  • Camping in Botswana - Moremi, Savuti, Chobe and Kubu Island
    It’s been more than a year since I’ve been to Botswana. Join Ryan, Ed and I as we cross the Limpopo again for an exciting new adventure!
    Camps we stayed at on this trip; Khama Rhino Sanctuary, Khumaga camp in the Makgadikgadi National park, Southgate Makwee and SKL Khwai camp in the Moremi Game Reserve, Savuti campsite in Chobe National Park, Chobe Safari Lodge, Elephant sands and Kubu Island.
    A special thanks to Edward Bath Overlanding (bit.ly/3ah09HJ), 4x4 Ventures (bit.ly/2NNlQFV) for joining me on this trip and sharing some great driving footage!

    Been a while! Join me as we head back to Botswana! I probably say the word "amazing" 50 times in this video but that's really what this trip was like! PS. The horrible sound coming for my car is the exhaust, I bent it on a stump :P

      I was wondering what that 'tinny' rattle was on the downhill. My four ARB UVP plates give me lotsa peace of mind for my Everest but probably not total immunity. Great video. Thanks Chris.

    I just discovered your channel (and your other friends channels) recently. Subscribed immediately. Great content. Your overlanding is a lot more luxurious than what we do in the US. Corona beer? Really, that's luxury. Another big difference is that you need 4wd to get where you're going. We could stay on the paved road to get to most any place in the US, but we choose to go off-road just for the fun of it. I'll be watching more.

      Thanks! If you have a canvas tent I think it’s fine. I personally wouldn’t use a nylon / pop-up tent (albeit I’ve seen people do it). Regardless of the type of tent always be aware of your surroundings when you exit the tent, close it when you leave and never store open food inside.

    Awesome video! Thanks for sharing. We are heading to many of the camps you visited next month. I was wondering what tyre pressures worked best? I’ll be towing a BL Ratel with a Fortuner; my mate will be travelling in a Hilux with RTT. We both use BFG KO2’s. I’ve been thinking of going down to 1.5 all round, Ratel included . Any thoughts?

    Hello Chris 👐
    I'm really satisfied because I found your channel because I'm planing Botswana trip for next year.
    Do you have some advice, where to start? You booked with SKL cams? We want to do 12 days self drive.

    Thank you for informative info especially on the time you spend on the road! SUPER HELPFUL! .... I have a question! Because i found 2 different info regarding the entry fees + camp fees.
    1) what is the actual chobe/moremi park entry fee for person + car,
    2) what is the camp fee, (starting at least) , also if you had a chance to come in Xakanaka?

      Hi Ira,
      Latest Botswana park fees can be found here;

      Camp fees vary form operator to operator. Your best bet for easy booking is through Botswana Footprints;

      @@GetOutGO Hi Christo
      Would you say its possible/recommendable to tour Botswana without prior bookings? I understand that booking trough Botswana footprints make things much easier, but I normally travel without prior bookings because so many things can go wrong on a long trip and maybe you want to stay longer/shorter at a specific camp. This will be my first trip to Botswana and we only have a ground tent. Let me know if I can contact you on a different medium. Many thanks

    • @GetOutGO
      @GetOutGO  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rico, apologies for the late reply, your comment ended up in spam for some reason. In-season you’re definitely going to have to book in advance for most places. Footprints are a good booking agent and I assist Adventurer patrons with planning as well on if you’re interested www.patreon.com/getoutgo

    Great video! I'm planning on going to Botswana November, do you think a BMW x5 and Jeep Grand Cherokee will make it over the terrain? Or do you recommend something more serious like a Cruiser or Defender?

    • @GetOutGO
      @GetOutGO  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Devon, depends where in Botswana you're going but I definitely wouldn't recommend an X5. Some places definitely require a low-range, high-clearance 4x4 and AT tyres.
