    The Kayano is now my go to running shoe for zone 2 training and recovery. For years i was high jacking my progress by following the shoe vloggers and the obsession with soft neutral - often times unstable shoes. I find the wide fit option for the shoe works best for me - although re colour its a Ford choice - you can have any colour you want as long as its black! The Kayano is a fantastic shoe - but my 27s wore at the same rate at the same spot on the sole as yours

Have a quick question for you, I pronater moderate to severely on my right foot when running at higher paces and am currently running NB 860 v12 and Mizuno horizon 5 I want to add another stability shoe to my staple would you recommend these for stability and comfort on treadmill runs at moderate to high pace over the Saucony Hurricane 23 or the Mizuno inspire 17? My PT reffered me to these shoes, esp due to great pronation. I Suffer from a massive issues in my femur, ankles & foot and these shoes alone allow me to be stable enough to walk, I have to wear them around my house in order to be able to walk, they are a absolute miracle. I have the kayano 27 and 28. I love both of them. I personally don't feel a big difference between them but I am not the most experienced runner. Compared to my GT 2000 I really feel the better cushion but have the feeling I my feet get hotter. I didn't really need an extra pair but the neon orange-pink of the women's shoe sold it to me 😅.

    • @HereWeAreRunning
      @HereWeAreRunning  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts Alicia. I'd certainly agree about feet getting warm in these shoe. I think the difference in feel between the 27 and 28 is a subtle. For me the 28 has a bit more bounce and energy return due to the FF Blast midsole. Neon orange-pink, what a great colour, how could you not buy it 😂

    Hey, I have serious over pronation and never really used Asics. I wanted to know if I can use Asics as a daily shoe as I am not into running. Also could you help me choose between the kayano 28 and kayano lite 2? ( The store keeper said the kayano lite 2 is better as it should provide better support for my arches). Also does shoes like the ultraboost 22 provide support for the arches?

    Thank you so incredibly much for your review! Im trying to decide if i should get these. I tried them on and they felt absolutely amazing. I have been a runner , walker and fitness freak for MANY years, yet never invested in really good shoes before. However, now im suffering from osteoarthritis and various other foot problems at times (inc plantar fasciitis. I also have osteoporosis ). I know i need a lot of support. Of the shoes i tried the other day, these felt the best/ most comfortable, but i cant help feeling a little nervous spending so much on the shoes when i haven't gone on a long walk with them! So far your review is definitely the best and really is pushing me toward "yes get them now". Any more advice would be greatly appreciated! edit- may sound strange but wanted to mention i also have narrow feet (it may change your thoughts or recommendations 😊)

    • @HereWeAreRunning

      I know what you mean. It's always disappointing to spend good money on shoes that then turn out to be not right for you and feels like a waste. Worth checking the Asics website in your region and what benefits they offer if you sign up for free as a One Asics member. In the UK, you get 90 days to try the shoes out and return them if you aren't happy, even if you've worn them, which is very reassuring.

      ASICS make lots of cushioned shoes, some for those that need a neutral shoe and others for those that need some support due to over pronation. This is very much a support shoe and IMO its the most cushioned and stable support shoe that ASICS make.

      Durability is good so far. Not had the outsole wear issues many runners had with the Kayano 27. I don't think the FF Blast foam is quite as bouncy as it was to begin with but still a really comfortable shoe. Except, for reasons I haven't worked out yet, the last couple of long runs I got a blister on the inside heel area of my left foot. Personally I don't get on with Hoka, after having issues with the Hoka Arahi 4.

      Thanks. If you over pronate and need to run in support shoes then I'd certainly recommend the Kayano 28 and the Adrenaline GTS 21. (I've not tried the Glycerine GTS 19 but suspect it's a bit more cushioned than the Adrenaline and a bit heavier.) Having a shoe rotation and alternating between two pairs, by two different brands will help to reduce the risk of injury. If I was only picking one though, it would probably be the Kayano. • @HereWeAreRunning

      If you were choosing between your different Kayano models, definitely run the event in the 28. It's lighter and the new FF Blast midsole is an improvement. It you wanted a different model of shoe to race in that still provides some stability (although only mild stability), consider the New Balance FuelCell Prism. I've run marathons and half marathons in it and got on well.

