 😂
Death threats are the worst things you can do to get your way. Doesn't matter whether you think forcing someone to do something will work or not, just doing it causes a mental toll on them. They're not even fans, they're just idiots.
It explains why MGS4 did what it did. The game explained things that should have remained mysteries, because it was trying to close every thread.
Nobody is doing it to get their way
@@mbii7667 That's really all death threats are. It's a method to try and coerce someone into going a specific direction, usually against the actual intention. Kojima isn't the only one this has happened to, and (as explained in this video) he was forced back into the director role because people were upset he wasn't the director. Most of these threats are empty, but they're enough to cause trouble.
@@Alex-95-Gaming no not really, it's just people talking shit
@@mbii7667 So you're telling me death threats are ok to send out, impact nothing, and are never used to force something to happen, despite even just this video alone proving otherwise?
I wish hideo could have finish Silent Hills
It be so nice
I've got fingers crossed that OD will be a bit of a reimplementation of some of those ideas and sequences he had in mind and the only reason I think that is because the door he used to enter the stage was the exact same one as the door from PT. Entirely a crackpot theory but a man can dream
@@datguyuno98 Considering they said it's some sort of cloud based game ehhhhhhh.
@@theninjamaster67 Probably forced to be that way because Xbox wanted to. He's still making DS2 and a stealth game, those don't have cloud integrations.
@@thatguynobodywants3716 Doesn't matter who's idea it was cloud based means shut down sometime in the future and not able to be played anymore so ehhhhhhhhhh.

He's 5291 years old.
AHAHA man ICANT "wait he wasn't that young"
He has looked 38 years old for decades tho
With the way the title looks like, I thought that he died!

@@LagrimaArdiente HIDEO KOJIMA FOUND DEAD IN TOKYO ALLEYWAY. RIP 1986-2024
Oh no.....
I thought that as well.
Would love to hear a more detailed video on P.T. and Silent Hills. I don't know if there's any other news aside from some models that were found, Junji Itos involvement and how Silent Hills apparently never really got far in development, but it'd be dope to see that video.
One of my first videogames ever was "Penguin Adventure" in the early 90s and recently I put almost 1000 hours in "Death Stranding: Director's Cut", while also playing and completing every single videogame he has ever worked on in between.
So with regards to my respect for Hideo Kojima and his work - "enough said". ♥
That’s almost 999 hours wasted.
Kojima is the kinda guy who has a ton of ideas that sounds great in theory, but you know would be terrible as actual games
At least they'd be interesting.
Disagree entirely and fortunately for him, most of the games that have a ton of ideas have been great that HAVE worked well for the actual games that have came out!
@@dansmith16 Sometimes delays can't be helped as somethings happen during production and it's for the best that they happen at time for it to be eventually great at release.
The "overbudget" stuff only happened once as far as I can tell during the fox engine construction on trying to make it look as good as it does!
That zombie one sounds horrible
@@34charss It's not outright "horrible" if there's more to it but the whole trying to increase your pay toll is a bad idea as people aren't going to want to keep coming back if the price increases.
He should make a game with Junji Ito and Guillermo del Toro.
That would be the greatest horror game ever!
Everything about Kojima's exit from Konami was messed up and unfair to him. But at the same time, it's really sad listening to all these quotes of him saying "I want to make something that isn't Metal Gear" and then being forced to inevitably make another Metal Gear.
It's not really sad imo because nobody forced him to make anything and he ended up doing what he did out of his own will.
@@Omar_E11 Idk, after hearing all the stories and horror stories about Japanese work culture 'of his own will' isn't the win you think it was...
@Jinsoku440 Hideo wasn't some ordinary salary guy. He was the creative lead of a company
@@Omar_E11 I don't see how that has any weight on my statement
What are you guys talking about he did make games that weren't Metal Gear while at Konami lol.
Snatcher, Policenauts, Zone of the Enders none of these were as successful as MGS but he also had a hand in Castlevania Lords of Shadow.
Its always a shame to know someone responsible for something you love actually derides it.
It's clear that while Kojima loved Metal Gear, it became a burden that limited him.
It's even exasperating to know that fans would have happily let him carry that burden forever if it meant more games for themselves
I don't feel bad for him
Bullying got us Peace Walker and several other sequels.
Please make the PT video :)
A game with no continues sounds awesome in theory, but then you play something like a souls like or an FPS on max difficulty and you realize, its not that great of an idea 😂
It doesn't sound awesome
@@mbii7667 It does when the game is short, ALOT of classic arcade games had no continues at all, you would have to sped run them in one go and they're very well praised. It DOES sound awesome depending on HOW you do it for the final product.
@@Gadget-Walkmen good points 👍🏼

