I just bought a pair of these today, and omg! So comfortable! And considering that I have wide feet and I bought these in standard width, it's safe to say that Asics does fit a wider foot better than most brands out there.

I did a test with my local running shoe store. I needed a stability shoe that were 4 out of 6 on the stability range. Will these shoes have too much stability for me?

Will you be getting the Kayano 29 anytime soon for review? I see it on Asics website but says coming soon. I see it utilizes the FFBlast+ foam. I have recently figured out that I have flat feet and need a stability shoe to take stress off my ankles and knees when just walking around or standing at my job on concrete for 10hrs. I'm stuck on splurging for the 28 or wait for the 29 and see what its about then choose. I'm sure when the 29 releases the 28 will go on discount as well. Any input would be appreciated!

I used to run in the Nimbus, but they went off the rails for about a decade. The 22 I have now is not bad. I've heard the Nimbus 24 w/ new foam is too squishy for me, being 235#. Never bought a stability model shoe. Always neutral. Wonder how this Kayano w/ this foam would do. HATED the unstable Novablast, so, I'm not interested in that V2.

Bought them last week, initial impression much more soft and cushioned compared to my previous shoe a circa 2016 GT-2000 (3 or 4?). Did 2 runs in the Kayanos, no issues, felt a lot better than GT-2000s. Third run: got blister on inner side wall of left heel. Not sure if I can fix this by wearing a different type of sock, needless to say very disappointed as they feel very soft and comfortable on the sole but if it's rubbing on the side of my heel that's gonna be a dealbreaker. Strangely I don't actually feel anything rubbing, just the blister appeared and now I can't walk anymore. I'm a 4E width and visually the shoe does look a little odd with its narrow heel and wide toe box. Not sure if Asics widened the heel enough to match the rest of the shoe for 4E.
Not sure I could recommend the shoe for lounging around in or sitting at a computer desk all day as they don't feel as comfortable as the old GT-2000 for that. I think the whole upper is more stiff and rigid or maybe just needs to be broken in, but even the sole feels like its pressing slightly against the bottom of my feet when I'm just sitting and I started getting some mild pain in my upper left forefoot just from sitting while wearing them. Standing, walking, running, feels very comfortable though.
Have ordered Brooks Adrenaline as a precaution as I just need some general purpose shoe that doesn't give me issues. Yeah boring shoe I know, but I can't be throwing $250 at all these exotic shoes not knowing what the result is going to be. I need something reliable and dependable. The New Balance 860 has a very high toe box that didn't work for me either. Sometimes I think the designers are trying to do too many things with these shoes by putting in all these little arches and guiderails and support beams etc. that inevitably it's not going to play nice with lots of feet.

I wonder if the Asics Gel-Nimbus 24 will also have the exposed gel all around the heel towards the middle foot area like this Kayano 28 !
Lots of gel and the weight is reduced ! Just wow 👌

I’ve had mine for a few weeks now and love them for walking in. I’ve done a few runs, around 30km total in them but found myself drifting back to my Arahi 5’s or react infinity 2’s. There is a massive difference in comfort compared to other Kayanos. These are much softer and less brick like But maybe a little too soft? As a heavy runner (117kg) I find myself feeling the occasional stone through the forefoot almost like the midsole bottoms out. You also have to be careful when putting them on, don’t be lazy and try to put them in without loosening your laces all the way as the padded heel will roll inward and bunches up inside the shoe where you have to remove the shoe to correct the heel. I also sometimes wear these in the gym instead of my Metcons for weight training as the stability and heel drop is great.

Hi Scott. How would you compare the Arahi 5 to these? I've ran in GT-2000 and more recently Gel Kayano's from the 24 to now. I thought about trying the Arahi 5 but from reviews it maybe wasn't worth it, do they wear more? I've had 600 miles out of a pair of Kayano's in the past but was concerned the Hoka won't last anywhere near the same. Also, what are they like comfort and support wise in comparison? Thanks.

Hi @@rustybaws, I have to admit, I have now found myself drifting back to the Kayano 28's for easy days. Mainly due to an achilles issue and I find the drop on the Arahi 5's a little low when I am having a flair up. My main shoes that I am using at the moment are Kayano 28's and Pegasus 38 shields for rainy days. Then again I have just received a new pair of Nike Rival 4's which were very comfortable this morning.

@@scottsteele765 Nice one, thanks. I am looking forward to getting some miles done in the 28's, especially after breaking my ankle this year so this will be a good test of them anyway. Maybe one day I'll try a pair of Arahi's. Thanks for the reply.
