- Kgalagadi Photography - Know the Kgalagadi Transfrontier park Full Hour Documentary - 1 “The Auob river bed" EDUCATIONAL.
This 1h15min educational Film/Documentary Joe Produced in 2006 is an overview of the ecological workings of the Auob River in the Kgalagadi
The Auob river (dry) bed and the Nossob river (dry) beds are the two ancient river systems that run through the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park and it is where 80% plus of all the predator/prey action occurs. The only two major roads follow these river beds for exactly that reason. From Lion, Leopard and Cheetah kills to Cobras hunting rodents. Nowhere else can predator prey interaction be so openly observed. That's why I call it a wild river. The very old Camelthorn trees along the river bed of the Auob creates the micro habitat that jump starts almost the whole cycle. Humans would barely survive a few kilometers if left to walk down the river bed.
This film is the first that explains the ecological workings of this ecosystem through the three seasons on a macro level and introduce some of its plants and animals. This first of the series was intended to be an Informative documentary for the lovers or visitors of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park and not a traditional wildlife film.

This is the most accurate documentary I have seen. I managed a farm bout 80 miles from this area Stampriet was the closest village. The names of the animals and plants is how I know them, feels like I'm sitting in the shade of a kameeldoring boom again smelling the rain. Ai living in Scotland now but the big BBC s and Nat Geo doesn't get it but you Joe, you do. Thank you so much for making me home sick in such a ordinary way
Cobus Huisamen glad you appreciate. Know the Stampriet area. Dankie Cobus.
Seems so sad that a kalahari boy must be so far away. Have you subscribed it will be good to stay in contact.

I've heard of Kruger National Park before, of course - known about it for many years. But I've never heard of Kgalagadi before until the last few days. Looking at various maps of Africa and South Africa with respect to population, geography, topography, etc, I can understand why Kruger is so much better-known - because it's in much closer proximity to very populous human urban centers (the huge cities of Johannesburg and Praetoria). Kgalagadi is much more remote with respect to populous areas of human settlement. I can't imagine Kruger being much better than what I see in this video of Kgalagadi, which should be much more famous than it is. Just WOW!
Good observation William.
I'm also a born Namibian, and enjoyed the video completely, living in SA now, my heart will always be in Namibia, so many wonderfull memories, thank you, blessings 😇😇😇🤗🤗🤗💕💕💕🙏🙏🙏🙏
Txs
This was more interesting than many animal documentaries I've seen, so different. The environment is like nothing I've seen before, & how the animals cope with it. Fascinating.
From flora to fauna ,this is very informative and educative to Zim learner guides as I. . . Thank you Joe for holding fort.
Thank you very much
I’ve watched nature films and enjoyed nature photography fifty years. This is some of the best, if not the very best, I’ve seen.
Congratulations on a visual tour de force! Bravo, well done.
Thanks Edward. Appreciate
Just wonderful documentary my wife and I would love to see all this nature with our own eyes.
Louis Dan thank you and do make a plan to visit the Park or any other. This planet is extraordinary
I spent whole of 1992 here as part of the Wildlife Dept on Botswana side. Wonderful memories.
That was exactly the year I started visiting the Kalahari gemsbok side of the park. If we could only have those days back when there was great cooperation between Wildlife and Parks SA. Today wildlife department is absent from cooperation especially when it comes to returning escaped lions from the farms in Botswana side. If only I could get someone high up to give some attention to the problem
@@JoesCamera Wow, that' a sad turn of events. I was 18 at the time and we patrolled entire park every so often. I had a great time. Lions did get to nearby farms once or twice that year, but largely stayed in the park. Don't give up. Keep up the good work.
Thank you and thanks for watching stay in touch.
A Unique + Incredible Wildlife Film. A Must Visit in Lifetime. Indian.
Thank you very much
I'm simply in awe of all your documentaries
Thank you for your dedication
Chez Fortheloveofdogs thank you very much for such a wonderful complement. It makes the heart glad to know your work provide some form of pleasure. Please stay in touch.
I think the Secretary bird is so majestic looking, tall, beautifully marked with its head feathers and markings. It struts it’s stuff like it owns the place. No snake can escape it’s stomping feet. Snakes bolt away in fear of it. What a cool bird. I want one!
Yes I agree with your sentiments. It is a majestic bird
Quite America aye. Sees something good and instantly wants to Murica it. On a light note, people who imprison wild animals as pets ought to be crimpled or non-fatally shot to humble the entitlement that makes them think wild animals would be better off in their care
KTP always has a lot to offer, whether you visit thousands times.❤️ The Desert!Land of The Braves.!
One would think it's an old documentary from the 90s but those were the best and this is superb. Loved it! I am east African but I've always just loved the Kgalagadi. Planning a trip there once the corona thing passes.