I would love a P.T. / Silent Hills video!
Yes I would love to see a P.T. Video made by you guys! The game and the story is just so strange and weird at the same time
Maaaan the death of Zoe3 really hurts. I LOVE the series and it drives me insane that game got canceled, the concept art and game ideas are SO COOL.
I can only hope one day he makes a spiritual successor.
I love Anubis' design and ZoE3's concept art was so cool. It's truly a shame we never got it. Hopefully we'll get something similar one day.
Every day I feel sad we never got metal gear rising revengeance 2
It can still come out from konami but I don't know if anyone is able to ever make a new metal gear associated game from that company.
metal gear rising 2: rerevengeance
Where would you go after Armstrong?
@@dansmith1661 according to kojima his idea was to have it star Grey Fox fighting zombies but it would be nice to see what Raiden gets up to after charting his own course
Silent Hills had such potential. We will never know, but I believe the horror genre lost a masterpiece when they cancelled SH.
That series got kind of more and more "meh" for me after 2.
I loved the Boktai series for the GBA when I was a kid and I was in awe later when I grew up and learned that it was made by Kojima. Still sad that the triology hasn't gotten a remaster, especially because the games were amazing and it had some amazing interactions with Megaman Battle Network, another one of my favorite series.
I think Kojima falling out with Konami and quitting was a blessing in disguise and perhaps even a relief to him. It really seems like Kojima felt burdened by Metal Gear. He wanted to make other games, but he felt it was his responsibility to be a caretaker for the MGS franchise.
Now that he has his own studio, he probably has this sense of freedom he hasn't had in decades. I do hope he gets to do all the weird and out there games he had dreamed about while he was at Konami. With his connections, he could probably branch out to other forms of media. I would be very interested in watching a Kojima-written and directed anime, perhaps made by a really dynamic studio like Trigger.
I really liked the Metal Gear series and some of them were truly innovative, but Kojima's obsession with a game that you can only play once per purchase is so stupid that it's not surprising he's never been able to push one through. He says the arcade model of gaming is obsolete but uses the same argument to promote a game where you essentially have to pay per play. Am I crazy or does this make zero sense? Seems incredibly anti-consumer and unsustainable.
Your video thumbnail really scared me! It made me think that Kojima had died.
Its a clickbait. Just hear the intro with sad music
@@gerardoa9179It's hardly clickbait. The thumbnail says *_"Kojima's LOST games"._* Kojima is well known to have many ideas that never make it past the cutting room floor.
How would you get the impression then, that he had died? I could see how the video title could give others that assumption. With a little research, however, and that theory is quickly debunked.
BobBob, if your first thought was to assume that he had died, you might want to consider going to therapy. There is something deeper at play.

All of tou who keep saying "you made me think he died" how??? How would 1986-2024 be his lifespan when he had games coming out and was in his 20s by 86 youse just dont have (internet) literacy skills apparently...
Strand type joke was 10/10
there should be a game, some crazy save the world type story.. maybe superheros le special powers somthing good. then when it ends, it opends into a sims game or some kind of simulator that now you can do whatever you like. instead of there being nothing after or some extra dlc or next bad guy.. you just get a job LMFAO would be awesome and funny af
“Lost Warld” was the first “Transfarring”
The Japanese are always gifted at being innovative,
but Kojima takes it to a whole different but unpredictable level.
That zombie game business model sounds so unbelievably bad. I really can't tell if this man is a genius or the luckiest hack ever.
Yeah, that's a Molyneux-tier level of fart sniffing.
I feel like the line between the two is that Kojima at least knows not to say anything like that about games in active development and keeps it entirely hypothetical until the game is either released or cancelled.
Def no hack
Sometimes his ideas feel out of sync with reality and the consumer base.
Lol Kojima isn't a hack just because he has a couple of bad concepts doesn't mean he's a hack he is a genius period
@@casanovafunkenstein5090LOL comparing Molyneux with Kojima what stupid take unlike Molyneux Kojima is genius game designer

Yeeah, I'd def like to hear more about PT.
That zombie game idea sounds exactly like something an out-of-touch, greedy video game CEO would have made. Kojima really was ahead of his time! Everyone probably laughed the idea off for its absurdity back in the day, but the sad truth is that this idea doesn't sound so implausible nowadays...
What about Zone of the Enders Fist of Mars?