    • @HereWeAreRunning
      @HereWeAreRunning  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Chris. Check out my review of the Brooks Launch GTS 8, which I'm going to be using for tempo runs. Depending on how much you overpronate, also worth considering the New Balance FuelCell Prism (which is reduced at the moment, ahead of the V2 being released shortly). This is a great lightweight stability shoe, ideal for speed workouts, however only really suitable for mild overpronatation.

    • @Chris_Baily
      @Chris_Baily 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HereWeAreRunning thanks Chris. I've just watched your video on the launch 8. When you said it didn't have much energy return, that put me off a bit to be honest. On my level of pronation, Mymo says that I mid foot strike on both feet, have mild pronation (5°) in my left and severe pronation (9°) in my right. I used to run in 361° Strata 3, and have just got the Gel Kayano 27 as the Strata wore out, but want a "faster" shoe for speed training and race days to pair with the easier run days of the Gel Kayano. I have tried the Gel DS-Trainer 26, Adrenaline 21 and Ravenna 11, but I found each of those three to have poor grip at the front of the sole, so when I push off on my toes it felt like I was running on gravel when I was actually on the roads and pavements. Part of me is wondering should I not worry too much about the stability side of things, and see how an Endorphin Speed feels, as it gets some really great reviews.

    • @HereWeAreRunning
      @HereWeAreRunning  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Chris_Baily I've never tried the Endorphin Speed but what I would say is that the New Balance Prism is a really great shoe. I personally love the FuelCell midsole and as I'm not running in it all the time, I worry less about it only providing mild stability. I've run fast short distances all the way up to marathons in it. When I mentioned about the energy return of the Launch GTS 8, that is partly because the Prism has really good energy return in comparison.

And here I am, suffering from back pains while I run. In addition to this, they have an extreme wear on soles. I’m tracking their distance and it’s only 400 kilometers.
    Wear and support. They are what I’m looking for right now. Do you recommend kayano 28?
    Thanks for the video 🙏

      @HereWeAreRunning  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Never liked Nike for stability shoes, they really don't care about overpronators, in my opinion. I think you'd find the Kayano 28 a much better shoe for stability and also far more comfortable. The Kayano 27 had some early outsole wear issues. I'm hopeful that the 28 isn't the same but I still need to build up some more distance in them to be sure. Earlier versions of the Kayano were very durable. I got at least 800km / 500 miles in the Kayano 26.

I had one and only Asics shoe before but it was a neutral running shoe and I wasn’t aware of my overpronation at that time. It was a great shoe nonetheless. Just bought the 28s today. Had the 27s before hand and I will say the interior foam footbed is much thicker and plushy on the 28 than on the 27. Almost like wearing a Tempurpedic mattress on your feet.

    • @HereWeAreRunning
      @HereWeAreRunning  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've not run in the Asics GT 2000 9 so can't give a direct comparison based on that but the key differences are that the GT2000 9 is a bit lighter, has a different midsole foam and based on the materials used, the Kayano should have a slightly more cushioned and comfortable ride. But for that, you pay £35 more for the Kayano.

    • @Dave-pv1qr

      I've never run in the Kayano Lite but it is a completely different shoe to the Kayano. They just share the name but personally I think that's a bit of a marketing thing. Having said that, the Kayano Lite is a bit lighter than the Kayano, uses Flyte Foam midsole rather than Flyte Foam Blast, has AHAR rubber outsole instead of AHAR+ and both shoes have different approaches to providing stability. I would expect the Kayano 28 to probably be the more stable of the two shoes. Both shoes offer good amount of cushioning.

      Certainly I find the Kayano 28 roomy in the toe box. I always find that both the Kayano and the Adrenaline GTS fit me true to size (UK size 11 for both). I'd say that the Kayano 28 has more bounce than the previous versions, thanks to the FF Blast midsole and probably a bit more than the Adrenaline 21.
