Things didn't go exactly as planned on this trip (again) but we still had an amazing time! I will be changing my setup completely in the coming months so keep an eye out for that... If you enjoyed the video please consider giving it a Thanks or join Patreon to help me continue producing content like this.
I get discouraged having to fix a puncture so heaps of respect for everyone’s effort in thís episode. 🙌🏼
Epic content as always Chris! 🙌🏼
@getoutgo that was a fantastic episode! I love that you don’t “so Ja lekker..” when narrating as well. Not sure why we saffas do that (personal pet peave). Really pro videography and interesting content. You also have my wife excited for overlanding now - which I have to thank you for! Have to ask - what happened to your rig that got you to R80k mark? Sheesh.. must have been major. Excellent Job!
Thanks! Check out my Namibia series; the dual battery broke loose, caused a short and cooked the main wiring loom (just that part alone was R20k)...
Incredible video and editing.
Interesting trailer experience.
Been dreaming of a Conqueror Commander to allow me to be remote and still in contact with work (power, Starlink, some aircon, etc) - which would work out to be pretty expensive.
Also keen of the idea of easy setup (with insta-awn, etc) and being able to leave camp setup on early game drives with no fuss.
Thought the conqueror (with air suspension, etc) would allow that and to go as tough as I might like.
So would like to see your evaluation of setup options you might consider based on your experience.
@@MarcWilson1000Thanks Marc! I've partnered with Outdoor Campers to review various platforms over the next few months as I decide myself what the next setup is.
Just love the moment Ed arrives in the camp....the greetings the laughter the happiness to be there.... it's awesome!!!
Couldn't agree more!
Christoff, that footage of the lions was absolutely breathtaking! It’s evident you have a keen eye for capturing the beauty and essence of nature. It’s also admirable how you handle adversity; having mechanical breakdowns in such a remote location can be daunting, but reaching out to Ed and Ryan and their willingness to help just goes to show the strength of the overlanding community. Wishing you many more safe and awe-inspiring journeys!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! One of the best aspects of overlanding is usually the overlanders 😉
Another cracker episode Chris! Glad to be a part of this one 🙏 we need to go to botsalano again for that Katemba poitjie though 😂 well done V on opening the cans 😉 keep up the great work Chris!
😂 100%! Thanks again for bringing those shocks, you gents are legends!
Ed and Ryan always help out... My guess was right. Good bro'z
Oh man. The wildlife 🦁 in this episode is just amazing 🙌🏻 Just absolutely incredible. Loved watching this one. 😃👏🏻👊🏼
Thank you! Yes, Mabua is amazing, thanks for watching!
Ncoooh man, the segment when Ryan and Ed joins you and you gents are just happy to see each other, I see profound connection, so dope 🫶🏾👌🏾
A band of brothers 😉
Yip, it's true. That Kalahari sand in your shoes draws you back time and again. Fabulous video.
Thank you!
great episode Chris! You, Ed n Ryan are brothers for life.
I liked the positive attitude during those breakdowns
Thank you!
Edward bath to the rescue with his 200 series this I have to watch till the end now!!!
Love your work mates keep it up.
Toyota is just the best...
Thank you!
Baie lekker Chris! 😂
Thanks Lungelo! 😂
Great video Chris. The camp reviews are always fairly done. The lion footage was some of the best ever. The instructional portion on opening tins was very funny. Ed, Ryan and Reese to the rescue, like an old time western movie! Keep up the great work.
Thanks Doug, glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for the awesome video U guys are legends.
Thanks
loved it when i saw ED's car enter the gate!
Thanks very special
Another great episode! Even better to see the African Ranger boots doing what they do best🙌 thanks for the support Christoff
Thanks guys, really enjoying the boots!
How awesome that Ed and Ryan made a plan to visit!!!
Amazing
Always thoroughly enjoyable even with the trials! These lions were AMAZING 😂
Hahahaha and then the rest of the crew arrived .. it's awesome to see all these big TH-cam legends having a trip together
They saved my bacon on this one! 😂
Nice trip ! - yes bolts and nuts under the vehicle sand , dust and vibration - not good - the lesson here is always assume the bolts are toast and a good small angle grinder and new bolts are part of shock replacement i suppose
Excellent video as always Christoff. It's wild how often Conqueror trailers fail in the Kgalagadi. They seem to chow through suspension and even frames over there.
Thanks! I sold mine last week, revisiting my whole setup soon…
Great episode Christoff alles uitgewerk op die einde epic footage
Dankie Shaun!
Great video, sorry for repairs expenses. Keep up the good work🦁
Thank you!
Great video Chris, one thing I enjoyed is that you also showed the challenges that you go through at times. The gents and lady also supportive though obstacles. That is Magic as you guys always say.❤❤
Thanks! Yup, these trips are always great if you have good company, then it’s not so bad when thing go wrong…
We Love it!!
When she used the sharp end of the knife to scrape the onion off the board, I cried. Always use the blunt end. Awesome video.
👍 thanks
Have so enjoyed visiting the Kgalagadi in my armchair…thanks!