Do an episode on why they didn't use TAPPY again for the music after MGS1!
The fanbase was holding him hostage in Konami, that's why he left? amazing
No, he got fired because he stretched MGSV way over budget making the Fox engine.
Konamis new management at the time moved away from AAA games.
@@zombierepublican No, he didn't get "fired", he LEFT the company due to differences in management. There'a HUGE difference as him getting "fIred" is a misconception.
@@Gadget-Walkmen So the company were nice people then and didn't have an axe to grind? The fanbois lied to me.

Don't know what you mean by "axe to grind" at all here but you seem to be confused here.
Nobody "lied to you" and there are no "fanois", it's just a bunch of stuff that was happening behind the scenes during the production of konami that most people don't know about BUT alot of it was negative for the staff and the higher ups as the company was changing direction in management and alot of people left because they weren't making games anymore and that's NOT why people work in video game companies for so a bunch of people were leaving and finding work someplace else.
@@Gadget-Walkmen nah, he got dropped. Why else was he treated so badly during it. Amicable separations look nothing like what we saw.
Long video? There are rambling reaction videos twice longer than this one without any actual information. It's amazing how you could research and portrait what has Kojima been tinkering about in such a cohesive manner 👾 kudos!
Spoiler alert: Reaction videos are terrible, don't watch/support them
Thank you guys for making this! Releasing a banger after the sponsored videos gets big fan love back! Way to go!
that zombie game idea sounds like an evolution of his 'Raw' game idea
What his idea should become is a fantasy VR game, where if you die in the game YOU DIE IN REAL LIFE, kidding on that bit
But seriously, if your party had to find you body and do a quest or something to bring you back to life, like you would in a dungeons and dragons campaign, there's a lot of people who would be into that.
With Boktai: I do wonder if the I.R. camera on the Joy-Con is capable of mimicking the functionality of the solar sensor included in the original cartridge. Because if so, we could then hopefully see it added to GBA Online someday.
The p.t. video sounds like an interesting idea. I'd love to see that happen :D
You know you're a genius when you're suffering from success, being forced to stay with your creation, and expand upon it, because the fans are just that passionate about it (even if some of those fans are toxic, sending death threats)
I'm really curious as to what an alternate timeline would've looked like if Murata took over the series after MGS3. Zone of the Enders the 2nd Runner is one of my favorite games of all time, so I think Metal Gear would've been safe in Murata's hands.
You guys have just been going nuts haven't you. This week has been insane for you guys
Who guys?
DYKG is guys. They’ve been making a lot of good videos lately
I still wish we'd got Silent Hills. As a fan when they showed off the trailer I lost my mind, cause seeing all these great people working on it got me excited again for the franchise, then Konami pulled that plug.
His working on a horror game called OD.
Yes absolutely please do a P.T. video
Did Kojimo dieded?
And I believe EVERYONE still strongly believes they were robbed from the potential full release of what Silent Hill (P.T.) could've been.
I pray Mr. Kojima realizes his dreams in the near future
Just in case the worst come to happen, i hope someone could make Kojima's games a reality, even if it's a fraction of what he had in mind i would still love to see what type of game ideas he has and how they could be if one day ever come to release
This man is a legend and screwed over by Konami. So much respect for him, and thankfull for the games i enjoyed so much.
Kojima wasted Konami's money
"Suicide Squad Kills The Justice League, but you play as Agent 47" is a great idea for a game.
Ehhhhh, that's not at all how to compare them based on what he was quoted to say at all but It definitely would have been a fantastic and a WAY better game if he made it compared to the actual "kills the justice league" game that came out.
Now I feel bad about being hyped for Physint
Don't be, because it's still something different that he would love to make!
The zombie thing sounds annoying. Getting charged potentially forever sounds awful. There's some ideas that sound fine enough but if an entire server becomes entirely zombified that server and all fees should be canceled.
I just don't see an upside to a game like that. There's nothing to that experience that sounds like it would be a fun time.
So many of his ideas sounded like impractical to be honest! We only here what Kojima thinks because he's more mediatized than other games creators and in way likes to be in the spot like!
Metal Gear Survive being leftovers of Kojima's zombie idea suddenly explains why you had to buy extra save slots.
The fact that some people somehow managed to finish PT in a day is mind boggling to me lol
I know it will never happen, but I’m still holding out for Zone of the Enders 3. 😢
25:04 WTF? I'm just now finding out about this secret in MGS3 after all these years! And I can't even try it now because I don't have a PS2 anymore.
Now I am kinda scared about how OD is going to work
There's a few indie games with the "raw" concept.
Usually with a hardcore mode that deletes the save if you die, but also things like (the original) OneShot where you can't start a new game after completing it.
