    Couple thoughts; get a ball joint removal tool aka pickle fork (way cheap at Harbor Freight) drill two holes in the cat the size and spacing to get the tool forks in there. Attach a pair of big vice grips on the tool and twist the cat material out. This worked on the pre 2024 ZX6R, but the new pucks look a lot thicker. Also, once you gut the cat you have created an expansion chamber, in effect another muffler, that's why the tone changed, and what you lost in restriction you gained in back pressure with the expansion chamber. One cancels out the other. Some people hate the sound after the cat is gutted, the scream is gone and the tone is too mellow for their tastes. But to each his own. In other bikes I have de-catted, after a tune the bike comes "on the cam" at a much lower RPM; more bottom end power. Highly recommend a tune/flash after any de-cat.

    I straight piped mine and added a fuel controller, and I noticed more power near the redline, but less power below 5000rpm

      Sounds like you need just a little back pressure to get that low rpm power back

    Is it me or were you shortshifting like crazy? You still had plenty of powerband to go in each gear before you had to shift. My ‘23 gets over 100mph in 3rd. By the time I hit 6th I’m going 140.

      Depending on your setup, yes. I think the only thing keeping us from running as lean as everyone else is that goofy 360 link pipe, which I haven't seen anyone else use. I'm planning too, maybe next week. Probably have Mooremafia or 2wdw do it

    I just bought the M4 street slayer and it’s coming right off just like yours is. So I can cut that out and I won’t need a tune and it won’t throw engine codes. I’m kinda curious because I do plan on tuning it but if I can just do this for the mean time and get that pop like I want plus it just sounds better.

    • @bikesandbangs
      @bikesandbangs  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah as far as a cheap way to get the perks of a full system without spending the cash this seems to work good. I'll probably get mine tuned here sometime but with it running perfect without it, I'm not really in any hurry

      I gave it a shot and failed miserably. After 2 hours of hard core drilling, hammering and chiseling I gave up. Took the headers to the local muffler shop and they cut out the cat and welded a 2.5 inch straight pipe. BEST $50 I EVER SPENT! Thanks for the video, great content!

      I hear u but that’s not exactly right. That small converter is probably worth 200 bucks at best. If he wants to cut that section of pipe out, he would have to have a new section welded on. Or he wouldn’t be able to put on a slip on exhaust and would need to buy a full exhaust. Both of those options would cost more than he would get from selling that catalytic converter. Hope that clears up any misunderstanding.
