      For me it is a terrible shoe. Have done a few 10km and each time ended with heel pain and blisters. The blisters due to the thick, non breathable upper, the heel pain im not so sure. Due to the lack of volume in the midfoot the laces cut into the top of the foot despite trying every way of lacing. There just isnt enough material to cover the top of the foot at all. I bought a half size larger than my previous Asics Cumulus to give extra room in the toebox and my toes can wriggle but I cant see it being comfortable unless you have extremely narrow, flat feet with no bridge or arch. Just to compare I tried the Cumulus 25 and they were far more comfortable immediately but I wanted a shoe with more stability. Bad and costly decision

    My 1st running shoe was Kayano27 and bought it last year, I'm also beginner in running, until last month I'm complete 960km on that Kayano27 and overall very happy with that shoe, last 2 week I purchased Asics GlideRide3 to replace my kayano27 as a daily training shoe, and it feels very soft and I can go for more mileage easier with GlideRide3 compare kayano27, also rocking design feel pushed u forward and efficiency while running. For those who now are using the Kayano series and plan to try something different then u can consider Asics GildeRide3, event these are not stability shoes but the heel counter is also good :)

      I have used kayano 21 and kayano 25, but I still miss my 21 as it got much better stability and I can still buy that shoe if its available at any day. Now I just brought Asics Gel Contend 4B+ for USD $18 and wore it for 5 minutes or so and I felt that I got my kayano 21 back. Fingers crossed hope it performs like my 21 does and I have no complaints for $18 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

    Hi ! I retired my no.27 and got no.29 (women, size 9). I m neutral but I like stability shoe. When I tried this 29 at store, I felt like I was standing on a cutting board ! All around the contour of my feet seemed to get supported firmly.
    I always wear running socks, so I never have a blister - not w no.29 also.
    I feel that no.29 is a bit lighter than my old no.27. The heel of 29 is quite great as I am a heel striker.
    The front sole of 29 is bouncier than 27. I felt something bothering my arch when I broke in no.27 but there is totally flat from no.29.
    My 1st feeling when starting running in 29 - the shoe seemed to curvier (more concave toward ur feet) and cradled my feet in that way for a short while. After going longer and faster, 1st feeling was gone. The heel and the front sole then really facilitate my running pattern. Both heel and front sole pushed u forward I felt I was bouncing ! (I never use a carbon plate shoe, so I cannot compare w that)
    In general, I am quite happy w no.29.

      @HereWeAreRunning  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good to hear that you've had a positive experience with the 29 and not experienced any blisters.
      I think it's the curvier / more concave design, especially around the heel area, that for some of us is contributing to getting a blister.

    I'm having lots of fun using my Nimbus 24 for slow and a bit fast runs that is now my favorite daily trainer of 2022. And I heard that the Kayano 29 is a better shoe with more bounce, stability and just 10 grams heavier then the Nimbus 24 at the size 9 US. So I plan to get the Kayano 29 by the end of the year ... I overpronate anyways and could use a bit more stability ... Probably I will run even faster and for longer with it versus the Nimbus . These two high cushioning shoes from Asics seems very versatile this year .

    • @probolehla
      @probolehla ปีที่แล้ว +2

      kayano is a bit out of my budget.. do you think the gel nimbus is good for stability based on your experience?

    • @MiracleWarriors
      @MiracleWarriors ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @probolehla-_-8642 recently I had to stop using a Puma Velocity Nitro 2 because I was bending too much the middlesole inwards with less then 60 miles ran with this beautiful shoe. Since it was bending too much it was also getting destroyed in the rubber in the heel area . But my Gel-Nimbus 24 is still alive and I'm running with it still after 300 miles. The Kayano 29 has more stability for sure then the Nimbus but the Gel-Nimbus 24 is so much more fun to me to run either fast or slow and can match in speed my Boston 11and easily faster and my comfortable versus my Pegasus 39.
      But unfortunately, because my overpronation, the Gel-Nimbus 24 will not last as long as the other shoes I just mentioned above. What I recomend is that if you want extremely durability for your shoe , get like a Adidas Ultraboost 22 ( I had it and lasted near 600 miles for me) but it less versatile since it is heavy but it does have a nice bounce and flow. But if you want one of the most versatile and fun running shoes of 2022 and totally worth still today even with the Nimbus 25 launching soon : get the Gel-Nimbus 24 in a good discount and be happy.
      Good luck.