I was waiting for a trip like this for ages...was hoping that Ed and Ryan would also join.. hopefully next trip

When you said someone special is bringing the shocks i guessed...Edward. Nd when i saw him i just smilled, then realised he is with Ryan. I like how you guys always look up for one another.
Ed and Ryan are legends!
Incredible footage of the lions!!!
Thank you!
Hi Christoff,
Outstanding video. Loved the content, visuals, sound, editing and the story you shared!
Keep them coming!! :-)
Thank you!
Great video, you really captured Mabua perfectly.
Thanks a lot!
Howzit Chris, I too also own a military tuff conqueror🤨 and found this episode extremely informative. Definitely will be packing a spare set of shocks, nuts, bolts and washers. That’s over and above the spare wheel bearings that they recommend you carry. I reckon you guys handled the situation pretty well and having great bunch of mates goes a long way to easing the problem. I do recommend investing in a 5 pound hammer, very useful for dondering in tent pegs and now those pesky bolts. Great job and thanks ❤
Hi Trevor, they're great trailers but I think the suspension battles with tough terrain so some spare parts are a good idea!
Thanks for the content: greetings from Austria.🇦🇹
Griaß di! Vielen dank 😉
Wow,,that was beautifully filmed. I'm very envious. Greetings from a Saffa in Australia!
Thank you very much!
After this, I subscribed ! Amazing travel vlog..!

Watching from New Zealand.😊👍
Thanks for watching!
Awesome video Chris💪🏻😎
Thanks Boet!
Nice trip folks ! Out of Canada here !
Thank you! 👍
For some reason, I thought there weren't going to be any vehicle problems on this trip! Foolish of me. Your friends all stepped up to the plate, though, as well as the mechanics along the way. Truly amazing game footage though, and lovely that your wife comes with you on so many trips.
I need a holiday (with no breakdowns) 😂 The wildlife was amazing though and the company even better!
Good stuff.... Waiting for Ed's.... Next level 😂😂
Magic! 😉
Hi Chris. Nice to see wife join you on the trip. I also have a Companion 2010 model and it is just a very nice off-road caravan. When I bought it, it had Safari shocks but quickly replaced it with Monroe's because the Safari shocks keep on failing me. I used the Monroe's for the next about 10 years traveling Namibia, Botswana (Moremi) Zimbabwe (Mana Pools) and decided in 2022 to replaced it because of the upcoming Mabua trip. I was advised to use Tough Dogs. We travelled through the Kalagadi to Mabua and before Matopi I realised that the brand new Tough Dogs both sides failed. I had to do the rest of the trip with NO shocks, going very slow (No ED and Ryan to help me out). The Tough Dogs also failed some other travelers I know. I replaced it again with Monroe's and did Namaqualand Nature Reserve, we did Moremi again and the shocks are still in excellent condition. I believe the Bilstein's you have on now are also very good. I would like to hear what your opinion is of them. I enjoyed your trip very much. Thanks and keep on posting.
Thanks Paul! I sold the trailer last week. I will be starting with a new build (probably early next year), I don't want to tow anymore.
Such an amazing video,I came across your vehicle on Sunday on the vaalwater road
Thank you! Yes, we were at Matamba
Dankie, was great om julle te kon ontmoet, julle is ‘n klomp bakgat manne!
Selfde Johan!
Can’t wait to watch!! Ash and I are furiously adding more places to go when we get back.
Would be awesome to camp some more with you guys next time!
Africa is amazing as usual.
💯

