Motorcycles, and cars, come with power stealing restrictions.. catalytic converters. Now, these are put in place to cut down on emissions for street use cars which is supposed to make the exhaust better for the air. Now if you have a race motorcycle or race car, these restrictions don't count. Race, track and offroad use vehicles don't have to adhere to the same rules. In which case you may decide to decat or remove the catalytic converter from your bike. Today, we're removing the catalytic converter from this 2019 kawasaki z900. For some bikes, the catalytic converter is part of the main exhaust. the z900 has a mid pipe that contains all of the packing, meaning we're drilling it out. It's a time consuming task, but it does make a big difference in overall performance of your motorcycle. But again, this is for off road use only. Especially if you live in a state that does emission testing, this bike wouldn't pass. If you've done this to your bike, leave a comment below and tell us how your experience went. - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
As a z900 owner this is interesting to see. I love how you show the AFR on your dyno runs. I still have my cat in mine. Great job! I've been loving your work and videos!
Thank you 🙏 we really appreciate the love! 🤙
I cannot say enough good things about these guys, they rock. Super detail oriented, amazing work. If you are in the Tampa area I highly recommend checking them out !!!! I've had my bike in there twice and they never disappoint.
Haha he'll yeah bro! You see the video we made on your bike yet???
just run a dyno on my bike previously decat and breadbox delete with DNA air filter installed, I got the same result like you around 119. The air filter does not make any different.
I got my z900 in 2018 from brand new .. it came with a full akra system, I got it custom tuned and the guy explained and showed me that the bike was getting way to much fuel some spots so after a couple of hours I left with a bike that had better fuel eco AND ran better, a small gain in HP but I was after a bike that was balanced.. a few years later local laws made it impossible to run a full system since I risk crazy fines so I made the call to get the original headers on the bike with the akra slip on, did a new custom map/tune and the bike still runs great.. not a major diffrence in sound or feel of the bike.
Awesome man! 👌
MT 09 2021 owner here, i have a question... Could i get a slip on and de cat all the way to the headers, in other words, make a custom exhaust on stock headers? If can do i need a tune, or leave as be... Just wanna better sound and don't wanna waste 1500+ on full system
what frame sliders are those on the bike?
Can I get contact info?
Thx for the video!
the link pipe is 51mm or 60mm ?
How did u get the cat out?
I have removed the bread box replaced with mid pipe link and mivv slipon. the catalyst remains. Original headers. Do I need to do a mapping? The z900 runs really smoothly and nicely
Z900 2018
Not really. A regular ecu flash will still be beneficial though. Lower fans, remove emissions sensors, etc...
Great shop even better work. at 100 / hour drilling prob not worth the gains.
is it 51mm or 60mm
Is doing the decat basically the same as having a full exhaust system, or will a full exhaust get you more power? If so, on average, how much more power, if any?
Having a decat system is similar but not the same as having a full, aftermarket exhaust system. Depending on what type of aftermarket exhaust system, they should make more power than a gutted cat with a slip on. The hp numbers all vary depending on the system.
@@provenpowercycles gotcha. Thanks for the reply.
Did you get a check engine with the decat? I want to put a header on mine, but I’m worried about the check engine
Nope, you won't, have been running my 2019 for a couple of months fine
@@hakanilbas2220 no tune? I have only done breadbox delete on my z900 2018. Do i need tune?
The most helpful part would've been showing us how to remove the cat.
Might be a stupid question, but does it make the bike sound a lil louder? Because l tried full exhaust, but it’s way too loud for where l live… I’m trying to find a way to make it a lil louder, without a full exhaust
The muffler is a biggie. If it's a short muffler with little to no packing then it will be a screamer. The more packing and the bigger the muffler, the quieter it will be
@@provenpowercycles ok good, l have a slip-on CRT Sc-Project on my z900
@olivierdubois2273 yeah that's going to be pretty loud lol
do we need to tune the bike after remove the catalytic???
I usually recommend it across the board to people due to the majority of the bikes we tune, the AFR skews pretty badly either rich and or lean. Some bikes even have a crazy lean then rich then lean again mixture once you get the cat out of it. You just never know.
@@provenpowercycleshi there, just want to ask is there any different between fullsystem z9 header with stock header with decat and breadbox delete?
@AfiqDahary yes. If you get a good full exhaust system, then it does add a couple extra hp depending on the manufacturer. 🤙
Will Doing a full exhaust and remap void your warranty?
Yes
What's a cat? Meow?
