    Since no one has mentioned it. Blair mountain in real life was the site of a battle between coal miners and the coal companies and national guard from Aug 25, 1921 - Sep 2, 1921. Apparently Bethesda is referencing this very real battle in there game. Figured you might find this interesting.

    The Vault Tec employees can easily be explained with multiple theories. The first being them inspecting the site as a suitable vault location. Perhaps they assisted with the area survey with their own equipment, like that radar equipped ground sensor. They could have shared the compact reactor technology to power the Rockhound.

    In regards to the Rockhound modification to power setting allowing only 30 minutes of operations instead of the hour the modification, you're forgetting that game time is not equal to real time. I haven't checked exactly at the time of this posting but I think it's something like 16x faster, which means the rockhound is actually getting two hours of power per ignition core within the games time. 30 minutes, times 16, 480 minutes, then divide by 4 cores, 120 minutes.

    Good to see you can actually use the miner, they are an impressive bit of kit, the electricity I am using to watch this is coming from a coal plant that uses massive rotary bucket scoops like that, ganted they are not nuclear powered tho, they run off the power from the plants., the plants I am referring to are in Gippsland, Victoria Australia (Yallorn and Hazlewood for example, if Hazlewood is still operating that is)

  • @alexandercarree9940
    @alexandercarree9940 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    It makes sense as to why the buckets on the rockhound need replacing so frequently. Real world bucket wheel excavators like the Bagger 293 are used to excavate loose mining materials. The Hornwright rockhound is being used to presumably excavate solid rocks, this would put excessive strain on these black titanium buckets. Another strange curiosity is the presence of Garrahan mining machines at presumably a Hornwright Industrial site. After close inspection of the machines found in the Ash mountain region, I have deduced that there are 2 major colours of trucks and loaders. Though i have yet to decipher which is which, i have concluded that the red trucks are from Hornwright, and the Yellow trucks are from Garrahan. Now since you see yellow front end loaders, skid steers, and mining dump trucks around the Rockhound at Mount Blair, is it safe to presume that Hornwright allowed Garrahan to benefit from the mining bounty of the Rockhound? Was Mount Blair an open mining site where both Garrahan and Hornwright Industrial could cooperate in a mining operation?

    Oxhorn, I can tell you why there was a Sensor Buggy as well as scientists at Mt. Blair and at 'The Outer Trailers' bit. It all has to do with Seismology and Volcanology. When tectonic plates push against each other, they either go underneath one or the other, and/or crash into each other creating mountain ranges (In this case since it's West Virginia mountains would be the case.)
    Now I know some may think 'Phooey' when I say that when the bombs dropped, it caused more pressure on the plates and cause most of the mountains in the ash heap to go 'Volcanic' along with the 'Liquifaction' that you went through in your 'The Glowing Sea' video . And this I say because I have literally seen cracks in the ground/mountain sides with what seems to be 'smoldering lava' still aflame near Welch, abandoned Mine sites, and have seen a still hot rock face that buried a Scorch's leg with supposed cooled molten rock at Brim's Quarry. And the most convincing piece of evidence that proves this, is that almost every one of these sites have small bodies of water labeled 'Toxic Water' that have geysers streaming water out of them.
    and geysers only happen if there is actual seismic and volcanic activity beneath the surface. Do you think that's what happened to most of the mountains in the Ash Heap? Please try and think on this when you do a video on 'Belching Betty' and the surrounding abandoned Mines in the ash heap.
    Also love your content Oxhorn. :)

    Maybe Vault Tec had a vested interest in the rockhound because they also like to dig big holes in the ground and put vaults in them.
    I haven't played FO76 though *shrugs*

    23:25 well there was a big problem in Appalachia and they couldn’t move a bunch of dirt so they got the firemen to burn it away but it went into the mines, it is actually still burning today and is the final quest for the responders fire breathers where u go into the burning mine still burning in the fallout universe

    I'm guessing the vault tec scientists were surveying to see if it would be a good spot for a vault after the rockhounds had finished its excavation. That way they wouldn't have to spend quite as much excavating the area themselves.

    The mine fires that you found are probably based on the fires of Centralia Pa. They been burning since the 60s and it's thought that they'll still be burning for a hundred years if not longer.

    1750 MWe ? That thing is drinking energy like there is no tomorrow. A current nuclear reactor of 1000 MWe (lots more MW thermal, 'e' stands for electricity) is already a great achievement.

    If fusion generator exist and are efficient. Why reinvent and use the less efficient ones.

    • @vikiai4241
      @vikiai4241 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be my first thought too, but - surprisingly - they also were providing the blueprints to their customers as part of the Rockhound equipment, apparently, so their customers could buy cores from them or make their own if they preferred (goodness, they'd never survive in our version of the business world!).
      I assume that in-game it might be that the Rockhound requires vastly more power than standard fusion generators can output.
      Meta-game, it is so you can't use fusion cores to bypass that part of the quest, of course. :-)

  • @ambosen

    The fishstick thing is most likely an easter egg. For years, on Bethesda's official forums, they used a forum service that let them assign custom titles to users alongside posting permissions, ect. Somehow, new users would find themselves literally given the title of "fish stick". Morrrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Skyrim all have similar easter eggs referencing it.