The problem when suspensions get complicated it leads to more problems. If your van had leaf springs you could have completed the trip without any problems. Well done on a great video it makes me want to pack and go to the Kalagadi.
Thanks and agreed!
@getoutgo
nice to watch your vedios. Always inspired by your activities. Am always driving through DRC pedicle road quite a treacherous road, with Kubu island ball dust.
Just some advise to you & the other overlander with forward facing snorkel, add a bakers sanitation cap to the top of the snorkel acts like a pre-filter.
Give me a heads up or a mention once you find this helpfull
Thank you!
Beautiful video as always Chris, question about the radios. What licenses/permits do you need to use those in Bots, Nam, Zim and Zam ?
Thank you. In SA we’re on ORRA. Bots you need a BOCRA license and Namibia CRAN. Zim amd Zam I’m not sure.
Excellent video again! Thanks for sharing! Breakdowns will happen but you had good company to help..
How do YOU go about making your bookings for Mabua? Do you make use of a agent or do it yourself?
Keep up the work! You inspire a lot of us!
Thank you! I use Botswana Footprints to book any DWNP / Bigfoot sites
Hi Chris, I wanted to ask you what camera gear you use for your videos, awesome quality.
Thanks Terry! I use primarily Canon dslr’s and gopro’s for action shots. More info here www.patreon.com/posts/64111007
Amazing video! What gear are you using in terms of camera? And for you timelapses? 🤙🏼
Thanks! I use Canon, GoPro and DJI. Full camera gear video on Patreon
Well done! Sorry about the trailer trouble…
Thanks Henk! Trailer is sold so no more trouble with it 😉
Kgalagadi has the toughest soft sandy tracks eish😢😂😂
I just 💕🇿🇦
Hey Christoff, another great episode as always! What brand of fire starter gas stick are you using?
Thank you! I think I got it from Builders Warehouse
Hi Chris, You sure had some challenges but nevertheless well done on a great video. Very special times.
A question.. your braai grid looks fantastic and practical....Where I’d you acquire it? Keep up the good work. Cheers Mark
Thanks Mark! I think I bought it at Outdoor Warehouse a few years back. I haven't seen it in store recently though
Thanks Chris Appreciate and good luck in getting the “tuner” sorted
@@markledeboer7210 Thanks Mark, I'm putting in the new MAF sensor next week (with a service), hopefully that sort it out 👍
Great video Christoff! Loved the breakdown adventure too! 👌Ed and Ryan are real china's!
Thanks, they sure are!!
Hi. Need some more info regarding mpaya camp site please. Nd also the cutline from kokotsha to mabua gate
Feel free to check out my Patreon page. I help Adventurer and Overlander Patrons with route planning www.patreon.com/getoutgo
Great video! Sorry Bout the car trouble, partner the adventure but can be very demoralizing! I am heading they way next year and wanted to ask: how much water did you use on average?
Thanks! If we use the trailer’s shower (dewhot geyser and sureflow pump) we shower in 5-7l water each (we like to shower every day). Then a little more for dishes as well and drinking water separately (we carried 40l drinking water, used half). The trailer had 160l of water (and I have a 60l tank in the car which we didn’t use any of this time). In CKGR we used one of those Garden master pressurized pesticide bottles. With that we can both shower in 5l of water!
Thanks!

Where did you buy the wood you used, it looks very dry and hard?
We bought in Jwaneng at the Shell fuel station (P35 a bag) and Ed bought bundles at the Mabua gate (will ask how much that was)
Just curious why you use that gas wand to get the fire going rather than chopping kindling? It seems very common in SA but I’ve never come across it in North America. Cheers
We mostly have hardwood (camelthorn, sekelbush, rooibush, mopani, acacia etc). You’re going to be chopping for hours just to make a little kindling 😉
1m x 10 mm threated round bar, I go no where with out it, + 2 x wheel bearings + 1 x full 🥸set of leaf spring for my trailer, never had to use it, after 1 blade broke from Mana Pools. love Africa
I usually have spare wheel bearings and we managed to scrounge enough 19 bolts and nuts but 2 spare shocks? I don’t carry those… Seriously considering carrying a cordless rattle gun after this as well 😂 And yes, love Africa as well 👍
I like the song but i don't understand what they say but i feel
"Wanneer wil jy prego's hê?
It took me a while to notice you have a pony tail🤫
Yup 🙂
The lines were implemented to stop cross border migration of cattle and curb, monitor and restrict the spread bovine diseases. This was necessary to approve Botswana for international meat trading.
The cutlines are not fenced so not sure how that would curb migration? As far as I know they primarily serve as firebreaks but are used as roads as well obviously
Hi Chris. Juan hier ek wil graag ń trip saam met jou doen.
Hi Juan, ek begin binnekort toere aanbied (sal begin in Limpopo). Hou my socials / website dop vir meer inligting.
Has anyone shared this video with @GEDOREgroup yet? 😂
If i may ask why dont you recommend wild camping is Africa?
Because for the most part it just isn’t safe.
What was that jam at the beginning 😂
With the bread? Strawberry 😉 The cans (I always struggle to open) are diced tomatoes
