      Correct. It's certainly not a looker, but point it towards the twisties, and it's very hard to beat for handling prowess. Braking, throttle smoothness, and shifting are excellent as well. I rode one from Vegas to Kansas, hitting all the best twisty roads in between through Utah and Colorado. You have to keep it high in the rpms to be in the "meat" of the powerband (I own an Aprilia Tuono V4, so I'm used to torque and power everywhere in the rpm range...), but damn, they are a hoot.

    I’ve put 20k miles on my Z900. Freakin love it. Never had any problems with it. The key hole is fucking horrible though. Neutral is the easiest neutral I’ve experienced. It does run hot sometimes but it’s literally impossible to tell because the temperature gauge is just 6 bars. You don’t feel the heat the though because it doesn’t have, ya know, fairings. You only notice if you end the 95 degree ride with a 10 minute climb up a mountain at 25 mph and then you can hear the freakin coolant boiling. Gear changes are I guess clunky but nothing to write home about. Really haven’t had a single bad experience with it. Burned out the clutch and 14k because of incessant wheelies but that’s how it is with this bike. 🤷‍♂️

    I bought the Z900/2020 brand new as a beginner bike. I must say it is really an amazing bike. And yes, it does not have brembo brakes, or a standard quickshifter (but there are possibilities). The TFT display is just great and clear. The power is amazing and easy to control on low, mid and high revs. The bike is relatively heavy, but it drives more comfortable than the SV650 and easier to control. The Triumph, KTM (and possibly Ducati Monster) are about 30% more expensive as well in the Netherlands, so from a value perspective it is just not worth it. None of the issues you mentioned is something I've experienced. The real question is --> Did you drive one?

I ride a 2003 that I've loved for a long time that I consider a bit of a muscly naked. But plan to update to a 2017 z900 in the near future. As always I appreciate the content, and stay safe out there.

    • @stevesack7956
      @stevesack7956 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Updoot:
      I bought the 2017 z900 last year... And I've been loving it. Good machine if you you were thinking, "I want something lightweight and quick and modern at a good value, but I'm not an advanced rider with track day experience yet." Someday I may have the skills to utilize an RSV4 1100, But today is not that day and I'm having a blast on a light, torquey, street oriented bike that's not going to send me to jail if I open it up on the freeway. Easy to flick the front wheel up and goof around, and the ABS feels pretty natural(Coming from someone who's never had a bike with ABS). This year there has been a lot of content published regarding the tuning of these bikes, while previously very scarce. It's great stock though, very linear inspiring confidence, and the bike feels well-grounded, while the suspension is slightly on the soft side. A quick tail tidy is all that's needed to make the bike very sleek IMO. But I will be ruining that sleekness with a small windshield because the rider position(while comfortable) turns your body into a human sailboat sail. Comfort is determined by rider dimensions vs bike dimension , so for reference I am 5,10" 165 lb's. The bike can be easily flat footed and does not leave me feeling too crunched up. While in a tuck the handle bars would ideally be lower and more forward, while at a relaxed riding state the handlebar placement feels optimal.
      TLDR Bike Score: 8.3 TurboBusas out of 10

    I love my Z900. The stock pipe makes it sound like a z125, but throw on a Arko slip on and you’ve got a Super Naked for under 9k that will just as fast and nimble as most hyper nakeds and middleweight super sports on the road. And I’ve owned mine for 2 years and never had a mechanical issue so I don’t know what he’s taking about at the end but that hasn’t been my experience.

    My biggest gripe about the z900 is how close the muffler is to the right foot peg. With the stock exhaust I'm constantly hitting my heel on it. Love everything else about it though. I wish there were more aftermarket windscreen options that blended better with the bikes aesthetics

    I've had my Z900 since it came out in 2017 and I still love it! Honestly if the weather here weren't so unpredictable I'd ride it more often! Always puts a giant smile on my face sprinting through winding roads or even just cruising on the highways or through town on the way to work. Only gripe I have is my knees are shot to hell (courtesy of military service lol) so I'd really love it if there was an option for taller seat so my legs were extended just a tiiiiny bit more. Other than that, I've no real issues with it and the bike has been reliable as hell. Never have any issues shifting or finding neutral.

    Z900 rider, its just a good all around everyday bike. Commuting check, not a touring bike, but its easy to put miles on, and isn’t as aggressive like the triumph. Negatives is its almost too smooth, and its a bit heavy in the corners.. But overall its a damn reliable fast bike that you can count on..