    i have both Nimbus 24, and 25s, which are awsome, i am a neutral foot, however i love the extra firmness and arch support from the Kayano 29, with the FF blast+, they feel way different than the Nimbus, but in a good way. I have ran in Kayano for years, on my 3rd Kayano 28. I purchased the 29, initially when I put them on I loved the increase cushion on the forefoot. I ran 7 miles in them and ugh! The entire run I thought about this shoe. I have never been in so much pain and I got a blister on left foot. I have never gotten a blister from a single pair of Kayanos. I am an overpronator so what shoe do I buy now? Is it the increase in forefoot that messed me up?

  • @stevemcq75

    I've bought the 29 but not run in it yet as it was bought as a Father's Day present - roll on next weekend! I was choosing between the Glycerin GTS 20 and the 29 - I have the previous version of both shoes so it was an interesting comparison putting one on each foot. (NB. Did not experience blistering in the previous version, nor in any running shoe I've worn so far) In the previous versions, the Brooks was definitely my preference and I expected that to be the case again, especially given the new nitro foam on the Brooks. This was not the case. The Brooks felt clunky and way too firm, also the fit was not as snug as the previous version. By comparison the 29, felt super well fitted, a little softer, taller and bouncier as well. Plus it seemed to have a much more pronounced forefoot rocker which I liked. Will report back once I've run in them, but on initial try-on there was no contest...29 all the way.

    I’m not a shoe expert, but I went to a couple stores and tried a bunch of shoes, from different brands, and the ASICS Gel Kayano 29 was the most comfortable (for running) by far… - which is weird, since I didn’t actually like the Kayano 28… - other shoes felt “faster” (kinda propelling me forward), and others felt lighter, but I really liked the “support” and cushioning on the Kayano 29.
    For walking, and casual wear, I still prefer my old Adidas Ultraboost 20 - which I don’t really like for running, because of the lack of heel support…
    A complaint that I have about the Kayano 29 is that it lacks ventilation/cooling…

    I'm sorry the Gel Kayano 29 didn't work for you. My first Asics were the Asics 101, tried a few other brands but the Asics just fit too well. So I've been running in the Kayanos for many years. I just retired a pair of Kayano 27s and bought the 29s and have had no issues (50 miles on them so far). Actually the 27s didn't seem to lace correctly and I had to adjust them many times to stop them from digging into the top of my foot. The 29s have a different lace that seems to be wider, softer, and stretchier- definitely a plus. I do need the stability and am wondering about trying a new shoe. If you returned the Kayano, what did you get instead? I'm getting older and think I need some more cushioning as much as I love the feel of the road.

      Kayano 27 definitely fits my foot shape better but outsole wear is more excessive.
      Kayano 28 and 29 has improved midsole performance but heel blisters a big problem. I've changed the insole in my 28s and can now wear them without getting a blister.

    Hi - I am a stability shoe fan like yourself and need to include them in my rotation to avoid injury. I have purchased the last few years - 3 pairs of the 27; the 28 and the 29. I love the 29 and think its a step close to the holy grail of a stability shoe that is fun to run in. My favourite comfort shoe is the Hoka Clifton but i couldnt run in it every day -- beacuse of stability issues. I find the 29 to be in the Hoka league for comfort - but with good stability.
    However i learned with one of my 27 version pair where i had a similar experience to you that one pair just didnt feel right and i couldnt run it. So i moved to the wide version - downside - its a Henry Ford colour choice - you can only have black! My last 4 pair have been 2 E width and they feel really comfortable - and i think have added stability. RE the price you have a point - but relative to others you do get value. I have over 1000 kms in my first wide pair of 27s - the sole is still very good and the upper perfect. You cant beat that with any other shoe and that comes at a price (my latest Hoka Clifton with the blown rubber sole are showing really visible abrasion after 40 km!) PS you can only get the 2E version on the ASICS UK site.