It's also present in MMO's like EVE Online where your ship is a tangible resource that can be lost forever, or in roguelikes where you start from square one after death.
Oh! There’s this really neat indie game idk if you’ve heard of it called Minecraft! That has a survival mode too!
@@thecatwrangler9448not quite the same. You're easily able to get your progress neck in survival. Plus you can continue and all your buildings and stuff remain.
oneshots got like 50 exceptions to that rule for story reasons but that is the Intended Theme of the game yeah lol
That's not what he meant. He meant like in Full Dive's Kiwame Quest where the game storage medium (some sort of crystal) *_literally blows up._* The proag-kun just buys a new one and starts over though, turning an already bad idea into an even worse one because the point is so easily defeated. You'll notice he didn't mention the "raw game" concept with the zombie game concept even though the zombie game has permadeath.
I mean those are kinda similar, but you can always just do another run. Kojima's idea was that you COULND'T do another run. You get one chance to play it, and whne you die, that's it. It's not just a game with a hardcore/survival mode or with a rougelike loop.
Actually you can download PT on your PS4 if your account has it on the library, there are tutorials for it.
Thanks for the upload!
Hope you all had a great weekend.
8:50 actually it’s an alternate sequel to metal gear as the events of metal gear 2 solid snake never happened in that alternate universe
Pretty sure Hideo used the word 生 (nama) which does mean raw / fresh (commonly for food) but it also mean "live". Which would be more accurate for the idea of a game that is alive (care for it and it will go for a long time, fail to do so it will die).
Just my pompous otaku 2 cents heh.
12:03 Then why didn't he make it a spinoff of Castlevania? Konami literally owns that franchise, he probably could have gotten permission to use it...
Because they were doing other stuff with it (GBA-DS and the 360 duo) and didn't think a huge-budget Kojima game would be worth it.
Guys, you're doing this on purpose now.
I begrudgingly accept Twin Snakes clips as a repayment.
still need P.T.
Fantastic watch. Just here to say: Please do this Silent Hills/PT Video!
Kojima made some genuinely entertaining adventure games (Policenauts, Snatcher). I'd love to see him revisit the genre.
This was great, thank you! I appreciate that he's trying to think of NEW things that can be done within the medium. He's always trying to innovate and trying to think ways to push against the boundaries of how a game is defined and what a game can be. Sometimes things work better than others, and some ideas, while interesting, would make for awful user-experiences (like the zombie game). But he's one of very few people I would genuinely call an "auteur" in the world of game development. As much as I love the MGS series, it's almost a shame that so many exist, and it's a shame that was felt to beholdened to the series and like he was being forced to make more to be profitable. I wonder what he would have been able to make if he has just stopped after MGS or MGS2.
Also, it's funny that they used Tim Rogers as an example of a critic, given that he doesn't see himself as a critic (especially not these days). But I guess he "technically" was when he was at Kotaku and did his blog.
Thanks Sven. Yeah not really a critic. Really it was just an flimsy excuse to squeeze Tim Rogers into this video, because I love Tim Rogers.
23:44 Freaking Chupacabras, man. I can never guess what monster I’ll see when someone calls its name.
Maybe he could have made a permadeath game where you have to restart from the beginning if you die.
One correction: Acid 1 and 2 are not set near the end of the series timeline. They are noncanon and alternate universe.
If I had a nickel for every time DYKG made me think beloved game developer Hideo Kojima had died, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
A P.T. video? Omg yes please!
You can call him pretentious and/or egotistic, which might be true, but i gotta hand it to him that he's a true artist. He'd rather do his own things and experiment with ideas. That to me is what real artists do. It's what indie games are doing nowadays.
I had probably 20 hours into that penguin game as a kid. never heard of that snake game, never owned a nokia
Nick Cave, Warren Ellis for the soundtrack of OD
His idea for a game without continues, and that you have to value your life isn't that far of what Rogue Likes are. Sure, you just start over, no actual consequence of the game becoming unplayable, but you loose everything. And there's off course hardcore modes on games.
And there's definitely ways to explore his idea, like locking a new playthrough for 24 hours, or other punishments that would create more of a sense of stake.
Make a full P.T. video!!
Imagine he was born a few decades later, where it's now comparatively easy to make a game with like Unity, Godot, etc.
Genious Hideous Kojumbo has done it again
Pt video pls
great video. If you choose to make a P.T. video, its worth considering to mention the illegitimate solutions to play it, like PC mods. The more people that have access to this in any complete form, the better IMO.
BRO I THOUGHT HE WAS DEAD
I mean he certainly could pass for 38, but then he would have been 2 when making Snatcher and 12 when making metal gear solid so...
He's 60 @@lpnp9477
yes to the P.T. video, please and thank you :)