    • @HereWeAreRunning
      @HereWeAreRunning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I was buying Brooks I'd opt for the Adrenaline GTS 22, for Asics I'd avoid the Kayano 29 and opt for the Kayano Lite 3 instead but I still really like the NB Vongo V5. Also, worth looking at the Saucony Tempus if you prefer a shoe that's a bit lighter.

      @@jollyroger1009 I have Saucony Guide 15. Midsole is fun, very light (compared to Kayano) and the price is good. But it is narrower compared to Kayano 28/29. And stability is better in Kayano (my opinion). I would also suggest checking Mizuno Wave Inspire 18.

    I have just worn out my Kayano 27’s. These were great apart from the sole wearing out quickly. I had no blisters.
    Just replaced them with the 28’s and got blisters on insides of bottom heel on my first walk in them.
    Was about to return and get the more expensive 29s but from seeing your video I don’t think I bother. Thanks for the warning :)
    Did your 28s eventually break in and you were blister free? Can you recommend a alternative to the Kayano that does not cause blisters?

    • @HereWeAreRunning
      @HereWeAreRunning  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      On my 28 I'm using a blister pad and lacing them with a runner's knot. It's reduced the risk of a blister occurring but I also limit their use to runs less than 16km. I was hoping that the 29 would feel different in the heel area but it seems to be very similar.

    • @davieslm

      @@HereWeAreRunning Thanks for the reply. Did your 28’s sole wear out as quickly as the 27’s. I suppose I could try running socks.
      If you push your heel down hard in the shoe then you can feel a sharp edges. I don’t get that with the 27’s.
      I am wondering if its because they are too narrow in the heel area and the heel hangs over the insole causing friction?

    • @HereWeAreRunning
      @HereWeAreRunning  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@davieslm The outsole on the 28 has been fine. I think that was an issue specific to the 27.
      I always wear running socks but grey alone didn't prevent a heel blister in the 28.
      Some people have replaced the insole in the 28 to help.

      My Kayano 26's sole, specifically the AHAR+ on the heel wore down to the midsole after 290 miles so I'm a bit wary of buying any other Kayano's for now.
      Previous 25's lasted 550 miles. Saw reviews about the sole on the 27's so skipped those and I wasn't convinced the 28's would be any better and now the 29's are out.
      I also contacted Asic's about my concern but they just gave a standard answer that the shoe will wear down depending on the runner. However, they did suggest joining their OneASICS membership program where it gives you a 90 day trial and you can return the trainers for any reason...not sure if they then give full refund though (haven't read all the T&C's yet).
      @Here We Are Running have you thought about signing up for One ASICS? Worth a try?
      @MR_LEE As I haven't bought any more Kayano's, I'm now using New Balance Vongo V5 (see Chris's video on his channel) and also Mizuno Wave Inspire 17, these two seem pretty good although I get a squeak from one of the wave plates in the Mizuno, comfort is still fine though.
      I also got myself a pair of GT1000-10 (£45) to try and the heel is wearing quite fast, and a pair of GT2000-10 Lite-show (£56) which I haven't used yet. At these prices I'm not so worried if these wear out quickly.

      I've owned, run in and reviewed the Kayano models since the Kayano 24. Since then I've clocked up thousands of kilometres it Kayano's. I had concerns with comfort in the Kayano 28, especially due to heel blisters. By just trying on the Kayano 29, I could tell the same issue existed. I didn't need to run in it to know it wasn't going to work for me. Had I run in it, I'd not have been able to return it and get my money back.
      Hundreds of people have subscribed to this channel having watched previous Kayano reviews. Many others commented about blisters with the Kayano 28 and 29. It was important to make this video and has probably helped plenty of runners to decide whether they want to part with their money and buy the 29 or consider a different shoe instead.
